ANOTHER COFFEE BREAK: A REVELATION OF GOD'S GLORY, Part 9<\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div>

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We have a lot of ground to cover today, so let's get this\ndiscussion started.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Once\nagain, let's take a look at the amplified translation of Revelation 3:12:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

He that overcomes [the temptation to rest on previous overcoming\nand past victories] will I make to be a support (and a symbol of the Glory) in\nthe dwelling place of Yod<\/span> Hey Vav<\/span>\nHey (Elohim<\/span>), and from that place of dwelling there\nwill be no reason [or cause] to ever leave; and I will engrave within and upon\nhim the very nature, the character, the authority, the makeup, the very essence\nof Yod<\/span> Hey Vav<\/span> Hey (Elohim<\/span>), and the very nature, the character, the authority,\nthe makeup and the very essence of the city of Yod<\/span>\nHey Vav<\/span> Hey (Elohim<\/span>), which\nis the new Jerusalem, which descends [to the earth] out of Heaven from my Yod<\/span> Hey Vav<\/span> Hey (Elohim<\/span>); and I will engrave within and upon him my new (and\ncompleted) nature, character, authority, makeup and very essence.<\/span>  <\/span>(Revelation 3:12, RAC Translation and Amplification)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And,\nagain, here is the corresponding and confirming verse from Revelation 21:2: <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And I, John, saw the holy, consecrated and set apart city [of\nmany people], the recently made and unprecedented Jerusalem, the city of double\npeace, descending out of Heaven [to the earth] from Yod<\/span>\nHey Vav<\/span> Hey, made ready as the betrothed Bride,\nadorned, ornamented and embellished with honor for her husband-to-be.  <\/span>(Revelation 21:2, RAC\nTranslation and Amplification)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

When\nyou put these two passages together, the picture is quite clear.  Our<\/span> <\/span>onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\n<\/span>--\nnature, character and makeup -- is being transformed into that of the Bride of\nChrist.  We are being changed into His image, His makeup, His nature, His\ncharacter and being imbued with His authority.  Consider this.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

From\na purely legal perspective (and I use this term differentiating between\n"legal" and "experiential") once we accept the Lord Jesus\nChrist, once we are baptized in water, and once we are baptized in the Holy\nSpirit and begin the daily process of being infilled<\/span>\nby Holy Spirit we are "sons (<\/span>teknon<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>) of God," heirs\nand joint-heirs with Jesus Christ.  Being "legally" "sons\nof God" with all of the characteristics and inheritances that go with it,\nand coming to that place experientially are two different things.  Between\n"legal" and "experiential" is a series of processes,\nchanges to our nature, willingly subjecting ourselves to the "crucible"\n(II Timothy 2:15 -- see below), and overcoming every obstacle that stands in\nthe way of intimacy with the Lord Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nGlory of God is not given to those who do not overcome.  The throne of God\nis not given to those who do not overcome.  We've quoted this before, but\nhere we are again:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I AM<\/span> <\/span>Yod<\/span><\/i><\/span> Hey Vav<\/span>\nHey<\/span><\/i>: that is my<\/span> <\/span>shem<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> <\/span>(<\/span>onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>) nature and character,\nmy makeup, my authority and personality: the weight of my glory and honor, my\nsplendor and light will NEVER be given to strangers \u2014 to  anyone not of\nmy family<\/u> \u2014 neither will I allow My Praise, My renown and fame (with the\nsongs thereof) to be given to idols or graven images (other objects of focus,\nprime attention or worship).<\/span> <\/span> (Isaiah 42:8, RAC Translation and Amplification)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Do\nyou see it?  The Glory does not come to anyone who is not of God's\nfamily!  For that matter, neither is the throne given to anyone who is not\nof God's family.  Consider the following -- and this is the eighth time we\nsee the phrase in Revelation, "to him (or he) that overcometh<\/span>."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Revelation\n21:7:  <\/span>He that overcometh<\/span> shall inherit all\nthings; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Watch\nhow this amplifies from the Greek:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

