ANOTHER COFFEE BREAK: THE SPIRIT OF JEZEBEL, Part 6<\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Felicitations! Greetings and Solutions! Good Morning!\nHowdy! <\/span><\/b>In case I missed anyone, Hi, there!! Glad you could join\nme on this most auspicious occasion. So, what\u2019s the occasion? It\u2019s the best day\nof your life. See, yesterday\u2019s gone, and tomorrow isn\u2019t here yet. That means\nyou\u2019ve only got today. And God doesn't make rotten days! I could take this to\nextremes, but you get the picture. Hehehehehe<\/span>\u2026\u2026<\/b><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

As\nalready noted the spirit of Jezebel is an unrepentant spirit, and folks who are\ncontaminated with and by this spirit are highly resistant to true repentance.\nIn order to help you understand why, let me lay<\/span> a\nlittle historical background. First, however, let's take a look at an\ninteresting statement that John makes in Revelation 17:10.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

"And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one\nis, and<\/i> the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must\ncontinue a short space."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

What\nseven kings are those referred to? Deuteronomy 7:1 describes them as the\nHittites, the Girgashites<\/span>, the Amorites, the\nCanaanites, the Perizzites<\/span>, the Hivites<\/span>\nand the Jebusites<\/span>. Now I know you think I just fell\noff the turnip truck, but bear with me.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

These\nseven nations were each ruled by a dominant spirit. In the Greek text of\nEphesians 6 where Paul writes, "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood\nbut against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness\nof this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places," we see four\nclasses of spiritual rulership<\/span>. They appear in this\norder: (1)arche<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>,\n(2) exousia<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>,\n(3) kosmokrator<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>,\nand (4) pneumatikos<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> epouranios<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b>.\nEach has its respective place of power and dominion, but the one I want to\nfocus on today is "kosmokrator<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>:"\nworld ruler of darkness. The Greek word is a conjunction of "kosmos<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>"\n(the world at large, or areas of the world) and "krateo<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>" (to seize power or\nstrength and to retain it).<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

You\nmay remember Daniel's experience when he fasted for 21 days. The angel of the\nLord came to see him and told him that he had to do battle with the prince of\nPersia for those 21 days and that the archangel Michael came to help him defeat\nthe prince of Persia; that when he departed Daniel's presence he was on his way\nto do battle with the prince of Greece.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This\nis the picture that Paul is drawing out of Ephesians 6, and this is the picture\nwe have of the seven nations Israel was commanded to drive out. Ever wonder why\nIsrael was commanded the following?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

"When the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou\nshalt<\/span> smite them, and<\/i> utterly\ndestroy them; thou shalt<\/span> make no covenant with them,\nnor show mercy unto them<\/u>: Neither shalt<\/span> thou make\nmarriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt<\/span> not give\nunto his son, nor his daughter shalt<\/span> thou take unto\nthy son. For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they\nmay serve other gods<\/u>: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled\nagainst you<\/u>, and destroy thee suddenly<\/u>. But thus shall ye deal\nwith them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut\ndown their groves, and burn their graven images with fire. For thou art<\/i> an\nholy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a\nspecial people unto himself, above all people that are<\/i> upon\nthe face of the earth."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

