Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>During\nthe 2003-2004 political campaign\/election cycle I ran for the U.S. House of\nRepresentatives to represent Texas' 25th Congressional District. After losing\nthe Primary a sizeable number of people approached me who apologized for not\nhaving voted for me. These were bankers, lawyers, businessmen, church leaders\n-- you name it -- all of whom crossed over to vote on the Democratic ticket\nthinking that they would cast their vote for the weaker of the two Democratic\ncandidates and thereby alter the race dynamics in my favor.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><b><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Polling\nseemed to indicate to them that I had a fair lead against my Republican\nopponent, and they felt like I had the race in the bag. They felt safe in\ncrossing over so as to alter the outcome of the Democratic ticket. In fact,\ntheir crossover vote made virtually no difference in the outcome of the\nDemocratic Primary, whereas had they actually cast their vote for me my outcome\nwould have been very different.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><b><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>As\na result I published a political commentary consisting of a somewhat\nabbreviated version of today's Coffee Break. Because of what we are currently\nseeing take place in the ongoing Primaries around this nation I felt the\nimportance of once again expanding on that same commentary.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><b><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>That\nsaid, pour yourself a good 16-ounce cup of that Double-Roast French, pull up a\nchair and let's discuss the current spiritual state of our political spectrum.<\/span><\/b><span\nstyle='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><b><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>One\nof the tragedies of modern society is the drive towards political correctness. Striving\nto be inoffensive to every segment of society and desiring to please everyone\nhas created a tyranny of the minorities. Despite the fact that mainstream<\/span><\/b><span\nstyle='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\"'> <\/span><b><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>America<\/span><\/b><span\nstyle='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\"'> <\/span><b><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>overwhelmingly\nprofesses to be Christian, the majority succumbs to the pressure of the\nminority.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><b><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Election\nafter election, people who privately hold mainstream, conservative, Christian\nvalues continue to vote for candidates who -- year after year -- peck away at,\nand incrementally erode the freedoms granted by our founding fathers in our\nUnited States Constitution.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><b><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Why\nis this? What is it that possesses people to compromise their values? How is it\nthat we can go behind the curtain in the voting booth, away from the prying\neyes of those who want to control the election outcomes, and vote contrary to\nwhat we know to be right?<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><b><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>The\nanswer, plain and simple? Fear.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><b><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>There\nare three families of fear that infect and contaminate the human race: the Fear\nof Evil, the Fear of Man, and the Fear of Death. These three families of fear\noperate respectively in each of the domains of human existence.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><b><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>The\nFear of Evil affects people at the level of their spirit. It manipulates the\nhearts of men and women to react in fear where anything spiritual is concerned.\nIt causes people to be in terror of God, substituting a healthy respect and\nreverential awe of God for an unhealthy terror. The Fear of Evil is the driving\nforce behind all religion and man-made efforts to please God. It substitutes a\nlove-relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ for a set of rules, regulations\nand laws that are performance driven.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><b><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>The\nFear of Man works at the level of our human relationships. It works in the mind\nand soul of man, causing him to fear how others think of him or see him. In the\nsame way that the Fear of Evil is a liar, the Fear of Man is a liar, invoking\nimaginary scenarios of how we see ourselves through the eyes of our friends and\nsociety in general. The Fear of Man drives modern politics in a way that seems\nto escape a large segment of the voting public; and people seem to be oblivious\nto the fact that their voting choices are being manipulated by an evil spirit.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><b><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>The\nFear of Death directly compromises us at the level of our flesh, our natural\nexistence. It causes us to fear the unknown, creating imaginary situations that\nthreaten our physical well being. With the modern push for a socialist society\nwhere Government becomes our source of supply, steals our trust and confidence\nin the Lord as our Source, and forces the nation into a &quot;<span\nclass=SpellE>gimmee<\/span>, <span class=SpellE>gimmee<\/span>&quot; welfare\nmentality, the Fear of Death becomes an increasingly driving force in our\nelectoral choices because we fear having that money or those benefits being\ntaken away from us. The subconscious fear is that we will die or suffer\nphysically if we lose those things a &quot;freebies&quot; from the government.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><b><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>So,\nhow exactly do these fears affect the way we behave in the voting booth? Let\u2019s\nlook at a series of events that have unfolded over the past 50 \u2013 60 years.<\/span><\/b><span\nstyle='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><b><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>First,\nlet\u2019s define an increasing political polarity.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><b><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>For\nthe conservative, the Christian, the individual who believes in the essential\nliberties granted in our Constitution for life, liberty, and the pursuit of\nhappiness \u2013 or, to quote the Apostle Paul, \u201c\u2026.that we may lead a quiet and\npeaceable life in all Godliness and honesty,\u201d the objective is a candidate who\nwill promote and defend those liberties without taking any more from us than is\nabsolutely necessary to accomplish the goal. Unfortunately, conservatives \u2013 by\nvirtue of their very nature \u2013 tend to be passive and non confrontational.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><b><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>The\nsecularist, humanist, socialist liberal believes that he or she is entitled to\nthose liberties at the expense of the state; that if the state lacks sufficient\nmoney to guarantee his or her \u201cright\u201d to have those liberties regardless of\ncost, it is perfectly acceptable \u2013 nay, mandatory \u2013 that the funds be extracted\nby whatever means necessary from those who have prospered by their labors. That\nmindset leads to a dependency upon the state. The state becomes the arbiter of\nall things, and the supplier of all needs. Personal responsibility diminishes\nas the state picks up more and more authority, and provides more and more\nservices.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><b><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>In\nthe voting booth, the conservative \u2013 being more or less non confrontational \u2013\nadopts a compromising attitude if the individual running for office <u>mostly<\/u>\nsupports the concept of smaller, less intrusive government, and stands for <u>some<\/u>\nof the basic moral and spiritual values that epitomize conservatism. The fact\nthat the candidate might be 55% conservative and 45% socialist humanist is set\naside in fear.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><o:p>&nbsp;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:\nnormal'><b><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Californian FB\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>That\nfear is not overpowering. It is not apparently or obviously driving the\nindividual. It is subversive, and subconscious. It is persuasive. It is <span\nclass=SpellE>seductive.And<\/span> it manipulates through either or both the\nFear of Man, and the Fear of Death. It\nbecomes a \u201cnumbers game.\u201dWe play the roulette wheel, hoping to cash in with the\nodds in our favor.
