ANOTHER COFFEE BREAK: GOING BEYOND, Part 2<\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div>

November 14, 2014<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Today we continue with the theme we began last week. It is\ncritical for all of us as believers, if we are to be a part of that called-out\ncompany we know as the Bride of Christ, then going on beyond the fundamental\nfoundations of Jesus Christ is an absolute necessity. What God is doing, and\nwhat He has in store for those who will allow the foundations to be fully laid\nin their lives, is beyond anything natural, carnal eyes can see, natural carnal\nears can hear, and the reasoning, thinking mind can possibly imagine!<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We started here last week, and I repeat: Isaiah prophesied of\nthis day and time like this:<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

(Isaiah\n60:1-3, NASB) <\/span><\/b>\u201cArise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the\nLORD has risen upon you. For behold, darkness will cover the earth and deep\ndarkness the peoples; But the  LORD will rise upon you and His glory will\nappear upon you. Nations will come to your light, And kings to the brightness\nof your rising."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We\npaused last week in our narrative of what took place with Jesus on the Cross\nand His final words on the Cross, "It is Finished!" We noted that sin\nwas canceled, death was finished and a new birth was taking place -- the birth\nof a company of people who would no longer be under the Law of Moses, but\nredeemed from the curse of the Law and free to once again enter into an\nintimate love relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Jesus,\nhowever, made it clear that this new birth was NOT of water \u2014 not in the normal\nsense \u2014 nor of blood, even though His blood was shed in the process. A\nsupernatural transformation \u2014 a regeneration \u2014 was taking place. This new birth\nwas taking place in that realm which has authority and power over the flesh and\nthe soul:  the spirit. A dimensional change was occurring.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Hence,\nJesus said to Nicodemus, <\/span>\u201cThat which is born of\nthe flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.\u201c<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Because\ndeath only affects our flesh, because death has power over unredeemed flesh, a\nnew kind of birth had to take place \u2014 one that had never before occurred in\nhistory.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Now\nyou\u2019re beginning to get the picture. Jesus\u2019 most earnest desire is that we\npromulgate, that we announce to the world the fact that He kept our appointment\nwith death. We no longer have to suffer death, disease, sickness, infirmity,\npoverty, etc. But there\u2019s more.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It\nis important that we not only show the world our deliverance from death: we\nmust also demonstrate to Satan, to principalities, to rulers of this world\u2019s\ndarkness, that we\u2019ve been set free from the curse of death, that we\u2019ve been\nfreed from Satan\u2019s dominion, that we\u2019ve been restored the authority, the power\nand the dominion originally given to Adam in the Garden of Eden.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Water\nbaptism \u2014 as we have already noted in previous discussions (and will cover\nagain in this series \u2014 does just that. This ordinance \u2014 this statute \u2014 has\nenormous spiritual significance. This isn\u2019t for the world\u2019s sake, even though\nit is part of an outward show, a demonstration of a spiritual regeneration that\nhas taken place.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This\nis a \u201cHands Off!\u201d declaration to Satan. This is the posting of a legal decree\nwhich clearly states we are no longer members of that class of human beings\nsubject to the Law of Sin and Death.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The\nold being which was subject to death and had the \u201cknowledge virus\u201d in our genes\nhas been put to death. The appointment with death has been kept. The person who\nthen comes up out of the water is raised from the dead by the Spirit of God.\nThis newly-born individual is born again \u2014 both of water AND of the Spirit!\nOnce again we have Paul\u2019s description to the Romans: <\/span>\u201call of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been\nbaptized into His death.<\/u>\u201c<\/span> <\/span><\/i><\/b>Yessir<\/span><\/span>! The appointment\nwith death has been kept.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And\nagain Paul says, <\/span>\u201cas Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the\nFather, so we too might walk in newness of life.<\/u>\u201d<\/span> <\/span><\/i><\/b>The \u201cnew us\u201d is no longer subject to\nthe Law of Sin and Death.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Romans 8:2<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span><\/b>For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me\nfree from the law of sin and death.<\/span> <\/span><\/i><\/b>The \u201cnew us\u201d is free\nfrom death, sickness, disease, infirmity, weakness, poverty, need, etc. Now\nwe\u2019re free to demonstrate Jesus!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Jesus\ndeath on the Cross freed us from the \u201cdead works of the Law.\u201d The Cross\nestablished a line of demarcation between the past and the future. The Cross\nmeans that we can move forward into our destinies in the Lord Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The\nCross means that we no longer have to repeat the rituals of repentance and\nasking for forgiveness of all of our sins. When Jesus\u2019 was pierced through by\nthe Centurion, blood and water came out of His side. According to the\narchaeological expedition conducted back in the late 1980\u2019s by Ron Wyatt, when\nhe found the Ark of the Covenant, there were traces of blood on the Mercy Seat\nthat had dripped down through the crack in the earth above where the base of\nthe Cross had been dropped into a hole. Jesus\u2019 blood was the ONCE AND\nFOR ALL SACRIFICE!<\/b><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Our\nsins, our iniquities, our faults and failures were paid for, ONCE AND\nFOR ALL TIME! <\/b>So once we are in Christ, We\u2019ve been set free from the\ncontinual need for repentance from dead works. We CAN <\/b>go on to\nthe perfecting and completing that Jesus Christ has for us!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Continuing\non with the theme of leaving behind the foundational principles of Christ, one\nof the foundational principles of the teachings (Dr. Wm. Gesenius<\/span>\nrefers to this as  \u201cthe Divine Expression\u201d) of the Lord Jesus Christ, we\nmove on to the subject of faith towards God.