Good\nMorning, Good Morning, Good Morning!<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This is\nthe third in this series of discussions on the Keys of the Kingdom<\/span><\/b>.\nObviously we\u2019ve<\/span> <\/span>touched a nerve with some folks who\u2019ve\nbeen stuck with the man-made tradition of Peter being the One in whom Jesus\ninvested the Keys of the Kingdom, and that is a man-made doctrine which entered\nthe body of Christ many hundreds of years after Peter had long since gone to be\nwith the Lord. There is absolutely no record of this teaching during the early\ncenturies and the writings of the early apostolic fathers.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I\u2019m not trying to\nstart up a religious argument on this issue. Rather I\u2019m trying to demonstrate\nthat this authority and power has been given to each of us so that the Glory of\nthe Lord can be revealed.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

PROCEDURES REQUIRED\nBEFORE BINDING OR LOOSENING<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let\u2019s come back to the picture of\n\u201cbinding and loosening.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

If all efforts to bring peace and\nreconciliation fail, whether individually, with two or more other brothers or\nsisters in the Lord, or \u2014 finally \u2014 with the counsel and admonition of the\nwhole body of believers, THEN you exercise the power of binding and loosening.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Every effort has been made to see that\nthis individual\u2019s sins have been erased, forgiven, remitted. Yet they have\nclung fast and hung onto their sin with force and strength, refusing to hear or\nrespond to the truth \u2014 even in the mouths of many witnesses.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Now Jesus says,<\/span> <\/span>\u201cIf he refuses to hear\nthe body \u2014 the Ekklesia<\/span> \u2014 let him be as one who is a\nheathen (one totally outside the body of Christ) and a publican.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This term, \u201cpublican\u201d generally refers\nto a tax collector, but in this instance Jesus is using the term metaphorically\nto describe someone who only does or responds to circumstances according to the\nway it profits him and his pocketbook personally.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Now the events have unfolded to such an\nextent that Jesus says,<\/span> <\/span>\u201cWhatever you bind on earth shall be, having been bound in\nHeaven \u2014 and whatever you loose on earth shall be, having been loosed in\nHeaven.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Again, we put it like this:<\/span> <\/span>\u201cWhatever you lock up\nand restrain on earth [from having access to Heaven\u2019s resources] shall be\nbecause I have already predetermined that to be so in Heaven. By the same\ntoken, whatever you break up, loose [in terms of Heaven\u2019s resources], dissolve\n[barriers] or put off on earth shall be, having already been broken up, loosed,\ndissolved or put off in Heaven.\u201d<\/span><\/i>\n<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Are you seeing the picture?<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The Keys of the Kingdom are just that:\nkeys which function within and from the realm of the Spirit. They are placed\nwithin our use so that we can enforce the authority of the Kingdom on earth.\nThese keys \u2014 authority and power \u2014 lock and unlock Heaven\u2019s resources at\nFather\u2019s direction, and they have been made available to us through and by the\nLord Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We come back to the picture of God\u2019s\ncharacter, makeup, personality \u2014 the essence of Who He is: in other words, His<\/span> <\/span>Onoma<\/span><\/i><\/span>!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

AGAPE: THE AUTHORITY AND\nPOWER FOR USING THE KEYS OF THE KINGDOM<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

At River Worship Center we've gone\nthrough a study of the Seven Spirits of God and how they operate, but let me\nsum it up like this: the sum and substance of Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit is<\/span> <\/span>Agape<\/span><\/i>.<\/span> <\/span>Sometimes I struggle to use the word\n\u201clove\u201d in conjunction with this because our earthly concepts of love are so\ndistorted and misapplied.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Agape<\/span><\/i> <\/span>is\npurposed. It is deliberate. It has a goal and objective to have a family of\nGod-created, God-image and likeness beings who are interwoven in a relationship\nof intimacy, authority, power, grace, hope, and faith.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

When we use the word \u201clove\u201d in our\nsocietal realm and understanding, we can\u2019t mentally associate judgment,\ndiscipline and absolute penalty with our concept of love.<\/span> <\/span>Agape<\/span><\/i> <\/span>is the force behind Creation. It is the\nforce behind judgment. It is the authority and power behind the complete\nrejection of all who refuse and reject<\/u> the extended hand of love, mercy,\nforgiveness, remittance and cancellation of death, cancellation of the curse of\nthe Law, and the ultimate price that Jesus paid to secure His family.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I\u2019ll say that again:<\/span><\/span> <\/span>Agape<\/span><\/i> <\/span>is\nthe authority and power that enforces the rejection of all who refuse to\nacknowledge and receive the Lord Jesus Christ, His Lordship and authority in\ntheir lives.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Please don\u2019t take offense at the way\nI\u2019m phrasing this. It is deliberate. We have a very sloppy, man-made, humanistic\nconcept of \u201clove\u201d and we try to make<\/span>\n<\/span>agape<\/span><\/i> <\/span>fit within our framework of love. It\nsimply won\u2019t work.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The love of God \u2014<\/span> <\/span>agape<\/span><\/i> <\/span>\u2014 transcends all human understanding.\nIt doesn\u2019t work like human love. Neither does it get mushy and filled with\nhuman compassion when it comes to things like judgment, Hell, the Lake of Fire\nor eternal torment.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Human compassion \u2014 were it allowed to\nbecome the measure by which we understand<\/span>\n<\/span>agape<\/span><\/i> <\/span>\u2014 would contaminate the process, and\nthe Family of God would be filled with folks who simply<\/span> <\/span>aren\u2019t\nwilling to meet God\u2019s conditions on His terms.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I\u2019ve gotten somewhat sidetracked from\nwhat I started out to emphasize, so let me return to Paul\u2019s statement to the\nGalatians:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Galatians 5:6<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span><\/b> <\/span>For in Jesus Christ\nneither circumcision availeth<\/span> anything, nor uncircumcision<\/span>; but faith which worketh<\/span>\nby<\/u><\/span><\/i> <\/span>agape<\/span><\/u><\/i>.<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Understand? Let\u2019s wrap today\u2019s\ndiscussion with a sequential picture.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

