G\n\u2018Mornin<\/span>\u2019!<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Don\u2019t\nremember if I\u2019ve talked at all about our youngest granddaughter, Jasmine. She\u2019s\njust shy of 2 \u00bd years old, our son Joshua\u2019s daughter. Jasmine gets to spend\nweekends with us frequently (we don\u2019t consider it babysitting \u2013 grin!) and\nshe\u2019s a real kick!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

More\nand more she is reminding us of Jessica \u2013 who is now 8 years old \u2013 when she was\nthat age, with her sensitivity to spiritual things. If you recall, I made\nreference in Heaven II to the fact that we were with the Lord in spirit form in\nHeaven long before we came into this world. If you missed that discussion I\nwon\u2019t take time to recall all of the Scriptures that back it up other than to\nrefer you back to the second Coffee Break in this series on Heaven. My\nreference to that discussion will become clear momentarily.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Jasmine\nisn\u2019t always talkative, and sometimes her conversation isn\u2019t exactly clear.\nLike a lot of two-year-olds, she jabbers about this and that occasionally and\nyou really have to listen closely to figure out what she\u2019s talking about. This\npast Sunday afternoon she was sitting at the kitchen counter having a snack\nwith Grandma Della.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Della\nperiodically talks to Jasmine about spiritual things just to input these values\nin her life and to see her responses. Sunday, however, Della decided to pose a\nquestion to Jasmine on the spur of the moment. Jasmine hadn\u2019t been talking or\nsaying anything because she was focused on her snack. Della says to her,\n\u201cJasmine, did you know that you were with Jesus in Heaven before you were born\nhere?\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Jasmine\nstops, looks at Della and says very clearly and matter-of-fact, \u201cYes, Grandma!\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Della\ndid a double-take! Beyond the fact that both she and I can remember times and\nevents when we were very young that we both realized we were far older than our\nearth years and had a very intimate knowledge of the Lord, we have both met and\ntalked to many adults throughout the years who have nearly identical memories.\nThis, however, was the first time either of us had heard or seen a young child\nwho was consciously aware of it.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

I\nknow this is taking things out of sequence in terms of my experiences in Heaven\nbut because I\u2019ve been seeing and remembering my conversations with David it\nseemed appropriate to pick up with him today and talk about Joseph and then\nMoses in a later Coffee Break.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

For\nwhatever reason, David appeared even younger than any of the others with whom I\nhad talked. Even today thinking back on those discussions and remembering the\nimage still firmly planted in my memory, he appeared to me to be in his early\n30\u2019s. Although I had a chance to see him briefly in his royal robes as he\nappeared while reigning over Israel, he appeared to me mostly in white. My\nfirst experience, however, was with him as a shepherd.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Whether\nit was because I had a fascination with the Psalms, or whether it was because\nof my six years (at that point) of playing musical instruments, questioning\nbegan and gravitated around the subject of the Psalms.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

My\nfirst question to David was, \u201cHow did you write the Psalms? How could you come\nout with such wonderful praise and worship in a way that no one else did?\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Again,\nwhether I was transported there in the Spirit or simply allowed to see the\nevents through David\u2019s eyes, I do not know. What I do know is that I saw David\nsitting on the hillsides tending his father\u2019s sheep as he began to share how\nthe Spirit of God flowed through him.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

\u201cI\nfell in love with the Lord God in my early youth,\u201d he said. \u201cGoing with my\nfather or my older brothers out into the fields gave me time to be alone and\nmeditate on the Lord. I learned to play a small harp and carried it with me. As\nmore and more responsibility was given me over the care and watch of the sheep,\nI had more and more time to sit back on the grassy slopes, close my eyes, and\njust get lost in the presence of the Lord.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In\na split second we were back \u2013 or at least I was again aware of being in Heaven\n\u2013 and David and I were walking into a stunning section of city with palatial\nstructures and remarkable architecture. (And, by the way, the streets were made\nof gold so fine it was almost transparent! I\u2019ll talk more about this later.)\nThe sounds of praise and worship as a sea of music had changed from that which\nI had been hearing and more distinct words and musical structure became\napparent.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

David\ncontinued. \u201cYou\u2019ve been hearing these sounds of praise and worship and\nadoration since you\u2019ve been here,\u201d he said, \u201cand if you pay attention you will\nhear some of the same words I used as I sang the Psalms, hymns and spiritual\nsongs. I didn\u2019t write those. They originated here among the angels. I\u2019m sure\nyou will have the chance to see the Throne and the angelic worship that\nsurrounds it, but this kind of praise, worship and adoration was going on long\nbefore I ever came on the scene.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

