ANOTHER COFFEE BREAK: UNDERSTANDING PROPHECY IV<\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div>

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Let\u2019s see if we can wrap up this discussion on prophecy\ntoday.\u00a0 <\/span>I\u2019d really like to get back to\nthe Psalm 23 Adventure next week if at all possible.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

We left off two weeks ago talking about the trap of false\nprophecy and those who speak it.\u00a0 <\/span>Let\u2019s\nrecap at bit and then move on.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Consider the Word of the Lord\nspoken through Jeremiah.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>\u201cFor among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait,\nas he that setteth<\/span> snares; they set a trap, they\ncatch men.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Who indeed are these \u201cwicked\nmen\u201d?\u00a0 <\/span>Simply put, they are none other\nthan those who prophesy falsely in the \u201cname of the Lord.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>The trap they set for God\u2019s people is to\ncreate a scenario that stirs them to busyness and activities which keep them\nfrom really knowing the Lord Jesus Christ and enjoying a truly intimate\nrelationship.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The \u201csnares\u201d they set are rooted\nin Scripture verses, taken out of context, and used to make God\u2019s people engage\nin fruitless endeavors in the mistaken belief that they are \u201cpreparing for\nevents that lie ahead.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>The seduction of\nthis use of Scripture is that it causes people who heed these lying prophecies\nto believe they are walking in the will of God, that they are serving Him, and\nthat there is a long-term purpose.\u00a0 <\/span>Many\nare led to believe that they are fulfilling an important role in the Kingdom of\nGod, that what they do will usher in \u201cThe Millennium.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This use of Scripture \u201ccatches\u201d\n(snares) men and women.\u00a0 <\/span>Because their\nrelationship with the Lord is based on the knowledge of some Scripture(s)\ninstead of the knowledge of Jesus Christ Himself, they are caught in a trap.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

False prophets do not set out to\nbe \u201cwicked men\u201d in most cases, nor do they believe that they are leading men\nand women astray.\u00a0 <\/span>Because they,\nthemselves, have been led astray by their \u201cknowledge<\/i>\nof Scripture,\u201d they actually believe the error they propagate; and their\nprophecies are all the more convincing.\u00a0\n<\/span>Because there is an element of truth in what they say \u2013 that element\noften being something that God has spoken in the past \u2013 it provides a\nfoundation, and the conviction that what they speak is truth.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The Spirit of Error ALWAYS\ncontains pieces or fragments of truth.\u00a0\n<\/span>That is how folks can be seduced and sent down the primrose path.\u00a0 <\/span>They recognize the bits of truth, but lack\nthe discernment to separate truth from error.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Continuing on with Jeremiah\u2019s\nprophecy, he says, <\/span>\u201cA wonderful and\nhorrible thing is committed in the land; the prophets prophesy falsely, and the\npriests bear rule by their means\u2026.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Do you understand this?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Jeremiah is drawing a picture of\nwhat is happening in the Body of Christ today.\u00a0\n<\/span>We have these false prophets who dote on their favorite \u201cend time\u201d\ndoctrine.\u00a0 <\/span>They create all kinds of\nimaginative scenarios \u2013 based on a mistaken translation of a Scripture \u2013 that\npredict \u201can\u201d Antichrist.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>They attempt\nto target certain emerging or existing world leaders and try to figure out\ntheir \u201cnumber.\u201d <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

They prophesy a 3 1\/2-year period\n(or a seven-year period \u2013 depending on who you listen to -- of world peace,\nfollowed by persecution and chaos lasting another 3 1\/2 years (or whatever\nnumber they pull out of the hat), followed by plagues, catastrophes and\ndestruction that kill off a major portion of the world\u2019s population.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Then you have pastors and church\nleaders of every ilk who are consumed by one of these scenarios and begin to\nteach the people they lead.\u00a0 <\/span>The focus of\nattention among some Christians then becomes \u201cthe coming tribulation\u201d and how\nto escape it.\u00a0 <\/span>Others get lulled to sleep\nin the fantasy that when this \u201ctribulation\u201d begins to sweep the globe, they\nwill be suddenly snatched up to be with Jesus Christ in Heaven while all of\nthis takes place.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

NONE<\/span><\/b> of them teach an intimate relationship with Jesus\nChrist.\u00a0 <\/span>NONE<\/b> of them focus of the heart of the Lord.\u00a0 <\/span>NONE<\/b>\nof them seek to bring those they lead into a place of personal victory,\novercoming, and ruling in this present hour.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

