ANOTHER COFFEE BREAK: APHIEMI HEALING, Part 31<\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div>

May 23, 2014<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

This is a strange way to begin today, but let me begin by asking\nyou a question. Why is it that we continue to put up with the physical attacks\non our bodies? Why do we simply accept colds, flu, headaches, allergies, sinus\nattacks, muscle aches and pains that just seem to be prolonged when we really\nhaven't done anything to stress or overtax our muscles and tendons?<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Let me take this one more step. Why do we stand idly by and just\nsay something like, "Oh, I'm so sorry. I'll pray for you," when we\nsee leaders in the body of Christ under attack?<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Now that I've got your attention, let me explain. Just about\neveryone who is involved in our weekly healing prayer calls has been under\nattack in some way or another. Dwain McKenzie is fighting with severe shoulder\npains. George Robinson is continually being hit with either heart issues\n(despite the fact that just a couple months back the doctors told him his heart\nwas "doing great!") or extreme shoulder and arm pains. Randy Ramhoff<\/span> has been hit with a variety of issues, any of which\nserve to distract him (or attempt to distract) from his focus on our prayer\ncalls.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Breaking away from our prayer calls, there's our prophetic\nbrother in the Lord with White Dove Ministries in Alabama, Paul Keith Davis,\nwho for some time has had to pull back from his travel schedule in ministry because\nof heart issues. Likewise, James Maloney (who is also a brother in prophetic\nministry) has had ongoing attacks against him that have curtailed .<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

What I'm getting at here is that when folks are out on the\nfrontline of ministry, they nearly always become the target of Satan's attacks.\nHe is not happy with them because they are taking territory from him and\nrepossessing spiritual land that he has held illegally.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

It goes beyond that, however. All of us as believers are\ncontinually under attack from the Enemy in one way or another. The time has\ncome for us to stand up and say, NO, YOU WILL NOT! As long as we tolerate or\naccept these attacks as "just something you have to put up with," we\nlet Satan get away with things we don't have to. Jesus paid for our freedom\nfrom sickness, disease, infirmity, demonic control and everything that came\nwith the curse! It's time for us to exercise the authority we have being\n"In Christ Jesus!"<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

That\nsaid, let me begin today's discussion (I'm playing catch-up after having been\nvery late with last Friday's post) with the translation that I did in last\nweek's Coffee Break from Romans 8:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

"For those whom He [the Father] could foresee and know\n[their choices and decisions] beforehand, He also did ordain and determine to\nbecome jointly formed and fashioned into the image and likeness of His Son, so\nthat He might be first begotten son among a multitude of brothers and sisters.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cFurthermore, those whom He ordained and determined [by virtue\nof knowing in advance their choices and decisions] He also called, beckoning\nthem in their inner beings; and those whom He called, He also determined and\ndeclared to be innocent [rendering judgment of them beforehand]; and those whom\nHe determined and declared to be innocent, He made glorious [magnifying them as\nHe magnified His Son].<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat shall we say, then, regarding these facts? If God the\nFather be for us, having made these determinations on our behalf, who can\npossibly succeed in opposing and withstanding us?"<\/span>(Romans 8:29-31, my\ntranslation with amplification)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

This\nis where we are in Jesus Christ! Unless we appropriate that place, however, we\nlive in unbelief, thinking that we somehow have to measure up to some kind of\nmystical and almost unattainable standard. The body of Christ has been so\npeppered with doctrines of unbelief that it is staggering. We've gone through\ncenturies of measurement standards trying to become pleasing in His sight based\non legalistic perceptions, all of which are rooted in the Fear of Evil.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

We\nMUST come to the place of accepting that there is nothing we can do to become\nrighteous in God's sight! I am righteous, folks, but NOT because I say so. I\ndidn't make myself righteous. The Lord says I am righteous, and that\nrighteousness comes by virtue of my being in Him! If the Lord says I am\nrighteous, why -- pray tell -- do I try to add to what He has already done in,\nfor, and through me?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Are\nmy performances (and that's all they are: performances<\/i><\/b>)\ngoing to improve on Jesus' suffering, the stripes He bore on my behalf, the\ncrown of thorns He suffered as it was thrust through His scalp and skull, the\nmocking and belittlement He took from the religious people as He hung on the Cross,\nthe indescribable torture his body took as nails were driven through His hands\nand feet, followed by being hung on the Cross and left to die slowly as the\nblood drained from His body, and -- finally -- dying and taking all of our\nsins, all of our iniquities (character flaws), all of our shortcomings, all of\nour diseases, and -- make sure you get this part of it!<\/i><\/b> --\nALL of the legal authority that Satan had exercised over us as his slaves!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Next,\nJesus took all that and dumped it at Satan's feet in Hell while He preached\ndeliverance to the captives that were there. Then, Father raised Him from the\ndead and set Him at His own right hand, imbued Him with that onoma<\/span> that is above every onoma<\/span>,\nrestoring to Jesus that authority and place He had enjoyed previously with\nFather in the Heavenlies<\/span>, and then bestowing upon\nJesus all the authority, power, character and makeup that was in Father to\nbegin with.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We're\nnot done, yet, folks! Then the apostle Paul tells us that:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Ephesians\n2:4-7<\/span><\/u><\/b> (NASB): <\/span>"But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love\nwith which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us\nalive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised\nus up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places<\/i> in\nChrist Jesus<\/u>, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing\nriches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

