Barrow,\nAlaska is the farthest north inhabited place in North America and (to the best\nof my knowledge) either the farthest north or second farthest north\ncontinuously inhabited place in the world.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>It is a community\nwhere I spent 13 years of my life, both helping my father to build and\nestablish a church and subsequently pastoring<\/span> in the\ncommunity years later. It is a place where the sun never sets in the summer for\n86 days, and never rises in the winter for 66 days. With a summer temperature\naverage (as judged by the calendar and not the actual summer that takes place)\nof 39 degrees F, and a winter average temperature of -25 degrees F, Barrow\nisn\u2019t exactly the tropics. Nevertheless it does have a summer of about six\nweeks (sometimes longer) with temperatures in the 50\u2019s and 60\u2019s (and on rare\noccasions and high holidays, in the 70\u2019s).<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>As I\u2019ve already noted\nin these Coffee Breaks, Della and I are making preparation to return to the\narctic for ministry in Barrow, as well as in Wainwright, Point Hope, Nuiqsut<\/span>, Atkasuq<\/span>, Kaktovik<\/span> (on Barter Island), Kotzebue and Nome \u2013 just to\nname some of the coastal communities. Back in the late 1950\u2019s, my father took\nHoward Andersen, a Swedish Evangelist, with him and they traveled the arctic\ncoast of Alaska beginning at Kotzebue in a 16-foot open fiberglass boat,\nconducting evangelistic meetings in every village, community and summer\ncampsite all the way to Barter Island on the arctic Canadian border.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>That\u2019s an adventure\nstory worth retelling all by itself one of these days, but that\u2019s not where I\u2019m\ngoing today. What the Holy Spirit has put in our hearts is to revisit those\ncommunities and to build upon some spiritual foundations that are already laid.\nAt the same time, we have a television producer interested in accompanying us\nin our travels and working with us to produce a documentary that will tell the\nstory and share the testimonies of some of the folks who are still around whose\nlives had those spiritual foundations established.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>There was a\nremarkable outpouring of the Holy Spirit that took place across the arctic in\nthe 1950\u2019s and 1960\u2019s, and generations of families were impacted by that\noutpouring. In the spring of 1980 while in Barrow, the Lord showed me a new\nmove of His Spirit that would result in people literally falling on their faces\nin the streets crying out in repentance and turning to the Lord. Roughly 20\nyears later, Dwain McKenzie (a lifetime brother in the Lord and fellow pastor)\nwas ministering in Barrow and he called me on the phone (Della and I were in\nTexas at the time) to report that vision coming true as a reality.<\/span><\/p>\n


\n <\/span>Because of the day in\n which we live and the nearness of the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, we feel\n impelled to impart the urgency of the hour and to ensure that folks understand\n the necessity for the Bride of Christ to \u201cmake herself ready\u201d for His coming.<\/span><\/p>\n


