ANOTHER COFFEE BREAK: MATHEMATICAL METAPHORS, Part 2<\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div>

 <\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Continuing where we left off last week, we consider the number\n12 in the picture of the Bride of Christ -- the number of Ekklesia<\/span>,\nthe number of preparation, and the number of governmental authority.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Last\nweek, we said that the New Jerusalem does not only consist of Jews. \nRepresenting the call to, and gathering from, the nations are the twelve\nfoundation stones, and on them the names of the twelve apostles who made up\nthat first Ekklesia<\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\ndual groups of 144,000 represent the two Brides \u2013 now made One.  The\nsignificance of the number, 144, is that it is 12 X 12; that is, a finished, a\ncompleted, a fully tested and tried people.  The work of the Paraklete<\/span> in Ekklesia<\/span> has been\naccomplished.  The time of Ekklesia<\/span> has come to\nan end, and the finished Bride has been joined to her Bridegroom.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

If\nyou will recall the vision of Zechariah, he saw the Golden Candlestick between\ntwo olive trees.  When he asked the angel of the Lord what the two olive\ntrees represented, the angel replied,<\/span> <\/span>\u201cThese are the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the\nwhole earth.\u201d<\/span>  <\/span><\/i><\/b>(Zechariah 4:14)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

While\nI recognize that there are other explanations and interpretations of these two\n\u201canointed ones,\u201d I am convinced that they represent the two segments of the\ncompleted and anointed Bride.  The two olive trees are the source of the\nolive oil used in the Golden Candlestick.  The Golden Candlestick was\nalways representative of the flame of love burning night and day for the Bridegroom. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In\nZechariah\u2019s vision, there is only one candlestick \u2013 not two.  The flame of\nthe Bride is one.  But it burns out of the oil from two source olive\ntrees: the Bride taken from Israel, and the Bride taken from among the nations\nof the earth.  The olive is metaphoric of the crushing process which takes\nplace during Ekklesia<\/span> as the Bride is prepared.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

A\ncorollary to this picture is the evidence of the two witnesses who appeared\nwith Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration.  Peter, James and John saw Moses\nand Elijah.  Moses is representative of the Law, and the Bride of\nLaw.  Elijah typifies the Spirit, and the Bride of the Spirit.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

John\nwitnesses this in two other sets of measurements.  The city is 12,000\nfurlongs (roughly a distance of 1,500 miles) long, 12,000 furlongs wide and\n12,000 furlongs high.  Thus you have the twelve multiplied by a thousand\nin triplicate.  It is a square of twelve.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Then\nJohn sees as the wall of the city is measured, 144 cubits thick.  Again he\nis shown the completion of the work of the Paraklete<\/span>\nin Ekklesia<\/span> as the city is protected by a barrier\nmeasuring 12 X 12 cubits (roughly 216 feet) in thickness.  That barrier is\nthe work of Holy Spirit in the erection, the building, and the fortification\nand complete protection wrought in the realm of the spirit within the Bride.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\npicture of the city with its measurements, the makeup of the foundations in\ntwelve specific precious stones, and the representation of the gates in pearls,\nall depict a finished, a glorified, a united people \u2013 all grafted and\nintegrated together -- made One with Jesus Christ.  The study of the New\nJerusalem is a study of the completed Bride.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

There\nis no more Bride of Flesh or a Bride of Law, separated from the Bride of\nSpirit, or the Bride of Love.  Jesus Christ has reconciled all to Himself.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

By\nthis, I do not mean that the flesh and the Law can coexist with the Spirit and\nlove.  They cannot!  This is not a picture of the Bride of flesh\ncontinuing to serve the flesh, or the Bride of Law continuing in her bondage to\nthe Law.  Jesus was the end \u2013 the completion of the Law.  He was its\nobjective!  Jesus, however, has made it possible, and is making it\npossible, for the those who have served the Law and the flesh to have one more\nopportunity to reject them and overcome by the Spirit.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nNew Jerusalem is that finished and prepared people, no longer divided by the\nLaw from relationship with the Bridegroom, and subservient to the flesh. \nFlesh and Law, Love and Spirit have been reconciled together in and through\nJesus Christ.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Do\nyou see it?  Do you see what the Lord is doing among us?  Do you see\nwhy you have been going through the trials and afflictions which never seem to\nend?  Do you see the objective of Jesus Christ, our Bridegroom?  Do\nyou see the two Brides, made One?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

