ANOTHER COFFEE BREAK: THE ESKDALE MIRACLE, Part 2<\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div>

August 8, 2014<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Let's get right to this story. I'll back up just a bit for you\nto get the context of what unfolded next.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Last\nweek, I left off with what happened when I asked the following question to the\ngathered group in the Eskdale<\/span> ward house, \u201cIs there\nsomeone here tonight who has been in some kind of accident where you were\nseverely injured? Perhaps you have an injury that has been with you since your\nchildhood. If you will stand and come forward, the Lord will heal you tonight.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I\nwasn\u2019t even hardly prepared for what happened next!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Immediately,\na gentleman in his fifties stood up in the back row. His face was grotesquely\nmisshapen, the result of a fire he had been burned in as a teenager. He wore\nglasses that had to be a quarter-inch thick or more.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

He\npointed to his face and roared, \u201cOh yeah? You say this Holy Spirit is real?\nLet\u2019s see Him do something about this!\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Ever\nhave your knees quake? Ever shake in your boots? Betcha<\/span>\nmy heart sank right into my shoes in that instant. Faith as a grain of mustard\nseed? Right! Would you believe a quarter -- or even a tenth -- of a grain of\nmustard seed?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

In\nmy mind, I said, \u201cLord, you wouldn\u2019t? Oh My God! Lord, if you don\u2019t\nshow up on the scene right now<\/b>, we can pack our bags and get out of\nhere.\u201d<\/i> It was put up or shut up time! Either the Lord was who He said\nHe is, and He was going to honor His Word, or we were done!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I\nwas so scared; words wouldn\u2019t come out of my lips. Never in my whole life had I\never faced such a challenge. I just motioned for him to come forward. He got\nout into the aisle and began to walk towards the front.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

All\nof a sudden something just exploded in my spirit! In that instant I absolutely\nKNEW the Lord was going to do the miraculous! About ten steps from the\nplatform, I couldn\u2019t wait for him any longer and stretched out my hand towards\nhim saying, \u201cIn Jesus Name!\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As\nhe reached the steps of the platform, I heard a gasp from the folks sitting on\nthe front row. They were seeing what I was seeing. The flesh was pulling back\ninto place on his face. The scarring was disappearing. New eyelids were forming\nwhere the old ones had been burned away.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I\nthought I\u2019d seen a creative miracle in Phoenix with that eighteen-year-old girl\nwhose arm had been restored, but this\u2026.this was different! It was breathtaking!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Now\nthis gentleman was standing in front of me on the platform, and with 300-plus\nother people, I was watching the flesh pull back into place on his face. Let me\ntell you something. If you\u2019ve never seen that kind of creative miracle before,\nit literally takes your breath away.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Here\u2019s\na guy who had not only been burned physically, he'd lost much of his eyesight\nand needed really thick glasses to see even a little bit. Topping that off, his\nemotions and personality had been scarred by the obvious rejection he had\nsuffered because of his grotesque physical appearance.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As\nhe reached the platform and finally stood in front of me, he took his glasses\noff. It was then that everyone could see the new eyelids that had been forming\naround his eyes. Without eyelids, a person\u2019s eyes look almost \u2013 no, forget the\n\u201calmost\u201d \u2013 scary! Bizarre! It\u2019s a sight you don\u2019t easily forget.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Taking\nhis glasses off, he looked me straight in the face. I still wasn\u2019t over the\nshock of seeing such miraculous ongoing creation, and I stumbled a bit for\nwords.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cUmm\u2026.Sir,\nwhat do you see,\u201d I said cautiously. He looked at me for a second and then\nresponded, \u201cWell, you kind of look like a tree.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Under\nany other circumstances, his response would have been almost comedic. What\nflashed through my head in that instant was Jesus at Bethsaida. (See Mark\n8:22-26) I remembered that Jesus had spit on his hands, touched the blind man\nman\u2019s eyes and said to him, \u201cWhat do you see.\u201d The man responded to Jesus, \u201cI\nsee men as trees walking.\u201d Jesus had touched the man\u2019s eyes the second time, and\nhis eyesight was restored.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

When\nthat incident flashed through my head, I instant reached up and put my hand\nover the man\u2019s face and said, \u201cSir, in Jesus\u2019 name, receive your eyesight.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I\npulled back my hand and again said to him, \u201cNow, what do you see?\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

