Greetings!<\/span><\/b>

\n<\/span>A\nfew weeks ago, I shared with you the transition we\u2019ve been going through with\nour ministry and the fact that we have suspended our regular daily operation of\nRiver Worship Center in preparation for team ministry traveling throughout the\narctic.<\/span><\/b>
\n
\n<\/span>Shortly thereafter, I\ntalked with Dwain McKenzie (who has been a lifelong friend and co-laborer in\nthe Gospel) who, with his wife Suzy, has moved back to Alaska and currently\nlives in Glenallen<\/span>. Dwain said that he was going to\nBarrow to preach for a couple of weeks (the church there (AofG<\/span>)\nhad just lost its pastor, and he would try to get a sense of what the Spirit of\nthe Lord was doing and saying on the arctic coast.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>I just talked with\nhim yesterday and it turns out there is good reason for the emphasis the Holy\nSpirit has been putting in Della and me to return to the north and minister in\nthe villages. Every single AofG<\/span> church across the\nnorth coast \u2013 Point Hope, Wainwright, Barrow, Nuiqsut<\/span>\nand Kaktovik<\/span> on Barter Island \u2013 are without pastors. Not\nonly that, both of the Presbyterian churches in Wainwright and Barrow have lost\ntheir pastors. An old friend of ours who was the Presbyterian pastor in Barrow\nback in the 1960\u2019s \u2013 John Chambers \u2013 has returned to Barrow to preach on an\ninterim basis, but as he indicated, \u201cthis is strictly temporary until we can\nfind someone permanent to take this church.\u201d<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>What has happened is\nthat (and I don\u2019t want to point fingers here judgmentally) people who should be\ntrue shepherds and remain with their people until other shepherds can take over\nthe responsibility have simply walked away from their pastorates like\n\u201chirelings\u201d would.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>Ezekiel had a strong\nWord from the Lord concerning this.<\/span>\n<\/span>\u201cAnd they were\nscattered, because there is no shepherd: and they became meat to all the beasts\nof the field, when they were scattered. My sheep wandered through all the\nmountains, and upon every high hill: yea, my flock was scattered upon all the\nface of the earth, and none did search or seek after them.<\/i><\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>\u201cTherefore, ye\nshepherds, hear the word of the LORD; As I live, saith<\/span>\nthe Lord GOD, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became meat\nto every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, neither did my\nshepherds search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my\nflock; therefore, O ye shepherds, hear the word of the LORD;<\/span><\/i>
\n
\n<\/span>\u201cThus saith<\/span> the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against the shepherds; and\nI will require my flock at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the\nflock; neither shall the shepherds feed themselves anymore; for I will deliver\nmy flock from their mouth, that they may not be meat for them.<\/span><\/i>
\n
\n<\/span>\u201cFor thus saith<\/span> the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, will both search my\nsheep, and seek them out. As a shepherd seeketh<\/span> out\nhis flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I\nseek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been\nscattered in the cloudy and dark day.\u201d<\/span><\/i>\n<\/span>(Ezekiel 34:5-12)<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>Pretty strong, isn\u2019t\nit? Della and I both understand why also the Holy Spirit has made clear to us\nthat we will take on this ministry throughout these communities at our own\nexpense. That\u2019s to say, the Lord will make provision for this ministry \u2013 this\nteam ministry \u2013 without any need for us to \u201ctake up offerings\u201d in the villages\nin order to travel and teach, preach and prophesy the spiritual health these\nfolks need.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>It is the Lord Jesus\nChrist who will direct the gathering. He is, after all, the Chief Shepherd! It\nis the Holy Spirit who will deliver the people from all the places where they\nhave been scattered. It is His calling and His responsibility that He is\nimplanting in us in order to \u201cheal the hurt of\nthe daughter of My people.\u201d<\/span><\/i>(Jeremiah 8:11)<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>Now, let\u2019s get on\nwith today\u2019s sharing. Oh\u2026and by the way\u2026better get your cup of java poured if\u2019n<\/span> you haven\u2019t already.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>When I wrote about\nDavid in this series, I commented that he perhaps more than any other Biblical\ncharacter has had an impact on my life. The things he shared, the Psalms he\npenned, and the life of praise and worship he led have been a part of my\nthought processes and unfolding revelation in my spirit for nearly sixty years\nas of this writing.