As\ncommitted believers in Jesus Christ, living our lives in absolute pursuit of\nHis receiving His inheritance in us and manifesting His Glory, THAT'S\nUS<\/b>, people! THAT'S US!<\/b>  We are seated with Christ Jesus in\nthe Heavenlies<\/span>! More than that, we are seated IN\nCHRIST!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It\u2019s\ntime for us to take on the nature of Spiritual Authority and talk about a\nhierarchy that exists in the spiritual realm. Just as there is a hierarchy that\noperates in the Kingdom of God, so also is there a hierarchy that operates and\nfunctions in the demonic.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout\nthe years I\u2019ve seen many Christians who were afraid to take on the demonic\nrealm because \u201cSatan is almost as powerful as God.\u201d Hogwash! Next to God, next\nto  the Lord Jesus Christ, and next to every blood-bought believer in\nChrist, Satan and his realm is a virtual nothing! His power is absolutely\ntime-limited, and he is running scared.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

This\nis a study that will likely take several weeks, so let\u2019s lay some foundations\nin our understanding of demonic hierarchy by looking at something Paul wrote:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Ephesians\n6:12<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span><\/u> <\/span>For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities<\/u><\/span> (arch\u00e9<\/span><\/i><\/b>), <\/span>against powers<\/u><\/span> (exousia<\/span><\/i><\/b>), <\/span>against the rulers of the darkness of this world<\/u><\/span> (kosmokrator<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>), <\/span>against spiritual wickedness<\/u><\/span> (pneumatikos<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\/poneria<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b>) <\/span>in high places.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

There\nis a clear hierarchy spelled out in this verse with four levels of Satan\u2019s\ncommand-level. Let\u2019s take a look at each of the words that occur in the Greek\ntext.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Arch\u00e9<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>: A head or a chief;\nfirst; creator, initiator; it means a causal beginning or act; origin; Arch\u00e9<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> means:\nextremity or outermost point, rule, authority, dominion; the verb form (<\/span>arch<\/span><\/i><\/b>o<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00f4<\/span><\/b><\/span>)<\/span><\/b> denotes being\nfirst, or to rule.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Exousia<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>: Permission,\nauthority, right, liberty, power to do anything; Exousia<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> denotes executive\npower, while arch\u00e9<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/b>represents the delegated authority representing that\npower. Exousia<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/b>means: it is allowed; one can; it is permitted; denying the\npresence of some hindrance.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Kosmokrator<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>: Contraction\nof kosmos<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> (order\nof world) and kratos<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/b>(power or authority); this word is used almost exclusively\nto describe demonic powers which rule or hold authority over certain parts of\nthe world, i.e., a lord of [certain or specific] darkness.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Pneumatikos<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\/poneria<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b>: There are two forms of the word pneumatikos<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> \u2013\nboth of which have the root (pneuma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>:<\/span><\/b> for wind or spirit): the first\nform<\/u> denoting a person under the influence or control of sin and its\npropensities; and the second<\/u> describing a spiritual man or\nwoman assisted by the Holy Spirit to perform supernatural acts. Pneumatikos<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> is\ndifferentiated from psuchikos<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/b>(soulishness<\/span>, soulish<\/span>\ncontrol, soulish<\/span> behavior).<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The\nsecond word used in this Greek phrase is poneria<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>,<\/span><\/b> which\nis derived from poneros<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> (a\nmalicious person), and identifies one who is not only evil, but expresses his\nmalice in such a way as to affect or influence or control the behavior and\/or\nactivities of others.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The\nGreek phrase utilizing these two words is usually translated \u201cspiritual\nwickedness\u201d (in [epouranios<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>]\nhigh places), but that translation misses the fact that Paul is describing spiritual\nforces at work in [usually] political or governmental places, operating through\nindividuals to maliciously alter their lives or their thoughts and activities\nin such a way as to prevent them from operating in, from and out of the Kingdom\nof God. How do these spiritual forces work?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

A\nclassic example would be Paul\u2019s use of the phrase in his letter to Timothy (I\nTimothy 4:1), <\/span>\u201cgiving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons,\u201d<\/span> thus causing\nthe individual to be manipulated by these demonic forces into believing\nsomething contrary to the Word of God, and thus rendering them ineffective and\nimpotent as believers in Christ.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The\nuse of the Greek word epouranios<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> in\nEphesians 6:12 makes the translation \u201chigh places\u201d somewhat misleading. This\nword is universally translated throughout the N.T. as \u201cof the heavens\u201d or\n\u201cheavenly\u201d places.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

As\nan adjunct to this, we have had teaching during the past months and years\ndealing with the \u201cfirst heaven, the second heaven and the third heaven,\u201d often\ntaking II Corinthians 12:2,4 out of context to paint an understanding of how or\nwhere demonic powers operate.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

