ANOTHER COFFEE BREAK: A NEW ONOMA, Part 12<\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div>

April\n12, 2013<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This past Sunday we were really blessed to have Don Pirozok<\/span> and his wife, Cheryl, as our guests. Don is known\nnationally for his prophetic ministry and the accuracy of his prophecies.\nSunday was no exception. I really appreciated the manner in which the personal\nand family prophetic words were given. We took a few people (perhaps three or\nfour) at a time, shared with them and then took a break for a time of worship.\nMore people would be ministered to, and that would be followed with more\nworship. This process was repeated again and again. Our time of gathering for\nfellowship, praise and worship, and ministry -- both corporate and personal --\nalong with fellowship around the table, lasted just over eight hours.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

While\nwe don't often have that much time together when we gather, five to six hours\nis pretty common. Our times of gathering are designed to be a true expression\nof Ekklesia<\/span> -- NOT church. While I'm not condemning\nfolks who still utilize the traditional mode of church gathering -- and\ncertainly we've seen the Lord work very mightily within the church from time to\ntime -- the Greek word "Ekklesia<\/span>," which\nhas been almost uniformly translated "church" for the past four\nhundred years or so -- represents a kind of gathering that is anything but the\nconventional structured mode we see in the contemporary churches.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Ekklesia<\/span><\/span> is really nothing\nmore than the assembling together of the Betrothed by the Bridegroom. (And when\nI say that they have been assembled together by the Bridegroom, it is just\nthat! This is not a club you can join. If Holy Spirit doesn't draw you and bond\nyou to the group of people, you're just playing "church.") Ekklesia<\/span> is a company of people -- not more than 12\nfamilies -- who've been drawn together among whom Holy Spirit is developing a\nclose-knit bonding, a place of absolute trust, a level of confidence that each\nperson in the Ekklesia<\/span> has your back -- and at the\nsame time, is willing to administer reproof and correction in love when needed.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I\ncould literally spend this entire Coffee Break talking about Ekklesia<\/span>, and the things Holy Spirit has taught us about Ekklesia<\/span> as a lifestyle and a processing period in our\nlives to prepare us for the Bridegroom. But that's not where we will go today.\nLet me continue where we left off last week.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Throughout my years of walking with the\nLord, enormous change has taken place in me. Yes, responses have been required\nof me. Yes, obedience to the word and will of the Lord has been mandatory. But\nthe change, and the glory which is manifested, have come because of the\nindwelling work of the Paraklete<\/span>, and the sovereignty\nof the Bridegroom in His choices for me.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This is what the onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> of\nthe Lord Jesus Christ is all about! His onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> <\/b>-- which\nincorporates the Spirit of Judgment and Burning, the Spirit of Wisdom and\nUnderstanding, the Spirit of Counsel and Might, the Spirit of Knowledge and the\nFear of the Lord, The Spirit of Grace and Supplications, the Spirit of Truth,\nand the Spirit of Glory (all summed up in agape<\/span><\/i><\/b>)\n-- has been the onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> of\na Bridegroom-to-be seeking after a Bride, a Bridegroom who has sent a Paraklete<\/span> to prepare, mold, train, equip and dress that\nBride for the final day of joining: the Marriage of the Lamb!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

All those things which we have treated\nas doctrines: Salvation, Water Baptism, Baptism in the Holy Spirit,\nDeliverance, Sanctification, Holiness, etc., etc., have only been stepping\nstones in the process to have a Bride. Those things which we have known as\n"the gifts of the Spirit" are simply a dowry, given as a promise of\nthat which would become the natural, everyday operation and function of our\nlives and existence. The gifts of the Spirit have simply been the\n"interest," given to woo us onward toward the changes and processing\nnecessary which would result in those gifts being a 24-hour-per-day reality --\na part of the life and breath of our onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>.<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The intention of the Lord is that we\nbecome so like Him that these things which we have known as \u201cgifts\u201d are no\nlonger gifts, but the natural operation of our beings \u2013 an integrated part of\nour very existence. I\u2019ve said it before, and I\u2019ll say it again. His purpose is\nto make us naturally supernatural<\/i><\/b>, and supernaturally\nnatural<\/i><\/b>. Expressing it another way, His intention is to see that which\nwe have regarded as \u201cmiraculous\u201d become the norm of our daily breathing and\nliving.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Take a quick look at this process from\nthe beginning through the perspective of what we have often heard, and what has\nbeen taught to us as foundational doctrines:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

1.<\/span><\/b> <\/span>Salvation<\/span><\/b>:<\/span> <\/span>the\nlegal act of Jesus' death on the cross in order to free a people from bondage\nto Satan, and bondage to the Law of Sin and Death: a legal act necessary to\nmake possible a way for people to respond freely to His wooing and romancing.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