\n <\/span>We are looking\n towards putting together \u2013 or more accurately, seeing the Lord put together --\n ministry teams to work with us in ministering in these communities scattered\n throughout the arctic and throughout the Aleutian chain. I\u2019m hoping to meet\n with a pilot in a couple of weeks who will fly us from village to village and\n town to town. When Jesus sent forth His disciples, He always sent them at least\n two by two. They never ministered by themselves. There was good reason for\n that.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>There is simply no\nsubstitute for the power of agreement. When you have brethren ministering\ntogether who are in harmony with each other, who know each other in the Spirit\nand not just after the flesh, and know how to operate with an ear to what the\nHoly Spirit is saying for any and every given situation, what you get are the\nsigns and wonders that Jesus promised.(See Mark 16:17)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>You\u2019ll remember what\nJesus said in Matthew 18:19:<\/span> <\/span>\u201cAgain I say unto you, That if two of you\nshall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done\nfor them of my Father which is in heaven.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>That word \u201cagree\u201d\ndoes not by any stretch of the imagination mean \u201cmental assent\u201d nor does it\nconvey the idea of being in agreement on some issue or another. The Greek word\nin the original text is<\/span> <\/span>sumphoneo<\/span><\/i><\/span> <\/span>\u2013\nthe same word which is the root of our English \u201csymphony.\u201dIn a musical sense,\nthis word draws a picture of intertwining notes, always being close to each\nother, always being in harmony, always flowing together. It denotes perfect\naccord, united objective and purpose, and the ability to always support the\nothers, flowing, functioning and completing as one.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>We have the perfect\npicture of<\/span> <\/span>sumphoneo<\/span><\/i><\/span> <\/span>in\nFather, Son and Holy Spirit \u2013 perfect harmony, perfect purpose, different\nfunctions and positions but always working as One.<\/span>
\n<\/span>THAT is what I\nbelieve God wants for us as we travel and minister in the villages and\ncommunities, and that is what we see the Lord putting together as team\nministry.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>Hmmmm<\/span><\/b><\/span>\u2026 I sort of got going\nthere in my introduction. Anyway, Greetings and Salutations! Grab yourself a\ngood cup of some French-Roasted coffee, have a donut or a roll and pull up a\nchair. Let\u2019s get back to Ezekiel.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>Guess I\u2019ve commented\non this fact before, but once again I still find it amazing when I think back\non my conversations to realize that I was being spoken with like an adult\ninstead of a nine- or ten-year-old. If that fact alone did anything for my\nunderstanding it was that in the realm of the Spirit, there is no such thing as\n\u201cage.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>In Heaven, I was not\nnine or ten years old. This was something that \u2013 while it was as tangible as\nanything I could see, hear, taste, touch or smell in the flesh \u2013 was taking\nplace in the eternal dimension: the Spirit!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>You\u2019ll recall the scriptures\nI quoted in earlier posts such as the one where the Lord speaks to Jeremiah and\nsays,<\/span> <\/span>\u201cBefore I formed you in the belly, I knew you; and before you\ncame forth out of the womb, I sanctified (or set you apart) you and ordained\nyou to be a prophet unto the nations.\u201d<\/span><\/i>(Jeremiah 1:5)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>Then there was the\nrevelation that came to David.<\/span>\u201cYour eyes saw my unformed substance, and in Your book all the\ndays of my life were written, before ever they took shape, when as yet there\nwas none of them.\u201d<\/span><\/i>(Psalm\n139:16)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>Thus, when I was\nborn, the Lord already knew me and had already placed His call and His\nordination into my DNA.I had pre-existed with the Lord in Heaven, just as all\nof us had. So you\u2019ll excuse me if I tell you that my 69 years here on Earth are\na fraction of my existence in the realm of the Spirit. When Ezekiel (and all\nthe others) carried on their conversations with me, therefore, they were\nconversing with someone whose spirit knew no time and was far older than 9 or\n10 years. That revelation still really grips me periodically!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>Even so, when Ezekiel\nwas sharing (as noted in the previous post) about things that were going to\nunfold in my life and warning me not to become reactionary but to hold things\nsteady, he was speaking to me as one who would return to this time-space-based\nexistence out of eternity and have to function throughout the years in time as\na representative and voice of the Lord.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>This brought our\nconversation to something I had seen in the 33rd<\/sup> chapter of Ezekiel.\nGod was speaking to him and saying,<\/span>\n<\/span>\u201cAlso, thou son of\nman, the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walls and\nin the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother,\nsaying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the\nLORD. And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as\nmy people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their\nmouth they show much love, but their heart goeth<\/span>\nafter their covetousness. And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of\none that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they\nhear thy words, but they do them not. And when this cometh to pass, (lo, it\nwill come,) then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them.\u201d<\/span><\/i>(Ezekiel 33:30-33)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>\u201cWould I be right in\nthinking,\u201d I asked, \u201cthat the Lord was identifying you in the same manner as\none of sons of Asaph<\/span>, Heman<\/span>\nor Jeduthun<\/span> whom David appointed to prophesy\nmusically with their instruments?\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>\u201cYou would be\nabsolutely correct,\u201d Ezekiel answered.\u201cAlthough the Scriptures do not dwell on\nthis point \u2013 and it probably was not necessary \u2013 my family was Levitical.Asaph<\/span>, Heman<\/span> and Jeduthun<\/span> were all Levites. When you follow their lineage\nthroughout the Word, you find those families always involved in prophetic\nministry, and always a part of what God was saying to His people. Their\nheritage was my heritage. Invariably, they would sing the Word and play\nskillfully on their instruments. That anointing made the message they were sent\nto deliver something that would remain in the minds and spirits of the hearers.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>\u201cGod\u2019s Word \u2013 all by\nitself \u2013 has an eternal staying power to it, but setting that Word to the music\nthat His Spirit would cause to rise up made it stick in the memories of those\nwho would hear it. The melody that went with that Word would continually\nrehearse in the minds and spirits of people and cause the Word of the Lord to\ncome back over and over and over. The music gave it a declarative force that\npeople just couldn\u2019t evade.\u201d<\/span>
\n<\/span>Ezekiel paused for a\nmoment in his narrative before becoming more personal.<\/span><\/p>\n