God's\ncommand to Israel was there because you cannot co-mingle and co-habitate<\/span> with other gods. Israel was serving God! He was\nabsolute King and ruler. It is impossible to serve two kings at the same time.\nThe King of the Hittites was the Fear of Death. The King of the Canaanites was\nthe Fear of Man. The King of the Amorites was the Fear of Evil. None of that is\ncompatible with our serving the Lord!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It\nis the Amorites that we want to pay attention to, in this case. History tells\nus that they almost always chose the high places, the hills, the mountains --\nany place that would give them an elevated view of the surrounding countryside.\nThe Hebrew word for Amorite,<\/span> \u0081e\u00f5mo\u00f2r?\u00f2y<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>,<\/span> <\/span>couldn't\nmore clearly describe their nature. Em<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>-or-ee<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/i>is the word for: publicity,\nprominence,<\/u> (and is frequently used for mountaineers). The Hebrew<\/span> \u0081e\u00f5mo\u00f2r?\u00f2y<\/span><\/span> <\/i><\/b><\/span>stems from a root\nword for folks who talk a lot; those who love to make their voice heard as the\nmost prominent voice. As you see this picture of the Amorites unfold, you'll\nbetter understand the significance of that characteristic.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\ncharacteristic of the Amorites that made them want to be THE leaders, THE most\nprominent, THE rulers and subduers<\/span> of everyone, is\neasily demonstrated in Scripture by the fact that there are 23 verses in the OT\nreferring to Amorite kings, with an additional two that mention them in\nconjunction with Canaanite kings. As far as the kings of the other nations are\nconcerned, Canaanite kings are named three times, Hittite kings are named three\ntimes, and -- with the exception of the Girgashites<\/span>\nfor whom no king is named -- the remaining nations  only have their kings\nnamed one time. The Amorites' character and nature presents a stark contrast to\nthe other nations.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Years\nafter Shem's (the son of Noah) death, the Jebusites<\/span>\nmoved in to occupy the city and citadel he had established in the midst of\nCanaan. Sometime thereafter, an Amorite king subdued the Jebusites<\/span>\nand took control of the city and the region. That Amorite king took for himself\nthe appellation and name, Adoniy-Tsedeq<\/span> (we have it\nanglicized as Adonizedek<\/span>), attempting to identify\nhimself with Shem's power, authority and esteem throughout the land.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Adoniy-Tsedeq<\/span><\/span> translates to\n"Lord of Righteousness." He thus palmed himself off on the\ninhabitants as being a picture of righteousness, and rightful heir to Shem's\nthrone. This king was anything but righteous, and God's judgment fell upon him\nwhen he rose up in collaboration with four other Amorite kings against Joshua,\nbeing overthrown and killed at Makkedah<\/span> with his four\ncohorts. Adoniy-Tsedeq's<\/span> efforts are a clear picture\nof that spirit that dominated the Amorites.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\nknow that spirit today as the Fear of Evil. If there can be said to be any\nmaster spirit of fear, it is the Fear of Evil. It is a highly religious spirit,\nand it has all the pretense of right and righteousness. Yet, this spirit lives\nin dread fear of the power and authority of God.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Most\nfolks don't think of her in this way, but Jezebel was an Amorite. Consider her\nbackground. Jezebel's father was an Amorite king by the name of Ethbaal<\/span> (his name translates to: "living with [and\nenjoying the pleasures of] Baal") who also served Baal in the role of high\npriest. I Kings 16:31 describes Ethbaal<\/span> as "king\nof the Zidonians<\/span>." We know Zidon<\/span>\nas the Canaanite city, Sidon. Thus, again, we have a picture of the Amorites\nsubduing their brother-nations and ruling over their cities.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Jezebel\nwas a picture of the Amorites and their dominant spirit all by herself. She was\na usurper of power and authority. Once she had access to the throne of Israel\nthrough Ahab, she drove Baal-worship to new heights (lows?). If the Canaanites\nwere licentious and aberrant in their sexual behavior, Jezebel took their use\nof prostitutes in Baal-worship to extremes the Canaanites couldn't even\nimagine.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Her\nmarriage to Ahab, while politically arranged as part of a peace pact between\nAhab and Ethbaal<\/span> (more compromise between Israel and\nan accursed nation?), served both her agenda and Ahab's. She created a\n"school of prophets" that were sent forth into the various tribes of\nIsrael to prophesy "in the name of the Lord" (who in their reality\nwas Baal). It was these same prophets who could speak and prophesy to their\nhearts' content before the sacrifice that Elijah prepared, who failed to\ncommand fire from heaven.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

When\nElijah spoke and fire rained down and consumed the sacrifice after three\nbarrels of water had been poured on it, proving that the god of the prophets of\nBaal was dead and lifeless, Elijah and the company of people present with him\nput all 450 prophets of Baal, plus another 400 prophets of the groves\n"which [ate] at Jezebel's table" to death by the sword. (See I Kings\n18)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\npicture of Jezebel as a part of the spirit of the Amorites is so significant,\nand that spirit\u2019s influence so great in the body of Christ today that it gives\nus clear understanding of John's prophecy when he writes, <\/span>"...five [kings] are fallen, and one is, and<\/i> the\nother is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short\nspace."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nphrase, "and one is," is a reference to the spirit of the Amorites as\nmanifested in the spirit of Jezebel. The five kings (or ruling spirits) who had\nfallen (and were not in a position to exercise kingly authority) were the\nHittites, the Hivites<\/span>, the Jebusites<\/span>,\nthe Girgashites<\/span> and the Canaanites. The spirit of\nJezebel and the Amorites was in full bloom already in the body of Christ when\nJohn wrote the Revelation, manifesting itself in the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes<\/span> in the form of the hierarchical structure that\nwas usurping the authority of the Lord in the Ekklesias<\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nphrase, <\/span>"the other is not yet come.."<\/span> is a reference\nto the king and ruling spirit of the Perizzites<\/span> whose\ninfluence was initially felt through the "born again" Pharisees as\nthey tried to implement a form of democratic structure (the other half of the\ndoctrine of the Nicolaitanes<\/span>) within the Ekklesias<\/span>. That spirit began to really manifest itself\nthrough the introduction of "congregational" church structure in the\n1700's and 1800's.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

