Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Once\nagain I'm out of sync with my normal publishing schedule for these Coffee <span\nclass=SpellE>Breaks.Della's<\/span> mother, Opal <span class=SpellE>Hendershot<\/span>,\nwent home to be with the Lord just over a month <span class=SpellE>ago.At<\/span>\n83 years of age she's had a rich and full life, the overwhelming majority of\nwhich was spent walking with the <span class=SpellE>Lord.Ever<\/span> since\nDella's step-dad went home in 2001, we've mostly cared for her <span\nclass=SpellE>mom.She<\/span> outlived both her first husband (Della's natural\nfather) and her second <span class=SpellE>husband.The<\/span> last few years\nhave seen declining health with congestive heart disease and she has repeatedly\nsaid -- and especially during the past few months -- that she wanted to go\nhome.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Even\nthough we've prepared for this day and thought we were quite ready for Mom's <span\nclass=SpellE>homegoing<\/span>, it still caught Della off-guard and turned out\nto be quite a struggle for her <span class=SpellE>emotionally.The<\/span> <span\nclass=SpellE>homegoing<\/span> service Friday, May 11th was nothing short of\nspectacular, being filled with praise, worship and testimonies of lives changed\nor influenced for the sake of the Kingdom of <span class=SpellE>God.Much<\/span>\nof the family was able to gather together for the event with Della's brothers\nand her sister traveling, along with our daughter, Danielle, and her husband,\nAnthony, and our youngest son, Joshua, and his wife, Michelle, all of them from\nAlaska to be here.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Bob\n<span class=SpellE>Widmann<\/span>, who pastors Cornerstone Assembly, did a\nspectacular job of ministering at the funeral, and five people responded to the\nmessage of salvation at the conclusion.<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;\nfont-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>The\nloss of Della's mother meant that we've had estate matters to take care of, and\nthose things have kept us incredibly busy and pushed to long hours with family\nmembers helping to dispose of legal matters and distribution of possessions\nthroughout. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Hopefully,\nthe long-overdue release of this Coffee Break will get things back on track.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>We\nreally could continue our discussion on the Call of the Bridegroom, and perhaps\nthis Coffee Break will serve as an addendum to that <span class=SpellE>study.One<\/span>\nof the things that seems abundantly clear is that there has been an excessive\nfocus within the structured church world on getting people born again and\nmissing entirely the disciplined walk with the Lord Jesus Christ that must\ncommence immediately upon making the initial commitment.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>The\nGreat Commission (as we are so inclined to call it) is not a commission from\nthe Lord to get people &quot;saved.&quot;Contrary to some of the popular\ntranslations, Jesus did not simply say, &quot;Go ye therefore and teach all\nnations.....&quot;His command was that we go forth and &quot;disciple&quot; all\nnations.&quot;<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>The\nNASB translates the Greek text accurately, putting it like this:<\/span><span\nstyle='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\"'> <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"NewsweekGrotesqueEight\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&quot;<span\nstyle='color:red'>All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on <span\nclass=SpellE>earth.<u>Go<\/u><\/span><u> therefore and make disciples of all the\nnations<\/u>, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy\nSpirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with\nyou always, even to Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>There's\na huge difference between simply preaching and teaching, and &quot;<span\nclass=SpellE>discipling<\/span>.&quot; The truth of this understanding really\nbegan to spread throughout the body of Christ during the Charismatic Renewal\nduring the early 1970's.I remember when -- at a World Map Conference -- Bob\nMumford was the scheduled speaker and he stepped aside for Juan Carlos Ortiz to\nshare the remarkable successes of the &quot;discipleship&quot; ministry Juan\nCarlos was seeing in Argentina.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>As\nhas been and continues to be true, whenever real truth begins to be propagated\nwithin the body of Christ and Christians begin to grow and mature and become a\ngenuine threat to Satan's lies and deception, he seeks to contaminate the\nmessage with extremes and thereby render the truth either unpalatable to most\nChristians or laced with so much error that it becomes totally <span\nclass=SpellE>rejected.I<\/span> watched this take place following Juan Carlos'\nsharing.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>What\nworked spectacularly for the Argentinean Revival (as it has been sometimes\nreferred) with the teaching and practical applications of the disciplined walk\nin Christ Jesus mostly failed in North <span class=SpellE>America.It<\/span>\nwasn't that what Juan Carlos Ortiz shared was wrong, or that his methods and\napplications were <span class=SpellE>wrong.The<\/span> problem was that the\nmessage and applications of discipleship <b><i><u>as integrated into\nArgentinean culture and life<\/u><\/i><\/b> simply did not translate well into\nAmerican (or more accurately, &quot;westernized&quot;) lifestyles and culture.