style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Garamond\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>A\nfew weeks ago, I shared with you the transition we\u2019ve been going through with\nour ministry and the fact that we have suspended our regular daily operation of\nRiver Worship Center in preparation for team ministry traveling throughout the\narctic.<\/span><\/b><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><br>\n<br>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Garamond\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Shortly thereafter, I\ntalked with Dwain McKenzie (who has been a lifelong friend and co-laborer in\nthe Gospel) who, with his wife Suzy, has moved back to Alaska and currently\nlives in <span class=SpellE>Glenallen<\/span>. Dwain said that he was going to\nBarrow to preach for a couple of weeks (the church there (<span class=SpellE>AofG<\/span>)\nhad just lost its pastor, and he would try to get a sense of what the Spirit of\nthe Lord was doing and saying on the arctic coast.<\/span><span\nstyle='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\"'><br>\n<br>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Garamond\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>I just talked with\nhim yesterday and it turns out there is good reason for the emphasis the Holy\nSpirit has been putting in Della and me to return to the north and minister in\nthe villages. Every single <span class=SpellE>AofG<\/span> church across the\nnorth coast \u2013 Point Hope, Wainwright, Barrow, <span class=SpellE>Nuiqsut<\/span>\nand <span class=SpellE>Kaktovik<\/span> on Barter Island \u2013 are without pastors. Not\nonly that, both of the Presbyterian churches in Wainwright and Barrow have lost\ntheir pastors. An old friend of ours who was the Presbyterian pastor in Barrow\nback in the 1960\u2019s \u2013 John Chambers \u2013 has returned to Barrow to preach on an\ninterim basis, but as he indicated, \u201cthis is strictly temporary until we can\nfind someone permanent to take this church.\u201d<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;\nfont-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><br>\n<br>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Garamond\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>What has happened is\nthat (and I don\u2019t want to point fingers here judgmentally) people who should be\ntrue shepherds and remain with their people until other shepherds can take over\nthe responsibility have simply walked away from their pastorates like\n\u201chirelings\u201d would.<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><br>\n<br>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Garamond\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Ezekiel had a strong\nWord from the Lord concerning this.<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;\nfont-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";color:#003300'>\u201c<i>And they were\nscattered, because there is no shepherd: and they became meat to all the beasts\nof the field, when they were scattered. My sheep wandered through all the\nmountains, and upon every high hill: yea, my flock was scattered upon all the\nface of the earth, and none did search or seek after them.<\/i><\/span><span\nstyle='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\"'><br>\n<br>\n<\/span><i><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";color:#003300'>\u201cTherefore, ye\nshepherds, hear the word of the LORD; As I live, <span class=SpellE>saith<\/span>\nthe Lord GOD, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became meat\nto every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, neither did my\nshepherds search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my\nflock; therefore, O ye shepherds, hear the word of the LORD;<\/span><\/i><span\nstyle='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\"'><br>\n<br>\n<\/span><i><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";color:#003300'>\u201cThus <span\nclass=SpellE>saith<\/span> the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against the shepherds; and\nI will require my flock at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the\nflock; neither shall the shepherds feed themselves anymore; for I will deliver\nmy flock from their mouth, that they may not be meat for them.<\/span><\/i><span\nstyle='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\"'><br>\n<br>\n<\/span><i><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\";color:#003300'>\u201cFor thus <span\nclass=SpellE>saith<\/span> the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, will both search my\nsheep, and seek them out. As a shepherd <span class=SpellE>seeketh<\/span> out\nhis flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I\nseek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been\nscattered in the cloudy and dark day.\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style='font-size:12.0pt;\nfont-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Garamond\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>(Ezekiel 34:5-12)<\/span><span\nstyle='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\"'><br>\n<br>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Garamond\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Pretty strong, isn\u2019t\nit? Della and I both understand why also the Holy Spirit has made clear to us\nthat we will take on this ministry throughout these communities at our own\nexpense. That\u2019s to say, the Lord will make provision for this ministry \u2013 this\nteam ministry \u2013 without any need for us to \u201ctake up offerings\u201d in the villages\nin order to travel and teach, preach and prophesy the spiritual health these\nfolks need.