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Before\nwe get into too much depth, let me lay<\/span> some\nfoundations (pun intended) with a series of Scriptures. Jesus made it\nabundantly clear that it is critical for us to have God\u2019s faith if we are to\ntruly see the dimension of the Spirit God expects us to walk in.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Perhaps\none of the most quoted statements that Jesus made concerning faith appears in\nMark 11:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cPossess and hold continuously to God\u2019s faith. Surely, and very\nfirmly, I declare to you, that whoever shall speak to and command this specific\nmountain [or obstacle raising itself up] before you to raise up, remove and be\nthrown into the sea, and shall not hesitate, draw back or attempt to\ndiscriminate [between what is thought to be acceptable and that which is not]\nin his heart, and shall believe (implicitly trusting God and giving full credit\nto) that his declarations shall come to pass, he shall have and receive exactly\nwhat he declares.\u201d<\/span> <\/span><\/i><\/b>(Mark 11:22-23<\/b>,\nRAC Translation & Amplification)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Writing\nto the Hebrews, Paul says, <\/span>\u201cNOW the just shall live\nby faith, but if man shall draw back my soul shall have no pleasure in him.\u201d<\/span> (Hebrews\n10:38 <\/b>KJV)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Let\nme amplify and somewhat extrapolate from a previous verse in something Paul writes\nto the Romans to put it like this: <\/span>\u201cFor therein [the Gospel\nof Christ which is the power of God unto salvation to them that believe] is the\nrighteousness of God revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, The just\nshall live by faith.\u201d<\/span> <\/span><\/i><\/b>(Romans 1:16-17<\/b>,\nKJV)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Paul,\nof course, is quoting from the prophet, Habakkuk, who is directed by the Lord\nto <\/span>\u201cmake the vision plain upon tables, that he may run (or pursue\nafter the vision) that readeth<\/span> it\u201dbecause<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span>\u201chis soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just\nshall live by faith.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Habakkuk\nis describing the need for the vision being plainly written because Israel (for\nthe most part) was not walking uprightly. The Word of the Lord to Israel was\nthat if they were going to be counted among the \u201cjust\u201d or righteous in God\u2019s\nsight, they absolutely had to shift from walking according to the Law to\nwalking by faith.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Faith\nwas not a part of Israel\u2019s daily life. The Law of Moses was not something that\nIsrael followed by faith. It was a dictum, a mandate to be obeyed whether they\nliked it, understood it, believed in its efficacy or not.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Throughout\nIsrael\u2019s life, however, there were the few who saw beyond the Law to the heart\nof the Lord God. They saw a spiritual principle that transcended the Law.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Abraham,\nwho was literally the father of Israel, had a relationship with God when there\nwas no written or prescribed Law. One of Abraham\u2019s contemporaries was the\nMesopotamian king, Hammurabi, who set forth a series of practical laws for\nhuman behavior. The archaeological artifact known as \u201cThe Stele of Hammurabi\u201d\ndetailed many laws in writing \u2014 some of which paralleled the statutes that\nMoses set forth for Israel to follow.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Because\nof \u201cCode of Hammurabi\u201d was fairly well known throughout the entire\nMediterranean region, Abraham and his contemporaries were no doubt familiar\nwith all or parts of it, but there was nothing in that code which incorporated\nany kind of relationship with God as the foundation for observance.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Everything\nthat Abraham did in his responses to the Lord flew in the face of natural human\nunderstanding. There was no rational thought to Abraham\u2019s behavior. Here\u2019s how\nthe apostle Paul describes Abraham\u2019s behavior \u2014 both in writing to the Hebrews,\nand to the Romans:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Hebrews 11:8-10, 17-19, KJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>\u201cBy faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place\nwhich he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not\nknowing whither he went. By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as\nin a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs\nwith him of the same promise: For he looked for a city which hath foundations,\nwhose builder and maker is God.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBy faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he\nthat had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, Of whom\nit was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called: Accounting that God was\nable to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a\nfigure.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Romans 4:14-18, KJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>\u201cFor if\nthey which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of\nnone effect: Because the law worketh<\/span> wrath: for where\nno law is, there is no transgression. Therefore it is of faith, that it\nmight be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to\nthat only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of\nAbraham; who is the father of us all,<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,)\nbefore him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth<\/span>\nthe dead, and calleth<\/span> those things which be not as\nthough they were. Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the\nfather of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed\nbe.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Paul\nmakes it abundantly clear that it is impossible to live by the Law and live by\nFaith at the same time. One either lives by the Law, and is subject to all of\nthe consequences of the Law for even the least infraction, or one can live by\nthe faith of the Lord Jesus Christ, and be totally delivered from the\nconsequences of any infractions of the Law.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Now\nyou understand why it is so critically important that the foundation of faith\ntoward God be so much a part of our character and makeup. We simply cannot live\nunder the Law and live by faith at the same time.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