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Many\nof my pastor friends attempted to apply Juan Carlos' methodologies within their\nAmerican churches with explosive and disastrous <span class=SpellE>results.It<\/span>\nbecame known within this country as &quot;the Discipleship Controversy,&quot;\nand because of the failures and damaged lives that resulted from the\nmisapplication of the truth, large segments of the body of Christ rejected the\nwhole idea of being <span class=SpellE>discipled<\/span>.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Just\nbecause South American methodologies mostly failed in North America doesn't\nmean that the message of discipleship and <span class=SpellE>discipling<\/span>\nwas or is <span class=SpellE>wrong!Far<\/span> from <span class=SpellE>it!Each<\/span>\npart of the world -- OK, let's make it more personal -- each and every segment\nof society has a uniqueness to it that requires a practical understanding and\napplication which makes it work.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Let's\ntalk for a minute about some of the practical aspects and principles of true\ndiscipleship.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>The\nwhole idea of a &quot;disciple&quot; is found in the core word: <span\nclass=SpellE>discipline.A<\/span> disciple is one who lives his or her life in a\ndisciplined manner obeying the tenets and principles set forth by the mentor or\nthe teacher or leader under whom they've submitted.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Living\na disciplined life is a whole lot more than simply refraining from certain\nactivities you might otherwise enjoy, or engaging in a certain careful and\ncontrolled <span class=SpellE>lifestyle.The<\/span> &quot;disciple&quot; learns\nto adopt the mindset, the thought processes, the character and the nature of\nhis\/her mentor or instructor.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>What\nwas it that happened to Peter when he stood outside warming himself by the fire\nwhile Jesus was being interrogated by those who shortly thereafter crucified\nHim?(See Matthew 26:69-73)First a young girl says to Peter, &quot;You were with\nJesus of Galilee.&quot;Shortly thereafter another young woman says to those\nstanding by, &quot;This man was also with Jesus of Nazareth.&quot;<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian Dwain McKenzie at Long Beach Christian Center, Dwain and I\nperiodically participated in conferences at Church on the Way in Van Nuys, <span\nclass=SpellE>California.Anyone<\/span> who's been around Jack <span\nclass=SpellE>Hayford<\/span> for any length of time knows that he has a very\ndistinctive speaking style and expressions you can identify anywhere.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New class=SpellE>ministry.If<\/span> you didn't see them and simply heard\nthem speak, you could be forgiven for thinking that you were listening to <span\nclass=SpellE>Jack.They<\/span> had his speaking style down to a &quot;T&quot;\nalong with many of his phrases or expressions.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>That's\nhow it was with <span class=SpellE>Peter.He'd<\/span> been <span class=SpellE>discipled<\/span>\nby the Lord Jesus <span class=SpellE>Christ.His<\/span> mannerisms were <span\nclass=SpellE>affected.He<\/span> carried on a conversation like Jesus <span\nclass=SpellE>did.He<\/span> spoke like <span class=SpellE>Jesus.He<\/span> had\nyet to be filled with Holy Spirit, however, and as a consequence lacked the\nboldness that comes with that infilling.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Because\nJesus was being accused before Caiaphas of blasphemy, Peter's fears kicked in\nand he was afraid of being known in this court setting as an associate or\nfriend of Jesus, or being one of His <span class=SpellE>disciples.In<\/span>\norder, therefore, to convince the bystanders with whom he'd been carrying on a\nconversation that he was not part of Jesus' disciples, he did something that\nwas so uncharacteristic of Jesus as to express himself first with an oath,\nswearing [on his mother's grave?] that he didn't even know <span class=SpellE>Jesus.Then<\/span>\nafter being identified for the third time as one who was normally seen with\nJesus, he tried to convince his accusers with the use of cursing and vulgar\nlanguage.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>But\nJesus' mannerisms, His speech and His countenance were known for peace, for\nauthority and (mostly) for exceptional <span class=SpellE>gentleness.Peter<\/span>\nmay have temporarily put off those who questioned his association, but Jesus'\nmentoring, His teaching, His instruction and His <span class=SpellE>discipling<\/span>\nof Peter had made real <span class=SpellE>change.When<\/span> Peter heard the\ncock crow, it shook him to the core of his <span class=SpellE>being.He<\/span>\nrealized that he had done just what Jesus had said he would do: he denied Jesus\nthree <span class=SpellE>times.And<\/span> Peter couldn't stick <span\nclass=SpellE>around.He<\/span> went out and wept bitter, remorseful tears over\nhis betrayal of Jesus.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal Jesus was the One\nwho had sent him out to heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast\nout demons, and preach the Gospel of the <span class=SpellE>Kingdom.And<\/span>\nPeter had seen direct, measurable, tangible results and consequences of\nfunctioning in the very <span class=SpellE>onoma<\/span>, the character and\nnature of the Lord Jesus <span class=SpellE>Christ.That<\/span> ministry had\naffected his <span class=SpellE>household.His<\/span> wife's mother had been\nraised from her sick bed, made completely whole.<\/span><span style='font-size:\n12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span class=SpellE>superiors.He<\/span>\nlives a life of absolute <span class=SpellE>discipline.As<\/span> a result, he\nhimself has been commissioned and placed in authority over 100 soldiers who are\n&quot;under authority&quot; to him as their superior.