ANOTHER COFFEE BREAK: CHRISTMAS<\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div>

 <\/p>\n

It has been a constant source of amazement to me that Jesus has\nalways been painted as poor and indigent -- never mind what the Word clearly\nstates. Ever since the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD, error after error after\nerror has crept into the body of Christ, and promulgated with traditions that\nhave no validity in the Word. The compromises that Constantine made with church\nleaders in order to bring the Roman Army into the church and declare them to be\n"Christian" have contaminated the truth ever since.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Before\nwe launch into some Biblical and historical facts, let me strongly recommend\nthe following DVD to you and a good site where you can purchase it. Christian\nBook Distributors (CBD) sells<\/span> THE\nSTAR OF BETHLEHEM<\/a><\/span> <\/span><\/i><\/b>produced\nby attorney, Stephen McEveety<\/span>. My reason for\nrecommending this DVD to you is that it provides extremely accurate\nastronomical data in demonstrating just when Jesus was born and when the Magi\nvisited Him.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

We've\nall been contaminated throughout the generations with the idea that Jesus was\nborn on what amounts to December 25th on the Julian calendar. The problem with\nthe Julian calendar is that it is totally out of sync with God's calendar --\nthe calendar everyone likes to refer to as the Hebrew or Jewish calendar. It\nmisses completely the Word that was given at Creation when God specifically\nsaid:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Genesis 1:14-18, KJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span>\n<\/span>And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the\nheaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for\nseasons, and for days, and years<\/u>: And let them be for lights in the\nfirmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God\nmade two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to\nrule the night: he made<\/i> the stars also. And God set them in the\nfirmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day\nand over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that\nit was<\/i> good.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The\nkey here is that God specifically made the Sun, the Moon and the Stars -- NOT\njust for a division between day and night, but for His signs, for seasons, for\ndays and for years! That's critical to our understanding as we move forward.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

With\nthis concept firmly planted let's look now at some specific days that God\nordained to be set aside as His days.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

First\nis the Feast of Passover.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

"And thus shall ye eat it; with<\/i> your loins girded,\nyour shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in\nhaste: it is<\/i> the LORD\u2019S Passover."<\/span>\n<\/span>(Exodus\n12:11)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

"And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye\nshall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep\nit a feast by an ordinance forever<\/u><\/span>."<\/span> <\/span>(Exodus\n12:14)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

"And ye shall observe the feast of<\/i> unleavened bread;\nfor in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore\nshall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance forever<\/u>. In\nthe first month<\/i>, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall\neat unleavened bread, until the one and twentieth day of the month at even.\nSeven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses: for whosoever eateth<\/span> that which is leavened, even that soul shall be cut\noff from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a stranger, or born in the\nland. Ye shall eat nothing leavened; in all your habitations shall ye eat\nunleavened bread."<\/span> <\/span>(Exodus 12:17-20)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What\nwe see with this Feast is that this was an event to be celebrated\n"forever!" That word in the Hebrew text is 'olam<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b> -- a word\nwhich can be translated:<\/span> <\/span>throughout the eternity of the eternities<\/span><\/u><\/b>. This was not just a\nJewish feast, or one that Israel ONLY was supposed to keep: this feast was kept\nby Christians continually until Constantine's "Edict of Toleration"\nin which Christians were forbidden to honor it.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Let's\ncontinue.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In\nthe seventh month on God's calendar, He specified the following feasts:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Leviticus 23:24-25, KJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span> <\/span>Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month,\nin the first day<\/i> of the month, shall ye have a sabbath<\/span>,\na memorial of blowing of trumpets<\/u>, an holy convocation. Ye shall do no\nservile work therein<\/i>: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto\nthe LORD.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The\nfirst day of the seventh month, therefore, begins with what we know as\n"The Feast of Trumpets." Then we see the following:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Leviticus 23:26-31, KJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span> <\/span>And the LORD spake<\/span> unto Moses, saying,\nAlso on the tenth day<\/i> of this seventh month there shall be<\/u><\/i>\na day of atonement<\/u>: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye\nshall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD. And\nye shall do no work in that same day: for it is<\/i> a day of atonement, to\nmake an atonement for you before the LORD your God. For whatsoever soul it\nbe<\/i> that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from\namong his people. And whatsoever soul it be<\/i> that doeth any work in that\nsame day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people. Ye shall do no\nmanner of work: it shall be<\/i> a statute for ever throughout your\ngenerations in all your dwellings.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Thus,\non the tenth day of the seventh month, we see the Day of Atonement. There's a\nterm that appears here that gets missed in the English translation out of the\nHebrew, the word, dor<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\n(which comes from the root, dur<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>)\nand is translated "generations." In fact, the word more properly\ntranslates as: <\/span>a revolution of time<\/span>. The root word, dur<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>,\nmeans:<\/span> <\/span>to revolve, to move continually in a circle<\/span>. While the\ntranslation, "generations," certainly applies, our English word loses\nthe picture of revolving continually without end -- hence,<\/span> <\/span>time without end<\/span><\/b>! I'll talk more\nabout this momentarily.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