He who subdues, conquers, overcomes and gains the victory\n[holding fast in faith -- even in the face of death -- over every obstacle,\nover all opposition, and over the accuser of the brethren] shall become My\nheir, and inherit the whole [of my Kingdom, and all that pertains]; and I will\nbe his God, and he shall be my<\/span> <\/span>(<\/span>huios<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>-- <\/span><\/i><\/b>no\nlonger teknon<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/span>)<\/span> <\/span>fully-grown, fully-matured son, released and sent forth with my\nfull authority and backing.<\/span>  (Revelation 21:7, RAC Translation &\nAmplification)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

To\nthis we add the requirement as it is spelled out in II Timothy 2:15:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Be instantly responsive to the Lord, making yourself available\nto Him in the midst of the crucible, a tried and tested laborer who has no fear\nof being examined \u2013 one who, by virtue of God\u2019s testing and the time spent in\nthe crucible with Him, knows the proven Word of Truth. <\/span> <\/span>(II\nTimothy 2:15, RAC Translation & Amplification)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

THAT,\nmy friends, is where overcoming takes place.  When we are in a crucible --\nwhether that crucible is the vessel that heats precious metals to the boiling\nplace so that the dross and contaminants can be removed, or whether that\ncrucible is the kind used by the apothecary when herbs and medicinal foods are\nbeing ground down to a fine powder to use as a medication for healing -- the\nprocess is the same.  We are being tried, tested, put under extreme\npressure, put in the fire, ground down, etc., etc., and it is our responses in\nthat place that produce the necessary overcoming AND shorten the time required\nto be in that place.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It's\nimportant to clarify one thing when we talk about the crucible.  It is NOT\nHoly Spirit putting us through this process.  The crucible comes by virtue\nof the pressure that occurs when our old flesh nature rebels and resists the\ncorrective processes necessary for us to conform to the image of the Lord Jesus\nChrist.  You understand, don't you, that when we respond to the call of\nthe Bridegroom, Satan absolutely DOES NOT want the Bridegroom to receive that\nBride He has paid the ultimate price to receive.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Satan\nwill throw every obstacle conceivable in our path to stop us or slow us\ndown.  We live in a world that has bowed to demonic forces.  Those\ndemonic forces have so influenced our society and the church world in general\nthat when we begin to respond to the true call and the yearning of our\nBridegroom-to-be to be joined to Him as His counterpart, everything that\nsurrounds us and influences our daily lives opposes that call!  When we\nrespond to the call of the Bridegroom, we run into every imaginable pressure to\nstop, turn aside or contaminate our responses.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nstructured church world -- despite the fact that Holy Spirit has used it\nthroughout the centuries in spite of its errors and contamination -- wants us\nto bow to the traditions of man.  The structure (and you understand that\nI'm not condemning or speaking out against folks who are in churches) itself\nhas become such an aberration to the plan of the Lord Jesus Christ for intimacy\nthat it scarcely resembles the picture of Ekklesia<\/span>\nordained by the Lord in the first place.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\nwere NEVER called to "church!"  We were never called to\nreligion.  We were never called to formalism and ritual.  We were\nnever called to the Law.  We were called to the Lord Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

