ANOTHER COFFEE BREAK: THE PSALM 23 ADVENTURE, Part 22<\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div>

 <\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Before we get back to where we left off in the 23rd<\/sup> Psalm\nAdventure, let me comment briefly on the continuing fallout from the\npresidential election.  I\u2019ve never been a fan of the mainstream media\nand this time was no exception.  Their distortion and deliberate\nmanipulation of the news to make it appear that Jezebel (in the form of HRC) was\ngoing to win was par for the course.  Add to that the millions of\nvotes cast by dead people, illegal aliens and animals, and the left-media was\nabsolutely sure they had this thing in the bag.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

What they forgot to count on was the fact that once God has made\na choice as to who will lead our nation, all the conniving, manipulation, and\nattempts to distort the facts by those who want a different outcome, naysayers\ndon\u2019t get to make the choice.  What most folks on the left failed to\ntake into account was the fact that the voter turnout by believing (and\nagreeing with God) Christians was probably at a historic high.  The\nprayer movement across the nation, spearheaded by friends like Dutch Sheets and\nothers, galvanized millions of Christians into prayer, intercession \u2013 and\nvoting!  There was no way that God wasn\u2019t going to hear that kind of\nprayer and intercession on behalf of the nation.  The election of a\nJezebel spirit to lead this nation would have been its total undoing and\ndestruction, and the Lord intervened!<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Despite the left-media\u2019s attempts to skew the election results,\nas of this writing, the total vote count is 62,972,226 for Trump and 62,277,750\nfor Hillary.  Thus Trump won the popular vote.  For the\nElectoral College, the final tally was Trump, 306, and Hillary,\n232.  The difference in the Electoral vote as published in the news\nmedia is accounted for by the fact that states, whose electoral votes had\noriginally been projected for Hillary, actually went to Trump.  Thus\nGod gets the final word in every way!  And God\u2019s people have the\nstage set for a historical move of the Spirit!<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

OK, time to get back to our Psalm 23 Adventure<\/span><\/b>.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Didn\u2019t\nmean to get so wordy with all of the stories in the last couple of Coffee\nBreaks, but what we need to realize is that if there is any major purpose to\nour being led in the Paths of Righteousness, it is to ensure that we as a\npeople are transformed into naturally supernatural believers who know how to\nfunction supernaturally natural.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That\nsaid, let\u2019s take a look at some more principles as they relate to this walk.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

7.<\/span><\/b>  We must respond to the Holy Spirit\u2019s leading and\ndirectives in training and equipping us to manifest the attributes of Kingdom\nLiving.<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Matthew\n6:19-34<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span> <\/span>Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and\nrust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for\nyourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and\nwhere thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there\nwill your heart be also.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine<\/span> eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of\nlight.  <\/sup>But if thine<\/span> eye be\nevil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is\nin thee be darkness, how great is<\/i> that darkness!  <\/sup>No\nman can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other;\nor else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and\nmammon.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye\nshall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on.\nIs not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?  <\/sup>Behold\nthe fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into\nbarns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth<\/span> them. Are ye\nnot much better than they?  <\/sup>Which of you by taking thought\ncan add one cubit unto his stature?  <\/sup>And why take ye\nthought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil\nnot, neither do they spin:  <\/sup>And yet I say unto you, That\neven Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.  <\/sup>Wherefore,\nif God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast\ninto the oven, shall he<\/i> not much more clothe<\/i> you,\nO ye of little faith?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What\nshall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?  <\/sup>(For\nafter all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth<\/span> that ye have need of all these things.  <\/sup>But\nseek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things\nshall be added unto you.  <\/sup>Take therefore no thought for\nthe morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.\nSufficient unto the day is<\/i> the evil thereof.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That\u2019s\na mouthful!  Let\u2019s see if we can get to the core of what Jesus is\nsaying.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Unredeemed\nhuman nature seeks to acquire and acquire and acquire \u201cstuff\u201d \u2013 houses, lands,\ncars, clothes and lots of money.  The reason for this need to \u201cget\u201d\nis rooted in the Fear of Death.  The subconscious logic behind the\nconstant need to acquire more and more things is that the day might come when a\nperson \u201cwon\u2019t have enough.\u201d  If they don\u2019t have enough, they might\nstarve, or they might be stuck without the provision of a home or clothing or\nthe ability to go somewhere for help \u2013 the subconscious excuses really can go\nastray!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

What\ngets lost in this maelstrom of subconscious human reasoning is the fact that\nyou are NOT your source!  GOD is your source \u2013 TOTALLY!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I\nhave a bone to pick with a lot of \u201cprosperity teachers\u201d because they have lost\na sense of balance in teaching the fact that God wants us to\nprosper.  God DOES want His people to prosper and become \u201cthe head\nand not the tail.\u201d  In fact, the Scripture plainly tells us the\nfollowing:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Deuteronomy 8:18<\/span><\/u><\/b>:  <\/span>But thou shalt<\/span> remember the LORD thy\nGod: for it is<\/i> he that giveth<\/span> thee\npower to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware<\/span> unto thy fathers, as it is<\/i> this day.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