There\nis a mandate of faith if we are to \u201cgo on beyond,\u201d to the revelation that\nawaits, being made \u201cpartakers of the Holy Ghost\u201d [that word, partakers, comes\nfrom the Greek word, metochos<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>,<\/span><\/i><\/b> which means: sharer,\nassociate, partner<\/u>], eating of the fresh manna of revelation which comes by\nthe rhema<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>, <\/span><\/i><\/b>as well as the miraculous realm of\npower associated with the \u2018eternity of the eternities\u2019.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It\nis utterly impossible to get there without the faith of God operational and\nfunctioning in its wholeness in us. Thus this is a foundation stone in Jesus\nChrist without which no further building can be constructed in the realm of the\nSpirit.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Here\u2019s\nwhere things get really interesting! In order for the Faith of God to become a\nfunctioning part of our existence, it requires the Grace of God. Grace and\nFaith work hand in hand, and neither one operates without the other.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Let\u2019s\ntake a minute to define Grace so that this becomes more clear. The Greek word\ntranslated \u201cgrace\u201d throughout the New Testament is the word, charis<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>. <\/span><\/i><\/b>J.H. Thayer, in his Greek-English\nLexicon, defines this word like this:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1)<\/span><\/b> The Divine influence of God<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

2)<\/span><\/b> The merciful kindness by which\nGod strengthens and increases us in faith<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

3)<\/span><\/b> The proof of God\u2019s Divine Power<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

4)<\/span><\/b> That which kindles the exercise\nof Christian virtues<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

NOTHING\nin these definitions allows us to conclude that grace is passive in any way!\nGrace is a whole lot more than the kindness and mercy of God. It is the\nempowerment that enables the operation of faith in God, as well as faith\ntowards God.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Let\nme put it another way. In writing to the Romans, Paul says the following:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Romans 5:20, KJV<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>But\nwhere sin abounded, grace did much more abound:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Ever\nwonder why Paul put it like that? Grace is the empowerment to deal with sin.\nGrace is given to bring us to the gift of faith. The gift of faith comes when\nwe hear the Word. Once we hear the Word of faith, truth penetrates our spirit.\nWhen that takes place, grace has done its job. Grace brings us to the truth.\nFaith takes over and grace is no longer needed.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n