There is no thought\ngiven to what Jesus gets out of the whole deal<\/span><\/i><\/b>.\u00a0 <\/span>Everything is wrapped up in what they<\/b> get, how their flesh<\/b> will be protected, and how they<\/b> will survive the cataclysmic events.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The spirit that is in control of\nthis teaching is The Fear of Death.\u00a0 <\/span>It\nwants people to be overly concerned about their personal well-being.\u00a0 <\/span>It lies to God\u2019s people by making Psalm 91\nnonexistent.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Whatever happened to <\/span>\u201cHe that dwelleth<\/span> in the secret\nplace of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.\u201d?<\/span> <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Whatever happened to <\/span>\u201cThere shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any\nplague come nigh thy dwelling.\u201d?<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

But Jeremiah doesn\u2019t stop\nthere.\u00a0 <\/span>He continues, <\/span>\u201c\u2026and my people love to have it<\/span> so.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Why?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The Fear of Death creates a false\nsense of purpose in people.\u00a0 <\/span>It deceives\nthem with the conviction that they<\/i><\/b> are in control of things.\u00a0 <\/span>They are deceived by the lie that they know<\/i><\/b>\nwhat is going to unfold.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The Fear of Death creates a false\nboldness that causes people to run straight into the death they fear, believing\nthey can beat the odds.\u00a0 <\/span>That knowledge\ngives them a sense of power, of self-destiny, of being able to deal with the\nthings that are going to unfold.\u00a0 <\/span>Human\nnature wants<\/i><\/b> to be in control.\u00a0\n<\/span>It loves and fosters the idea that we can control the outcome.\u00a0 <\/span>Fear demands that there be no unknown element\nto life that we cannot deal with.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The spiritual aspect of it is even\nworse!\u00a0 <\/span>Many Christians have a mis<\/span>-directed perception of \u201crapture\u201d as an event that will\nsnatch them out of harm\u2019s way when the \u201cGreat Tribulation\u201d comes.\u00a0 <\/span>It gives them a false sense of security.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Thus, <\/span>\u201cmy people love to\nhave it<\/span> so.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And why not?\u00a0 <\/span>Hey, if you can live your life being in\ncontrol of the circumstances, if you think you have nothing to be afraid of\n(even though you are being driven by a spirit of fear), well you are one of\nGod\u2019s very blessed children!\u00a0 <\/span>Why\nwouldn\u2019t you love this false teaching?\u00a0\n<\/span>Believing it puts you in control.\u00a0\n<\/span>It is comfortable!\u00a0 <\/span>It is\nsatisfying!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

But Jeremiah isn\u2019t done. <\/span>\u201dAnd what will ye do in the end thereof?\u201d<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b>Understand?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

God is clearly saying \u201cNow what\nare you going to do when I direct the affairs of this age in a different\nway?\u00a0 <\/span>What will you do when a day of\njudgment and truth arrives?\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>What will\nyou do when disaster unfolds before you and you have believed you were going to\nbe snatched out of it?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The purpose of prophecy is to\nfulfill the heart\u2019s desire of the Lord Jesus Christ, to complete Him with a\npeople who\u2019ve been purified by fire, a people who are his counterpart, His\nother self \u2013 a people with whom He can fellowship with on His level.\u00a0 <\/span>It is not to titillate the minds of people\nwith exciting or foreboding \u201cwhat if\u2019s.\u201d\u00a0\n<\/span>Prophecy is not intended to bring fear; its purpose is to bring change \u2013\nthe kind of change that increases your personal relationship with Christ Jesus.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Prophecy \u2013 that Spirit of Prophecy\ncoming straight out of the heart of the Lord Jesus Christ \u2013 has a central\npurpose for this era; and that purpose is to develop a Bride who is the\nco-equal counterpart of the Lord \u2013 one who thrives and excels in the midst of\npressure, tribulation, one who is a true \u201covercomer<\/span>.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>Let\u2019s not forget the message to each of the\nseven Ekklesias<\/span> in Revelation, Chapters 2 & 3.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