He\nlooked at me, tears began trickling out of tear ducts that hadn\u2019t worked since\nhe had been burned, and he turned to look at folks in the audience. With his\nold glasses still hanging by his fingers at his side, he began calling the\nnames of friends who were sitting next to him. \u201cFrank, John, Fred, I can see\nyou. I can see you.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Pandemonium\nexploded in that place. Without so much as a \u2018by your leave\u2019 or a word of\ninvitation of any kind, the center aisle suddenly filled with folks who wanted\nprayer and personal ministry. It caught me completely off guard.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

I\nturned to Brother Bill and said, \u201cBrother, this is more than I can handle\nmyself. Why don\u2019t we split this into two prayer lines?\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

He\nnodded his head and came back up to the platform, and we instructed the people\nto form two separate lines. I took one line, and Brother Bill took the other,\nand we began  ministering to those folks one-by-one.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It\nwas a night of miracles. One after another after another after another.\nPeriodically, we would face a particular need where we would stop and agree\ntogether in prayer.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

One\nsuch incident involved a mother with a child of perhaps four years of age. He\nhad never walked in his life because of club feet. When the Lord healed that\nchild, and he began to take his first steps across that platform in front of\neveryone, there wasn\u2019t a dry eye in the place.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Blind\neyes were healed that night. Both physically and spiritually. Deaf ears were\nunstopped, both physically and spiritually.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The\nword \u201cimpossible\u201d lost any meaning that night. Doubt, unbelief, skepticism,\nfear\u2026.you name it\u2026.all of it went out the door as Brother Bill and I ministered\nto those folks for nearly five straight hours.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We\nlost track of the miracles that occurred. We lost track of time. It became\nmeaningless to us.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It\nhad to have been around 12:30 in the morning when we ministered to the last\nperson in line. Funny thing, though. Nobody left that place.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

When\nI looked up for the first time at the crowd, I realized that it was 12:30 in\nthe morning and the place was still full. Folks just went back to their seats\nafter receiving ministry, and sat there watching what the Holy Spirit was doing\nin their midst.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Ever\nnotice how reality has a way of banishing contrary doctrines? You can be taught\nsomething, and believe it your entire life, but when you actually see the Lord\nworking in your midst, and His works are contrary to what you\u2019ve believed all\nyour life, your thinking and your doctrines undergo radical revision.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I\nnever had to say another word to those folks about who the Holy Spirit is, or\nhow He functions, or what His purpose is. Mist in outer space? Brother, did\nthat doctrine ever disappear that night. For those Mormons, anyway!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Another\nthing. I never preached salvation that night. But the reality of Jesus\u2019\npresence and His power working in their midst brought those folks face to face\nwith their need for a relationship with Him. And people started accepting Jesus\nChrist as their personal Lord and Savior with an entirely new understanding.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The\nbest was yet to come that night, however. You think it was exciting up to this\npoint? You think those Mormons were getting some doctrinal revision? They\nhadn\u2019t seen anything, yet. Neither had I. Had to admit, even my doctrines were\nundergoing some revision!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The\nlast person had been ministered to. The last one in line, anyway. All through\nthe night, the Mormon bishop had been sitting in his seat on the platform,\nwatching these events unfold. Periodically, he would get out of his seat, come\nand stand next to us to watch the miracle unfold, then go back and sit down.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Now,\nhe got out of his seat, and came and stood in front of me. He folded his arms\nand the look on his face was as though he was looking far into the distance.\nThe first words  out of his mouth were, "Well, I've seen\nenough!"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

