ANOTHER COFFEE BREAK: THE SPIRIT OF JEZEBEL, Part 4<\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Good\nMorning!! When I opened up our last Coffee Break, I neglected to follow up on\nthe comment about some Amish brethren who were part of the praise and worship\ngathering a couple weeks ago in an area just a short distance from Lewiston,\nIdaho, and it is worth following up.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We were\ntalking about the vivid display in the heavens with the extremely loud claps of\nthunder that shook the whole place, followed by close lightning strikes,\nfollowed by hail which fell as glass. The Amish leader who was part of this\ngathering was a brother I know as Levi. As they gathered together with\nbelievers who represented a cross-section of the Body of Christ, Levi stood up\nand said the following:<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

"I\nwant you all to know that we are NOT Amish. Neither are we Ex-Amish. We are\nyour brethren in the Body of Christ!"<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

THAT,<\/span><\/i> folks is what\nis happening in this hour. Barriers are coming down! As people are being drawn\ninto the immediate presence of the Lord, they are shedding their denominational\nrags as well as their sectarian and doctrinal positions and putting on the\nglory of the Lord.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The spirit of Jezebel\nis notable in presenting itself as a prophet(ess<\/span>) in\norder to teach men and women and entice them into immorality -- whether\nspiritual or physical or through mental fantasies (such as using pornography)\n-- often justifying that immorality with the use of certain scripture verses\ntaken out of context. Adultery and fornication are often justified through\npornographic imagery by the spirit of Jezebel under the guise that "you\ndidn't engage in any physical sexual contact with anyone."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let's see. How was it\nthat Jesus put it? (See Matthew 5:27-28) "Ye\nhave heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt<\/span>\nnot commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh<\/span>\non a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his\nheart."<\/span><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Get it? Adultery or\nfornication is not simply engaging in a physical act. It is the living out of\nthe sexual act with someone to whom you are not married in the midst of mental\nand emotional fantasies. We'll talk about the spiritual side of adultery and\nfornication in the days to come and the seduction associated with it that John\nwas driving at in the prophecy to the Ekklesia<\/span> in\nThyatira.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This is a pretty\nheavy subject for a lot of people, and sometimes the real life aspects of how\nthe spirit of Jezebel operates can get lost in the details. That said, let's\nget back to the event I was sharing with you in the previous Coffee Break that\ntook place some years back with my lifetime friend and brother in the Lord,\nDwain McKenzie.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Got my good strong\ncup of French Roasted Columbian blended with some Jamaican Blue Mountain\npoured, and I\u2019m on my second cup. Better grab yours before it's too late. A\nquick note as well: we're going to run long again in today's Coffee Break.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Last week, I ran out\nof time (and space) to complete a story on seeing firsthand the spirit of\nJezebel in operation. It never occurred to me at the time that this was what I\nwas seeing, and not for several years thereafter did I understand the demonic\nnature of what transpired. Not until the Holy Spirit led me into the ministry\nof deliverance did I begin to comprehend what had unfolded before me; and then\nI watched as the Lord brought both judgment and vindication.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

As I wrapped up part\none of this discussion last week, I said that as soon as I was gone from\nBarrow, a fake trial was held before the church board. Dwain was found guilty\nin absentia. He never had an opportunity to present evidence that would have\ncleared him. Neither was I ever given an opportunity \u2013 as one who had\npersonally worked with him and been involved in the day-to-day ministry \u2013 to\npresent any evidence or testimony contrary to that of the conspirators.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Dwain was contacted\nwhile in California<\/span> <\/span>and advised to get back to Barrow to\npack up his personal belongings, and told that he was through as a pastor in<\/span> <\/span>Alaska.\nYou can imagine his shock. He flew to<\/span> <\/span>Fairbanks<\/span> <\/span>to\nmeet with the District Superintendent (DS) to plead his case and was brushed\noff without so much as an ounce of grace.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Anyone who knows me\nknows that I\u2019m about the last person on the face of this earth to believe in\nconspiracies and I don\u2019t abide conspiracy theories very well. Nevertheless, as\nthis situation unfolded, it became clear that certain preachers in<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Alaska wanted titles and political\npower within the Alaska Missions. Because of my father\u2019s long history of\nbuilding and establishing churches and his pioneering ministry, they figured he\nwas in line to become the top leader within the denomination and its operations\nin Alaska<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Dad was about as\napolitical as any person you\u2019ve ever met. He wasn\u2019t the least bit interested in\ntitles or positions. He was there because God called and anointed him to lay\nfoundations, and build and establish the<\/span> <\/span>Kingdom<\/span> <\/span>of<\/span> <\/span>God<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

throughout\nthe arctic. He didn\u2019t have time for church politics and adamantly criticized\nthose within the denomination for getting wrapped up in it. Nevertheless, he\nwas given a title (as General Presbyter \u2013 that\u2019s an overseer and representative\nof a group of churches) and a certain amount of authority within the statewide\noperations of the denomination. What Dad knew was that his authority didn\u2019t\ncome from the denomination; it came from the Lord who called him and sent him.\nHe used his position \u2013 not as a political power base, but as a means to extend\nhis reach in ministry.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