<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><br>\n<br>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Garamond\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>It is the Lord Jesus\nChrist who will direct the gathering. He is, after all, the Chief Shepherd! It\nis the Holy Spirit who will deliver the people from all the places where they\nhave been scattered. It is His calling and His responsibility that He is\nimplanting in us in order to <i><span style='color:#003300'>\u201cheal the hurt of\nthe daughter of My people.\u201d<\/span><\/i>(Jeremiah 8:11)<\/span><span\nstyle='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\"'><br>\n<br>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Garamond\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Now, let\u2019s get on\nwith today\u2019s sharing. Oh\u2026and by the way\u2026better get your cup of java poured <span\nclass=SpellE>if\u2019n<\/span> you haven\u2019t already.<\/span><span style='font-size:\n12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><br>\n<br>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Garamond\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>When I wrote about\nDavid in this series, I commented that he perhaps more than any other Biblical\ncharacter has had an impact on my life. The things he shared, the Psalms he\npenned, and the life of praise and worship he led have been a part of my\nthought processes and unfolding revelation in my spirit for nearly sixty years\nas of this writing.<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><br>\n<br>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Garamond\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>As a young boy,\nhowever, my experiences with angelic appearances and that first appearance of\nthe Lord Jesus Christ in my bedroom at age seven prompted my mother to take me\nto the events surrounding the calling of the prophet Samuel as a youngster as\nit is described in Scripture. Mom had a way of sharing events and stories from\nthe Bible so that you were almost a participant in those Biblical events. She\nhad a flair for the dramatic and loved to dramatize Bible stories so that my\nbrother and I \u2013 and all the kids she taught in Sunday School \u2013 were immersed in\nthe events by her story-telling. Mom realized that the Lord was dealing with me\nand revealing Himself to me in a way that \u2013 in many respects \u2013 paralleled that\nof Samuel.<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><br>\n<br>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Garamond\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>That said, I was\nanxious to talk to Samuel in person when the Lord gave me the opportunity to\nmeet and talk to anyone I desired during that first trip to Heaven. The fact\nthat the Lord first called him in his early youth made him someone I could\neasily relate to, and I wanted to hear him talk about what he experienced.<\/span><span\nstyle='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\"'><br>\n<br>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Garamond\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Samuel was another\none of those folks I had a mental image of as an aged prophet. It was easy to\nsee him as an eight-year-old with Eli, the High Priest, and I could envision\nhim much later in life as the old bearded prophet and mentor of David. What I\nsaw in fact was very much like everyone else \u2013 a young-looking, but mature man\nwho was hale and hearty, filled with vim, vigor and vitality. Seeing Samuel was\none more reminder that folks don\u2019t age in the presence of the Lord. In fact,\nage is totally irrelevant since we as spiritual beings are eternal, made in the\nimage and likeness of the Lord God. There is nothing about Jesus that is old,\nand despite the fact that Father God is described as \u201cthe Ancient of Days\u201d He\nsimply does not age in any way.<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><br>\n<br>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Garamond\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>My first question to\nSamuel related to his age when he first heard the voice of God.\u201cHow old were\nyou when you first heard the Lord call your name?\u201d<\/span><span\nstyle='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\"'><br>\n<br>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Garamond\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>He smiled as he\nresponded, \u201cNot that far off from where you are now \u2013 and perhaps closer to\nyour age when the Lord Jesus first appeared at your bedside to call you. I was\neight years of age. Unlike your experience, however, visions, dreams and\nangelic visitations had become a rarity in Israel. Though the priesthood should\nhave been regularly experiencing communication with God because of entering\ninto the Holy of Holies once a year, it had been generations since there had\nbeen a High Priest who really reverenced the Lord, or had any real perception\nof what it meant to fear the Lord and His Holiness.