I\nam indebted to E.W. Bullinger<\/span> for his Greek\ncommentary and lexicon as he draws strictly from the Word to clarify the\ndifference between the first, second and third heaven.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The\nGreek word, ouranos<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>,\nis a \u201cone-size fits all\u201d to describe the over-arching and all-embracing heaven\nbeneath which is the earth and all that is therein. (Contrast this to our\nwestern thought and mindset which creates boundaries for different heavens.)\nThe plural nominative form of ouranos<\/i><\/span> <\/span><\/b>is epouranios<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> (heavenly) and\ndefines that which is \u201cof the heavenly (or spiritual) realm.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Genesis\n1:1 tells us: <\/span>\u201cIn the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.\u201d <\/span>Peter tells us (see\nII Peter 3:5,6) that <\/span>\u201cThe heavens were of old,\nand the earth standing out of the water and in the water; whereby the world<\/span> <\/span>(kosmos<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/b>),<\/span> that then was, being overflowed with water, perished.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

What\nsucceeded that heavens and earth is called (see II Peter 3:7) <\/span>\u201cThe heavens and the earth which now are.\u201d <\/span>John now calls these\n(see Revelation 21:1) <\/span>\u201cthe first heaven and the\nfirst earth,\u201d<\/span> that\nis to say, the former (see also verse 4)(I will explain this a bit better next\nweek).<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

These\nare <\/span>\u201ckept in store, reserved unto fire.\u201d <\/span>In the day of the\nLord <\/span>\u201cthe heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the\nelements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and all the works therein\nshall be burned up.\u201d <\/span>Again in verse 12 he says, <\/span>\u201cThe heavens being on fire shall be dissolved.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

What\nshall follow is called (see II Peter 3:13) <\/span>\u201cNew\nheavens and a new earth;\u201d <\/span>and in Revelation 21:1, <\/span>\u201cA new\nheaven and a new earth.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

In\nIsaiah 65:17, God says, <\/span>\u201cBehold I create new\nheavens, and a new earth.\u201d<\/span> (See also Isaiah 51:16 and 66:22)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

We\nthus have three heavens.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The\nfirst heaven<\/span><\/u> is\nseen in II Peter 3:5, 6: <\/span>\u201cThe heavens were of old\nand the earth.\u201d<\/span> Also: <\/span>\u201cThe world that then was.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The\nsecond heaven<\/span><\/u> is\nseen in II Peter 3:7: <\/span>\u201cThe heavens and the\nearth which now are.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The\nthird heaven<\/span><\/u>,\nthen, is first revealed in Isaiah 65:17: <\/span>\u201cThe\nnew heavens and the new earth.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

As\nBullinger<\/span> notes in his commentary, \u201cThe origin, causes and progress of these changes make up\nthe whole subject matter of the Word of God.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

A\ngreat deal has been made of Paul\u2019s comment in II Corinthians 12 about being\n\u201ccaught away into the third heaven,\u201d and this statement has been taken out of\nthe context of all the other scriptures. Our western mindset sets boundaries\nand tries to proscribe a lower heaven which reaches to a certain boundary,\nwhere a second heaven takes over; and from the limits of that second heaven to\na third boundary line where the third heaven exists. There really is nothing in\nthe Word anywhere that allows for this kind of interpretation.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Paradise\nwas in the First heaven and earth (see Genesis 2). The earthly part \u201cperished\u201d\nwith them at the flood, and therefore is absent in the Second. It appears again\nin the Third, with its Tree of Life (see Revelation 2:7, 22:1, 2, 14). To this\n\u201cThird heaven\u201d and \u201cParadise\u201d Paul was caught away (see II Corinthians 12:2,\n4), not \u201cup\u201d, in visions and revelations of the Lord.\u201d (See II Corinthians\n12:1) He was transported into the future!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

It\nis, therefore, one \u201ccatching away\u201d with a double revelation of the New heaven\nand the New Earth, the whole earth being then a \u201cParadise.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

In\nthe light of this revelation we must \u2013 in Luke 23:43 \u2013 place the comma after\nthe word \u201ctoday,\u201d which would be required according to the structure of the\nGreek phrasing (compare Luke 22:34 and Matthew 21:28 with Mark 14:30, Luke 4:21\nand 19:9).<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019ve\ntaken this look at the \u201cfirst, second and third heaven\u201d because it bears\ndirectly on Ephesians 6:12 and the spiritual authority that we have being\nseated in the Heavenlies<\/span> in Christ Jesus. The last\nphrase in this verse says that we wrestle with \u201cspiritual wickedness in\nheavenly places\u201d or more accurately \u201cin the heavens.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

I'm\ngoing to pause here for today and pick it up at this point next week. Without a\ndoubt, my sharing today has been quite technical in terms of the Greek, and I'm\nsorry it is necessary to stop here because today's sharing is very incomplete.\nBear with me. We'll complete this picture -- or at least this part of it --\nnext week.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