(The\nLaw, by the way, was given as a shadow of the things to come.  It was ONLY\na shadow -- NOT the reality.  The reality is being in Christ, and Him\nbeing in us.  When we are in Christ, the Law is automatically\nfulfilled.  Jesus is our arbitrator, our go-between to say to Father,\n"he (she) is covered by the blood, and there is no penalty of\ndeath."  I know that there are those who get stuck with the\nlegalistic performance of the Sabbath, but they fail to understand that Jesus\nis our Sabbath rest.  And I remind you of what Paul writes to the\nColossians.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Colossians 2:16-17, 20-23<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span> <\/span>Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in\nrespect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days<\/i>: Which\nare a shadow of things to come; but the body is<\/i> of Christ<\/span><\/u>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the\nworld, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, (Touch\nnot; taste not; handle not;  Which all are to perish with the using;)\nafter the commandments and doctrines of men?  Which things have indeed a\nshow of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not\nin any honour<\/span> to the satisfying of the flesh.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Have\nI been clear?  Good!  We are NOT called to the keeping of the\nLaw.  We are called to intimacy in Christ Jesus.  If that intimacy\nexists and is a reality in our daily walk with Him, every last aspect of the\nLaw and its requirements have been and continue to be met.)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In\ncase you need an illustration of the picture of the crucible, let me give you a\nretranslated and amplified picture taken from the Song of Solomon, Chapter 1,\nverse 6.  As noted previously, the Song of Solomon is back to back Hebrew\nmetaphors, most of which get lost in our normal word-for-word\ntranslations.  I discovered many years ago that these metaphors contain\nsuch spectacular depth that I couldn't just leave it alone. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\npreface to the following verse was the questioning of the young maidens as to\nwhat caused the Shulamite<\/span> to be chosen instead of\nthem  (and they all had the normal period of preparation to be presented\nbefore the king).<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Song of Solomon 1:6<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>\n<\/span>Because you normally expect a woman who is taken in marriage to\nhave been prepared indoors away from the sun with oils, spices and perfumes for\nweeks and months, you look on me with shock because my skin is deeply tanned,\ndarkened by exposure to the sun.  Ignore that.  My preparation came\nanother way.  Instead of scrubbing my skin, washing it, and rubbing it\nwith oils and spices, my spirit and inner being have been scrubbed through the\nwashing of trying experiences.  For years have I been in the furnace of\naffliction with my supposed friends and family.  They hated me.  They\nwere angry and jealous of me.  My family thought to rid themselves of my\npresence by forcing me to tend the vineyards.  I was made vulnerable to\nwild animals, thieves and robbers.  They exposed me to the elements of\nnature -- the storms, the wind and rain, and the hot sun.  I became\nresponsible for work my brothers were supposed to do.  Because I became\nresponsible for the keeping of several vineyards, I could not keep up with all\nof them; and consequently my own vineyard fell into neglect.  My\nreputation as a person of integrity suffered with it.  The constant\nexposure to danger and hard work, the attendant problems, and watching God's\nprovision and deliverance through those years developed something in my spirit\nmore important to the king than scrubbed skin, olive oil and spices.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

You\nget the picture, don't you?  The Shulamite's<\/span>\nchoosing by Solomon wasn't just based on her outer appearance, or the normal\nadornments that came with the preparation to meet him.  She was chosen\nbecause her character and nature and makeup were formed in the midst of trial\nand tribulation and fire.  What Solomon saw in her was everything that\nwould make her to be his perfect counterpart.  She was ready to become his\nqueen.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

You\nunderstand that the entire picture of the Song of Solomon is a prophetic\npicture of the preparation of us as the Bride of Christ for our Bridegroom,\nright?  The Song of Solomon is easily the most intimate and graphic\nportrayal of the romancing that has been going on between the Lord and us as\nHis intended.  Holy Spirit is the Paraklete<\/span> Who\nhas been preparing, processing, instructing and correcting those areas of our\nlives that need to be formed, conformed, and metamorphosed back into the very\nnature, the character, the makeup, the personality and the very essence of the\nLord Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And\nthat brings us back to the prophecy and the promise given to the overcomer<\/span> in Revelation 3:12.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nvery first aspect of the change of our onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> is that we will have the\ncharacter and nature of Father infused into our beings.  Let's not forget\nthat the beginning place for this to happen took place when we were baptized in\nwater.  The old DNA of our flesh existence was buried.  We were\nresurrected and raised to new life in Christ Jesus, and the DNA of Father\nbecame our DNA -- legally!  The command that Paul gives us in II Timothy\n2:15 becomes our requirement for what we now have in a legal or forensic sense\nto become practical and experiential.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Remember! \nThe promise of this onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\ntransformation is made to the overcomer<\/span>!  I\nwon't revisit that overcoming process again other than to remind you that this\npicture of overcoming began with the letter to Ephesus and has taken us through\nsix successive areas of overcoming -- each one critical to our transformation,\neach one critical to our being conformed to the image of the firstborn Son, the\nLord Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

With\nthe change that takes place in and to us when we have Father's onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>, we\nare a long way down the road to seeing His Glory revealed in us.  but this\nisn't the end of the ongoing change.  The very next promise is that we\nwill have the onoma<\/span> -- the nature, the character, the\npersonality, the very essence -- of the Bride of Christ.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Remember\nthe unique character of Eve and how she was the fulfillment of Adam? \nRemember the way in which she had Adam's DNA, his very essence as part of her\nmakeup?  That's the promise that's being made to this same overcoming\ngroup as epitomized in the letter to Philadelphia.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\nwill come back to that part of the discussion next week, and take this the next\nstep.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n