You\nsee it don\u2019t you?  It is He that gives you the power to get\nwealth.  But this power to get wealth is not so we can use it however\nwe like.  God\u2019s objective is to demonstrate His Covenant.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\ndemonstration of His Covenant comes in our wise use of wealth.  We\nuse it to profit and expand the Kingdom of God.  We use it in ways\nthat assist other people without simply giving handouts lacking in\nresponsibility \u2013 the way so many government programs do.  (And I\nwon\u2019t go down that path today!)  We use our wealth in ways that bring\nGlory to the Lord Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

THAT,\nfolks, is how we lay up treasures for ourselves in <\/span>Heaven \u201cwhere neither moth nor rust corrupts, and where thieves\ndo not break through and steal.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

When\nJesus talks about the light of the body being the eye, He is talking about what\nwe focus our attention on.  Are we focusing on getting rich for the\nsake of getting rich, (and that\u2019s the essence of Mammon) or are we focusing on\nthe Kingdom of God?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This\nis why Jesus says that we cannot serve two masters.  We cannot serve\nthe Beast system with all of its \u201cget, get, get\u201d mentality and at the same time\nserve the Lord Jesus Christ and His purposes and destiny for us, along with His\ndesires.  Jesus \u201cgave, gave, gave,\u201d and that\u2019s a foreign way of\nliving to the world around us.  There\u2019s no issue with getting, so\nlong as we are giving proportionately as Holy Spirit directs.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Now\nJesus takes it the next step.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye\nshall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on.\nIs not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Get\nit?  What happens when you have lots of clothes, or lots of food, or\nmany homes, and the Lord instructs you to give it all away?  Are you\ngoing to fret and stew over not having enough?  Are you going to\nstart worrying about how you are going to live if He commands you to give everything\nyou\u2019ve got?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let\nme share a couple of quick stories as illustrations.  This first one\nis personal.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

When\nI was teaching broadcast engineering in the mid-1980\u2019s, Della and I were doing\nOK financially, but really \u201cjust making it\u201d with raising the younger of our\nchildren who by now were either in junior high or high school \u2013 and any of you\nparents know that when your kids are in their teen years, money flows out the\ndoor like water.  Unless you have a lot of money or very high\nincomes, there\u2019s just not a lot left over at the end of each month.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

One\nof my engineering students came to me one day and told me he was going to have\nto drop out of the class.  He was only about six weeks away from\ngraduating and had been a star pupil.  He was married and had a 1- or\n2-year old baby.  When I asked him the reason, he told me that they couldn\u2019t\nmake it financially and that he needed to find work.  Their rent was\ndue and he didn\u2019t have the money for the rent plus cover the other expenses\nthey had.  His rent was about a thousand dollars.  I told\nhim not to drop out but to sit tight \u2013 that the Lord would come through on his\nbehalf.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

[This\nmight have been a secular school, and I was teaching under the auspices of the\nUniversity of Alaska, but made no bones about sharing the Lord and spiritual\nprinciples as part of my engineering courses.]<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

When\nI got home that night, Della and I were sharing this young couple\u2019s plight with\neach other.  We both had a quickening in our spirits to get a\ncashier\u2019s check for the young man\u2019s rent and take it to him.  The\ncatch was that our rent was due within the next week.  We didn\u2019t have\nenough money at the time to pay our rent, and if we took a thousand dollars\nfrom our account, it would leave us nearly broke.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Nevertheless,\nwe had learned that when Holy Spirit quickens you to do something, and that\n\u201csomething\u201d leaves you in a state of immediate want or need, you still do\nit.  This is an exercise in believing and knowing in the core of your\nbeing that, as my Dad used to say, \u201cwhat God orders, He pays\nfor!\u201d  When the Lord gives you specific instruction to give, and \u2013 in\nthe natural \u2013 that giving leaves you in a precarious position, you still do it!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\ntook the cashier\u2019s check over to the young couple.  It was a\ntestimony to them, and it was an experience in watching God meet our needs as\nwell.  That event caused the young couple to make their own\ncommitment to the Lord.  Less than 48 hours after that act of\nobedience, I received an unexpected financial bonus that enabled us to meet our\nneeds as well.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nend of that story was that the young man graduated at the top of the\nclass.  He had a job in broadcasting waiting for him when he\ngraduated and went on to become one of Alaska\u2019s premier morning radio hosts.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

