Before\nwe get started today, let me first begin by expressing my very great\nappreciation to Rich Hoffman for his diligent labors in creating a new website\nfor the Coffee Breaks. As already noted, all 30 of the Multiply.com sites that\nhost these Coffee Breaks (for some 100,000 readers) will vanish as of December\n1. Rich is gifted in creating websites and he stepped up to offer his services\nin creating a new site for us. That\nsaid, let's resume our discussion from Revelation 6, 7 & 8.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We've\ntalked briefly about the first five of the seals being opened, along with the\nfour horsemen being released upon the earth; namely, (1) the rider on the white\nhorse going forth with the spirit of antichrist; (2) the rider on the red horse\ngoing forth with the kind of death, persecution, and tribulation that comes\nwith a religious spirit (such as seen during the Inquisition); (3) the black\nhorse with its rider causing major weather disturbances and changes, resulting\nin famine and disease being released in unprecedented proportions; and (4) the\npale (green) horse with its rider empowered to rain death and destruction\nthrough even more famine (than the rider on the black horse), rare and exotic\ndiseases, wars on every scale, pestilence and animal attacks.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I\nneed to insert some commentary here that should have been included in the past\nCoffee Break. It is important to remember what Jesus said when the disciples\nasked Him what would be the signs and the indicators of His return and the end\nof this sinful age.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And Jesus answered and said to them, \u201cSee to it that no one\nmisleads you. For many will come in My name, saying, \u2018I am the Christ,\u2019 and\nwill mislead many. You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you\nare not frightened, for those things<\/i> must take place, but that<\/i> is\nnot yet the end. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against\nkingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. But all\nthese things are merely<\/i> the beginning of birth pangs. Then they will\ndeliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all\nnations because of My name. At that time many will fall away and will betray\none another and hate one another. Many false prophets will arise and will\nmislead many. Because lawlessness is increased, most people\u2019s love will grow\ncold. But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved. This gospel of the\nkingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations,\nand then the end will come."<\/span>(Matthew 24:4-14 NASB)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Jesus is making it\nabundantly clear that the same events He showed to John (in the Revelation)\nwould precede His return. He says of believers in particular,<\/span> <\/span>"Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill\nyou, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name."<\/span> <\/span>Do\nyou see it? Tribulation is a natural part of our existence as believers -- and\nin particular, what literally any reasoning individual would refer to as\n"great tribulation." But Jesus is not coming -- NOT YET anyway!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Ever notice that\nthere's no such thing as a "seven-year great tribulation" anywhere in\nRevelation? That's because tribulation has been ongoing since the first\ncentury. This "seven-year tribulation" teaching is a total\nmisapplication of Daniel's prophecy in Daniel 9 -- and I'll probably get to\nthat before I'm done with this discussion.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Returning to Jesus'\nstatement from Matthew 24, He makes a critical statement that believers today\nneed to get a hold of:<\/span> <\/span>"This Gospel of the\nKingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations,\nand then the end (of the age) will come."<\/span>\n<\/span>The\n"Gospel of the Kingdom" is NOT the message of Salvation, although the\nmessage of Salvation must certainly be included. The Gospel of the Kingdom is\nthe message AND the demonstration of the Kingdom of Heaven ruling in the midst\nof a wicked and perverse generation, along with the signs and wonders that come\nthrough and with, accompanying the citizens of the Kingdom -- Sons and\nDaughters of God who boldly and uncompromisingly show forth every aspect of the\nGlory of the Lord! It is -- as John clearly demonstrates in Revelation -- the\nteaching, the preaching, the practice AND the demonstration of all that Jesus\nis DURING a darkening age with gross darkness falling on people.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Jesus goes on to say,<\/span> <\/span>"But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved."<\/span> <\/span>Endures?\nYes Sir! Yes Ma'am! Endures AND overcomes all things! Tribulation. Trial.\nTesting. Persecution. Temptation. The rebellion of our flesh in the midst of it\nall. Yesssirrrreeee<\/span>! Endures and overcomes all\nthings.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

