ANOTHER COFFEE BREAK: GOING BEYOND, Part 1<\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div>

 <\/p>\n

The Son has risen on a new era. Strange way to put it, I know,\nbut as the age in which we live comes to a close, society has become so dark\nand perverted that the previous generation would hardly recognize things. Yet,\nwe live in the most spectacular time in all of history. I have said to many\nthroughout the past years that I wouldn't trade living in this era for any\nother time in history. We are entering a time when the Glory of the Lord will\nbe revealed in dimensions the body of Christ has never seen, and likely cannot\nimagine in their wildest fancies.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Isaiah prophesied of this day and time like this:<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

(Isaiah\n60:1-3, NASB) <\/span><\/b>\u201cArise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the\nLORD has risen upon you. For behold, darkness will cover the earth and deep\ndarkness the peoples; But the  LORD will rise upon you and His glory will\nappear upon you. Nations will come to your light, And kings to the brightness\nof your rising."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Nevertheless, for the Glory of the Lord to arise upon us in such\na way as to draw kings and nations to see and know and understand what is\ntaking place, we MUST as a body of overcoming people -- a Bridal company fit\nfor the Lord Jesus Christ -- move beyond the foundational truths into a\nspiritual dimension that awaits every believer who will lay aside every mental\nreasoning and religious weight that holds them back from total, uncompromised,\nunreserved responsiveness to the requirements of Holy Spirit.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

That\nsaid, let's begin this series with a statement that Paul makes in writing to\nthe Jewish Christians at large -- a people who had been steeped their whole\nlives in traditions and legalism before coming to the knowledge and acceptance\nof Jesus Christ as their Messiah. What Paul writes has the same power and application\nto us as modern-day believers, many of whom have grown up in the traditions of\nthe church world with many doctrines that are man-made.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Hebrews\n6:1-3, KJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span><\/b>\u201cTherefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let\nus go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from\ndead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of\nlaying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal\njudgment. And this will we do, if God permit.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

If\nyou don't mind, <\/span>let\u2019s\ntake a deeper look at what Paul is saying. Both the original Greek text and the\nAramaic text put these statements in a clearer and much more detailed realm of\nunderstanding.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Hebrews\n6:1-3, RAC Translation & Amplification<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span><\/b>Therefore, and as a\nconsequence, it is critically important that we forsake [what Jesus has already\neradicated from existence] the beginnings and commencement of the [initiating]\nWord of the Anointed One and His Anointing (Jesus Christ),<\/span><\/o:p>\n<\/span>Let us move forward energetically to the place of completion and\n consummation; not laying down [or setting in front of you as a continual\n requirement] the legalistic requirement to repent, and re-do your thought\n processes concerning the old, dead works and requirements of the Law [as though\n it were necessary in order to attain redemption from past sins or iniquities],\n under the guise that this builds faith in and toward God, the line-upon-line,\n precept-upon-precept instruction in the purification processes in baptisms, the\n necessity of laying on of hands (for impartation or conveyance of power), [the\n foundational truth that Jesus provides] resurrection from the dead and\n cancelation of the curse of death, and \u2014 finally \u2014 the understanding and\n revelation of the judgment and decrees that exist throughout the eternity of\n the eternities.<\/span>\n <\/o:p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And this is what we will be enabled to do conditional upon God\u2019s\n transfer of authority, granting license and liberty to move past these\n foundations.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

To\nplace Paul\u2019s statements in context, it is important to remember that he was\nwriting to Jewish Christians who had grown up under, and subject to, the Law of\nMoses. For them to walk and live and grow up IN CHRIST \u2014 never mind having\nChrist in them \u2014 they needed to totally free from the Law and its constraints.\nThey needed to understand that Jesus was the complete fulfillment of the Law,\nand that no aspect of the Law could be alive in them, their thinking, or their\nbehavior.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

When\nPaul begins his discourse, he identifies six specific areas of legalistic\nunderstanding they have grown up with (and I will label them as they understood\nthem):<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

(1)<\/span><\/b> Atonement for\nsins<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

(2)<\/span><\/b> Trusting God\n(albeit from a place of fear)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

(3)<\/span><\/b> The washing of\nhands and\/or baptism as an act of separation from uncleanness<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

(4)<\/span><\/b> The laying on\nof hands (from the perspective of prophetic anointing)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