<\/span><span\nstyle='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\"'><br>\n<br>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Garamond\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>\u201cEli had received the\nWord of the Lord concerning his lack of respect for the sacrifices and the way\nin which he permitted his two sons to continue as priests despite their utter\ndisregard for the Lord as well as their perverse behavior and contamination of\nthe sacrifices \u2013 and he did nothing to stop them. But he had never personally\nreceived angelic visitations; and he had never personally heard the Lord. For\nthat matter, neither had any of his recent predecessor High Priests. There\nsimply was no open vision of the Lord or of the Heavenly realm in those days. We\nhad no visible manifestation of the presence or power of God in the way that\nMoses and Joshua had experienced.<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;\nfont-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><br>\n<br>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Garamond\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>\u201cAll of Israel knew \u2013\nI knew \u2013 that we were a people who were supposed to be chosen by God. I knew\nthat we had priests who were supposed to represent us before God, but I\u2019d never\nseen any demonstration of Him that I was aware of, and I\u2019d certainly never\nheard of anyone hearing or talking to God in any recent times. When the voice\nof God first spoke in my hearing, it was different from Eli\u2019s voice and yet I\nthought instinctively that it had to be Eli calling me from another room. I had\nno expectation of God talking to me. After all, I was a young boy! Who was I\nthat He would talk to me?!\u201d<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><br>\n<br>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Garamond\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>This was different. In\nmy conversation with Abraham earlier, he had said, \u201cOnce you\u2019ve heard the voice\nof God, there is no other,\u201d meaning of course that His voice is distinctively\ndifferent from all human voices. That begged the following question from me.<\/span><span\nstyle='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\"'><br>\n<br>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Garamond\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>\u201cHow would you have <b><i>not<\/i><\/b>\nknown instantly that this was the Lord speaking?\u201d I asked.\u201cSurely you would have\nknown in your inner self that it <b><i>was<\/i><\/b> God!\u201d<\/span><span\nstyle='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\"'><br>\n<br>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Garamond\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>My question came from\nmy own reference point, of course. I\u2019d had three years of non-stop visitations\nfrom angels, followed by the appearance of the Lord Jesus Christ at my bedside.\nHis voice was filled with an indescribable peace and presence I don\u2019t to this\nday know how to adequately put into words. No one would ever be able to tell me\nI hadn\u2019t heard or seen Him, and no one would ever be able to sell me on a Him\nbeing a false Christ or demonic apparition. In the years since that event I <b><i>have<\/i><\/b>\nseen demonic spirits visibly and I can promise you that there is no peace or\npresence of the Lord that accompanies them.<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;\nfont-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><br>\n<br>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Garamond\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Samuel answered me,\n\u201cThinking back, I did know the difference but as I said, there had never been\nany reference point for the voice of the Lord to me. I just didn\u2019t know Him yet\nand He had never revealed Himself to me up to this time. My reactions were\nbased in my own reasoning. It <b><i>had<\/i><\/b> to be Eli calling me. The two sons of Eli were killed in the ensuing battle and Eli\nfell over and broke his neck, dying instantly when he heard the news. Though\nEli had in many ways mentored me for more than 21 years, it was the continual\nand growing relationship with Father God throughout those years that prepared\nme. It was His voice that released me. With Eli\u2019s death, I now had a\nsolemn responsibility before Israel to act on their behalf towards God and\nplead Israel\u2019s case. Israel\u2019s elders had decided they didn\u2019t want to be\ndifferent from the other nations in having a High Priest and Prophet to judge\nthem. Rather they wanted to have a king so they would look like the other\nnations surrounding them. I warned the elders that this would be a huge\nmistake, but they wouldn\u2019t listen. So the Lord picked someone out of their\nmidst who would look like a king in their eyes and in the eyes of the\nsurrounding nations.<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",\"serif\";\nmso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><br>\n<br>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\"Garamond\",\"serif\";mso-fareast-font-family:\n\"Times New Roman\";mso-bidi-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>\u201cWhen I first poured\nthe vial of oil on Saul, you\u2019d have thought he had become a prophet like me. The\nimpact of that anointing caused an impartation of the Spirit of God to Saul and\nwhen he came in contact with a company of prophets he began to prophesy as\nthough he\u2019d set apart as God\u2019s spokesman to the nation. What\nwould make him think he could get away with offering sacrifices in your place? David\u2019s salvation was his intense desire to please God and to\nfulfill His heart\u2019s desire. David\u2019s salvation was the fact that he truly knew\nhow to repent.