So, why am I sharing this\nnow?\u00a0 <\/span>Because the events that are going\nto unfold during 2017 are going to really mess with a lot of prophecies that\nhave been written or spoken during the past months.\u00a0 <\/span>Consider, for example, the prophecies and\npredictions that were at the heart of this past presidential race and its\noutcome.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Except for a very few real\nprophets who KNEW the heart of Father well before the votes were cast, there\nwere a multitude of \u201cgloom and doomers<\/span>\u201d predicting\neverything under the sun if Donald Trump were elected.\u00a0 <\/span>What they failed to hear was the heart of the\nLord Jesus Christ for America.\u00a0 <\/span>What they\nfailed to understand was that literally millions of Christians were praying,\ninterceding and standing in the gap for this nation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Della and I participated in the\nLancaster Conference in August of this year, and we were there when Sadhu<\/span> Sundar<\/span> Selvaraj<\/span>\nshared his experience of being in the prophetic counsels in Heaven and seeing\nDonald Trump show up when the question was asked, \u201cWho has been appointed to be\nthe next president of the United States.\u201d\u00a0\n<\/span>The question was quickly answered as Moses pointed to Trump and said,\n\u201cThis is who has been appointed.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It was clear that God had\nappointed someone to clean up the sewer that Washington, D.C. has become.\u00a0 <\/span>As we shared together the following morning\nover the breakfast table with Neville Johnson and Bruce Allen (both of whom\nwere major speakers in the conference), common theme was that we were in store\nfor a major housecleaning in our government, its structure, its policies and\nits direction.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Della and I shook our heads when\nwe saw the dismay in the faces of so many folks at that conference.\u00a0 <\/span>Trump\u2019s appointment was the last thing those\nfolks wanted.\u00a0 <\/span>There was an audible\nreaction from many folks \u2013 all of whom were Christians \u2013 who vehemently\ndisagreed with God\u2019s choice.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Will there be some chaos as that\ncleaning begins?\u00a0 <\/span>You bet.\u00a0 <\/span>I\u2019ve heard two things in my spirit about the\ncoming year.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

1.     \n<\/span><\/span><\/span>2017 will be the worst\nyear that many folks have ever experienced.\u00a0\n<\/span>When I say this, I\u2019m talking about people who are not in union with the\nLord Jesus Christ.\u00a0 <\/span>I see many natural\ndisasters unfolding \u2013 disasters that will affect millions of people \u2013 and yet,\nfor the overwhelming majority of Christians who might otherwise see their own\nlives turned upside down, they will find themselves enveloped in a cloak of\nprotection while things go awry about them.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The changes coming within our governmental system are going to shake up a\nwhole lot of folks who\u2019ve made government their source of supply, their \u201cgod,\u201d\nif you please.\u00a0 <\/span>If people don\u2019t have\ntheir trust and confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ, if He isn\u2019t their\n\u201csource,\u201d if He isn\u2019t their protection, it will be utterly traumatic.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

2.     \n<\/span><\/span><\/span>2017 will be the best\nand most prosperous year for an overwhelming majority of believers who walk in\na place of union, intimacy and love with the Lord Jesus Christ.\u00a0 <\/span>What God has in store for His people is\nsomething that He has covenanted in His Word \u2013 and that is their becoming \u201cthe\nhead and not the tail.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That has a lot of connotations, including becoming \u201cthe lenders and not the\nborrowers.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>It represents the promise\nand covenant of God to place those of His people who walk according to His Word\nand His very heartbeat in places of governmental leadership, corporate\nleadership, community leadership.\u00a0 <\/span>It\nrepresents their being the picture of the Glory of the Lord being revealed in\nthe Earth.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I didn\u2019t make any of this up.\u00a0 <\/span>All\nyou have to do is to read Isaiah 60 to get a real picture of what is unfolding\nin front of us.\u00a0 <\/span>This is a time for God\u2019s\npeople to <\/span>\u201cArise, Shine, for the Glory of the Lord is\nrisen upon thee!\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

There\u2019s a whole lot\nmore I could add to this, but I don\u2019t want to present it as prophecy simply\nbecause I have first-hand knowledge of major-breaking events that are taking\nplace behind the scenes that will change the landscape. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Understanding and knowing the heart of the Lord\nJesus Christ are integral to understanding prophecy, its purpose, and its goal.\u00a0 <\/span>By the grace of God, I hope that this series\nwill help give you a better understanding of the heart of the Lord and a new\nperspective of prophecy in the days to come.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Della\nand I have been talking about this prophecy thing.\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s been a part of our lives since we were\nkids \u2013 both of us.\u00a0 <\/span>The Lord began to\nreveal Himself to us when we were both in our very early youth and to set the\nstage for the ministry He has called us to.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\ndon\u2019t run around calling ourselves prophets just because we don\u2019t feel like it\nis the thing to do.\u00a0 <\/span>If that calling and\nanointing is evident in us, we let the testimony of the Lord speak for itself on\nour behalf.\u00a0 <\/span>We don\u2019t have to justify\nourselves and we don\u2019t have to prove anything.\u00a0\n<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

If we\nare real, the signs that follow become the proof.\u00a0 <\/span>They are the living testimony seen and read\nof all.\u00a0 <\/span>If we are fakes, the signs\nfollowing us (or lack thereof) will also demonstrate that.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That\u2019s going to do it for now for\nthis series.\u00a0 <\/span>There\u2019s so much more I\ncould share, but I really want to get back to the prophetic picture of the 23rd<\/sup>\nPsalm and the adventure that God has for everyone who will follow in the Paths\nof Righteousness.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n