One of the things\nI\u2019ve found to be true in a lifetime of ministry is that those who seek\npolitical power and position generally tend to be afraid of it; and their\nseeking after that power and position comes from a place of wanting the esteem\nof men. Likewise, those who seek after power and political titles tend to\nbelieve that everyone else also wants that power. It becomes a place of\ncompetition, manipulation and control. Hence, it becomes a platform in their\nlives for witchcraft to take hold and function in and through them.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Thus, those who\nconspired to remove Dwain from the pastorate in Barrow did so because they felt\nhe was a \u201cvote\u201d for my father to have the general superintendence of the\ndenomination in Alaska. Hervel<\/span> was a pawn \u2013 a\nwilling one, to be sure, but a pawn nevertheless. His greed and willingness to\nsubvert the Gospel for the sake of what he viewed as a powerful political\nposition (he became the pawn of a spirit of witchcraft) made him an easy target\nfor those who also had subverted the Gospel.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Dwain didn\u2019t waste\nmuch time nursing any wounds over the conspiracy and his removal from Barrow.\nHe began ministering in a church in southern<\/span> <\/span>California<\/span> <\/span>as\nnew doors opened up to him. The conspiracy hadn\u2019t ended, of course, but the\nLord was setting the stage for judgment for the would-be conspirators.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

By now, of course, I\nwas in<\/span> <\/span>Nome, working at the bank and receiving\nmy training to take the management of the Kotzebue branch; and at the same time\nhelping our family friend and brother in the Lord, Paul Bills, in his pastorate\nof the church in<\/span> <\/span>Nome<\/span> <\/span>where I\u2019d grown up in\nmy early childhood. A general unrest began to develop in my spirit in the midst\nof my bank management training, and I realized this was not the direction of\nthe Lord in my life. The job wasn\u2019t paying a whole lot of money [unless\nyou are<\/b> in senior management in banking, you don\u2019t make any\nmoney at all], and I was struggling to pay my bills.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Our young daughter,\nDebbie, was fighting with one sickness after another, and money was spending\nlike water. A friend I\u2019d known from my youth was working for the state of<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Alaska as a civil engineer. He knew of\nmy engineering and math skills and offered me a high-paying job with the state\nas a surveyor on a remote highway project. I decided it was time to get my\nbills paid off and actually make a move towards permanent, full-time pastoral\nministry, resigned from the bank and took the surveyor\u2019s job.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In the meantime, I\ndiscovered that the denomination was looking for a missionary to take the\nchurch in<\/span> <\/span>Nenana<\/span><\/span> <\/span>Alaska<\/span> <\/span>so\nI submitted my name to the missions organization. As soon as my father heard\nthat I had put my name in consideration, he contacted the missions leadership\nand put in his plug on my behalf. It never dawned on me \u2013 and certainly not on\nmy Dad \u2013 that this move would be regarded in exactly the same way they regarded\nDwain\u2019s pastorate of the church in Barrow: namely, another vote for my father,\nand a threat to those who sought political power and position. I waited, and\nwaited, and waited, and waited some more. It didn\u2019t make sense that I wasn\u2019t\nreceiving any response from the missions leadership. The need in Nenana<\/span> was urgent and I was more than qualified.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Weeks turned into\nmonths, and still no response was forthcoming. I asked Paul Bills to check on\nit for me and see if he could rattle some doors on my behalf. The look in his\neye when I asked should have spoken volumes, but I was na\u00efve enough to think\nthat he was fully supportive of my request. After some five months had passed\nand still no answer was forthcoming from the denomination, a letter arrived in\nthe mail from Audrey Mieir<\/span>, the songwriter, arranger\nand singer whom I had known from my days in<\/span> <\/span>Bible College. She\nasked me if I would pray about and consider taking over the youth ministry in\nher brother-in-law\u2019s church in<\/span> <\/span>Duarte,<\/span> <\/span>California:\nBethel Union Church. There was an immediate \u201cYES\u201d in my spirit. This was the\ndirection of the Lord, and it was clear.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I still didn\u2019t\nunderstand why I hadn\u2019t heard anything from the denominational missions\nleadership, but decided to let it pass. In the midst of the transition in\nmoving from<\/span> <\/span>Alaska<\/span> <\/span>to<\/span> <\/span>California,\nI used my aunt and uncle\u2019s home in<\/span> <\/span>Santa Clara,\nCalifornia<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