You\ncan imagine my instantaneous reaction. The very first thought that went through\nmy head was, Oops! This has been too much for him. We're getting ready\nto get our walking papers<\/i>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Funny\nhow the mind tries to take you off track with doubt, isn't it? Believe me, the\nEnemy WANTS you to doubt, or to be in fear. Nevertheless the bishop continued\nafter a short pause. "I've seen enough. I'm convinced."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Then\nhe said, \u201cWhen you started off tonight, you quoted that scripture from\nMark, <\/span>\u2018These signs shall follow them that believe: in My Name they\nshall cast out devils\u2026.\u2019<\/span> I\nhave seven  devils that live inside of me, and I can tell you the day and\nthe hour they came in.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Think\nI was shocked? That doesn\u2019t describe it! I\u2019d never heard anyone say anything\nlike that in my life. I didn\u2019t know a person could know something like that.\nBecause of my religious pre-disposition, for me to hear it out of the mouth of\na Mormon bishop made it all the more astonishing.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It\njust didn\u2019t fit. My doctrines didn\u2019t allow for that sort of thing. Oh, sure. I\nknew that the casting out of evil spirits was a major part of Jesus\u2019 ministry.\nBut so far as I knew \u2013 at least as far as I could remember \u2013 I\u2019d never met\nanyone in my life who had a demon. (Truth be told, I had run into a number of\nfolks in bygone years who were afflicted by evil spirits, but had no\nfoundations to recognize what I was seeing.) What I knew about demons (the KJV\nuse of the word, devils, is inaccurate) could fit on the head of a straight\npin.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Teaching\non the ministry of deliverance was simply something that I had never grown up\nhearing. I had heard that Christians couldn\u2019t have evil spirits (that was a\nlie), and most of the people in ministry I\u2019d ever encountered had a \u201chands off\u201d\nattitude about the ministry of deliverance. Their attitude \u2013 and mine up to\nthis moment in time \u2013 had been one of fear in taking on Satan. After all<\/i> (so\nthe thinking is with some folks) Satan is almost as powerful as God. Got to\nreally be careful or Satan might get you if you don\u2019t know what you\u2019re doing!<\/i><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What\na pile of horse puckey<\/span>! The fear of evil spirits,\ndemons, devils, whatever you choose to call them, is planted by the evil\nspirits so you won\u2019t touch them \u2013 so they will be left alone to operate and\ncontaminate the will and processes of the Lord in your life with impunity. They\nare threatened by the presence of Holy Spirit and the authority we have in\nChrist Jesus, and they will do whatever they can to distract or sidetrack.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

My\nmind was reeling. I said to the bishop, \u201cHow do you know you have these devils?\nHow do you know when they came in?\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

He\nbegan to unfold \u2013 in front of that group of people \u2013 a tale of sinful activity\nhe had engaged in for years. He began to confess specific sins \u2013 such as\nadultery \u2013 with his wife sitting on the third row hearing this confession for\nthe first time in their married life. As he talked about his yielding to the\ntemptation to engage in adultery, he said it became easier and easier and\neasier.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cOne\nday,\u201d he said, \u201cit was out of control. I wanted to stop. I suddenly knew that I\nwas being driven by a force, by a presence that wasn\u2019t me. Now I had to do it.\nAnd I\u2019ve lived in torment with it.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

He\nwent on to relate a series of events that had unfolded otherwise in his life,\nand how he knew that these demonic spirits had taken control of these various\naspects of his life and his behavior.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Tell\nyou what. It was all new to me. I turned to Brother Bill and said, \u201cBrother,\nhave you ever dealt with anything like this before?\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

He\ngrinned, shrugged his shoulders and said, \u201cWell, a little.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Wheww<\/span><\/span>! A little is better\nthan none at all. I would gladly take someone who had actually engaged in\nsuccessful deliverance -- even if there wasn't an abundance of experience. So I\nasked Brother Bill Christopulos<\/span> to stand on one side\nof the bishop, and I stood on the other.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Once\nmore, it was put up or shut up time. This had been a major part of Jesus\u2019\nministry. The fact that I didn\u2019t understand it, and the fact that I had never\nbeen involved in this kind of thing before was completely irrelevant.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The\nGreek word used throughout the New Testament that gets translated, Savior, is\nthe word, soter<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>.\nIt actually means: <\/span>healer, deliverer, savior<\/span><\/u><\/b>. <\/span><\/b>It means <\/span>one who\nmakes whole<\/span><\/u><\/b>.<\/span><\/b> It\ncomes from the root word, sozo<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>,<\/span><\/i><\/b> which\nliterally translates to: <\/span>to save, to deliver, to\nprotect (both literally and figuratively), to heal, to preserve, to make whole,\nto make one do well (prosper<\/span><\/u><\/b>)<\/span><\/b>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Didn\u2019t\nmatter that I\u2019d never done this before. The Lord was about to do what He does\nbest: save, heal, deliver, make whole, etc., etc., etc. I didn\u2019t know else to\ndo but to take the man\u2019s confession at face value. So I put my hand on the\nbishop\u2019s shoulder and started in, \u201cYou Spirit of Adultery, come out of him in\nJesus\u2019 name.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What\nhappened next was something none of us were prepared for. He was yanked into\nmid-air and levitated as though by a gigantic unseen hand. His body rotated in\nthe air  horizontally, then slammed to the floor, and he began to writhe\non the floor like a snake. I\u2019d never seen the human body go through the\ncontortions he was going through. I didn't know the human body was capable of\nsuch things -- and, honestly, it isn't! Normally, that is.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Sorry,\nbut I have to leave you with another cliffhanger! Stay tuned, folks! This story\njust gets better and better.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