(5)<\/span><\/b> Resurrection of\nthe dead (viewed as an act only after the coming of Messiah, and ONLY for the\npurpose of being judged by God<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

(6)<\/span><\/b> Eternal\njudgment (as being cast off from God)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We\nare going to try and just deal with the first aspect of this \u201cleaving behind\u201d\ntoday: NOT revisiting and reenacting the dead works of the Law.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The\nChristians of Paul's era were not \u2014 and are not \u2014 the only people who still\nlive their lives continuing to apply the law (or even modern man-made laws) to\nthemselves as believers. Religion has become so intertwined into the modern\nlife of Christians that they don\u2019t realize just how much of their lives are\noperating in a sub-standard mode.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Religion\nplaces performance standards and a set of measurements that folks have to live\nup to that have absolutely nothing to do with our progress in God. Let me give\nyou a few examples:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1.<\/span><\/b> Don\u2019t smoke.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

2.<\/span><\/b> Don\u2019t drink wine, beer or hard\nliquor.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

3.<\/span><\/b> Don\u2019t go to dances.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

4.<\/span><\/b> Don\u2019t frequent the theaters,\nwatch movies \u2014 even television is bad for you.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

5.<\/span><\/b> Ladies, make sure you wear long\ndresses.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

6<\/span><\/b>. It is improper for women to wear\npants because they will look like men.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

7.<\/span><\/b> No wearing of jewelry.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

8.<\/span><\/b> No fancy hairstyles \u2014 women\nshould keep their hair plain.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

9.<\/span><\/b> When you pray, make sure you pray\non your knees.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

10.<\/span><\/b> You must attend church on Sunday\nmorning, Sunday Evening, and either Tuesday or Wednesday night for Bible Study.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This\nlist could go on and on and on, but you get the idea. Nowhere in the Word do\nyou find any of these things. None of these things are a measure of holiness,\nand none of these things have anything to do with one\u2019s relationship with the\nLord \u2014 and here\u2019s the caveat: UNLESS Holy Spirit says so personally to them!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I\ngrant you that smoking isn\u2019t good for you, and drinking hard liquor will create\nlong-term physical problems, but these aren\u2019t things that Jesus requires of us\nin order to come to Him. I don\u2019t recommend that people smoke cigarettes or chew\ntobacco, but that isn\u2019t a requirement I can place on anyone! That\u2019s something\nthat only Holy Spirit can require of you.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Della\nand I enjoy a glass of wine \u2014 and Paul even encouraged Timothy to \u201cdrink\na little wine for thy stomach\u2019s sake and thine<\/span> oft\ninfirmities\u201d<\/i><\/b> \u2014 but at the same time, our liberty in having a glass\nof wine is not license to drink to excess or to over-imbibe; and that rule can\nbe applied to just about everything!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It\nisn\u2019t the drinking of wine or having a cup of coffee, or a bottle of beer that\nis the issue: it is the drinking to excess that creates problems in our\nresponsiveness to the Lord. There is also the instance for some folks who\nsimply cannot have even a single drink of wine or beer or anything alcoholic\nbecause of the responses it produces in them. This is, again, something that\nONLY Holy Spirit can require as an act of personal obedience.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

When\nPaul addresses the Hebrew Christians, he is also addressing us as modern-day\nbelievers in Christ Jesus. When he begins drawing the picture of \u201cgoing on to\ncompleteness\u201d he starts with \u201cnot laying again, the foundations of repentance\nfrom dead works.\u201d That\u2019s a mouthful!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

My\namplified translation of the Greek hardly does justice to what Paul is\ncommunicating by the Spirit. First of all, he lays a foundation (pun intended)\nfor our \u201cgoing on\u201d by saying that the real issue among believers is \u201creligion.\u201d\nHe is referring to \u201cthe works of the Law,\u201d in the same way that John writes\nunder the direction of the Lord to the seven Ekklesias<\/span>\nsaying, \u201cI know thy works.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Before\nI continue, let\u2019s define \u201crepentance from dead works.\u201d<\/b><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Under\nthe Law of Moses, the Israelites were required to keep not only the ten\ncommandments but a series of some 600-plus laws, statutes, and commandments,\nnot counting a fistful of feast-days.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