If\nyou do, then you see what John was permitted to see in the Spirit!  If you\ndo, you are seeing the Brightness of the Lamb, the Glory of the Father, the\nsurpassing greatness of His Love toward us.  It has all been wrought\nbecause it is the will of the Father, the desire of the Son, and the purpose of\nthe Holy Spirit.  That will, that desire, that purpose are all summed up\nin Jesus Christ\u2019s inheritance in us!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\npicture of the two Brides really is just one complete story.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Consider\nthis.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Jesus\nChrist has never had two plans.  He has never had a plan \u201cA,\u201d or a plan\n\u201cB\u201d if the first plan did not work.  Israel was not Plan \u201cA.\u201d \nNeither was the \u201cWhosoever Will Bride\u201d an alternative to Israel.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

When\nthe first words of Creation were spoken, Jesus knew, as did the Father and the\nHoly Spirit, that there was only one plan for one Bride and Counterpart.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Adam\nand Eve were not Israelites.  Contrary to the opinion of some, Abraham and\nIsaac were not of the House of Israel, and they were not Jews.  They were\nsimply the forebears.  (I\u2019m not trying to shock you.  I just want you\nto see past Israel to the reality of the Bridegroom\u2019s call.)  God\u2019s\npurpose was never to call Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, and then -- if their\ndescendants missed the boat \u2013 choose an alternative.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Abraham\nwas the father of the Bride.  Period!  He was the father of Isaac,\nand the    grandfather of Jacob, from whom descended the twelve\ntribes of Israel.  He was also the father of those who walk by faith.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nfact that Israel followed after false gods and missed out so drastically in\nunderstanding the purposes of the Lord did not suddenly make them social\noutcasts in God\u2019s sight.  Neither did the Lord make a big mistake in\nchoosing Israel.  It has never been a case of Jew versus Gentile, or\nHebrew versus Heathen.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

From\nthe beginning of time, Adam and Eve, Shem and his wife, Abraham and Sarah,\nJacob and Rachel and Leah, Judah and Tamar (the Canaanite), Salmon and Rahab<\/span> (the Jebusite<\/span>), Boaz and\nRuth (the Moabite) Joshua and his wife, Caleb and his wife, David and Bathsheba\n(the Hittite), Esther and Xerxes (the Persian king) and a slew of others too\nnumerous to recount, were incorporated into a single plan, together with those\nof every generation since the time that Jesus Christ appeared in person.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Adam\nand Eve were the first picture of the Bride in the earth.  Shem and his\nwife were the second.  Isaac and Jacob were the third.  Israel \u2013 the\ntwelve tribes -- was the fourth.  The \u201cWhosoever Will\u201d people are the\nfifth.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Along\nthe way, the Lord incorporated into Israel those whose walk of faith and\nperseverance, love and overcoming exemplified His heart for a single people\ndrawn from every nation on earth.  The picture of Tamar the Canaanite\ngirl, Rahab<\/span> the Jebusite<\/span>\nharlot, and Ruth the Midianite<\/span> who descended from\nLot, Abraham\u2019s nephew, is a  picture of those from condemned nations and\naccursed lifestyles being incorporated into the Bride because of the remarkable\nfaith demonstrated in the face of death.  In them is the most dramatic\ndemonstration of the opportunity Jesus Christ has made \u2013 and is making \u2013 for\nthe Bride of flesh to overcome by faith.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Tamar,\nRahab<\/span>, and Ruth were (ex-) citizens of those nations\nwho had been judged, rejected and cursed by the Lord because of their sins of\nthe flesh and their sins of the spirit.  Yet these three women were\nincorporated not only into the Bride, but into the direct lineage of Jesus\nChrist because of their stupendous demonstrations of faith in God in the face\nof certain death.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That\nwhich occurred on the day of Pentecost was a follow-up to Tamar, to Rahab<\/span>, to Ruth, to Esther.  On that day, there were\ngathered together some seventeen different peoples or nationalities or ethnic\ngroups, all of whom heard the praise and glorifying of Jesus Christ in their\nlanguages as they were uttered by the 120 gathered together in the upper\nroom.  Suddenly the Bride began to exist as Jew and Gentile, Israelite and\nArab, bond and free, male and female without any regard for race, nationality\nor sex.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

