Good Morning! We have lots to talk about today, so let's get\nright to it!<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Romans 6:1-7 (NASB)<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span><\/b> <\/span><\/i><\/b>What shall we say then?\nAre we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? 2<\/sup>May it\nnever be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it? 3<\/sup>Or do\nyou not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been\nbaptized into His death<\/u>? 4<\/sup>Therefore we have been\nburied with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from\nthe dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of\nlife<\/u>. 5<\/sup>For if we have become united with Him<\/i> in\nthe likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness<\/i> of\nHis resurrection, 6<\/sup>knowing this, that our old self was\ncrucified with Him,<\/i> in order that our body of sin might be\ndone away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; 7<\/sup>for\nhe who has died is freed from sin.<\/span> <\/span>(See also the\nAmplified Version)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

II Corinthians 5:21<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/i><\/span><\/b>For He hath made<\/span> (poieo<\/u><\/i><\/span>: appointed or committed<\/i>) <\/span><\/b>Him who knew no sin to be<\/i> sin <\/span>(hamartia<\/u><\/i><\/span>: error, missing the mark, failing\nto receive the prize<\/i>)<\/span><\/b> for us, so that we\nmight be made <\/span>(ginomai<\/u><\/span>: [re-]generated) <\/span><\/i><\/b>the righteousness <\/span>(dikaiosune<\/u><\/span>:\njustification, made just, holy \u2014 like God)<\/span><\/i><\/b>: of God in Him.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Della\nreceived a download \u2014 a revelation \u2014of this picture a couple years ago in one\nof our early-morning times of prayer and intercession. She saw that when Jesus\nkept our appointment with death, He made it as though it had never been. The\nway she received it was \u201cjust as if it had never been\u201d \u2014 hence, \u201cjustification.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

See\nthe picture? Our appointment with death ceased to exist. It was as though it\nnever existed in the first place. The same is true of all the aspects of the\ncurse that comes with death: sickness, disease, infirmity, weakness, poverty,\nneed of any kind; it was made as though it had never existed. Jesus canceled it\nout so totally and completely that it was as if it had never been.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Have\nyou ever noticed how Jesus only commanded the keeping of two statutes, customs\nor ordinances for us as believers? Both of them incorporate the end of death\nand the cancellation of our appointment with death.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The first<\/u> of\nthe two commands comes in the observance of the Table of the Lord.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I Corinthians 11:23-26 (NASB)<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span><\/b>For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you,\nthat the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when\nHe had given thanks, He broke it and said, \u201cThis is My body, which is for you;\ndo this in remembrance of Me.\u201d In the same way He took<\/i> the cup\nalso after supper, saying, \u201cThis cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this,\nas often as you drink it,<\/i> in remembrance of Me.\u201d For as often\nas you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord\u2019s death until He\ncomes.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The second<\/u> of\nthe two commandments came after Jesus was crucified and had risen from the\ndead. This second of the two commandments had the force of the Throne of God\nbacking it in terms of its demonstrative authority and power. Both Matthew and\nMark record this command:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Matthew 28:18-20<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span><\/b>And Jesus came and spake<\/span> unto them,\nsaying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19<\/sup>Go\nye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father,\nand of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20<\/sup>Teaching them to\nobserve all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway<\/span>, even<\/i> unto the end of the world.\nAmen.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mark 16:15-16<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span><\/b>And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the\ngospel to every creature. 16<\/sup>He that believeth<\/span> (<\/span><\/b>pisteuo<\/span><\/u><\/i><\/b><\/span>: exercises faith<\/span><\/i><\/b>)<\/span><\/b> <\/span><\/b>and is baptized<\/span> (<\/span><\/b>baptizo<\/span><\/u><\/i><\/b><\/span>: covered over, fully\nwhelmed by water or fluid<\/span><\/i><\/b>) <\/span><\/b>shall be saved<\/span> (<\/span><\/b>sozo<\/span><\/u><\/i><\/b><\/span>: saved, delivered,\nhealed, protected, made to prosper, made whole and complete<\/span><\/i><\/b>); <\/span><\/b>but he that believeth not shall be damned<\/span> <\/span>(<\/span><\/b>katakrino<\/span><\/u><\/i><\/b><\/span>:\njudged, condemned and sentenced<\/span><\/i><\/b>).<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Ever\nwonder what baptism is all about? Have you ever considered why Jesus would make\nsuch a command in the first place? Then consider what He said when He was\npreaching to Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews and a Pharisee.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