\n <\/span>\u201cMy father, like his\n father before him, and his father before him throughout the generations, was\n both priest and prophet. He was part of the same thread of singing prophets\n woven throughout our Levitical<\/span> heritage beginning\n with Asaph<\/span>, Heman<\/span> and Jeduthun<\/span>. My father\u2019s name was Buzi<\/span>.\n In Hebrew that means \u201cto scorn\u201d or \u201cto be despised.\u201dHis name all by itself was\n a prophetic picture. It was a picture of the state to which Israel had fallen. He\n was scorned in the same way that Israel and Judah scorned the Law. They scorned\n and despised the Word of the Lord, and they ridiculed and made light of our\n acts as priests in the offering of burnt sacrifices for sin.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>\u201cGrowing up in that\nenvironment where I saw what my father endured somewhat prepared me for the\nrole God called me to. I knew the power that could be exercised with music. I\nknew that the Word could be made extremely effective if it was sung or played\non an instrument. It was an easy resolution in my youth, therefore, to apply\nmyself to learning to play various instruments.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>\u201cIn his day, David\ndeveloped what we called the \u201cpsaltery\u201d \u2013 an early predecessor to the guitar\nyou now play. It became my favorite instrument to play and I practiced until my\nfingers were so sore they could hardly stand to touch the strings. But I stayed\nwith it. Throughout the years, I became skilled at the psaltery and harp so\nthat I could pick one of them up, close my eyes, and just get lost in the\nreverie of the presence of the Lord.<\/span><\/p>\n


\n <\/span>\u201cAs the prophetic\n ministry began to unfold that God called me to and His Word began to flood my\n being, it became a cry in my spirit. I literally felt His disappointment at\n Israel\u2019s backslidings. That cry began to come out of me in songs of tender love\n and mercy as the Spirit of God yearned for His people\u2019s repentance and return\n to Him.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>\u201cJeremiah and I\nprophesied to Israel and Judah during much the same time. What Jeremiah\npreached and prophesied as declarations and decrees came out of me as songs. Although\nhe and I never actually appeared together in our declarations of the Word God\nwas speaking, it was always clear that we had been sent to Israel and Judah as\na prophetic team. We often spoke nearly the same prophetic utterances although\nwe never once compared notes with each other prior to prophesying.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>\u201cSometimes his\ndeclarations and decrees were \u2013 in my opinion at the time \u2013 the more explosive\nand impacting than those I was commanded to deliver. It seemed that because of\nmy nature and my ability and inclination to impart and convey the Word as a\nsong or as a psalm it lacked the dynamism of Jeremiah\u2019s delivery; and yet I\nknew that God was using my prophetic methodology and delivery to reinforce that\nsame Word to the people.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>Ezekiel paused in his\nsharing and I seized the moment to ask him the following:<\/span><\/p>\n