OK! My inserted\ncommentary got a bit long, but let's continue with our pictures.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nopening of the fifth seal made clear that there were many more believers -- and\nespecially those who spoke out prophetically against the sins in the earth\nbeing committed by nations and leaders of nations -- to suffer persecution,\nopposition and death because of the Word of the Lord in them at the hand of\nthose who were rebuked and conscienceless. Yet the promise of the Lord was that\nHe would personally avenge the deaths of all those slain for their testimony.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Now\nwe come to the sixth seal. Although the unfolding events will cause men and\nwomen to blame the catastrophes on the wrath of God, it is clear that this is\nnothing more than a colossal wrap-up of "great" tribulation in and\nupon the earth because of the weight of sin upon creation.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let's\nfirst take a look at the reference in Revelation 6:12-17:<\/span> <\/span>"I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great\nearthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole\nmoon turned blood red, and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as late figs\ndrop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. The sky receded like a\nscroll, rolling up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.\nThen the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty,\nand every slave and every free man hid in caves and among the rocks of the\nmountains. They called to the mountains and the rocks, \u201cFall on us and hide us\nfrom the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For\nthe great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?\u201d<\/span>(NIV)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Now,\ntake a look at how Isaiah prophesies with a nearly identical picture:<\/span> <\/span>"And it shall come to pass, that<\/i> he who fleeth<\/span> from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit;\nand he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare:\nfor the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do\nshake. The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the\nearth is moved exceedingly. The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard,\nand shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be\nheavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again. And it shall come to pass\nin that day, that<\/i> the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that\nare<\/i> on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth. And they shall be\ngathered together, as<\/i> prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be\nshut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited. Then the moon\nshall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in\nmount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.\u201d<\/span> <\/span>(Isaiah\n24:18-23 KJV)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Isaiah\nmakes some clarification here as to why these events are taking place when he\nsays,<\/span> <\/span>"The earth shall\nreel to and fro like a drunkard, and it shall be removed like a cottage; and\nthe transgression<\/span> <\/span>(Hebrew:pesha<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>'<\/span>:\nsin, rebellion<\/i>)<\/span><\/b> <\/span>thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise\nagain."<\/span> <\/span>He thus makes it clear that it is the\nweight of sin that is causing the earth to reel to and fro, causing the massive\nearthquakes and upheavals, along with the catastrophic hurricanes and flooding\nrains<\/span> <\/span>("<\/span>the windows from on high are open<\/span>")<\/span> <\/span>[e.g.,\nHurricanes Andrew, Hugo, Katrina, Isaac, just to name a few].<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

There\nis a piece of hidden manna in Isaiah's revelation that I personally find\nextremely exciting, and it comes in the form of Isaiah's statement,<\/span> <\/span>"And it shall come to pass in that day, that<\/i> the\nLORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are<\/i> on high, and the\nkings of the earth upon the earth.\u201d<\/span>\n<\/span>This\nis a picture of highly successful spiritual warfare being waged on demonic\nprinces (Paul refers to them in the Greek text of Ephesians 6:12 as<\/span> <\/span>kosmokrator<\/span><\/span> <\/span>--\nworld rulers of darkness<\/i><\/b>) who exercise their influence over\ncertain cities, states, nations, and regions of the world.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Isaiah's\nprophecy is a picture of a portion of Jesus' prayer (we often call it "The\nLord's Prayer") where He instructs believers to pray,<\/span> <\/span>"Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in\nHeaven."<\/span> <\/span>Believers who engage in spiritual\nwarfare through prayer and intercession dethrone wicked princes in heavenly\nplaces, and at the same time effect visible change in the governance of cities,\nstates, nations and regions of the world. When intercessors exercise the\nauthority delegated to them by a<\/span>\n<\/span>rhema<\/span><\/span> <\/span>word from the Lord,\nand rip out the pinions<\/span> of the thrones upon which\ndemonic princes exercise power and influence over the affairs of the areas of\ntheir responsibility, they bring the Kingdom of Heaven, along with the\nauthority of the Lord Jesus Christ, to bear upon events, circumstances and the\ngovernance of those areas.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Are\nyou seeing it, folks? This is happening now, as we speak! What an exciting time\nto be alive! These events are unfolding all around us, and we're on the verge\nof a massive increase in this activity. Tribulation? Yup! It is, but it is also\na gorgeous time of victory for those saints who overcome. I wouldn't trade this\ntime for any other time in all of history!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