2.<\/span><\/b> <\/span>Water Baptism<\/span><\/b>:<\/span> <\/span>the\nlegal act necessary as the first response of those who accept Jesus' offer of\nfreedom: a legal act which says to Satan, "the old me, born into this\nworld as a slave to you, subject to the Law of Sin and Death, has died and been\nburied. The new me has been resurrected by the power of Jesus Christ, made\nalive and freed to respond without your curses and penalties hanging over\nme."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

3.<\/span><\/b> <\/span>Baptism in the Holy Spirit<\/span><\/b>:<\/span> <\/span>the\nfirst joint-legal act of the Bride-to-be and the Paraklete<\/span>,\nin which we release our tongue to Him and He evidences that release by using it\nto speak in previously unknown or unlearned languages as a sign of the release\nof our entire being, which then gives Holy Spirit the right to begin the\nprocess of house-cleaning, change, and restoration of the individual into the\nimage and onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> <\/b>of\nthe Bridegroom, Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

4.<\/span><\/b> <\/span>Deliverance<\/span><\/b>:<\/span> <\/span>the\nlegal right, and necessary act of the individual now undergoing the\nhousecleaning process of the Paraklete<\/span> to expel all\nthose spirits He identifies, which have worked to shape and mold us into\nthe onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> <\/i>of\nSatan.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

5.<\/span><\/b> <\/span>Justification<\/span><\/b>:<\/span> <\/span>a\nlegal act, consummated by Jesus Christ, which establishes our right to come\nbefore the Father as freely as both the Son and the Paraklete<\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

6.<\/span><\/b> <\/span>Sanctification<\/span><\/b>:<\/span> <\/span>the\nprocessing of the Paraklete<\/span> to enact the necessary\nchanges of our onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> so\nas to conform us to those requirements of the Bridegroom prior to the day of\nthe Marriage of the Lamb.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

7.<\/span><\/b> <\/span>Holiness<\/span><\/b>:<\/span> <\/span>the\nchange which is wrought to our makeup, our character, the very essence of our\nbeing so that we become like our Bridegroom.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Now, I realize that the way I have\ndefined some of these "doctrines" may not be the way some of you are\nfamiliar with them, but bear with me for a moment. Intriguingly enough, only\nthe first three "doctrines" in this list are so mentioned in Scripture.\nThe last four are not. They are concepts which have been taught as doctrines,\noften to the exclusion of those which Paul taught as "stepping\nstones." In an Open Letter to the Ekklesia<\/span><\/i><\/b> entitled, The\nStrait Gate<\/b>, which was sent out a number of years ago, we talked about\nthose doctrines which are laid as foundations in our lives; and the necessity\nof leaving them, once established, so as to "go on to the\ncompletion."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I won't try to cover all that ground\nagain, but in brief (see Hebrews 6:1-3) Paul talks about<\/span> <\/span>"not laying again the foundation of<\/span> <\/span>(1)<\/span><\/b> <\/span>repentance from dead works, and<\/span> <\/span>(2)<\/span><\/b> <\/span>faith in God, of<\/span> <\/span>(3)<\/span><\/b> <\/span>the teaching of baptisms, and<\/span> <\/span>(4)<\/span><\/b> <\/span><\/b>of the laying on of\nhands, of<\/span> <\/span>(5)<\/span><\/b> <\/span>the resurrection of the dead, and<\/span> <\/span>(6)<\/span><\/b> <\/span>of eternal judgment."<\/span> <\/span>(Without getting into\nany argument on the subject, I will repeat that we assume for the sake of this\ndiscussion Paul to be the author of Hebrews.) The point he makes is that it is\nnecessary to "go on." The aforementioned teachings are simply the\nfoundation place of our relationship -- not the end!<\/b> To make\nthe assumption that we "have arrived," once these are locked down in\nour understanding is to fall short of the Glory of God.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u201cChange\u201d is the operative word.\nConsider again the significance of these foundations of which Paul writes.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

1.<\/span><\/b> <\/span><\/b>\u201cRepentance from dead\nworks.\u201d<\/span><\/b> <\/span>We have often expressed this as\n\u201cSalvation,\u201d but let\u2019s look a little farther. The \u201cdead works,\u201d of which Paul\nspeaks, takes on a different perspective in the light of his letter to the\nHebrews. Dead works are the keeping of the law, the performance of duties and\nrituals \u201cbecause they are expected of you,\u201d the observance of commandments\nbecause \u201cthey are ordered,\u201d etc., etc., etc. Make sense?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

