Well......Howdy!<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Vitamins!\nYeah, you know, those four-inch in diameter old fashioned kind with the holes\nin the middle and the frosting on the outside. Got a bunch of them on hand for\ntoday\u2019s discussion. Uhh<\/span> Ohh<\/span>.\nThey\u2019re not on my change-of-diet. Shhhhh<\/span>\u2026..don\u2019t tell\nDella. Shelley went to Safeway and brought them home. We\u2019re supposed to be in\nthe middle of a major diet change. Gotta<\/span> lose some of\nthis flab and get back in shape again.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Better\ngrab them before somebody else does. Pour yourself a nice 16-ouncer of Dark\nRoasted Columbian while you\u2019re at it.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Without\nany preliminaries, reminiscing or new adventures, let's get right back into our\ndiscussion on the Seven Spirits of God as the expression of Jesus' onoma<\/span> -- His character, His makeup, His likeness.....the\nvery essence of Who He is!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

We\nwrapped our last Coffee Break by saying that because the Spirit of Grace and\nSupplications was at work during the whole act of Creation, He was involved in\nthe selection and ordaining that we should be placed as full-grown, mature and\ncommissioned sons of God alongside the Lord Jesus Christ as His heirs and\njoint-heirs.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

The\nword translated \u201cadoption\u201d in the KJV is taken from the Greek:<\/span> <\/span>huiothesia<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>. This is the word\nwhich denotes the giving and granting of equal status as trusted \u201csons\u201d\nlegally. We\u2019ve already discussed this in the past, but the word huios<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/span> <\/span>is\ndistinguished from<\/span> <\/span>teknon<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> <\/span>\u2013\nalso translated as \u201cson\u201d and<\/span> <\/span>nepios<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

A teknon<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/span> <\/span>is\nany son between the age of 12 and 30 who is yet (as Paul describes in\nGalatians) under tutors and governors \u201cuntil the time appointed of the father.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

A nepios<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/span> <\/span>is\na child under the age of 12 who has no recognized voice of experience or\nauthority to speak, and is therefore regarded as \u201cnot speaking.\u201d (There are two\nother Greek words which describe a newborn babe, and one who has not yet been\nweaned from the milk, but I won't get into those today.)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

The\nword, huios<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>,\ndesignates one who has reached the \u201ctime appointed of the father\u201d and is\nrecognized as someone who can speak for the father with his authority and\nexercise the father\u2019s power.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

When\nJesus was baptized in the Jordan River, the Father spoke from Heaven and used\nthe same phraseology the Jews were accustomed to hearing when a son reached\n\u201cthe time appointed of the father.\u201d That phraseology was, \u201cThis is my Beloved\nSon (huios<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>)\nin Whom I am well pleased.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

The\nSpirit of Grace and Supplications was being manifested on that occasion since \u201csonship<\/span>\u201d was officially granted. Jesus became the\nofficially recognized \u201cSon of God\u201d in that moment. The Spirit of Grace and\nSupplications has been tasked with seeing that we are \u201choly and without blame\nbefore Him [The Father] in love.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

His\nobjective is to so work in our lives that we become transformed<\/span> <\/span>\u201cto the praise of the glory of His grace\u201d<\/span> <\/span>in\norder that we become accepted, recognized and commissioned as \u201cSons of God\u201d \u2013\nheirs and joint-heirs with Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nSpirit of Grace was at work in Jesus Christ when He redeemed us from the curse\nthrough His Blood, forgave all of our sins and iniquities, and \u2013 together with\nthe Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation \u2013 poured Himself into us in such a way that\nwe would manifest the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

John\ndemonstrates how the Spirit of Grace and Supplications was at work in Jesus in\nthe following statements:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

John 1:14<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span><\/b> <\/span>And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld\nhis glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and\ntruth.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

