Greetings, salutations, blessings, etc.! Good Morning! Ready for\nthe day? OK. So grab your coffee, folks. Yeah, I know. Gotta<\/span>\nfinish letting it steep so it has the right taste, and all of that. I\u2019ll wait.<\/span><\/b> <\/span><\/b>Ready?<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Remember\nthe <\/span>\u201c\u2026according to its kind..\u201d<\/span> statements that recur throughout\nthe account of Creation in the book of Genesis? That\u2019s the law of Genetics. You\ndon\u2019t put two people together and get something different, you get another\nperson. And it requires male and female \u2013 not male and male or female and\nfemale.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

To\nquote a hilarious brother in the Lord, Jesse Duplantis<\/span>,\n\u201cGod didn\u2019t create Adam and Steve, He created Adam and Eve.\u201d He didn\u2019t create\nEve and Esther, He created Adam and Eve. You know what I\u2019m saying, right?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I\nappeared several years ago during a 700 Club segment with a geneticist whose\nname (I\u2019m sorry to say) I\u2019ve forgotten. He was the author of several books on\ngenetics, and a scientific researcher with some history under his belt. What I\nremember the most about the discussion was his statement that \u201cno respectable\ngeneticist tolerates the theory of evolution. The laws of genetics clearly\nrefute evolution.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

But\nwe\u2019re not here today to discuss those laws of genetics. I want to talk about an\nentirely different aspect. This is an aspect that affects every single one of\nus today.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let\nme illustrate.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Warren\n\u201cBones\u201d Bonesteel<\/span> and I were discussing some time ago\nour respective family histories. In fact, he posted on his website some of the\nresearch he had done on his own family lineage. We got into some of the family\ncharacteristics that have been passed down.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I've\nshared some of this in time past but for example, for something like a thousand\nyears of the documented and recorded history of the Capener<\/span>\nfamily, we have had ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and musicians in\nevery single generation. I can go back, for example to 1523, when my umptieth<\/span> great-grandfather, John Capener<\/span>,\nwas one of the first (if not the first) vicar of St. George\u2019s Cathedral in Brockworth<\/span>, England. For something like 400 consecutive\nyears, I\u2019m told that a Capener<\/span> served in a pastoral\ncapacity in that church.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

My\ngreat-great-great grandfather, Daniel Capener<\/span>, was a\nvicar there, as well as being Chief Musician to the English court. His son,\nalso named John Capener<\/span>, was both a minister of the\nGospel, a musician, songwriter, served as a musician in the court of Queen\nVictoria, and married one of her ladies-in-waiting. He shortly thereafter left\nEngland with his brother, William, and moved to the United States, where he pastored<\/span> a Presbyterian church. He ultimately moved to\nWisconsin (after another pastoral stint in Cleveland) where he began farming, and opened up a violin shop. One of my cousins in\nMichigan still has one of the violins that he made.\n<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

One\nof John\u2019s sons, Alfred (my great-grandfather), ministered in a Congregational\nchurch. His son, Howard, ministered in a Methodist church. His son, Alvin (my\nfather) built and pastored<\/span> numerous churches for the\nAssemblies of God throughout Alaska, along with a church in Ilwaco<\/span>,\nWashington (and I've shared some of those stories with you in past Coffee\nBreaks). I\u2019ve been in the ministry for most of my life.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

You\nget the picture, don\u2019t you? Both natural and spiritual genetics are in play in\nour family. Although I can\u2019t prove it yet with any documented evidence, family\ntradition suggests that our family descended from Jewish Christians who fled\nthe Roman persecution in the first or second century, along with a fair number\nof other Jewish Christians, and settled in the region of France we know as\nNormandy. My first English ancestor left Normandy to help William the Conqueror\nin his conquest of the British Isles.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