But\nwe're not done with the seventh month.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Leviticus 23:33-41, KJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span> <\/span>And the LORD spake<\/span> unto Moses, saying,\nSpeak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh\nmonth shall be<\/i> the feast of tabernacles<\/u> for<\/i> seven days unto\nthe LORD. On the first day shall be<\/i> an holy convocation: ye shall do no\nservile work therein<\/i>. Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire\nunto the LORD: on the eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye\nshall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: it is<\/i> a solemn\nassembly; and<\/i> ye shall do no servile work therein<\/i>. These are<\/i>\nthe feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be<\/i> holy convocations,\nto offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, and a meat\noffering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, everything upon his day: Beside the\nsabbaths<\/span> of the LORD, and beside your gifts, and\nbeside all your vows, and beside all your freewill offerings, which ye give\nunto the LORD. Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have\ngathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven\ndays: on the first day shall be<\/i> a sabbath<\/span>, and\non the eighth day shall be<\/i> a sabbath<\/span>. And ye\nshall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm\ntrees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall\nrejoice before the LORD your God seven days. And ye shall keep it a feast unto\nthe LORD seven days in the year. It shall be<\/u><\/i> a statute forever\nin your generations<\/u>: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

During\nthe early years of the body of Christ -- in fact, during the first couple of\ncenturies -- Christians kept these feasts. They understood that God's command\nto keep these feasts 'olam<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b>\n-- <\/span>throughout the\neternity of the eternities<\/span><\/u><\/b>\n<\/span>--\ndidn't just apply to the Jews under the Mosaic Law, God's command applied to\nHis people -- and there was no question that as Christians, they had been\ngrafted into God's select company.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Sadly,\nChristians today have been stuck with the belief that to keep these feasts is\nto be stuck with and caught up in legalism. To be sure, we don't offer burnt\nofferings; WE are the burnt offering unto the Lord, having been purified by the\nblood of Jesus and by the Holy Ghost and fire!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Now,\nI know many of you are looking cross-eyed at me and saying, "What in the\nworld does any of this have to do with Christmas?" My first answer to you\nis, "watch the DVD, <\/span>THE STAR OF BETHLEHEM<\/span><\/i><\/b>." My second\nanswer is, "consider the significance of the dates on the Hebrew calendar\nwithin the framework of Jesus' birth, His death on the Cross, His resurrection,\nHis command to the disciples to NOT go forth to teach or to preach "until\nye be endued with power from on high" -- and event which began with\nPentecost -- and, finally, His promise that He would return to dwell with us\nagain.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Consider,\nnow the following implications of these feasts, and how they relate.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

On\nthe night that Jesus was born, Luke records that shepherds were in the fields,\nwatching their flocks during the night. That is not a wintertime event in\nIsrael. Because Luke tells us that the angel of the Lord came to tell the\nshepherds of the birth of the Messiah, and immediately following the sky was\nfilled with angelic hosts praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the\nhighest, and on earth, peace, good will toward men."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

According\nto all that we can ascertain historically, and considering corresponding events\nin the heavens that are clearly recorded, this would have happened as early as\nthe fourth of September on our calendar (and the first day of the seventh month\non the Hebrew calendar, Tishrei<\/span>), or as late as the\n24th of September (also the first day of the seventh month on the Hebrew\ncalendar). This places Jesus' birth on the Feast of Trumpets.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Using\nthe phenomenal work that Stephen McEveety<\/span> did with\nhis astronomical research as it relates to the Star of Bethlehem that announced\nJesus' birth, and the travel time that it took the Magi to reach the young\nchild after having seen the Star, we know from the Greek text of Matthew 2:8\nthat by the time they reached Jesus, that he was above two years of age.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

How\ndo we know this, you ask? The Greek word used in Matthew 2:8 is the word, paidion<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>.\nThis word is significant because it does not describe a new-born babe. Consider\nthe five words in Greek that describe the growth and development of a person.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

(1)<\/span><\/b> <\/span>Brephos<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> describes a child in\nthe womb between conception and birth. (2)<\/span><\/b>\nNepios<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\ndescribes a child between birth and the age of two when it is expected that the\nchild has been weaned from the mother's milk. (3)\n<\/span>Paidion<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/b>\ndescribes a child after being weaned from the mother's breast until it reaches\nthe age of 12 (for a boy) or 13 (for a girl).<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