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>The\ncenturion recognizes that Jesus operates under the authority of Father with\nFather's commissioning, and that with that place of submission comes the full\nbacking and commitment of Heaven to support whatever command He <span\nclass=SpellE>gives.He<\/span> has both seen and heard of the miracles that Jesus\ndoes and knows that He could never do those things without first having been\ncommissioned and authorized by direct command.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian class=SpellE>discipler<\/span>\nmust have personally seen, heard and -- through personal experience -- lived\nand walked the discipline of Father through Jesus Christ, operating through the\npower and enabling of Holy Spirit.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>In\nthe past 65+ years of walking with the Lord, it has been my pleasure to lead\nmany to salvation through the Lord Jesus <span class=SpellE>Christ.I've<\/span>\nlost track of the number of people laid hands on to receive the baptism of the\nHoly Spirit with the attendant signs, and couldn't begin to tell you how many\npeople I've baptized in <span class=SpellE>water.That's<\/span> all well and\ngood, but the command of Jesus is a whole lot more than <span class=SpellE>that.The<\/span>\nissue isn't how many folks I've led to the New Birth: the issue is how many\nI've successfully <span class=SpellE>discipled<\/span> in such a way that they\nduplicate the same presence, authority and power of Holy Spirit manifested in\nand through <span class=SpellE>me.That<\/span> number, I'm sorry to say, is a\nwhole lot smaller than the number of those with whom I've prayed for salvation.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Evangelism\nis a whole lot more than preaching and leading souls to the <span class=SpellE>Lord.Evangelism<\/span>\n-- at least Jesus' definition of evangelism -- incorporates living a\ndisciplined life under the command of Holy <span class=SpellE>Spirit.True<\/span>\nevangelism involves becoming involved with those whom you lead to Jesus and <span\nclass=SpellE>discipling<\/span> them so that the same Word of Life, the same\nWord of Faith, the same Word of Love exhibited in your life is duplicated and\nmanifested in them.<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Make\n<span class=SpellE>sense?Good!Let<\/span> me share a personal experience -- one\nfrom 65 years ago for the sake of class=SpellE>him.I<\/span>\npreached, testified, cajoled and did everything I could to persuade my friends\nand playmates that they needed to commit themselves to Jesus make snow caves,\nigloos, or <span class=SpellE>whatever.My<\/span> brother and I, however, had a\ndifferent <span class=SpellE>plan.We<\/span> borrowed one of Dad's hand saws and\ncut out a room roughly 8 X 8 X 5 in a huge snow bank that swept over our house\nand <span class=SpellE>church.Naturally<\/span>, we cut out a neat door and <span\nclass=SpellE>window.We<\/span> followed that with cutting blocks of hardened\nsnow which made a perfect bench, an altar, a podium to preach from; and,\npresto! Mom gave us some candles to use for light, and we had ourselves a\nlittle <span class=SpellE>church!Now<\/span>, don't <span class=SpellE>laugh.It<\/span>\nwas serious business to friends and playmates to &quot;have\nchurch.&quot;<span class=SpellE>Howie<\/span> (my brother) led the <span\nclass=SpellE>singing.I<\/span> preached a 15 or 20-minute salvation message and\nhad &quot;an altar call&quot; just like <span class=SpellE>Dad's.It<\/span>\nwasn't a game, and I wasn't <span class=SpellE>pretending.This<\/span> took\nplace during a three-year period between the ages of four and seven when I had\nconstant visitations from <span class=SpellE>angels.Mom<\/span> had taught me to\nread by reading the Bible, and by this time I knew it fairly well -- at least I\nknew the pertinent parts of it as far as salvation and baptism were concerned.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>You\nsee, I was learning from Dad's example and the pattern he'd set for <span\nclass=SpellE>me.He<\/span> was my <span class=SpellE>discipler.Three<\/span> of\nmy playmates that day responded to the salvation message and knelt at that snow\naltar to receive Jesus <span class=SpellE>Christ.Their<\/span> response was real\nand from that day forward I continued to teach them from the <span\nclass=SpellE>Word.I<\/span> could only teach, of course, those things that were\nreal to me, but my objective was to transmit them into the lives of my three\nfriends.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Well,\nat forty below zero, you don't baptize anyone in water, so you wait until\nspring when water (especially after an abundant winter like that one) <span\nclass=SpellE>abounds.Seems<\/span> like it was in May or early June when the\ntemperatures were between 40 and 50 degrees (above zero, of course) and deep\nmud puddles flourished everywhere.(When Dad built the church in Nome he didn't\ninclude a baptismal tank, so we just did the logical thing.)By now I had passed\nmy sixth <span class=SpellE>birthday.My<\/span> friends were ready to be\nbaptized, and we found a suitable mud puddle where they could be <span\nclass=SpellE>immersed.We<\/span> didn't think about changes of clothes or\nanything like <span class=SpellE>that.I<\/span> walked into the water and, one\nby one, they came in after me to be <span class=SpellE>baptized.I<\/span> never\nknew whether they got in trouble with their folks for coming home soaking wet\nin their clothes, but we all knew that we had taken the proper steps as far as\nthe Lord was concerned!(OK, no fair <span class=SpellE>laughing!Like<\/span> I\nsaid, it was first converts went on to become\nstrong Christian believers, and one of them went on into pastoral <span\nclass=SpellE>ministry.It<\/span> was my first experience at <span