From\nthat time to this, there has only been one Bride in the earth.  Even\nthough we all know that there is a very unique calling going forth among the\nJews around the world, and an incredible response taking place even as this\nCoffee Break goes forth, it is happening only because they are being rejoined\nto Jesus Christ as a direct product of His everlasting Covenant.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\ngifts \u2013 which represent His dowry to the Bride \u2013 and His calling of that Bride\nare without repentance.  Even though we have seen what appears to be the\nprocessing of two, there really is only one Bride.  The two parts of the\nBride have become one.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Jesus\nChrist is<\/i> receiving His inheritance!<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let\nme wrap up this discussion with a portion of a poem that I wrote for my wife on\nChristmas of 1995.  It puts things in perspective.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

BRIDEGROOM\nand BRIDE<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That\nwonderful day, those years ago,<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

   \nThe Lord brought a bride -- a counterpart;<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Eons had\npassed, it seemed, while incomplete:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This was a\nday designed to fill the heart.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Destined\nfrom the beginning, an Eve to be:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\npicture of perfection, grace like a dove,<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

She came\nfrom the cry of a being in need:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The Lord\nJesus Christ, who sought for His love.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Flowing in\nbeauty, filled with desire,<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Her whole\nbeing spoke, "I love you! <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I'm\nyours!"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Adam's\nvery essence leaped as he saw<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

God's gift\nto him, his delight, his concours<\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Then as\nthe years turned into millennia<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

A new cry\nwas heard, a cry in the earth:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

A cry for\ncompleteness with<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

She who'd\nbe His,<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

A yearning\nwhich most surely would be brought to the birth.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This\nsecond Adam then went to the cross<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

To buy\nback a people in captivity,<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Created\nfor Him;<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Pierced\nwith a sword thrust into His side,<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

He foresaw\nthe future -- love filled to the brim.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nprocess began, a people in fire:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

A Bride in\nthe making, a Bride to abide;<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Years\nagain became millennia,<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

But to\nJesus \u2018twas irrelevant:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

He saw to\nthe day they\u2019d sit at His side.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

                                   <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

A people\ncame forth -- a people who loved -<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

A people\nwho overcame all to say,<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

"I\nlove you, My Lord! <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Your onoma<\/span> I take;<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

All that I\nam, or ever will be, is yours for eternity, going forth from this day."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\ncreator of all, the Lord Jesus Christ,<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Now made\ncomplete -- having been joined to His Bride --<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Sees\ndestiny unfold, eternity resume,<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

His cry\nhas been answered,<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

His love's\nat His side.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The future\nunfolds, a thousand years of time,<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The throne\nof the heavens,<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

a new onoma<\/span> presides;<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The past\nis behind, the cry is fulfilled;<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The need\nhas been met,<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In\nBridegroom and Bride.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Know\nthis<\/span><\/b>:<\/span> <\/span>\u201cthat He who began a good work in you will perfect and complete\nit up to and until the day of Jesus Christ!\u201d<\/span>  <\/span>(Philippians 1:6, RAC\nTranslation & Amplification)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It\nis happening!  He is doing it!  The work of perfecting and completing\ncontinues so long as we continue wholeheartedly responding to everything He\nsays, does and requires in us!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let\nus go on to the finishing!<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Once\nagain, here is the wrap up that we used last week.  "When you want\nwhat God wants for the same reason that God wants it, you become unlimited and\nunstoppable!"  Today, we will add to it the following: "When you\nwant what God wants in your life, you will see the Glory of God revealed -- in\nyourself and in the earth around you."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n