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>As a young boy,\nhowever, my experiences with angelic appearances and that first appearance of\nthe Lord Jesus Christ in my bedroom at age seven prompted my mother to take me\nto the events surrounding the calling of the prophet Samuel as a youngster as\nit is described in Scripture. Mom had a way of sharing events and stories from\nthe Bible so that you were almost a participant in those Biblical events. She\nhad a flair for the dramatic and loved to dramatize Bible stories so that my\nbrother and I \u2013 and all the kids she taught in Sunday School \u2013 were immersed in\nthe events by her story-telling. Mom realized that the Lord was dealing with me\nand revealing Himself to me in a way that \u2013 in many respects \u2013 paralleled that\nof Samuel.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>That said, I was\nanxious to talk to Samuel in person when the Lord gave me the opportunity to\nmeet and talk to anyone I desired during that first trip to Heaven. The fact\nthat the Lord first called him in his early youth made him someone I could\neasily relate to, and I wanted to hear him talk about what he experienced.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>Samuel was another\none of those folks I had a mental image of as an aged prophet. It was easy to\nsee him as an eight-year-old with Eli, the High Priest, and I could envision\nhim much later in life as the old bearded prophet and mentor of David. What I\nsaw in fact was very much like everyone else \u2013 a young-looking, but mature man\nwho was hale and hearty, filled with vim, vigor and vitality. Seeing Samuel was\none more reminder that folks don\u2019t age in the presence of the Lord. In fact,\nage is totally irrelevant since we as spiritual beings are eternal, made in the\nimage and likeness of the Lord God. There is nothing about Jesus that is old,\nand despite the fact that Father God is described as \u201cthe Ancient of Days\u201d He\nsimply does not age in any way.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>My first question to\nSamuel related to his age when he first heard the voice of God.\u201cHow old were\nyou when you first heard the Lord call your name?\u201d<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>He smiled as he\nresponded, \u201cNot that far off from where you are now \u2013 and perhaps closer to\nyour age when the Lord Jesus first appeared at your bedside to call you. I was\neight years of age. Unlike your experience, however, visions, dreams and\nangelic visitations had become a rarity in Israel. Though the priesthood should\nhave been regularly experiencing communication with God because of entering\ninto the Holy of Holies once a year, it had been generations since there had\nbeen a High Priest who really reverenced the Lord, or had any real perception\nof what it meant to fear the Lord and His Holiness.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>\u201cEli had received the\nWord of the Lord concerning his lack of respect for the sacrifices and the way\nin which he permitted his two sons to continue as priests despite their utter\ndisregard for the Lord as well as their perverse behavior and contamination of\nthe sacrifices \u2013 and he did nothing to stop them. But he had never personally\nreceived angelic visitations; and he had never personally heard the Lord. For\nthat matter, neither had any of his recent predecessor High Priests. There\nsimply was no open vision of the Lord or of the Heavenly realm in those days. We\nhad no visible manifestation of the presence or power of God in the way that\nMoses and Joshua had experienced.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>\u201cAll of Israel knew \u2013\nI knew \u2013 that we were a people who were supposed to be chosen by God. I knew\nthat we had priests who were supposed to represent us before God, but I\u2019d never\nseen any demonstration of Him that I was aware of, and I\u2019d certainly never\nheard of anyone hearing or talking to God in any recent times. When the voice\nof God first spoke in my hearing, it was different from Eli\u2019s voice and yet I\nthought instinctively that it had to be Eli calling me from another room. I had\nno expectation of God talking to me. After all, I was a young boy! Who was I\nthat He would talk to me?!\u201d<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>This was different. In\nmy conversation with Abraham earlier, he had said, \u201cOnce you\u2019ve heard the voice\nof God, there is no other,\u201d meaning of course that His voice is distinctively\ndifferent from all human voices. That begged the following question from me.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>\u201cHow would you have not<\/i><\/b>\nknown instantly that this was the Lord speaking?\u201d I asked.\u201cSurely you would have\nknown in your inner self that it was<\/i><\/b> God!\u201d<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>My question came from\nmy own reference point, of course. I\u2019d had three years of non-stop visitations\nfrom angels, followed by the appearance of the Lord Jesus Christ at my bedside.\nHis voice was filled with an indescribable peace and presence I don\u2019t to this\nday know how to adequately put into words. No one would ever be able to tell me\nI hadn\u2019t heard or seen Him, and no one would ever be able to sell me on a Him\nbeing a false Christ or demonic apparition. In the years since that event I have<\/i><\/b>\nseen demonic spirits visibly and I can promise you that there is no peace or\npresence of the Lord that accompanies them.