My\nsecond example comes in the form of a soldier who was caught in the midst of\nenemy crossfire in Vietnam.  For the sake of this story, I will\nsimply refer to him as Kevin.  Caught in a situation where his\nbuddies were dropping all around him, he prayed, \u201cLord, if you get me out of\nthis alive and out of this war alive, I will do whatever you ask of me, I\u2019ll go\nwherever you tell me to go, and I will serve you with everything I have.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\u2019ve\nall heard of \u201cfoxhole stories\u201d before where people in crisis make promises to\nGod, and then when the time comes, forget all about their commitments to\nGod.  For reasons no one could explain at the time, the crossfire\nsuddenly stopped and everything became quiet.  Kevin waited for a bit\nbefore he and his remaining buddies were able to get out of there\nalive.  Eventually, he returned home from Vietnam, alive and in good\nhealth.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Here\u2019s\nwhere things get interesting.  Not long after returning from Vietnam,\nKevin learned that he had inherited great wealth from an aunt who had passed\naway while he was in Vietnam.  He found himself the possessor of\nmillions of dollars, multi-million dollar homes, a chauffeur-driven Rolls\nRoyce, yachts \u2013 you get the picture.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Two\nyears into enjoying his life of luxury, he Lord tapped him on the shoulder and\nreminded him of the promise he made in Vietnam.  Up to this time,\nKevin had pretty much forgotten his promise to the Lord, and was simply in\ncruise mode.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

When\nhe heard the voice and quickening of Holy Spirit, he woke up with a start and\nsaid, \u201cLord, I made a promise to you, and I\u2019ll keep it.  Whatever you\nask of me, I\u2019ll do.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nresponse he heard in his spirit was, \u201cSell all thou hast and come and follow\nme.\u201d  He shared his story with our friends about three years later\nand told us that it took him two years to liquidate everything.  He\nsold off the houses, the cars, the yachts, gave away the tens (if not hundreds)\nof millions of dollars he had, gave away all of his personal possessions down\nto the clothes on his back and a couple of extra changes of clothes which he\ncarried, along with his Bible, in a backpack.  He began hitchhiking\nall over the nation as the Lord directed him, knowing that he was on a specific\nmission.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Our\nfriend, Dave, was working with Hitachi at the time and traveling all over the\nnation, selling and designing large computer systems and servers for major\ncorporations.  One day, driving between Spokane and Yakima\n(Washington), he saw Kevin standing by the side of the freeway with his thumb\nout in the universal hitchhiking sign.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

He\nstopped to pick up Kevin.  Kevin said to Dave, \u201cThis is a meeting\nthat God has ordained.  He knew that you were going to come this way\ntoday and he positioned me in such a way that you would stop and pick me up.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

If\nI said that Dave was astonished, it would be an\nunderstatement!  Kevin continued, \u201cThe Lord sent me to you with a\nmessage that you\u2019ve been pondering over, and you need a confirmation of that\nmessage.\u201d  By now, Kevin really had Dave\u2019s attention.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u201cOK,\nI\u2019m listening,\u201d he said.  \u201cSell all thou hast and come and follow\nme.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Dave\nwas frustrated to the nth degree.  \u201cWhaddaya<\/span>\nmean, \u2018sell all thou hast?  Everything I have is God\u2019s to begin\nwith.  I don\u2019t have anything left to sell.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nanswer was simple, and it was one I had shared on several occasions with Dave\nin the weeks leading up to this event.  \u201cYou still haven\u2019t given me\nYOU.  You haven\u2019t sold your reasoning, your human logic, your<\/span> trying to figure out things and trying to walk with me\naccordingly.  I want you \u2013 NOT your logic, and not your reasoning!\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

When\nthey got to Yakima, Kevin said to Dave, \u201cYou can drop me off at the\njail.  I\u2019ll sleep there tonight, and tomorrow the Lord will place me\nin someone else\u2019s path to share with them.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This\nstory has some many ramifications that I don\u2019t even begin to be able to explore\ntoday, but the end of it was that after several years of traveling like this\nand being obedient to the Lord, everything he thought he\u2019d sold off or given\naway came back to him multiplied many times over.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Kevin\nhad grasped the principle of pure obedience.  He realized that all of\nhis wealth and belongings were nothing more than \u201cstuff!\u201d  To walk in\nunion with the Lord was far more important than trying to hang onto material\ngoods, and because of his obedience in seeking the Lord and His will as his\npriority in life, the Lord rewarded him ion<\/span> the years\nto come with more than he could possibly imagine.  Meanwhile, God was\nhis ONLY source of supply, his ONLY source of provision, his food, his water,\nhis clothes, his having a roof over his head each night.  Kevin had\nlearned and walked Matthew 6:33 as literally as anyone I\u2019ve ever known.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\ncontinue to scratch the surface of these principles.  Next week we\nwill take a Thanksgiving break to share some different things.  We\nwill get back to this Psalm 23 Adventure in a few weeks.<\/span><\/a><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n
