ANOTHER COFFEE BREAK: THE PSALM 23 ADVENTURE, Part 4<\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div>

 <\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Some of what I've been sharing with you really cuts across some\nfolks' doctrinal understanding.  There is no intention to\ndeliberately offend anyone or try to create controversy, but the truth of God's\nWord is nothing more and nothing less than THE TRUTH!<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

What we are sharing and discussing in this series should be a\nrevelation to many believers, and it is my hope that the truth of God's Word\ncuts through religious doctrines and man-made traditions that have no basis in\nthe revelation of Jesus Christ.  The Adventure of the 23rd Psalm is\nreally a revelation of the character and nature of the Lord Jesus Christ\n..... <\/span><\/b>as He develops that character and nature in us!<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

You see, Truth is not just a collection of facts, historical\nreference, quoting some Scriptures -- especially out of context, or a\ncompilation of events.  The Enemy seeks to distort Truth by taking\nfacts and twisting them out of their original context -- and he especially\nlikes to do it with the Word -- hence some of the crazy, non-biblical doctrines\nthat have crept into the body of Christ.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That said, let's move on with our continuation of <\/span><\/b>I shall not want<\/span>!<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

When\nAdam and Eve ate of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, they\nsurrendered control of the Garden -- no, scratch that -- they surrendered\ncontrol of the Earth to Satan.  Genesis 3:24 tells us that God <\/span>"drove out <\/span>(of the Garden) <\/i><\/b><\/span>the<\/span> <\/span><\/i><\/b>man, and He placed at the east of the Garden of Eden Cherubims<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/i><\/b>(angelic creatures\nwho normally ministered to God), <\/i><\/b><\/span>and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the Tree of\nLife."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

(I've\noften considered that the region today is still marked by the "flaming\nsword."  Modern-day Iraq is in a portion of what once was the Garden\nof Eden; and the region is burnt to a crisp with daytime temperatures that\noften reach and exceed 145 degrees Fahrenheit.)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Well,\nwe've sidetracked our discussion on "I shall not want" long\nenough.  I wanted to give you this picture of the Garden, however, so that\nyou would understand God's concept of "blessing" and abundance.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This\nis the picture we need to have when we visualize the covenant God made with\nAbraham -- and then extrapolate that covenant to what David understood when he\nsaid, <\/span>"I shall not want."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/span>Consider Abraham.  He was easily\namong the wealthiest men on the planet -- if not THE\nwealthiest.  Abraham lacked for nothing.  He enjoyed the\nblessing of God in a dimension that no human being prior had ever experienced\n-- save perhaps for Adam.  Because God made a covenant with Abraham that\nwould last throughout eternity, that blessing passed on to Isaac -- who became\neven more wealthy and powerful than Abraham -- and then on to Jacob. \nJacob's wealth and abundance virtually doubled that of his father, Isaac, and\n-- like his father and grandfather before him -- he became a power to be\nreckoned with in his world.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Jacob's\nseed -- the nation of Israel -- saw the covenant God made with Abraham renewed,\nand the promises God made to Abraham amplified with great specificity.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Take\na look at Deuteronomy 28.  Before we start, notice that it begins with\nLordship and Shepherding.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

"And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt<\/span>\nhearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all\nhis commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set\nthee on high above all nations of the earth:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Is\nthat not the establishing of Lordship and Shepherding?  The promise\nand the Covenant follows our sensitivity to hear His voice, and our diligence\nto observe AND DO that which He instructs!  You see what happens when\nwe establish His Lordship and Shepherding in our lives.   I\nrefer to this as the \u201cI shall not want prophecy.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u201cAnd all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee,\nif thou shalt<\/span> hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy\nGod.  Blessed shalt<\/span> thou be in the city, and\nblessed shalt<\/span> thou be in the field.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

"Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of\nthy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine<\/span>, and the flocks of thy sheep.  Blessed shall be\nthy basket and thy store.  Blessed shalt<\/span> thou be\nwhen thou comest<\/span> in, and blessed shalt<\/span>\nthou be when thou goest<\/span> out.  Blessed shalt<\/span> thou be when thou comest<\/span>\nin, and blessed shalt<\/span> thou be when thou goest<\/span> out.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u201cThe LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy\nstorehouses, and in all that thou settest<\/span> thine<\/span> hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which\nthe LORD thy God giveth<\/span> thee.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

"The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself,\nas he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt<\/span> keep the\ncommandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways.  And all people of\nthe earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they\nshall be afraid of thee.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u201cAnd the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit\nof thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in\nthe land which the LORD sware<\/span> unto thy fathers to\ngive thee.  The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the\nheaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work\nof thine<\/span> hand: and thou shalt<\/span>\nlend unto many nations, and thou shalt<\/span> not borrow.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u201cAnd the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and\nthou shalt<\/span> be above only, and thou shalt<\/span> not be beneath;<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/span>if that\nthou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee\nthis day, to observe and to do them: And thou shalt<\/span>\nnot go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right\nhand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Is\nthere anything in this covenant that says anything OTHER than "<\/span>I shall not want"<\/span>?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\ncan go through this list point by point -- and maybe we'll do that a bit later\n-- but literally every aspect of life is covered in this promise: health,\nstrength, vitality, the work of your hands, your bank account and investments,\nyour personal prestige and recognition in the world around you, your daily\nmovements, your travels, your land, your possessions, your children, your\ngrandchildren (and the generations to follow), the ground you work, your cattle\nand your sheep -- and it goes on.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This\nis a perfect description of "nothing lacking, nothing missing, nothing\nbroken."  We see the picture of being in authority, having the power\nthe accomplish all you set your hand to, being the lender (or the giver) rather\nthan being one who needs to borrow in order to accomplish your goals. \nWhatever you can imagine, you can accomplish.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