\u201cThe\nmore time I spent in praise and worship of the Lord, the more opportunity I had\nto hear what God hears continually. He simply allowed me to transfer a tiny\nportion of it into the earthly realm for others to hear and share.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

With\nscarcely a blink of the eye we were back in David\u2019s era and sitting on a\nhillside. This time he had a rather elegant but simple harp. His<\/span><\/o:p>\n<\/span>fingers\nbrushed across the strings and suddenly I saw what he had been allowed to see.\nThe words of the 8th<\/sup> Psalm flooded us and the presence of the Lord \u2013\nreally it was the Glory of the Lord \u2013 saturated the place where we were\nsitting. David began to sing as he had sung in his early years. The words\nflowed, however, with a familiarity that came from having sung them many times.\nI thought it was really remarkable \u2013 \u201ccool\u201d actually \u2013 to hear him sing those\nwords to different melodies as he sang, sometimes hummed, almost shouted at\ntimes.<\/span>\n<\/o:p>\n<\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u201cO Lord our Lord, how\nexcellent is thy name in all the earth! Who hast set Thy Glory above the\nheavens. Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings<\/span> thou\nhast ordained strength because of thine<\/span> enemies, that\nthou mightest<\/span> still the enemy and the avenger. When I\nconsider Thy Heavens, the work of Thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which Thou\nhast ordained; what is man that Thou art mindful of him? And the son of man\nthat Thou visitest<\/span> him? For thou hast made him a\nlittle lower than God, and hast crowned him with glory and honour<\/span>.\nThou madest<\/span> him to have dominion over the works of\nthy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: All sheep and oxen, yea,\nand the beasts of the field; the fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and\nwhatsoever passeth<\/span> through the paths of the seas. O\nLORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It\nwas as though Creation was unfolding all over again before our eyes. We were\nseeing glimpses of the genesis of the universe, the earth and man\u2019s careful\ncrafting in God\u2019s own likeness and image. To say the least, it was a WOW\nexperience!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

It\nwas an experience I didn\u2019t want to leave. It was one of those times when you\njust want to bask in the presence of the Lord and saturate yourself with Him.\nIt would leave an indelible impression in my being -- one that has never gone\naway. Once you have experienced that sense of the Lord\u2019s presence, the\nindescribable love, the weight of His Glory\u2026 well, there is simply nothing\nearthly that can substitute. The greatest excitements of this earthly realm\nthat I\u2019ve known in the roughly sixty years since this trip to Heaven took place\npale into insignificance by comparison!<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

I\u2019m\ngetting ahead of myself in saying this, but you\u2019ll quickly understand and\nappreciate that I was literally captivated by that sense of the presence of the\nLord Jesus Christ. When it came time for me to leave Heaven sometime later, I\ncan promise you that everything inside of me screamed, \u201cNOOOO!!! I don\u2019t want\nto leave!\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Though\nthere are times when that sense of God\u2019s presence are more conscious and\ntangible than others, I can honestly say that there has never been a day in my\nlife since when I have not been aware of His presence with me. Nothing can take\nit away! Even when I\u2019ve made some serious screw-ups in my life, terrible\ndecisions and blunders that I look back on and shake my head in wonderment, He\nhas always been there.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

I\nguess I relate to David as much or more than anyone else throughout history. I\nunderstand why the Lord loved him like He does and why David has always been\nregarded as \u201ca man after God\u2019s own heart\u201d \u2013 screw-ups and all. God cared less\nabout David\u2019s blunders (even though David certainly reaped what he sowed) than\nHe did about his heart and passion for the presence of the Lord \u2013 not only for\nhimself, but for all of Israel. Ahh<\/span>, but I\u2019m getting\nahead of myself again.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

One\nof the things I\u2019ve forgotten to mention is that although I was having these\nconversations with Abraham, with Isaac, with Jacob, with David \u2013 and all the\nothers \u2013 Jesus never left. He was always nearby. Sometimes He would smile,\nsometimes nod His head, and sometimes just give a knowing wink of agreement. He\nnever interfered in the conversations or added something to them, but His\nvisible presence was a guiding factor to the course of every discussion.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