(4)<\/span><\/b> <\/span>Teknon<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> describes a child\nwho has reached the age of accountability. [From a spiritual perspective, Paul\ndescribes this in Galatians 4:1-2 as<\/span>\n<\/span>"being under tutors and governors until the time appointed\nby the father."<\/span>]\nThe ceremony for a boy at age 12 is bar-mitzvah<\/span><\/i><\/b>.\nThe ceremony for a girl at age 13 is known as bat-mitzvah<\/span><\/i><\/b>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

(5)<\/span><\/b> <\/span>Huios<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> is the word that\ndescribes a son who has generally reached the approximate age of 30, has\nfinished his tutoring and has father's approval to act in his stead to operate\nfather's business in his name. Once "the time appointed of the\nfather" is reached, a general ceremony takes place in which father\nannounces to his friends and associates, "this is my beloved son in whom I\nam well pleased."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As\nis obvious, it takes no great imagination to see this same pattern unfolding\nwith Jesus. Tracking the position in the sky of the Star of Bethlehem that led\nthe Magi to Jesus in Bethlehem, we have every reason to believe that they\narrived at the home of Mary and Joseph to bestow their incredible and lavish\ngifts on this young "King of Kings" on December 25th, if you\ncorrelate it to the Julian calendar. Going back to my opening commentary on the\nfact that so many Christians think Jesus lived His life in abject poverty, the\nMagi came to see Jesus \u2013 either as kings themselves, or as representing kings\nfrom major eastern countries \u2013 to honor Him as the King of Kings. Kings NEVER\nbrought token gifts to other kings, and in this case, the Magi would have\nbrought lavish gifts. If we use the analogy of the Queen of Sheba bringing what\ncalculates in modern terms to the equivalent of $119 Million in gold as a gift\nhonoring Solomon, the Magi would have brought nothing less to the One they were\nhonoring as the King of Kings!!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I\nhave no problem celebrating December 25th as an important day in Jesus' life,\nbut it was not the day that Jesus was born. Using Steven McEveety\u2019s<\/span>\ncalculations from the signs in the Heavens, it is most probably the day that\nJesus was conceived in Mary\u2019s womb \u2013 the day that the Angel, Gabriel, appeared\nto her and announced that she would be the mother of the long-awaited Messiah!\nDecember 25th was a day adopted by Constantine in agreement with the various\nbishops -- a day that corresponded with a heathen feast, Saturnalia, on the\nRoman calendar. Constantine issued an edict in utter ignorance of God's\ncommands which forbade the Christians to observe what he called "Jewish\nfeast days," when in fact Christians had been celebrating them\ncontinuously. Jesus kept the feasts, and the feasts were signs of major events\non God's calendar.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Let\nme wrap up quickly today by saying that at the exact moment during the Feast of\nPassover at 3:00 PM in the afternoon (specifically on the Day of Atonement)\nwhen the High Priest was slitting the throat of the sacrificial lamb, Jesus\nexpired on the Cross -- slain for the sins of the world as the once-and-for-all\nsacrifice.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

When\nJesus rose from the dead and appeared to hundreds of people over a period of\nsome 40 days, and then prepared to ascend into heaven, he instructed the\ndisciples to "tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem until ye be endued with\npower from on High."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Fifty\ndays from the day that He was crucified and died on the Cross, the Feast of\nPentecost was celebrated, and Luke tells us in Acts 2 that when the day of\nPentecost <\/span>"was fully come"<\/span>\n<\/span>the\ndisciples, their families and others who had joined with them<\/span> <\/span>"were all with one accord in one place."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Luke\ngoes on to tell us of the unfolding of Pentecost as Holy Spirit appeared as\nfire, tongues of fire sat down on the heads of those gathered,<\/span> <\/span>"And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to\nspeak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."<\/span> <\/span>Thus,\nthe Feast of Pentecost -- as a feast to be commemorated continually among God's\npeople -- took on the manifestation that Jesus promised before He ascended into\nHeaven.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

If\nI understand anything at all regarding the Feasts being a fulfillment of God's\ntimetable for His people, then we can expect Jesus to return to fulfill the\nFeast of Tabernacles in order to dwell with us continually. The Feast of\nTabernacles is on the 15th day of the seventh month, the month of Tishrei<\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Thus\nwe see the pattern unfolding in Tishrei<\/span>: (1)<\/span><\/b> on the first day of the month, we\ncelebrate the Feast of Trumpets -- the day that Jesus was born; (2)<\/span><\/b> on the 10th day of the month, we celebrate\nthe Feast of Atonement, when Jesus became the sacrificial lamb -- the<\/span> <\/span>"Lamb slain from the foundation of the earth"<\/span>; and (3)<\/span><\/b> the 15th day of the seventh month, which\nis the Feast of Tabernacles \u2013 the Lord dwelling with us. Jesus was and is the\npattern Son for us all.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

That\nsaid, Merry Christmas to you all!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