(In case we forget, let\u2019s remember that\nthe objective of all of this is the most intimate of relationships with Jesus\nChrist.)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

O.K! Where\u2019s the relationship if we\nkeep the law? Where is the relationship if we observe His commandments just\nbecause they were ordered of us? Where there is<\/b> a love\nrelationship \u2013 an intimate love-relationship \u2013 these things happen as a natural\nbyproduct of that bond between us and the Lord. There is no place for ritual in\nrelationship. There is no place for \u201cduty\u201d in relationship. There is no place\nfor a careful observance of the law. These things are all \u201cdead works.\u201d Where\nthere is a bond of love and intimacy between us and the Lord Jesus Christ, His\nheart\u2019s desire becomes as normal to us as breathing. It is integral to\nour onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>.<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let me use the relationship between\nDella and me as an example. Suppose when we first got married that I handed her\na list of requirements: ten \u201cdo\u2019s\u201d and \u201cdon\u2019ts\u201d which she was required to\ncarefully observe on a daily basis, with the threat of punitive action on my\npart if she failed to keep them. Suppose she had been given a list of duties\nand requirements \u2013 whether written or unwritten \u2013 by which her commitment to me\nwould be required. Sounds insane, doesn\u2019t it? What kind of relationship would\nwe have? Zero! O.K., well, maybe a master-slave relationship but not a marriage\nof counterparts, co-equals, or one in which true love was genuinely manifested.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Now let me take it a step farther.\nSuppose Della took all of my letters and writings over the years, along with\nvarious accounts of my accomplishments which have been reported in the news\nmedia, Who\u2019s Who volumes and other publications, and pored over them daily so\nthat she would get to \u201cknow me better?\u201d Are those letters and writings, and\nnews reports going to give her an in-depth knowledge of me, my makeup and\ncharacter, my personality, or my love for her? Of course not! It\u2019s ridiculous!\nEspecially when she has me in person, and we can communicate personally,\nsharing ourselves with one another on the most intimate basis.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

So it is with the Lord Jesus Christ. To\ntrade that which has been written, said, and done for a personal intimate\nsharing relationship on a daily basis with Him is to live in \u201cdead works,\u201d\nritualism and legalism. \u201cRepentance from dead works,\u201d therefore, begins with\nGodly sorrow over our having lived legalistically and ritualistically,\nrepenting or turning from such dead living, and embracing Jesus Christ as\nlover, as Bridegroom-to-be, and even more \u2013 as the totality of our existence\nwithout whom we neither live, nor breathe, nor have our being.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

2.<\/span><\/b> <\/span>\u201cFaith in God\u201d<\/span><\/b> <\/span>likewise\nhas a deeper significance than that which we have commonly accepted. Jesus made\nit clear that<\/span> <\/span>\u201cWithout faith it is impossible to please God.\u201d<\/span> <\/span>Then He identified\nthe means by which that faith comes by saying,<\/span> <\/span>\u201cFaith comes by hearing,\nand hearing by the word of God.\u201d<\/span> <\/span>Faith, therefore, is not<\/u> faith\nif we have not heard<\/u> the Lord.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>Does\nthat make sense? O.K. Let\u2019s try it this way.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>The\nLord often speaks through many different methodologies. For example, we hear\nHis Spirit speaking within our spirit. Sometimes we are reading and a scripture\nwill stand out. There is a quickening in our spirit by the Holy Spirit that\nthis is a truth He is applying to us, or to a specific situation in our lives.\nThen there are the occasions when He speaks to us directly in dreams or\nvisions. On rarer<\/span> occasions, we are permitted to hear\nthe audible voice of the Lord in our ears. In each instance \u2013 no matter what\nmethod He utilizes \u2013 He will confirm that \u201cword\u201d through multiple avenues so\nthat we can know of absolute surety that we have heard<\/u> Him.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>Once\nwe have heard Him, faith is generated. That faith becomes the very substance of\nthat which He has spoken by virtue of the creative power of His onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>. As\nwe speak out of that substantive faith, we speak our agreement with that which\nHe has spoken. When we agree with Him \u2013 not intellectually, but in our spirit \u2013\nwithin the very core of our beings, life explodes. Creative forces are\nunleashed. Our faith in Him, therefore, becomes a practical reality with signs\nfollowing.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>\u201cFaith\nin God,\u201d therefore, is not some mystical, ethereal hope within our hearts. It\nis a life-giving force with the very same creative dynamics which were\nunleashed when Jesus Christ spoke the worlds into existence, and set in motion\nthe inevitability of His Bride.<\/span>