There's\na whole lot more to share in these pictures from Isaiah's prophecy, and from\nJohn's Revelation, but it really would take us afield from today's discussion\nso we'll save that for another time. That said, let's take a break from these\npictures of tribulation for a bit -- and Revelation 7 does just that.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

John\nmakes is very clear that he sees an interruption to the opening of the seven seals\nwhen he writes,<\/span> <\/span>"After this [the\nopening of the sixth seal] I saw four angels standing at the four corners of\nthe earth, holding back the four winds of the earth, so that no wind would blow\non the earth or on the sea or on any tree."<\/span>(Revelation 7:1 NASB)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Numerous\ntimes throughout the Word we see references to "the four winds" or\nthe four angels who stand at the four corners of the earth. Obviously the\nconcept of "the four corners of the earth" is a metaphor since the\nearth is a globe without corners per se. Each time throughout the Word where we\nsee a reference to the four winds, it involves either a change of government or\na holding back of the government(s) of the earth. I don't have time in this\ndiscussion to go there today, and exhaustively demonstrate this, but suffice it\nto say that John -- in giving us a picture of the angels holding back the four\nwinds -- is communicating a pause in world governmental affairs while the Lord\ndoes something extraordinary among the Jewish people.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\nknow that the Bride of Christ is comprised of two parts: the Jews and the\nGentiles (or other nations of the world). Metaphorically and pictorially\nthroughout Scripture, we see these two parts of the Bride represented by fig\ntrees (of which the fig, the sycamore and the mulberry are often illustrated)\nand olive trees. The apostle Paul drew the analogy in Romans 11 of the Gentiles\nbeing illustrated as a wild olive tree whose branches were cut off and grafted\n(contrary to nature) into the cultivated olive tree (representing the Jews) so\nas to make one new and productive fruitful olive tree.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Here's\nan interesting illustration for you. Remember the 24 Elders who are worshiping\nbefore the Throne of God (seen throughout Revelation)? That's two sets of 12.\n(I'll amplify this a bit more shortly.) Twelve come from Israel and twelve come\nfrom among "the children of men."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Now,\nscientifically -- horticulturally<\/span> -- speaking, the\npractice of grafting wild and cultivated olive trees together has produced 24\nseparate genus of olive trees resulting in 900 separate species. Think that's\njust a coincidence? Nope!<\/span> <\/span>(That bit of information comes\ncompliments of Microsoft Encarta.)<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Moving\nright along with the Revelation John sees (chapter 7) we are told,<\/span> <\/span>"And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having\nthe seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels,\nto whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth,\nneither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in\ntheir foreheads. And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there\nwere<\/i> sealed an hundred and<\/i> forty and<\/i> four thousand of all the\ntribes of the children of Israel."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Notice\nthe command given the four angels:<\/span>\n<\/span>"Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees<\/u>,\ntill we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads."<\/span> <\/span>The\ncommand is very specific: DON'T HURT THE TREES<\/i>! What trees? The olive\ntrees!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

How\ndo we know this, and why do I single out the olive tree? Because of the rest of\nthe command, and the action which follows the command. The angels are sent to\ngather out and mark (seal) the foreheads of twelve thousand servants of God out\nof each of the twelve tribes of Israel.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

[Let\nme pause parenthetically to note that the mark in the forehead of the servants\nof God in the Greek text is the word,<\/span>\n<\/span>sphragizo<\/span><\/span> <\/span>(pronounced, sfragidzo<\/span>). This word differs from the mark in the forehead\nthat people take from the Beast. That word is<\/span>\n<\/span>charagma<\/span><\/span>.<\/span> <\/span>Charagma<\/span><\/span> <\/span>is a mark or\nbadge of servitude<\/u><\/i><\/b>. It is something which stamps itself indelibly\nin the character or mindset of an individual.<\/span>\n<\/span>Sphragizo<\/span><\/span> <\/span>on the other hand, is\na mark of security and preservation<\/u><\/i><\/b>: literally and\nfiguratively, to attest to, to keep secret<\/u><\/i><\/b>.]<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Thus,\nwe have 144,000 (the number twelve taken to completion or perfection) gathered\nfrom Israel -- a number which represents that portion of the Bride taken from\nIsrael -- who are to be protected and preserved from injury or destruction\nduring the horrific events that are about to unfold. Revelation 14 reveals to\nus the second half of the Bride as the 144,000 "redeemed from among men,\nbeing the firstfruits<\/span> unto God and the Lamb."\nWe'll get to this group in due time, but that's not part of today's discussion.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