John 1:16-17<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span><\/b> <\/span>And of his fulness<\/span> have all we\nreceived, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but<\/i> grace\nand truth came by Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Writing\nin Acts, Luke tells us the following:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Acts 4:33<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span><\/b> <\/span>And with great power gave the apostles witness<\/u> of\nthe resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all<\/u>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Writing\nto the Romans, the apostle Paul says:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Romans 3:21-26<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span><\/b> <\/span>But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested,\nbeing witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of\nGod which is<\/i> by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all\nthem that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come\nshort of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through\nthe redemption that is in Christ Jesus<\/u>: Whom God hath set forth to\nbe<\/i> a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his\nrighteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance\nof God; To declare, I say<\/i>, at this time his righteousness:\nthat he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Are\nyou seeing the picture? The Spirit of Grace and Supplications was at work in\nJesus Christ in order to bring redemption to us. The Spirit of Grace releases\nand declares the Word to us in such a way that we hear the rhema<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> <\/i>and\nfaith is generated in us in the Blood of Jesus.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

We\noften quote Paul\u2019s statement in Romans 4:17 as our authority for<\/span> <\/span>\u201ccalling those things that be not as though they were\u201d<\/span>, but we need to see\nthe context of that statement.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Romans 4:16-17<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span><\/b> <\/span>Therefore it is<\/i> of\nfaith, that it might be<\/i> by grace; to the end the promise might\nbe sure to all the seed<\/span><\/u>; not to that only which\nis of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the\nfather of us all, (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many\nnations,) before him whom he believed, even<\/i> God, who quickeneth<\/span> the dead, and calleth<\/span>\nthose things which be not as though they were.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Now\ndo you see it? Faith is released by the Spirit of Grace and Supplications so\nthat the promise of this authority can be made \u201csure to all the seed\u201d of\nAbraham.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nSpirit of Grace and Supplications is the driving force of faith<\/span><\/u>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Let\u2019s\nwrap up this part of our discussion with a look at what Paul writes in his\nletter to the Hebrews.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Hebrews 4:14-16<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span><\/b> <\/span>Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed\ninto the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our<\/i> profession.  <\/sup>For\nwe have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our\ninfirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet<\/i> without\nsin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may\nobtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need<\/u>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

The\nboldness that drives our faith \u2013 that same faith that enables us to come before\nthe Throne of Grace \u2013 is empowered within us by the Spirit of Grace. The Throne\nof Grace is that same Throne John describes (and we\u2019ve talked about this\nbefore) in Revelation 1.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Remember\nthis statement?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Revelation 1:4<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span><\/b> <\/span>John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be<\/i> unto\nyou, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and\nfrom the seven Spirits which are before his throne;<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

The\nword translated \u201cbefore\u201d in the KJV in this verse comes from the Greek enopion<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>,<\/span><\/b> which means:<\/span> <\/span>in the place of and occupy<\/span><\/u><\/b>.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Thus,\nthe Throne of Grace is the same Throne which all Seven Spirits of God are in\nthe place of, and occupy. This is why we can come boldly before this Throne and\nreceive the grace we need for any and every situation.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Let's\nmove on, now, to the sixth of the Seven Spirits of God.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

In\na previous Coffee Break, we discussed the fact that Truth was fundamental to\nJesus' onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> <\/b>--\nthat Truth was the dynamic which went forth when the first words of creation\nwere uttered,<\/span> <\/span>"Let\nthere be light."<\/span> <\/span>We talked about the fact that it was\nTruth which clothed Adam and Eve so long as they were in the place of intimate\nrelationship with the Lord God -- that they were stripped naked of Truth when\nthey ate of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Pivotal to Jesus'\nessence, His character and makeup, is The Spirit of Truth. Without repeating\nall that I've written on Truth in previous Coffee Breaks, let me share the\nfollowing perspectives.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Each\ntime we see the word, "truth," used in the New Testament as it\nrelates to either the Father, the Son, or the Holy Spirit, the Greek\nword, aletheia<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>,<\/span><\/b> or its counterpart, alethos<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>,<\/span><\/b> is used. Aletheia<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> <\/b>represents:<\/span> <\/span>verity, the true state of\nthings, reality, absolute certainty; truth as a personal excellence; that\ncandor of mind which is free from affectation, pretense, simulation, falsehood\nor deceit; that which does not hide or conceal the actual reality.<\/span><\/u><\/b> <\/span>Beyond\nthese definitions, Thayer states that, "aletheia<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/u><\/span> <\/span>is opposed to\nsuperstitions, inventions of the mind, opinions and precepts."<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

As\nwe have stated, therefore, on previous occasions, Truth is not a collection of\nfacts, nor the reciting of history, nor a compilation of events, nor the\nquoting of Scriptures. Each of these things -- facts, history, a recitation of\nevents, or the quoting of Scriptures -- can be used and constructed in such a\nmanner as to convey a lie.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