As\nour conversation resumed, David began to talk about the visions he\u2019d received \u2013\nthe impartation of instrument designs. Some of this revelation occurred while\nhe was still tending sheep and some of it took place after he\u2019d become King of\nIsrael.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u201cThe\nmore time I spent in praise and worship to the Lord and the more I heard the\nsounds coming from Heaven I asked the Lord how to make those sounds. My desire\nwas to duplicate here for men and women to hear and to respond to that realm,\nthat sound, that presence of the Lord that comes through the re-creation of the\nnotes, the chords, the drumbeats of the angels.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

David\npointed to my hands and said, \u201cThe stringed instruments you are learning to\nplay were derived from the psalteries I originally created from the visions\nreceived during my times of praise and worship. Stay with your practice. Become\nskilled as a musician so that you, too, can draw people into the presence of\nthe Lord with your praise and worship.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

[Note:\nAlthough David\u2019s instruction to \u201cbecome skilled as a musician\u201d kind of faded\ninto the background over the years, those words were engraved in my spirit to\nthe place where \u2013 as time progressed \u2013 I almost(?) became obsessed with\npractice and developing more and more musical skills. In a Coffee Break titled\n\u201cGuitars\u201d published several years ago, I noted how my obsession to become \u201cthe\nworld\u2019s greatest guitar player\u201d brought me to the place at age 24 when my\nlongtime-friend and fellow minister of the Gospel, Dwain McKenzie, said to me\none day, \u201cReg<\/span>, the Lord is going to require you to\nput that guitar on the altar.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

Not\nuntil my prized custom-made guitar was stolen from me a little over a year\nlater did those words come to mean something; and it would still be another\nyear before I would cry out to the Lord to do whatever it took to create the\nheart of David within me so that I would become that kind of spontaneous praiser<\/span> and worshiper. It was during that same period that\nthe Lord made it possible for me to purchase a rare, literally priceless\nRamirez flamenco guitar. That instrument was dedicated to the Lord and has been\nused only for praise and worship in the 40-plus years since.]<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

I\nrealized as David was talking about creating (we would call him an inventor,\nbut from his perspective he simply duplicated what he saw in Heaven) the\ndifferent musical instruments that this was something that spanned much of his\nlife. He began creating musical instruments while still in his youth,\nexperimenting with different woods, animal skins, coming up with varying\nthicknesses of strings for the psalteries, the harps and the other varied stringed\ninstruments he worked on in order to create musical sounds.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In\nhis later years as a soldier, then on the run for his life from Saul, and again\nlater as King, he was more and more occupied with other activities so that he\nhad less time to spend creating. And yet the creative juices in him never\nstopped. He used his time as much as possible to bring the Heavenly realm he\nhad become so used to in the realm of praise and worship, prayer and\nintercession, to Israel.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

I\ncan see that I won\u2019t have time today to get into the things he talked about as\nhe sketched the design of the temple and planned for the day when all Israel\nwould get to taste of what he knew, experienced and saw of the Lord. That will\nwait until after the Christmas holiday season when we talk about David\u2019s\nexperiences with the Lord as King of Israel.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

It\nnever ceases to amaze me even to this day how much was implanted in my spirit\nand mind and subconscious as a result of my conversations and experiences in\nHeaven. Looking back to the days (to me the time was roughly analogous to three\nearth days though there certainly was no night) I spent in conversations as\nwell as the things that the Lord showed me, I\u2019ve come to realize that I\u2019ve\nknown things about the Lord, His plan and purpose for His people, and the\ndestiny He has designed for all of us my entire life. There have \u2013 I\u2019m sad to\nsay \u2013 been periods of time in which I have not thought much about those things\nand my focus has been in other places, but the Lord always brings me back to\nthe central objective.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

One\nof the things I\u2019ve learned as a result of my experiences in Heaven is that the\nmore time you spend in the presence of the Lord, the more He \u201cdownloads\u201d into\nyou. We are not always conscious of the impartations that are taking place, and\nsometimes we are totally oblivious to the revelations until days, weeks \u2013 even\nyears \u2013 have passed. Things come to mind that we think of as then-current\nrevelation, but the truth is that the Holy Spirit continually implants Himself\nand the knowledge of the Lord into those who entire being thirsts after an\nintimate relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\u2019ll\nbe talking more about this in the days and weeks to come, but this is a good\nplace to take a break. See you again early in January.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