By\nthe way, we are still NOT at the wrath of God being poured out! We're still in\nthe midst of great tribulation, stress, persecution and opposition. We're still\nin the middle of events unfolding upon the earth as a result of the weight of\nsin and rebellion.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nsingular difference is that for the first time we are seeing the protection,\nthe safety and security of the Bride of Christ taking place so that, no matter\nwhat befalls the earth as a result of the unfolding destruction and chaos, the\nBride of Christ -- that set apart and holy, glorious people of God -- is\nprotected! Understand, folks, that they are not taken OUT OF, but rather\nPROTECTED -- SEALED BY THE WORD OF THE LORD -- IN THE MIDST OF tribulation!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Consider\nnow the next thing that John sees along with the 144,000 redeemed from Israel:<\/span> <\/span>"After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no\nman could number, of all nations, and kindreds<\/span>, and\npeople, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with\nwhite robes, and palms in their hands; And cried with a loud voice, saying,\nSalvation to our God which sitteth<\/span> upon the throne,\nand unto the Lamb."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I'm\ngetting ahead of myself, but before we quit for today, compare that statement\nto this one from Revelation 14:1-5:<\/span>\n<\/span>"And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion<\/span>, and with him an hundred forty and<\/i> four\nthousand, having his Father\u2019s name written in their foreheads. And I heard a\nvoice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great\nthunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: And they\nsung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and\nthe elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and<\/i> forty and<\/i>\nfour thousand, which were redeemed from the earth<\/u>. These are they which\nwere not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow\nthe Lamb whithersoever he goeth<\/span>. These were\nredeemed from among men<\/u>, being<\/i> the firstfruits<\/span>\nunto God and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are\nwithout fault before the throne of God."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Here\nwe have a second distinct group of 144,000 who are redeemed from among men --\nNOT from the 12 tribes of Israel. We'll get into this more in our next Coffee\nBreak, but it confirms the picture of the wild olive being grafted into the\ncultivated olive.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We've\ngot a long ways to go yet in this discussion, so let me point out that John is\ntold by the Angel of the Lord,<\/span> <\/span>"These are they which came out of great tribulation, and\nhave washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb."<\/span> <\/span>The\nsignificance of this is that these are the overcomers<\/span>.\nThey have overcome tribulation, testing, opposition, and persecution. They have\novercome the same demonic principalities described in the seven letters. By\nvirtue of their overcoming (and that overcoming is a spiritually disciplined\ndecision and effort) they have "washed their robes" and made\nthemselves ready for the Marriage of the Lamb.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

OK.\nHave to stop there. We'll continue this discussion again.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>"<\/span>Fresh and exceptional\nthings are about to take place in the Church around the world<\/span><\/b>. It\nwill stretch our faith, but it will uniquely prepare us for an awesome demonstration\nof God's glory. The Bible foretells that the spirit of this generation will be\nas it was during the days of Noah. The Scriptures portray Noah as one who found\nfavor in God's sight.<\/b><\/span>

\n<\/span>Through a divine visitation, God specifically prepared Noah for\nunprecedented events that unfolded in his generation. No human reasoning or\nnatural wisdom could have provided the necessary insight and strategic\nblueprint for survival. Noah prevailed only by the Spirit of Revelation and\nobedience to the spoken word of the Lord.<\/span><\/b>

\n<\/span>Only in the supernatural realm can we receive the provision for\nour generation. This spiritual reality requires a far greater faith than we\npresently possess on a corporate level. Therefore, we must set our faith in\norder to access God's end-time promises to the Church.