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>Samuel answered me,\n\u201cThinking back, I did know the difference but as I said, there had never been\nany reference point for the voice of the Lord to me. I just didn\u2019t know Him yet\nand He had never revealed Himself to me up to this time. My reactions were\nbased in my own reasoning. It had<\/i><\/b> to be Eli calling me. Who else\nwould it be?<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>\u201cNot until it had\nhappened three times and Eli instructed me to say, \u2018Speak Lord, for thy servant\nheareth<\/span>,\u2019 did it actually register that this was\ntruly the voice of God. Then when the Lord spoke to me and told me what He was\ngoing to do to Eli and his household, the last thing I wanted to do was to\nshare any of it with Eli.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>\u201cEli\u2019s\nacknowledgement and acceptance of that Word of judgment sealed in me the\nrealization that God had indeed talked to me and that the Word was<\/i><\/b>\ngoing to be fulfilled. I never had to guess again as to whether it was the Lord\nspeaking. I knew<\/i><\/b>! In the months and years that followed, He spoke\nto me on numerous occasions \u2013 and each time He spoke I received more revelation\nof Who He is. There was a distinct impartation and revelation that came with\nHis voice and an inner knowing that He would fulfill everything He spoke to\nme.\u201d<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>Everything Samuel was\nspeaking confirmed my own personal experiences with the Lord up to this time. I\ncould easily recall the pictures \u2013 the visions, if you will \u2013 of the Jews being\nable to return to their homeland as Israel was once again declared a nation. Those\npictures had been engraved in the back of my mind, and not too many months\nthereafter I saw a copy of Life Magazine with photographs of the very same\nthing. The Lord had said to me during that first visitation that Israel was\nbeing restored as a nation, and now I had seen the photographic proof exactly\nas He had implanted the visions. The Word of the Lord had been confirmed to me\nin the same way that He had confirmed His Word to Samuel.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>\u201cOne more question\nbefore I change the topic,\u201d I said.\u201cHow many years went by before God\u2019s\njudgment fell on Eli and his house? When did you become the High Priest in\nIsrael?\u201d<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>\u201cThere is one thing\nyou ought to keep in mind,\u201d Samuel answered.\u201cThis will help you in the years to\ncome in understanding that God has a specific timing in the way He does things.\nHe\u2019s not in a hurry, and He is never late. There is a mathematical order to Him\nand numbers with God have great spiritual significance. Because of that there\nis a principle of maturity and responsibility.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>\u201cWithin the life of\nIsrael as a people, when a young man is first released into his years of\ntraining and preparation by his father to assume the family name and\nresponsibility, he is usually about twelve years of age. There have always been\na few exceptions \u2013 me being one of those exceptions \u2013 where the training begins\nearlier. That period of training usually lasts about seventeen years, give or\ntake a couple depending on the responsiveness of the young man.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>\u201cUsually by the age\nof 30 the father calls friends and family together and there is a public\nceremony or pronouncement that the son has accomplished his years of\npreparation and is now taking on the responsibility of the father\u2019s business. The\nson now has the authority to speak and act in his father\u2019s name; and everything\nhe does from now on carries the weight of his father\u2019s character and integrity\n\u2013 his name and his rank.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>\u201cThat tradition has\ncome out of the way God has dealt with His people. Isaac was nearing 30 years\nof age when Abraham was instructed to offer him up as a sacrifice to the Lord. If\nyou remember your Scriptures, Jesus was about 30 years of age when Father God\nplaced His stamp of approval on Him and released Him to minister and to speak\nin Father\u2019s name and on His behalf.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>\u201cIn that same way, I\nwas about 30 years of age when the Philistines invaded Israel and took the Ark\nof the Covenant. The two sons of Eli were killed in the ensuing battle and Eli\nfell over and broke his neck, dying instantly when he heard the news. Though\nEli had in many ways mentored me for more than 21 years, it was the continual\nand growing relationship with Father God throughout those years that prepared\nme. It was His voice that released me. It was His voice in me and through me\nthat caused Israel to respond and accept me as God\u2019s spokesman to them.