One\nthing that is eminently clear is that these last two kings (the Amorites and\nthe Perizzites<\/span>), while appearing to be in opposition\nwith each other, actually cooperate with their Master as they drive the\ndoctrines of humanism forward within the body of Christ.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This\nlast bit is somewhat of an aside but I wanted to help you understand the\ncharacter and background of the spirit of Jezebel, and why this spirit is so\narrogant and unrepentant. I remind you that the character of the Amorites was\nto always have the high places, to have the preeminence among their brother\nnations, to be in control of everyone and everything. Historical references to\nthem in Egyptian archaeological findings call them "the long-necked\nones" -- a reference to the way they held their heads up in arrogance and\npride. The Amorites all thought they were pretty "hot stuff!"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Jezebel\nidolized herself. She thought she was the greatest thing on the planet. She\nloved what she saw in the mirror and worshiped herself to her own downfall. So\nit is with folks who become ensnared by this spirit. They become the center of\ntheir own attraction and self-worship. They become so arrogant in their own\nappearance or abilities that they believe everyone else should likewise be\ndrawn to them. Thus, manipulation and control \u2013 witchcraft and sorcery, and\nwith it, divination \u2013 become their modus operandi.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It\nis that very arrogance and self-worship which is at the heart of the spirit of\nJezebel's inability to come to a place of repentance. Folks who are contaminated\nby this spirit have an extremely difficult time accepting their need to repent\nof their attitudes, their activities and their usurpation of power and\/or\nauthority. They become control-freaks!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nAmorites principality, or ruling demonic spirit, was the Fear of Evil. They\n(and, of course, Jezebel) were ruled by fear, and they -- in turn -- used fear\nas a means to control and manipulate people. The Fear of Evil is a highly\nreligious spirit whose primary purpose is to get us to be afraid of God rather\nthan having an awe and respect of Him. The Fear of Evil -- like every other\nspirit of fear -- is a driving spirit who seeks control of all those within its\ninfluence.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nAmorites used force <\/b>to achieve their ends. (Hence hierarchical\nchurch government, and hence, Jezebel's modus operandi.) Force is always the\nfirst alternative when people lack real authority. Real authority, of course,\nis only found with the Lord Jesus Christ; and that authority becomes\noperational in us when we are in fellowship and union with Him!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It\nwas my intention to share a personal story with you today to demonstrate the\ndifficulty that people have in coming to a place of repentance when they are\nconfronted with the fact that they are being used and manipulated by the spirit\nof Jezebel. My story is long enough that it would make this Coffee Break much\ntoo long, so I will save it for next week. Instead let's wrap up this week's\ndiscussion with a current prophetic word that came from a brother in the Lord\nwho has since gone home to be with the Lord.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Many\nyears ago I was fortunate enough to meet and share with Wade Taylor on a number\nof occasions. He was a brother with a deep sense of the heart of the Lord, and\nthe cry that went forth from him prophetically came directly from that knowing\nwithin.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This\nword from Wade was published on September 10th on the Elijah List.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

"<\/span><\/i>Deep calleth<\/span> unto\ndeep at the noise of Thy waterspouts: all Thy waves and Thy billows are gone\nover me. Psalm 42:7<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

"Deep\ncalls." Our Lord is a seeking God who desires a satisfaction that can be\nfound only in us \u2013 our worship and our times of fellowship with Him. We were\ncreated for this purpose, which became marred by the transgression of Adam.<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

"At the noise of\nYour waterspouts." Our initial response may seem to us as being\n"noise," but as we continue to worship and spend time in fellowship\nwith the Lord, it will become as a "song."<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The Lord is my\nstrength and song, and He is become my salvation: He is my God, and I will\nprepare Him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt Him. Exodus 15:2<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

If we will be patient\nand not become discouraged, we will be immersed in His presence \u2013 "all\nYour waves are gone over me." Now, we are no longer in control. Others\nwill notice the change in us and ask: Who is this that cometh up from the\nwilderness, leaning upon her beloved?... Song of Solomon 8:5<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

All this begins with\nour response to the cry that comes from within the heart of the Lord,\n"Deep calls." In order to rightly respond, we must become spiritually\nhungry.<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n