as\na stopover and a staging place from which to make the final move. A letter from\nthe missions board that was sent to my Alaskan address caught up with me in<\/span> <\/span>Santa\nClara<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

To sum up that\nletter, it read, \u201cwith your life so out of order and your bills unpaid, how\ndare you apply for a place of ministry with us?\u201d Since I had paid off my bills\nbefore leaving<\/span> <\/span>Alaska<\/span> <\/span>with ample income I'd\nreceived as a surveyor, the letter was puzzling to say the least. None of it\nmade any sense, and I simply threw the letter in the trash can. Besides, I\nalready had my direction from the Lord.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Now. Let\u2019s fast\nforward to the late fall of 1976. I\u2019ve been ministering with Dwain McKenzie\n(again!) at<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Long Beach Christian Center for the\npast five years. The events of a decade previous are long gone from our\nmemories. The past ten years have produced such change in me that I\u2019m no longer\nanything like what I was in 1966. There has been an unfolding of a series of\nmiracles and spectacular works of the Holy Spirit as I could scarcely have\nimagined. Now I\u2019ve accepted Scott Hessek\u2019s<\/span> offer to\ntake the ministry of CBN and the 700 Club to Alaska<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Arriving in<\/span> <\/span>Anchorageand<\/span><\/span> on my way to<\/span> <\/span>Saint\nPaul<\/span> <\/span>Island<\/span> <\/span>where my folks are\nministering, I spend a few days reacquainting myself with people I\u2019ve known\nthroughout much of my life. On Sunday, prior to my Monday departure for<\/span> <\/span>Saint\nPaul<\/span> <\/span>Island, I decide to visit the\ndenominational church in<\/span> <\/span>Anchorage<\/span> <\/span>where many of my past\nfriends or acquaintances would likely be. The Sunday morning service gets under\nway and the pastor makes a point of publicly acknowledging and recognizing my\npresence. At the conclusion of the service, a hand taps me on the shoulder from\nbehind and a familiar voice says, \u201cRegner<\/span>, I\u2019m so\nglad to see you.\u201d It was Paul Bills. I spun around, grabbed him and gave him a\nbig bear hug.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u201cBrother Bills, I\nsure am glad to see you! What are you doing here?\u201d I hadn\u2019t kept track of him\nor his movements, and was unaware that he had been gone from<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Nome for some time. Tears came to his\neyes, and he began to weep. \u201cBrother, I need to ask you for your forgiveness,\u201d\nhe said. You could have pushed me over with a feather. \u201cWhy on earth do you\nneed my forgiveness,\u201d I asked.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u201cTen years ago, I did\nyou a terrible wrong. When you applied for missionary status with the missions\nboard and requested appointment to Nenana<\/span>, I sent\naccusatory letters against you in order to block your appointment.\u201d He went on\nto relate the conspiracy that had taken place between him, the then-District\nSuperintendent, and others in ministry in<\/span> <\/span>Alaska<\/span> <\/span>to\nblock people from being in a position where they could become supporting votes\nfor my father to have the general superintendency<\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I responded,\n\u201cBrother, you didn\u2019t have to do that! Dad couldn\u2019t have cared less for the\ntitle or the position. He was too focused on accomplishing what the Lord\nanointed and commissioned him to do. Becoming the General Superintendent was\nthe last thing on his mind!\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Paul Bills nodded his\nhead. \u201cI know that, now, but I was too caught up in wanting the position\nmyself. I was wrong, Brother, and the Lord has taken me to task for it. I am\nsuffering His judgment because of my actions. He has instructed me to put my\nhouse in order and prepare to die. I have Lou Gehrig\u2019s disease, and have less\nthan two years to live. I did you wrong, among others, in the midst of my greed\nand manipulation to have political power, and I\u2019m asking you to forgive me.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I was so overcome\nwith emotion it was hard to speak. \u201cBrother Bills,\u201d I said brokenly, \u201cWhatever\nyou meant for evil, the Lord has meant for good. I wouldn\u2019t trade the past ten\nyears of seeing and experiencing all that the Lord has done in and through me\nfor the whole world! Consider yourself more than forgiven.\u201d I only saw Paul\nBills a couple of times after that. His health deteriorated rapidly and in less\nthan two years, he was gone. Inquiries into the whereabouts of the previous\nDistrict Superintendent, as well as the would-be pastor in Barrow (Hervel<\/span>) who had aided in the conspiracy to remove Dwain\nyielded the following, and I realized that the Lord was executing judgment.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The previous DS had\nalso been stricken with a nerve disorder that eventually caused his death. The\nchurch board in Barrow soon realized after Dwain\u2019s dismissal that he was not<\/b> guilty\nof the accusations leveled against him, and that in fact, Hervel<\/span>\nhad trumped up charges of criminal activity of which he was personally guilty.\nThe church asked for his removal and he was gone shortly thereafter, dismissed\nfrom the denomination. He moved to<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Nome  where he became its\nCity Manager. It didn\u2019t take long for Hervel<\/span> to\nresume his financial fraud. An investigation by federal agents brought about an\nindictment for embezzlement. His wife divorced him, and he wound up in prison.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