In\nan earlier Coffee Break, we noted how Satan quoted Scriptures to deceive, and\nto create a picture for Jesus which was absolutely false. Yet he quoted the\nScriptures accurately. The problem was not in the Scriptures but in that spirit\nthat attempted to communicate them.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Some\nyears ago, a sister called me who had been suffering debilitating pain from a\ndegenerative bone condition. She was shouting with joy over the realization\nthat while there were certain medical facts pertaining to her physical\ncondition, they were only facts -- they were not the Truth. After grasping the\nTruth that Jesus had taken her diseases with Him on the cross, that by those stripes\nwhich He suffered, she had been healed nearly two thousand years ago, she was\nable to gain a large measure of freedom from the pain and began to move about\nwith a liberty she had not seen in months.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

In\nthe days and weeks which followed, she realized that each time she focused on\nthe Truth and agreed with the Truth instead of the medical facts, she\nexperienced marked change: the pain would virtually vanish, she would be able\nto get up and move about with amazing mobility, and she was able to rest at night\nwithout interruption -- something which had been impossible for a long time.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Do\nyou see the picture? While the medical facts in the situation certainly\nexisted, they were facts isolated from the Truth -- facts which by themselves\ncommunicated a condition which was the polar opposite of what Jesus was saying<\/u>,\nand did. The same can be said of those who quote Scriptures to validate some\nteaching or doctrinal position.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Dwain\nMcKenzie, a friend for more than fifty-five years, close brother (he and I used\nto be called "the Bobbsey<\/span> twins") and\nco-laborer in the gospel with whom I have ministered off and on in the past,\nonce made a statement which has stayed with me, "Things are not what they seem to be: they're what God says they\nare."<\/span><\/b> No statement could more accurately portray the\ndifference between "facts" and the Truth.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

The\nTruth is not <\/b>what has been said<\/u>. The Truth\nis not<\/b> some Bible verse or group of Scriptures. The Truth is\nwhat Jesus is saying!<\/b> Truth is always current. Truth is always\nalive. Truth communicates Life! The Spirit of Truth will often take Scriptures\nto testify as a "second witness" to that which He is saying<\/u>,\nbut the attempted use or application of those Scriptures apart from what He is\nsaying -- now -- can convey a false picture which may be diametrically opposed\nto what the Spirit is saying.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

What's\nthe difference? Words and letters on a piece of paper -- even if they are words\nand letters which communicate a picture of what Jesus may have said and done in\nthe past -- are no substitute for a living relationship. Jesus Christ, our\nBridegroom, is not just some historical figure who lived in the past. He is\nalive, now! Why in the world would anyone want to relegate our Bridegroom, our\ncounterpart and other self, who is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, to that\nwhich was written about Him?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

As\nsoon as you do, you turn what is supposed to be a twenty-four-hour-per-day\nliving, breathing, on-going-communicating relationship into a religion. The\nBible is not "The Word!" Jesus Christ is The Word!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Paul\nput it this way,<\/span> <\/span>"All\nScripture is God-breathed and advantageous and profitable for teaching, for\nconviction, for correction, for [the] discipline which [comes] in\nrighteousness, that the man of God may be complete and fully fitted for that\nexcellence with which he is occupied."<\/span> <\/span>(II Timothy 3:16-17\n-- my translation)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Do\nyou get it? Do you understand the significance of this statement? The phrase,<\/span> <\/span>"for [the] discipline which [comes] in righteousness,"<\/span> <\/span>makes\nclear the fact that the Scripture is "advantageous and profitable"\nfor those who are dikaiosune<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>:<\/span><\/b><\/span> <\/span>walking\n(currently living) in an ongoing state or condition of rightly-related personal\nrelationship<\/span><\/u><\/b> <\/span>with\nthe Lord.<\/span> <\/span>One does not walk with words on a piece\nof paper; they walk with someone who is alive and personally close! The\nScripture, therefore, has been given for the purpose of witnessing to\nand with<\/u> that which Jesus Christ is saying to us personally.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

OK.\nGotta<\/span> stop there for today. There's a whole lot more\nto share on the Spirit of Truth, and that's where we'll continue next week.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