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>\u201cThe Word of the Lord\nwas holy to me. I reverenced Him and I reverenced His Word; and I wasn\u2019t about\nto allow anything He revealed to me go to waste. With Eli\u2019s death, I now had a\nsolemn responsibility before Israel to act on their behalf towards God and\nplead Israel\u2019s case. My relationship of trust with Him made it imperative that\nI do or say nothing to lose His trust, nor Israel\u2019s trust.\u201d<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>We now switched\ntopics as I asked him, \u201cWould you tell me about anointing both Saul and David\nto become King over Israel? What was so significant about pouring oil over\nthem? Why did that set them apart?\u201d<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>\u201cYou\u2019ll remember that\nGod instructed Moses to set Aaron and his sons apart from the rest of Israel\u2019s\nleadership. A specially prepared oil was poured upon them, and then rubbed on\nthem. It signified the anointing of the Spirit of God. The oil represented the\nHoly Spirit. The rubbing in meant that this was something more than \u201cskin\ndeep.\u201dIt was to saturate them in such a way that they became a separated people\nunto the Lord. The Lord would hear them when they interceded and offered up the\nsacrifices for the sins of the people because He had set them apart for that\npurpose.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>\u201cIn that same way I\nwas acting on behalf of the Lord to set Saul apart to become God\u2019s leader and\nking over the people. Israel\u2019s elders had decided they didn\u2019t want to be\ndifferent from the other nations in having a High Priest and Prophet to judge\nthem. Rather they wanted to have a king so they would look like the other\nnations surrounding them. I warned the elders that this would be a huge\nmistake, but they wouldn\u2019t listen. So the Lord picked someone out of their\nmidst who would look like a king in their eyes and in the eyes of the\nsurrounding nations.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>\u201cWhen I first poured\nthe vial of oil on Saul, you\u2019d have thought he had become a prophet like me. The\nimpact of that anointing caused an impartation of the Spirit of God to Saul and\nwhen he came in contact with a company of prophets he began to prophesy as\nthough he\u2019d set apart as God\u2019s spokesman to the nation. You\u2019ll remember that it\ndidn\u2019t take long for the people to accept him as their king.\u201d<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>\u201cI guess I don\u2019t\nunderstand why he rebelled against the Word of the Lord the way he did,\u201d I\nresponded.\u201cHow could someone with the anointing he had get so far out of line? What\nwould make him think he could get away with offering sacrifices in your place? Why,\nafter such exacting instructions from the Lord through you, would he save Agag<\/span>, the king of the Amalekites<\/span>,\nalive and keep the best of the sheep and oxen?\u201d<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>Samuel laughed.\u201cThe\nanointing is not a substitute for relationship,\u201d he said.\u201cThe anointing is an\nempowering that comes by the Spirit of God so that a person can accomplish\ntasks that would normally be beyond their capability. You are forgetting also\nwhat happened with Lucifer. Remember how Isaiah prophesied of him how he had\nbecome lifted up in his own eyes and thought he could take over the throne of\nGod? If Lucifer could fall like that, men can fall as well.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>\u201cEven David with his\nanointing, his heart after the Lord and the wonderful experiences he had in God\nmessed up. David\u2019s salvation was his intense desire to please God and to\nfulfill His heart\u2019s desire. David\u2019s salvation was the fact that he truly knew\nhow to repent. Saul wasn\u2019t the least bit sorry for what he had done; he was\nonly sorry that he got caught.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>\u201cDavid was a\ndifferent breed entirely. Israel never had another king like him. It wasn\u2019t\njust his anointing, either; it was his pursuit of the Lord and his desire to\nsee that Israel became a living picture of God\u2019s chosen people in the earth. David\nwanted to see that the Lord received the honor and Glory due Him.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>\u201cThe day I was\ninstructed to pour oil over David and anoint him to become King of Israel, when\nI saw him I knew the Lord had deliberately chosen him and that the timing in\nhis choosing was specific so that Israel \u2013 and the world around \u2013 would have a\nrevelation of the Lord God in a way that had never before taken place. Although\nI didn\u2019t get to see it in the natural, I certainly got to witness it through\nthe eyes of the Lord once I was here with Him.\u201d<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>That, my friends, is\nas far as I can take this discussion today. I\u2019ve run a bit long, but I\u2019m sure\nyou will appreciate the significance of the revelation that unfolded in this\nconversation.<\/span>
\n