God is<\/span>\n<\/span>agape<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Faith works by<\/span> <\/span>agape<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Without faith, we cannot please God.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Without faith, the Keys of the Kingdom\ncannot be used to lock or unlock Heaven\u2019s resources.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Without the use of the Keys of the\nKingdom, Earth cannot be restored to its Heavenly state!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Ephesians 3:14-19<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span><\/b> <\/span><\/b>For\nthis cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the\nwhole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according\nto the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the\ninner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted\nand grounded in love --<\/span><\/i> <\/span>agape<\/span><\/i>, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth,\nand length, and depth, and height; And to know the love --<\/span><\/i> <\/span>agape --<\/span><\/i> <\/span>of Christ, which passeth<\/span> knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness<\/span> of God.<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

HOW THE KEYS OF THE\nKINGDOM OF GOD WORK<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The sum and substance of Father, Jesus\nand Holy Spirit is<\/span> <\/span>Agape<\/span><\/i>. Sometimes I\nstruggle to use the word \u201clove\u201d in conjunction with this because our earthly\nconcepts of love are so distorted and misapplied.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Agape<\/span><\/i> <\/span>is\npurposed. It is disciplined. It is deliberate. It has a goal and objective to\nhave a family of God-created, God-image and likeness beings who are interwoven\nin a relationship of intimacy, authority, power, grace, hope, and faith.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

When we use the word \u201clove\u201d in our\nsocietal realm and understanding, we can\u2019t mentally associate judgment,\ndiscipline and absolute penalty with our concept of love.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

During the \u201cCharismatic Renewal\u201d there\nwas a real effort to teach and explain<\/span>\n<\/span>agape<\/span><\/i>,\nbut the application of it became seriously flawed. What came out of the\napplication was what we\u2019ve come to call \u201csloppy agape<\/i>.\u201d \u201cSloppy agape<\/i>\u201d\nwas a mushy, \u201cGod loves you just like you are\u201d misguided effort to convince\npeople to come to Jesus. By adding \u201cjust like you are,\u201d it created an\nenvironment in which the \u201cJesus Movement\u201d flourished.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

There were good things about the \u201cJesus\nMovement.\u201d There were bad things about it \u2014 missing was the necessity of\ndiscipline and the necessity of a disciplined walk if Jesus was going to\nreceive His inheritance in them. Left out of the \u201cGod loves you just like you\nare\u201d picture was the fact that a person can\u2019t become a disciple of Christ and\nremain \u201cjust like you are.\u201d Change is mandated \u2013 change brought on by\nresponding to the Holy Spirit.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Agape<\/span><\/i> <\/span>is\nthe force behind Creation. It is the force behind judgment. It is the authority\nand power behind the complete rejection of all who refuse and reject<\/u> the\nextended hand of love, mercy, forgiveness, remittance and cancelation of death,\ncancelation of the curse of the Law, and the ultimate price that Jesus paid to\nsecure His family.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Before we go too far down this road,\nlet\u2019s take a quick look at something that the apostle Peter wrote:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