John 3:5-8<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span><\/b>Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except\na man be born of water and of<\/i> the Spirit<\/u>, he cannot enter\ninto the kingdom of God. 6<\/sup>That which is born of the flesh is\nflesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7<\/sup>Marvel\nnot that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8<\/sup>The wind bloweth<\/span> where it listeth<\/span>, and\nthou hearest<\/span> the sound thereof, but canst not tell\nwhence it cometh, and whither it goeth<\/span>: so is every\none that is born of the Spirit.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Remember\nwhat happened when the centurion pierced Jesus\u2019 side while He was hanging on\nthe Cross? Water and blood came forth from Him. Jesus\u2019 last words before He\ndied were, \u201cIt is finished!\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And\nwhat was finished? Death. What was finished? A new birth was taking place: a\nbride was being birthed for the Lord Jesus Christ. But this birth was unlike\nany in history. In the realm of the flesh, a birth takes place in the midst of\nwater and blood. Babies come forth out of the water or amniotic fluid that\nkeeps them alive while they are still in the womb, and blood accompanies the\nbirthing process.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Jesus,\nhowever, made it clear that this new birth was NOT of water \u2014 not in the normal\nsense \u2014 nor of blood, even though His blood was shed in the process. A\nsupernatural transformation \u2014 a regeneration \u2014 was taking place. This new birth\nwas taking place in that realm which has authority and power over the flesh and\nthe soul: the spirit. A dimensional change was occurring.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Hence,\nJesus said to Nicodemus, <\/span>\u201cThat which is born of\nthe flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.\u201c<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Because\ndeath only affects our flesh, because death has power over unredeemed flesh, a\nnew kind of birth had to take place \u2014 one that had never before occurred in\nhistory.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Think\nback to when Adam was created. He wasn\u2019t born in the normal sense of the word.\nHe was formed, molded and created by the Hand of God, but not until God\nbreathed into him the breath of His Spirit did Adam become a living, breathing,\nspeaking being. Adam was born, or rather began his existence, of and by the\nSpirit of God. Adam\u2019s very breath was the Spirit of God. He existed by the\nSpirit.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The\nBlessing operated in and through him by the Spirit. He ruled and had dominion\nover the earth (and all that was therein) by the Spirit. (See Psalm 115:16)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

When\nAdam missed the mark (hamartia<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>)\n\u2014 the prize of God\u2019s high calling in him \u2014 and ate of the Tree of the Knowledge\nof Good and Evil, he ingested HIV: the human immunodeficiency virus, which was\ninherent in the fruit of that tree. As we all know, there is no cure for HIV.\nDeath is the permanent result. And that death is genetically passed on to every\ngeneration which follows.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Let\u2019s\nget back to the Table of the Lord.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Why\ndid Jesus command us to eat and drink of Him \u2014 and do it often? The apostle\nPaul was very clear in his explanation.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you\nproclaim<\/span> (<\/span><\/b>kataggelo<\/span><\/u><\/i><\/b><\/span>:\nannounce and demonstrate, promulgate<\/span><\/i><\/b>) <\/span><\/b>the Lord\u2019s death until He comes.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Now\nyou\u2019re beginning to get the picture. Jesus\u2019 most earnest desire is that we\npromulgate, that we announce to the world the fact that He kept our appointment\nwith death. We no longer have to suffer death, disease, sickness, infirmity,\npoverty, etc. But there\u2019s more.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It\nis important that we not only show the world our deliverance from death: we\nmust also demonstrate to Satan, to principalities, to rulers of this world\u2019s\ndarkness, that we\u2019ve been set free from the curse of death, that we\u2019ve been\nfreed from Satan\u2019s dominion, that we\u2019ve been restored the authority, the power\nand the dominion originally given to Adam in the Garden of Eden.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Water\nbaptism does just that. This ordinance \u2014 this statute \u2014has enormous spiritual\nsignificance. This isn\u2019t for the world\u2019s sake, even though it is part of an\noutward show, a demonstration of a spiritual regeneration that has taken place.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This\nis a \u201cHands Off!\u201d declaration to Satan. This is the posting of a legal decree\nwhich clearly states we are no longer members of that class of human beings\nsubject to the Law of Sin and Death. The old being which was subject to death\nand had the \u201cknowledge virus\u201d in our genes has been put to death.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The\nappointment with death has been kept. The person who then comes up out of the\nwater is raised from the dead by the Spirit of God. This newly-born individual\nis born again \u2014 both of water AND of the Spirit!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Once\nagain we have Paul\u2019s description to the Romans: <\/span>\u201call of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been\nbaptized into His death.<\/u>\u201c<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Yessir<\/span><\/span>! The appointment\nwith death has been kept.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And\nagain Paul says, <\/span>\u201cas Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the\nFather, so we too might walk in newness of life.<\/u>\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The\n\u201cnew us\u201d is no longer subject to the Law of Sin and Death.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Romans 8:2<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span><\/b>For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me\nfree from the law of sin and death.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The\n\u201cnew us\u201d is free from death, sickness, disease, infirmity, weakness, poverty,\nneed, etc. Now we\u2019re free to demonstrate Jesus! Jesus established a pattern for\nall believers when He was baptized in the River Jordan by John and a remarkable\nthing took place. We need to look at this event in context.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Matthew 3:13-17<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span><\/b>Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be\nbaptized of him. But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of\nthee, and comest<\/span> thou to me? And Jesus answering said\nunto him, Suffer it to be so<\/i> now: for thus it becometh<\/span> us to fulfil<\/span> all\nrighteousness. Then he suffered him. And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up\nstraightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he\nsaw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a\nvoice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Up\nto this time, Jesus had been an ordinary man. Yes, He was the Son of God, and\nYes, He was destined to bring deliverance from the curse, but He had not yet\nbeen empowered to do so by the Father.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As\nfar as the world was concerned, Jesus was just another man \u2014 a gifted man, One\nwhose knowledge of the Scripture at age 12 had astounded the most learned among\nthe priests, the Levites, the Pharisees, the Sadducees and scholars \u2014 but still\nseen as an ordinary man.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Nothing\nexhibited in His life thus far could be quantified as \u201cdivine\u201d or\n\u201csupernatural.\u201d For His ministry to begin, something extraordinary had to take\nplace. There had to be a transition from \u201cordinary\u201d to \u201cnaturally supernatural\nand supernaturally natural.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Notice\nwhat happened when Jesus was baptized.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1.<\/span><\/b> He transferred\nHis citizenship to the Kingdom of Heaven.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

