During\nthe 2003-2004 political campaign\/election cycle I ran for the U.S. House of\nRepresentatives to represent Texas' 25th Congressional District. After losing\nthe Primary a sizeable number of people approached me who apologized for not\nhaving voted for me. These were bankers, lawyers, businessmen, church leaders\n-- you name it -- all of whom crossed over to vote on the Democratic ticket\nthinking that they would cast their vote for the weaker of the two Democratic\ncandidates and thereby alter the race dynamics in my favor.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Polling\nseemed to indicate to them that I had a fair lead against my Republican\nopponent, and they felt like I had the race in the bag. They felt safe in\ncrossing over so as to alter the outcome of the Democratic ticket. In fact,\ntheir crossover vote made virtually no difference in the outcome of the\nDemocratic Primary, whereas had they actually cast their vote for me my outcome\nwould have been very different.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

As\na result I published a political commentary consisting of a somewhat\nabbreviated version of today's Coffee Break. Because of what we are currently\nseeing take place in the ongoing Primaries around this nation I felt the\nimportance of once again expanding on that same commentary.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That\nsaid, pour yourself a good 16-ounce cup of that Double-Roast French, pull up a\nchair and let's discuss the current spiritual state of our political spectrum.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

One\nof the tragedies of modern society is the drive towards political correctness. Striving\nto be inoffensive to every segment of society and desiring to please everyone\nhas created a tyranny of the minorities. Despite the fact that mainstream<\/span><\/b> <\/span>America<\/span><\/b> <\/span>overwhelmingly\nprofesses to be Christian, the majority succumbs to the pressure of the\nminority.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Election\nafter election, people who privately hold mainstream, conservative, Christian\nvalues continue to vote for candidates who -- year after year -- peck away at,\nand incrementally erode the freedoms granted by our founding fathers in our\nUnited States Constitution.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Why\nis this? What is it that possesses people to compromise their values? How is it\nthat we can go behind the curtain in the voting booth, away from the prying\neyes of those who want to control the election outcomes, and vote contrary to\nwhat we know to be right?<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nanswer, plain and simple? Fear.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

There\nare three families of fear that infect and contaminate the human race: the Fear\nof Evil, the Fear of Man, and the Fear of Death. These three families of fear\noperate respectively in each of the domains of human existence.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nFear of Evil affects people at the level of their spirit. It manipulates the\nhearts of men and women to react in fear where anything spiritual is concerned.\nIt causes people to be in terror of God, substituting a healthy respect and\nreverential awe of God for an unhealthy terror. The Fear of Evil is the driving\nforce behind all religion and man-made efforts to please God. It substitutes a\nlove-relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ for a set of rules, regulations\nand laws that are performance driven.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nFear of Man works at the level of our human relationships. It works in the mind\nand soul of man, causing him to fear how others think of him or see him. In the\nsame way that the Fear of Evil is a liar, the Fear of Man is a liar, invoking\nimaginary scenarios of how we see ourselves through the eyes of our friends and\nsociety in general. The Fear of Man drives modern politics in a way that seems\nto escape a large segment of the voting public; and people seem to be oblivious\nto the fact that their voting choices are being manipulated by an evil spirit.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nFear of Death directly compromises us at the level of our flesh, our natural\nexistence. It causes us to fear the unknown, creating imaginary situations that\nthreaten our physical well being. With the modern push for a socialist society\nwhere Government becomes our source of supply, steals our trust and confidence\nin the Lord as our Source, and forces the nation into a "gimmee<\/span>, gimmee<\/span>" welfare\nmentality, the Fear of Death becomes an increasingly driving force in our\nelectoral choices because we fear having that money or those benefits being\ntaken away from us. The subconscious fear is that we will die or suffer\nphysically if we lose those things a "freebies" from the government.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

So,\nhow exactly do these fears affect the way we behave in the voting booth? Let\u2019s\nlook at a series of events that have unfolded over the past 50 \u2013 60 years.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

First,\nlet\u2019s define an increasing political polarity.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

For\nthe conservative, the Christian, the individual who believes in the essential\nliberties granted in our Constitution for life, liberty, and the pursuit of\nhappiness \u2013 or, to quote the Apostle Paul, \u201c\u2026.that we may lead a quiet and\npeaceable life in all Godliness and honesty,\u201d the objective is a candidate who\nwill promote and defend those liberties without taking any more from us than is\nabsolutely necessary to accomplish the goal. Unfortunately, conservatives \u2013 by\nvirtue of their very nature \u2013 tend to be passive and non confrontational.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nsecularist, humanist, socialist liberal believes that he or she is entitled to\nthose liberties at the expense of the state; that if the state lacks sufficient\nmoney to guarantee his or her \u201cright\u201d to have those liberties regardless of\ncost, it is perfectly acceptable \u2013 nay, mandatory \u2013 that the funds be extracted\nby whatever means necessary from those who have prospered by their labors. That\nmindset leads to a dependency upon the state. The state becomes the arbiter of\nall things, and the supplier of all needs. Personal responsibility diminishes\nas the state picks up more and more authority, and provides more and more\nservices.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In\nthe voting booth, the conservative \u2013 being more or less non confrontational \u2013\nadopts a compromising attitude if the individual running for office mostly<\/u>\nsupports the concept of smaller, less intrusive government, and stands for some<\/u>\nof the basic moral and spiritual values that epitomize conservatism. The fact\nthat the candidate might be 55% conservative and 45% socialist humanist is set\naside in fear.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That\nfear is not overpowering. It is not apparently or obviously driving the\nindividual. It is subversive, and subconscious. It is persuasive. It is seductive.And<\/span> it manipulates through either or both the\nFear of Man, and the Fear of Death. Compromise or not, the voter casts the\nballot for an individual who will ultimately chip away \u2013 ever so little, but\never so surely \u2013 some of the freedoms the voter currently enjoys.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