II Peter 3:9-10 (RAC\nAmplified)<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span><\/b> <\/span>The Lord does not delay or slow down the giving of His promises\nin the same way that some consider appropriate, but patiently endures and is\nforbearing towards us, not desiring or deliberately purposing our destruction,\nrather wanting instead that all come to repentance; But \u2014 nevertheless \u2014 [be\nwarned:] the day [and appearing] of the Lord shall arrive suddenly in the same\nway a thief appears, snatches and vanishes in the middle of the night, in which\nthe heavens with rushing and crashing noise will vanish and perish, and the\nvery elements of the earth will ignite, burning, melting, and dissolving away\nwith the earth itself. In that same instant all the fruits of man\u2019s labors will\nburn to the ground \u2014 reduced to ashes.<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This may seem a totally unrelated\nScripture, so let\u2019s draw the picture. We\u2019re still talking about<\/span> <\/span>agape<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Agape<\/span><\/i> <\/span>does\nnot purpose destruction: rather it is patient and longsuffering (see I\nCorinthians 13:4), NOT rejoicing in others\u2019 infirmities or their failures.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The Lord isn\u2019t looking for or purposing\nthe destruction of those who don\u2019t come to Him acknowledging Him as Lord.\nRather, He extends Himself toward those who reject Him. He waits and waits and\nwaits for them to respond. Nevertheless, a day of destruction lies in wait for\nall who reject Jesus Christ; and He has warned, is warning, and will warn \u2014\nuntil the Day of the Lord \u2014 that the end of those who reject Him is total\nannihilation.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Agape<\/span><\/i> <\/span>does\nnot desire that; and so<\/span> <\/span>agape<\/span><\/i> <\/span>warns\nand warns and warns of coming destruction in the heart-felt desire of the Lord\nthat all will come to repentance.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

AGAPE: THE REQUIREMENT\nFOR FAITH TO WORK<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Without faith, the Keys of the Kingdom\ncannot be used to lock or unlock Heaven\u2019s resources.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Without the use of the Keys of the\nKingdom, Earth cannot be restored to its Heavenly state!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We have already noted how the Keys of\nthe Kingdom are authority<\/u> and power<\/u>. Neither of these keys works\nwithout a revelation of the person and nature of Jesus Christ. Neither of these\nkeys will unlock (nor lock up) Heaven\u2019s resources without<\/span> <\/span>agape<\/span><\/i> <\/span><\/i>being the motivating\nand compelling force.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Agape<\/span><\/i> <\/span>is\nFather\u2019s agenda.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Agape<\/span><\/i> <\/span>is\nJesus\u2019 agenda.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Agape<\/span><\/i> <\/span>is\nHoly Spirit\u2019s agenda.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Everything in God\u2019s economy flows from<\/span> <\/span>agape<\/span><\/i>.<\/span> <\/span>By the same token, it requires faith to\nturn the Keys of the Kingdom to unlock Heaven\u2019s resources or to lock them up.\nAs we have already noted from Paul\u2019s letter to the Galatians:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Galatians 5:6<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span><\/b> <\/span>For in Jesus Christ\nneither circumcision availeth<\/span> anything, nor uncircumcision<\/span>; but faith which worketh<\/span>\nby<\/u><\/span><\/i> <\/span><\/u><\/i>agape<\/span><\/u><\/i>.<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Before we get into some of the ways\nthat these Keys of the Kingdom work, let\u2019s first make sure were all on the same\npage where faith is concerned.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The KJV translates the word \u201cfaith\u201d\nthree times from the OT Hebrew (although it actually exists more often than\nthat) \u2018aman<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/span> <\/span><\/i>and\nits derivative,<\/span> <\/span>\u2018emun<\/span><\/span><\/i>. The principal\ndifference in the two words is in the tense in which it occurs, but they are\nessentially the same in meaning.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The Hebrew<\/span> <\/span>\u2018aman<\/span><\/span><\/i> <\/span><\/i>represents:\nfirmness, substance, to build up and support, to render, and to be\ntrustworthy and permanent<\/u>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Deuteronomy 32:20 and Habakkuk 2:4 are\nclassic examples of the use of this word in the OT.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In the first instance, the Lord rebukes\nIsrael for its lack of faith. You see a clear picture here of just how\ncritically important Father sees the need for faith in His people.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Deuteronomy 32:20-22:<\/span><\/u><\/b> <\/span>And he said, I will\nhide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very\nfroward<\/span> generation, children in whom is no faith.\nThey have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked\nme to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those\nwhich are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation. For\na fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall\nconsume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the\nmountains.<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The next OT example comes in Habakkuk\u2019s\nprophecy when he declares the Word of the Lord:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Habakkuk 2:4<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span><\/b> <\/span>Behold, his soul which\nis lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Both Old Testament uses of the word\n\u201cfaith\u201d are parallel in meaning to the New Testament Greek<\/span> <\/span>pisteuo<\/span><\/i><\/span> <\/span><\/i>and<\/span> <\/span>pistis<\/span><\/i><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

One of the most quoted verses in\nScripture dealing with faith is in Jesus\u2019 statement to the disciples when they\nsee and experience the event where the fig tree dries up from the roots\nliterally overnight. The disciples express amazement over Jesus\u2019 authority over\nthe natural environment, and ability to speak to the tree with such\neffectiveness that the tree dies as a result of His Word.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

What they forget in this instance is\nthe fact that it was the spoken Word that caused trees to exist in the first\nplace. Since Jesus was the One who spoke those Creation words in the first\nplace, it should not be surprising that He had the ability to also command them\nto die. But the disciples were just beginning to get a grip on the fact that\nJesus WAS that same Word \u2014 that He was the Creator!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\u2019ve still got a long ways to go on\nthis, so let\u2019s stop here and we\u2019ll pick it up in our next Coffee Break.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n