2.<\/span><\/b> The Holy Spirit\nappeared on the scene, settling as a dove on Jesus before all who witnessed\nthis event.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

3.<\/span><\/b> All Heaven was\nput on notice that Jesus was now THE<\/span><\/i> <\/b>SON\nOF GOD.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

4.<\/span><\/b> The Father\nspoke out of Heaven and stated emphatically and unequivocally, \u201cThis is My\nBeloved Son!\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

5<\/span><\/b>.<\/span> As the SON OF\nGOD, He was now vested with the authority and power of The Father.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

6.<\/span><\/b> The \u201cman\u201d Jesus\nhad become the Messiah, the Christ, The \u201cAnointed One.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

7.<\/span><\/b> Baptism\ndemonstrated before principalities and powers, before the rulers of the\ndarkness of this world, before Satan himself that the \u201cold Jesus\u201d was dead.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

8.<\/span><\/b> A \u201cNew Man\u201d had\ncome forth out of the grave, resurrected by the power of God, transformed into\na trans-dimensional Being with the ability to function both in this natural\nrealm and in the realm of the Spirit.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Are\nyou seeing it? God the Father vested Himself in and made clear to all<\/i> that\nJesus WAS His Son, His appointed and commissioned family member to bring\nredemption from the curse of death, and from the curse of the Law of Sin and\nDeath.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The\nfact that Satan saw this event take place or was notified of it shook him and\nhis kingdom to the core. What\u2019s the first thing that Satan did when Jesus \u2014\nafter fasting for 40 days \u2014 was at his weakest, physically and emotionally?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Right.\nHe questioned Jesus repeatedly as to His status as THE Son of God, attempting\nto trick Him into yielding to the desires of His flesh. Were Jesus to have\nyielded to even one of these temptations, He would have forfeited His Sonship<\/span> status and condemned the human race to perpetuity\nin slavery and bondage to Satan and the curse.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Satan\nwould have had the upper hand. Jesus could not yield. He must not! And He would\nnot \u2014 not under any circumstances. His baptism had already demonstrated to\nSatan that the \u201cman\u201d Jesus \u2014 the natural man, Jesus \u2014 was dead. The risen Jesus\nwas the Son of God.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This\nis exactly what happens with us. Now do you understand why Jesus said,\n"Except you eat my flesh and drink my blood, no have no life in you\u201d? Now\nyou can understand why water baptism plays such an important role in the life\nof every believer.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Gotta<\/span><\/span> leave it there for\ntoday. I'm still not done with this.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