David\nclearly understood the promises of God.  He clearly understood covenant,\nand he knew the covenant nature of God.  The promises God made to Israel\nwere wrapped on both ends with His Lordship in their lives.  God had begun\nHis covenant promises to Israel,<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

"if thou shalt<\/span> hearken\ndiligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his\ncommandments which I command thee this day<\/u>, that the LORD thy God will set thee\non high above all nations of the earth."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Then\nHe wrapped it up with, <\/span>"And the LORD shall\nmake thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt<\/span>\nbe above only, and thou shalt<\/span> not be beneath; if\nthat thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God<\/u>, which I\ncommand thee this day, to observe and to do them: And thou shalt<\/span>\nnot go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right\nhand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

God's\ncovenant requires obedience on our part.  That's not something difficult\nto do.  Once Jesus Christ becomes Lord of our lives and Shepherd, we have\ngiven Him total governance.  From that point, the whole of the Law becomes\nsimple.  Instead of a raft of commandments to follow, we really only have\none; and that commandment is summed up in one word: LOVE.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\nlove the Lord, and we express His love through us to our brothers and sisters\nand the world around us.  It's so simple that the simplicity of it gets\nlost sometimes for folks who are caught up in religion.  You'll hear me\nsay this over and over again, but religion always<\/b> gives\nconsent to the devil and his words.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

You\nsee, the devil wants your mouth.  He wants you to confess something that\nis in opposition to the Word of God.  He wants you to confess something\nthat is contrary to the Lordship of Jesus Christ operating in your life. \nIf he can succeed in getting that kind of opposing confession from you, he can\nsuccessfully rob you of the benefits of God's Covenant with you through Jesus\nChrist.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Kenneth\nCopeland, Jesse Duplantis<\/span> and a host of others have\nmade a statement that I positively agree with.  It is truth!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

WE\nCANNOT HAVE WHAT WE SPEAK AGAINST!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Satan\nknows that.  Thus, if he can convince you, or trick you into confessing\nthat you "have" cancer, or the flu, or arthritis, or Alzheimer's, or\nsome other disease or affliction, he's just gotten you to confess the opposite\nof what God's Word says.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

There\u2019s\na catch here.  What folks often forget \u2014 and believers especially \u2014\nis that there is a striking contrast between facts and truth!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Years\nago I began writing a book titled, THE PURPOSE OF EKKLESIA<\/i>.  In\nthe preface to that book I wrote the following:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

"Truth"<\/span><\/b> is not a collection\nof facts.  And yet it can be.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

"Truth"<\/span><\/b> is neither the\nreciting of history, nor a compilation of events which have\noccurred.  And yet it can be.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

"Truth"<\/span><\/b> is not the\nquoting of scriptures.  And yet it can be.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Facts.  History.  Scriptures.  They\ncan all be a portion of truth, but in and of themselves, they are not<\/b> --\nby any stretch of the imagination -- truth.<\/b><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Facts\ncan be twisted by The Spirit of Error and become a lie.  History can\nbe distorted -- and often is -- so that historical facts can be taken out of\ncontext to present a false picture.  Personal experience, left to\nstand on its own, can bring wrong conclusions.  Scriptures can be\nquoted to support virtually any stance one desires to take.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Truth<\/span><\/b>, therefore, is not\njust facts, history, personal experience, or scriptures.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Truth<\/span><\/b> -- the genuine\narticle -- can only come by The Spirit of Tru<\/b>th, which is one of\nthe seven Spirits of God.  The Spirit of Truth<\/b> takes\nfacts, takes history, takes events which have occurred -- either in our lives,\nor in the lives of others -- or, takes verses of scripture and applies them in\na manner which brings life.  The Spirit of Truth<\/b> takes\nthat life and transmits it into the core of our beings.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Satan\nhas been a past master at utilizing facts, factual events, history -- and\nespecially Scripture -- in order to pervert the truth.  He especially\ndelights in making those facts, those events, those scriptures, a lie which\nwill divert us from the purposes and heart's desire of the Lord Jesus Christ by\nsimply adding his "twist" to them, or -- as he did with Adam and Eve\nin the Garden -- causing us to see facts in such a manner as to question the\npurpose, the integrity, and the desire of the Lord.  Witness, for\nexample, the way in which he twisted scriptures in order to tempt Jesus while\nHe was in the wilderness.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Are\nyou seeing what I\u2019m getting at?  When the confession that comes out\nof our mouth is predicated on feelings, it is generally based in emotion and\nhas little to do with the reality of what the Lord has said, is saying, and\nwill say to us!  Thus, when we focus on what the doctor says, or what\nwe hear with our ears coming out of the mouths of people around us \u2014 including\nthe news media or articles we see \u2014 our focus is NOT on Truth<\/b>!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I\nremind you that everything we are discussing is predicated on, <\/span>\u201cI shall not want.\u201d<\/span>  That includes our health,\nand our physical well being.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\nwill wrap up this part of the Psalm 23 Adventure next week and move on to the\nthird part of our transformation.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n