When\nIsaiah opens up his prophecies to Israel, the Word of the Lord through him is\nthat God is sick of the sacrifices and burnt offerings, the keeping of the new\nmoon feasts,  etc., and that he will hide His face from them and not hear\nor respond in any way because of the filth they continue in all the while they\n\u201ckeep His commandments.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In\nIsaiah 28:13, we are told, <\/span>\u201cBut the Word of the Lord\nwas unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line\nupon line, here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall\nbackward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What\nIsaiah was driving at, even some 700 years or so before Paul\u2019s directive to the\nHebrews, was that folks had lost sight of the Spirit of the Law.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Paul\ntakes up this same theme and is essentially saying to the body of Christ,\n\u201cThere is nothing left for you to do! Pleasing the Lord is not in the keeping\nof laws, statutes and commandments; pleasing the Lord and having fellowship\nwith Him is not in the doing of things, it is in BEING in Him!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Everything\nthat could possibly have been done that had been a part of the past was\nfinished. Jesus was the finishing of the Law, the Statutes and the\nCommandments. He didn\u2019t invalidate them, as the \u201creligionists\u201d of the day would\nlike to believe; He wrapped them into the very agape nature of Father God and\nfellowship with Him!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

That\nwasn\u2019t doing away with them, but it WAS doing away with the observance of them\nas laws and commandments.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Unfortunately,\nthe body of Christ has been caught up in the same dilemma today with opposite\nextremes. On one hand, you have those who run with it so far to the right that\n\u201cGrace\u201d covers everything including their continuance in sin and utterly\nperverse activities.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Within\nthe GBLT agenda, there are those who profess to be born-again (even supposedly\nSpirit-baptized) Christians who maintain their right to \u201clove whomever they\nchoose\u201d and\/or marry someone of the same sex because \u201cGod is a God of love, and\nHis Grace covers us.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

On\nthe other side of the pendulum swing are those who preach and teach the\nnecessity of digging into one\u2019s past, their family histories, past generations\n(in some cases attempting to go back ten generations or more) in order to deal\nwith iniquities (a fancy word which essentially describes a character flaw, or\na twist in one\u2019s way of thinking) or \u201cfamily curses\u2019, or the visiting of the\nsins of the father upon the children, etc., etc., etc., ad infinitum.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

When\nJesus went to the Cross Isaiah, seeing things prophetically some 700 years into\nthe future, wrote, <\/span>\u201cSurely He has suffered and accepted as His own our maladies,\nour anxieties, our calamities, our disease and sicknesses, and carried our\nanguish, pain and grief:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYet we fabricated and maliciously invented His being stricken\nviolently, beaten, punished, wounded and slaughtered as if by God -- choosing\nto believe that God browbeat, demeaned and looked down upon Him.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cBut He was broken and profaned for our rebellion, our revolt,\nour apostasy and our [religious] quarrel against God;<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cHe was crushed, oppressed and smitten, and (emotionally) broken\ninto pieces for our perversity, our evil, our mischief, sins and faults; the\nbreaking and ridiculing of our peace, our welfare, our prosperity, our health\nand our safety was upon Him;<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd with His bloodied and blue wounds we are cured, mended,\nrepaired and made thoroughly whole.\u201d<\/span> <\/span><\/i><\/b>(Isaiah 53:4-5, RAC\nTranslation & Amplification)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Understand?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

All\nof that happened BEFORE He went to the Cross! Do you see anything He didn\u2019t\ncover? Then consider what happened on the Cross.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Remember\nwhat happened when the centurion pierced Jesus\u2019 side while He was hanging on\nthe Cross? Water and blood came forth from Him. Jesus\u2019 last words before He\ndied were, \u201cIt is finished!\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And\nwhat was finished? Death. What was finished? A new birth was taking place: a\nbride was being birthed for the Lord Jesus Christ. But this birth was unlike\nany in history. In the realm of the flesh, a birth takes place in the midst of\nwater and blood. Babies come forth out of the water or amniotic fluid that\nkeeps them alive while they are still in the womb, and blood accompanies the\nbirthing process.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Jesus,\nhowever, made it clear that this new birth was NOT of water \u2014 not in the normal\nsense \u2014 nor of blood, even though His blood was shed in the process. A\nsupernatural transformation \u2014 a regeneration \u2014 was taking place. This new birth\nwas taking place in that realm which has authority and power over the flesh and\nthe soul:  the spirit. A dimensional change was occurring.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n