What\nwe do know is that for as many years of documented family history we have on\nhand, there has been a love of the Lord Jesus Christ.  That is spiritual.\nThere is a blessing \u2013 an aspect of spiritual DNA \u2013 that has passed on down with\neach successive generation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In\nthe natural, the fact that each successive generation has been musical \u2013 and as\nfar back as I can look, we can see musicians of great skill and repute,\nsongwriters, composers and instrument makers \u2013 is a part of our family\u2019s\nnatural genetics. Although I was never much at the violin, I have cousins whose\ntalents and skills equal the best violinists I\u2019ve ever heard in my life. I play\nlots of instruments, but my forte is the classical or flamenco guitar. My\nyounger brother, Howard, is likewise a versatile and brilliant musician. Those\nmusical skills are trained and practiced, to be sure, but there is a genesis in\nour DNA that made it all possible. Were it not for the blessing of the Lord,\nand the laws of genetics that have provided gifted abilities, you wouldn\u2019t see\nthose skills.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Consider,\nfor a moment, the blessing that gets passed on down from generation to\ngeneration: a blessing that comes with that spiritual DNA. I don\u2019t want to take\nthe space here to reprint all of Deuteronomy 28:1-14, but the essence of it is\nthis: if you take heed to the Lord, obey Him, love Him, and follow His\ncommands, you will be blessed in the city, blessed in the field, blessed in\nyour comings and goings. You will see your enemies defeated before you. God\nwill command blessing upon you, upon your warehouses and surpluses, and in all\nyour labors. The Lord will establish you as a holy people to Himself. And so\non, and so on, and so on, for a thousand generations.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Those\nblessings continue on in your generations because of the obedience of your\nforebears. You become the recipient of blessings that you didn\u2019t earn or do\nanything to deserve because of the obedience of your ancestors to the Lord.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\nhave seen it in our family, in generation after generation. The promise of the\nLord to <\/span>\u201cestablish you as a holy people to Himself\u201d<\/span> can easily be\nseen in the successive generations of our family who have been so blessed.\nWhere did it all start? I have no idea at this point, but a thousand\ngenerations \u2013 if you calculate 20 years to a generation \u2013 equals 20,000 years.\nI can track maybe 30 \u2013 40 generations of our family; and it is obvious that the\nblessing of the Lord existed well beyond that period.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It\nis spiritual DNA. It is spiritual genetics. The laws of genetics demand that\neach successive generation reproduces after itself. If the beginning is\nblessing and prosperity, each successive generation is blessing and prosperity.\nIf the beginning is love and honor for the Lord Jesus Christ, each successive\ngeneration holds that same love and honor for Him.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That\u2019s\nnot to take away from individual responsibility in each generation. We all have\nfree choice. We can break the chain of blessing for ourselves by disobedience.\nBy the same token, we can break a chain of curses for ourselves and our\nsuccessive generations through the power and authority of Jesus Christ that\ncomes into our lives and alters our DNA.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Take\na quick look at Deuteronomy 28:15-68. It is an outline of the curses that come\nupon each successive generation through disobedience to God, through hatred and\ndisdain of the Lord Jesus Christ, through the worship of other gods. The list\nof curses is more than three times longer than the list of blessings.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Those\ncurses are equally a part of a person\u2019s DNA \u2013 both natural and spiritual. Your\nlabors are cursed, your storehouses are cursed, your fields are cursed, the\nfruit of your body is cursed, your mind is cursed, you become subject to every\ndisease imaginable, you are liable to become the servant or slave of others,\nworking for a pittance, never prospering financially, etc., etc., etc.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Here\u2019s\nthe catch with the curses, however. Those born into a cursed lineage can sever\nthe curses; and -- under the Law of Moses -- with one exception, the curses\nnever last for more than four generations. The exception is for bastards:\nchildren born out of wedlock. That curse was extended to the tenth generation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Again,\nhowever, it is a curse that can be broken. When it comes to the laws of\nSpiritual Genetics, there is one overriding law that supersedes all\nothers: <\/span>\u201cLove the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy mind,\nand with all thy soul.\u201d<\/span> Do\nthat, and you have the authority available to break every curse inherited from\nprevious generations \u2013 not only for yourself, but also for your children, your\nchildren\u2019s children, and each successive generation thereafter. You have the\nauthority and the empowerment to seize the blessings of God for yourself and\neach successive generation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Consider\neven the fact that before Jesus came with the New Covenant (a Covenant that\nfulfills, surpasses and exceeds that of the Old Covenant with the Law of\nMoses), generational curses were easily broken. Ezekiel takes this up in his\nprophecy.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Ezekiel 18:19-23<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>Yet say ye<\/span>, Why? doth not the son bear\nthe iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and\nright, and<\/i> hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he\nshall surely live. The soul that sinneth<\/span>, it shall\ndie. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the\nfather bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall\nbe upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he\nhath committed<\/u>, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and\nright, he shall surely live, he shall not die<\/u>. All his\ntransgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in\nhis righteousness that he hath done he shall live. Have I any pleasure at all\nthat the wicked should die? saith<\/span> the Lord GOD: and<\/i> not\nthat he should return from his ways, and live?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Thus\nthe laws of Spiritual Genetics apply both under the Law of Moses, AND in the\nNew Covenant we have in Christ Jesus. Let me address, for a moment, an aspect\nof genetics that relates back to what I have shared in previous Coffee Breaks:\nWords!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