On\nthe other hand, the secularist, humanist, socialist fears a society that\ndemands responsibility. Responsibility portends the possibility of failure. Failure\nthreatens one\u2019s existence. Failure threatens one\u2019s \u201ccomfort zone.\u201dThe Fear of\nDeath becomes a driving force.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nsecular socialist has none of the peace that comes with a walk with Jesus\nChrist, nor the assurance that there will be a brighter day ahead by the help\nand provision of the Lord. A mandate develops, therefore, within the humanist\nto elect a candidate who will continue to ensure his or her livelihood no\nmatter how much it costs the state.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let\u2019s\ntake this to the next level.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Years\nof compromise \u2013 make that decades of compromise \u2013 have watered down the\nconservative stance of the Republican Party. Instead of standing for the\nprinciples that originally made up the GOP \u2013 principles that were rooted in\nsmaller, more efficient, less-intrusive government and Christian moral\nleadership \u2013 we have seen a willingness on the part of Republican leaders to\nincorporate those as candidates who accept \u201ca little socialism,\u201d or \u201ca little\u201d\nlarger, more intrusive government in order to have candidates that appeal to\nthe voting public.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

At\nthe same time, because of the similar compromises made within the Democratic\nParty -- compromises with communism and the socialist principles of Marx and\nLenin \u2013 the Democratic leadership has shifted to the far left of mainstream<\/span><\/b> <\/span>America.\nThe Democratic Party supposedly used to represent the interests of the working\nman, the common man, the ordinary, every-day individual. You\u2019d never know it\ntoday! The party leadership has moved towards a Robin Hood philosophy in order\nto provide \u201cgimme<\/span>\u201d programs that encourage poverty\nand stifle productivity.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In\na reaction almost wholly based in the fear of death, conservatives have\ncompromised their values even more, thinking that the compromises would stop\nthe march toward a completely socialist <\/span><\/b>v\n<\/span>America.\nIt is a fraud! It is a lie being perpetrated on conservatives and Christians.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Where\nonce candidates stepped forward on their own volition, inspired by genuine\nconcern and\/or spiritual motivation to stand up against the march towards socialism,\ntrepidation has taken over. Now, those who might normally present themselves as\navailable for public office avoid doing so because avarice, greed, the love of\nmoney \u2013 and the need for enormous sums of money in order to even enter the race\n\u2013 have taken over.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Republican\nParty leaders have frantically sought for candidates they\u2019ve calculated would\nbe \u201cviable\u201d against their Democratic counterparts. Formulas have been\ndevised.\u201cBean counting\u201d has taken place in an effort to figure out how to\nstrategically position candidates for a winning strategy.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Mathematical\nformulas and voter profiles have replaced integrity. Winning has become so\nimportant that leaders are willing to sacrifice conservative principles in\norder to elect candidates selected through compromise.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Between\nprofiling possible candidates and studying statistical patterns in districts,\nchoices are being made that eliminate candidates with true conviction and moral\nclarity. These are often candidates who can articulate clearly the conservative\nmessage in such a way as to convince undecided voters.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Business\nleaders who could and would financially support candidates that actually\nreflect their conservative values are discouraged from giving in order to\ndirect the \u201cavailable dollars\u201d to the candidates \u201cmost likely\u201d to win. It\nbecomes a \u201cnumbers game.\u201dWe play the roulette wheel, hoping to cash in with the\nodds in our favor. Worse, it becomes a game of Russian Roulette in which we\nhope the hammer falls on an empty chamber.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And\nit is all motivated and driven by The Fear of Evil, The Fear of Man, and The\nFear of Death.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Unless\nwe as a people return to our core values and stop playing these games of\ncompromise, THE HAMMER IS GOING TO FALL on a loaded chamber, and we will find\nourselves living in a socialist, secular humanist state, deprived of the\nessential liberties our Founding Fathers sought to guarantee this nation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In\n1781, Founding Father Samuel Adams made the following statement,<\/span><\/b> <\/span>"Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his\nvote that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual --\nor at least that he ought not so to do; but that he is executing one of the\nmost solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his\ncountry."<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It\nwas in 1881 that President James A. Garfield made the following\nobservation:"<\/span><\/b>Now\nmore than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their\nCongress. If that body be ignorant, reckless, and corrupt, it is because the\npeople tolerate ignorance, recklessness, and corruption. If it be intelligent,\nbrave, and pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities to\nrepresent them in the national legislature.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

See\nthe picture? Then come on, Folks! Let\u2019s wake up and get our act together!<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

"The\nSpirit of God is preparing leadership by releasing upon them the anointing that\nrested upon the sons of Issachar. They had understanding of the time and were\naware of what the people of God should be accomplishing (see 1 Chronicles\n12:32). <\/span>The Spirit of Truth is releasing\nrevelatory insights for all who are actively seeking to fully follow God<\/span><\/b> (see Jeremiah\n29:12-13).Let me stress again that the Kingdom of God will not be established\nby mere words or abilities of men, but by the Spirit of God (see 1 Corinthians\n4:20). This type of realistic confidence can only come from genuine union with\nChrist. <\/span>It is abiding in His manifested\npresence that results in our boldness<\/span><\/b> (see Proverbs 28:1)."<\/span> <\/span>(Bobby\nConnor)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n