\n <\/span>\u201cAs you sang and\n played on your instruments delivering the Word of the Lord to the people, did\n you ever feel like it was the Lord who was doing the singing or playing? Did\n you ever have the sense that you were nothing more than the instrument He was\n playing?<\/span>
\n <\/span>\u201cMaybe I can put it\n like this. Did you ever have the sensation that you were hearing the words come\n out of your mouth but it wasn\u2019t you actually speaking? Did you ever feel that\n when you plucked the strings of your psaltery or harp that you were watching\n your fingers perform in a way you knew you couldn\u2019t \u2013 that the music coming\n forth was being supernaturally created? There! That\u2019s what I\u2019m trying to ask! Did\n you ever feel like your voice was His voice, or that your fingers or hands were\n His fingers or hands?\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>\u201cIn a word, Yes,\u201d he\nresponded.\u201cBut that response really doesn\u2019t do justice to what I saw, felt and\nheard. One of my contemporaries, along with Jeremiah, was a young prophet by\nthe name of Zephaniah. He gave forth a short but powerful Word that I think\nexpresses it better than any other way. After uttering an edict of woe, here\u2019s\nwhat Zephaniah prophesied:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>\u201cFor the Lord your\nGod [who is] in the midst of you is mighty; He will save, He will rescue, He\nwill avenge you and get the victory; after which He will rest in silent\nsatisfaction in what His love for you has done. Then He will shout over you\nwith songs of joy and exultation!\u201d(See Zephaniah 3:17 \u2013 expanded)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>\u201cWhen Zephaniah let\nloose with that Word, I honestly could hardly contain myself! He was describing\nand declaring that the Lord Himself was singing! I knew he had captured the\nessence of what was happening inside my being when I almost felt like an\nonlooker to what was happening \u2013 even though it was my voice speaking and my\nfingers strumming and plucking the strings. He was confirming for me what was\nhappening as I sang the prophecies. Those times when I had the 3rd<\/sup>\nperson onlooker sensation were real! It WAS the Lord singing and playing\nthrough me and He Himself was crying out to His people.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>Now Ezekiel had me\ngoing! I couldn\u2019t resist the next question.<\/span>
\n<\/span>\u201cWhat I don\u2019t\nunderstand is, if the Lord Himself was doing the singing or the playing, and He\nwas pleading with Israel, why didn\u2019t they listen and pay attention? It\u2019s hard for\nme to imagine that anyone could actually resist the direct voice of the Lord\nlike that!\u201d<\/span> <\/span>His answer was\ninstantaneous.\u201cLet me take you back to the Word that the Lord spoke to me, even\nin the midst of my singing and prophesying. Remember this?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>\u2018As for you, son of\nman, your people who talk of you by the walls and in the doors of the houses,\nsay one to another, every one to his brother, Come and hear what the Word is\nthat comes forth from the Lord. And they come to you as people come, and they\nsit before you as My people, and they hear the words you say, but they will not\ndo them; for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goes after\nand is set on their idolatrous greed for gain.<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>\u201cLo, you are to them\nas a very lovely love song of one who has a pleasant voice and can play well on\nan instrument, for they hear your words but do not do them. When this comes to\npass \u2013 for lo, it will come! \u2013 then shall they know, understand and realize\nthat a prophet has been among them.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>\u201cNow you understand,\ndon\u2019t you? The people had shut their hearts off to receive the truth! They\nlistened to the words coming forth, but they heard it as music, as\nentertainment to please their ears and their souls \u2013 NOT as the Word of the\nLord. Never mind the fact that they came to listen supposedly to hear what the\nLord was speaking, it didn\u2019t fit with their mindset, their personal agenda; and\nso they ignored it!\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>Ezekiel finished his\nconversation with me like this:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>\u201cYour next\nconversation is with Daniel and he will add to what I\u2019m about to tell you. You\nmay not remember these words and they may disappear from your conscious memory\nfor many years, but the Spirit of the Lord will bring them back to you at the\nappropriate time. The cry of the Lord in your being has been birthed, but it\nhas yet to come to maturity. In the years to come, you too will begin to\nprophesy with instruments and declare the Word of the Lord to another\ngeneration.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>\u201cYou too will\nexperience the frustration of people not paying attention or heeding the Word\nof the Lord and you will cry out for answers. The Spirit of the Lord will bring\nyou back to the same Word that He spoke to me about folks hearing you sing and\nplay and considering you a fine musician, but they will not hear the words that\ncome out of your mouth until they actually begin to see them come to pass.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>He was right! I\ncompletely forgot this Word and put it out of my mind until the Holy Spirit\nbrought it back to me at age 33 when I was ministering at Long Beach Christian\nCenter. The Lord reminded me of that Word during a period of extended fasting\nand prayer and crying out to the Lord for answers. It was during that same time\nframe when the Holy Spirit brought back Jeremiah\u2019s instruction to me and the\nprophetic Word God had used him to implant in my spirit.<\/span><\/p>\n


\n <\/span>Next: HEAVEN XV:\n Daniel.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n


\n<\/span>A paradigm shift is taking place in\nthe body of Christ. The Holy Spirit has been preparing the Bride to show forth\nthe greater works that Jesus promised. We are in the midst of a huge\ntransition. That which God is about to reveal will shake and shatter the\nreligious foundations of the calcified church!<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n