When\nI speak, what comes forth from my mouth has creative power. I have the power\nwithin my lips to set events in motion, both creatively and destructively. I\ncan speak blessing to my children \u2013 and I most certainly do, DAILY \u2013 and create\nwithin them the desire to progress in their relationship with the Lord. I can\nbless them, and create within them the ability to prosper, to be in health, and\nto take authority over all of the obstacles they come up against. (I remind you\nof last week's story about our son, Joshua, and the lessons he's been learning\nconcerning his speech.)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

If\nI\u2019m careful in the way I speak, I can set in their DNA the future of their\nchildren, their children\u2019s children, and their children for each successive\ngeneration.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Here\u2019s\nthe opposite site of this quarter.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

If\nI condemn my children for their mistakes, belittle them for their poor\njudgment, criticize the effort they put forth academically, spiritually,\nmaterially and in every other way, I still set in their DNA the future of their\nchildren, their children\u2019s children, etc.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Understand?\nThese are the laws of genetics. These are the laws of spiritual genesis. They\nare immutable. They are unchangeable.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Speak\nblessing, you get blessing. Speak curses, you get curses. Speak life, you get\nlife. Speak health, you get health. Speak wholeness, you get wholeness. Speak\ndiscouragement, you get quitters. Speak doubt, you get unbelief. Speak\ncriticism and belittlement, you destroy the soul.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

One\nof the things I\u2019ve discovered in the many years I\u2019ve walked with the Lord is\nthis: most folks who suffer from various diseases, chronic diseases, poverty or\njust continuous financial problems in general, do so because the words out of\ntheir mouths bring these things upon them. That, too, is genetic.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Lest\nyou think I\u2019ve totally lost it, let me explain. When it comes to genetics,\nthere is always cause and effect. When it comes to the words of your mouth, it\nis generally genetic. When it comes to finances, health, etc., there are always\nthe causes, and the effect.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

How\nmany times have you heard someone say, \u201cWell, my grandfather was a diabetic, my\nfather is diabetic, so I reckon I\u2019m going to have diabetes.\u201d It\u2019s nuts! People\nspeak curses to themselves because they believe that natural genetics plays a\nmore important role in their health than spiritual genetics. Thus, they\nperpetuate the genesis of sicknesses and diseases in their lives by natural and<\/i><\/b><\/span> spiritual genetics.\nThey create for themselves the conditions that bring about those diseases by\nspeaking them into existence.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

There\nare many laws concerning finances, of course, but so many folks plan on poverty\nand financial problems. Despite the fact that there are spiritual laws that\npertain to our finances that we can all implement, people don\u2019t take advantage\nof them. They say to themselves, \u201cI just can\u2019t get a handle on my finances. I\njust can\u2019t seem to get ahead. I\u2019m always broke. Guess I\u2019m doomed!\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

There\nare lessons to be learned where basic financial principles are concerned, to be\nsure, but there is absolutely no reason for any Christian to live in poverty or\nto live on the bleeding edge financially when the blessings of God have been\npromised to His people.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Della\nand I have learned through practical application what the apostle Paul meant\nwhen he said, <\/span>\u201cI have learned both how to be abased, and I know how to\nabound.\u201d<\/span> When\nwe resigned our positions in Alaska before leaving for Post Falls, Idaho (I was\nthe Chief Engineer for the FOX television station in Anchorage, and Della was\nboth the manager of Zale's\u2019 largest jewelry store in the state, as well as\nbeing the assistant regional manager) we had been earning well in excess of\n$100,000 per year. Trouble was, we were struggling financially to make ends\nmeet. The Lord began to teach us some fundamentals that absolutely reversed\ncourse for us.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

For\nthe next five years, we lived on a guaranteed income of $200 per month while we\ntraveled and ministered throughout the northwest and Canada. We lived better\nthan we had ever lived. We were able to get totally out of debt, purchase a\nCadillac (it was used but had less than 40,000 miles on it) for cash, and began\nto clean up old debts filed in bankruptcy when I lost a business. One of the\nmajor contributing factors to our turnaround was that we changed the way we\nspoke. We stopped talking about how broke we were. We stopped talking about\nalways being in debt. We started confessing what God\u2019s word said about being blessed,\nprospering and being in health.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

What\nwe speak, how we speak, and what we believe when we speak literally sets in\nmotion some of the most creative power in the universe. We were created in the\nimage of God. Part of that creation includes His power to speak things into\nexistence.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Once\nagain, quoting from Proverbs 18:21, <\/span>\u201cDeath and life are in\nthe power of the tongue\u2026..\u201d<\/span> There is a spiritual genesis to the words we\nspeak.  It\u2019s time we understand the laws of genetics and begin to apply\nthem with that understanding and wisdom in our lives.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n