See what the spirit\nof Jezebel does to people? See what happens when folks become contaminated by\nthe sin of witchcraft? Remember the quote I shared with you from Revelation 2,\u201cAnd I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and\nshe repented not. Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit\nadultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.\nAnd I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I\nam he which searcheth<\/span> the reins and hearts: and I\nwill give unto every one of you according to your works.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That\u2019s EXACTLY what\nhappened to all those who committed adultery with the spirit of Jezebel in this\ncase. In case you haven\u2019t seen it yet, this WAS the spirit of Jezebel hard at\nwork to usurp the power, the authority, and the anointing of God\u2019s anointed and\nappointed. Those who committed adultery with the spirit of Jezebel were \u201ccast\ninto great tribulation\u201d because they never repented of their deeds \u2013 at least\nnot until it was too late. Paul Bills publicly repented for his part in the\nongoing conspiracies, and his public repentance exposed sin and corruption that\nhad plagued the missions organization in Alaska<\/span>  <\/span>for years.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In our last Coffee\nBreak, I said that I would show you how the Lord vindicated Dwain after all of\nthe false charges and accusations.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let\u2019s fast forward\none more time \u2013 this time to 1988. By this time, Della and I are\nin Anchorage Dwain calls me on the phone needing a place to stay for\na day or two ON THE WAY BACK TO BARROW!!<\/i><\/b> That\u2019s right.\nThink the Lord doesn\u2019t remember the afflictions of the righteous? Think the\nLord doesn\u2019t make good when His anointed and His appointed are falsely accused\nand conspired against? Think the Lord doesn\u2019t have the last word in these\naffairs?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Think again! After\nall the water that had gone under the bridge during a span of more than 21\nyears, Dwain was asked to consider taking the church again in Barrow.\nUnderstand that he hadn\u2019t been with the denomination during most of that span\nof time. Nevertheless, there were people in Barrow who had kept in touch with\nDwain, and when the opportunity presented itself they asked him to consider\ncoming back. Like me, Dwain had an adopted daughter of Eskimo heritage along\nwith an adopted son as well, and the ties meant ongoing contact.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It probably isn\u2019t\nnecessary to go into all of the details that unfolded other than to say that\nDwain resumed the pastorate of the church in Barrow, remaining there for 14\nmore years, and taking the church to new dimensions spiritually. That didn\u2019t\nmean he didn\u2019t have a battle royal on his hands when he returned to Barrow. He\ndid indeed. Some of those folks who had participated in the original conspiracy\nin 1966 thought he ought not to be back in Barrow and they once again raised\ntheir hands in judgment against him.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This time, the Lord\ndemonstrated His judgment, and just about every single person who lifted up\ntheir voice or their hand in judgment against Dwain suffered a similar fate as\nthose who initially led the conspiracy. Some died painful deaths in the midst\nof diseases that wouldn't heal. A couple wound up in prison. God\u2019s tolerance\nwith Christians who submit continually to witchcraft and the spirit of Jezebel\nhas grown shorter and shorter and shorter as the age has been drawing to an\nend. When people continue to commit spiritual adultery with those wicked\nspirits, refusing to repent of their sins, the judgment of God has a finality\nabout it that displays little tolerance.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I still want to take\nyou in greater depth into the eight characteristics that depict the nature and\ncharacter of this spirit, and that\u2019s where we will go with it next week.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n
