ANOTHER COFFEE BREAK: LYING SIGNS & WONDERS?<\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Shandell<\/span><\/b><\/span>\nposed a question the other day,<\/span>\nand I\nthought this would be a good place to do a piece on this subject.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\n

Her\nquestion was, <\/span><\/b>\"could\nthis be one of those signs and wonders we are warned\nnot to be fooled into believing that are from God, or could it be real\nmiracles\nfrom the Lord?\"<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\n

This\nis a question I've heard\nothers raise -- not only with respect to what's happening in <\/span>Lakeland<\/span><\/st1:city>,\n<\/span>Florida<\/span><\/st1:state><\/st1:place>,\nbut\nwith other ministries and purported moves of the Holy Spirit.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

Let's\nfirst deal with some rules of thumb from\nScripture that will help you understand how to discern between lying\nsigns and\nwonders and those signs that follow the believer according to the\npromise and\ncommand that Jesus made.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

Ooooops<\/span><\/b><\/span>!!! \nAlmost forgot.  Good Morning!  Coffee poured\nyet?  Well, whaddaya<\/span>\nwaitin<\/span>'\nfor?<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\n

First,\nlet's look at the context in which the apostle Paul\ndescribes these lying wonders.  In his second letter\nto the\nThessalonians, Paul writes, <\/span>\"Then\nshall\nthat Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the Spirit of\nHis\nmouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming. \nEven him\nwhose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and\nlying\nwonders, and with all deceivableness of\nunrighteousness in them that\nperish<\/u>; because they received not the love\nof the truth<\/u>, that\nthey might be saved.  And for this cause, God shall send them\nstrong\ndelusion that they should believe a lie: that they all might be damned\nwho\nbelieved not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.\" <\/span><\/i><\/strong> (II\nThessalonians 2:8-12)<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

The\ncontext in which Paul writes makes very clear just\nexactly what kind of signs and lying wonders people will be drawn after.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

A\nperson who has a love of the Truth (and Jesus\nspecifically says [see John 14:6] ,<\/span> <\/span>\"I\nam The Way, The Truth, and The Life; no man cometh to\nthe Father but by me.\"<\/span><\/b><\/em>)<\/span>has<\/span><\/span>\na love of Jesus\nChrist.  They have a love of righteousness.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

No\none who has a love of righteousness or a love of Truth\nis going to be deceived by any sign or wonder.  The corollary\nto this is\nthat no one who loves righteousness and truth is going to perform any\nsign or\nwonder contrary to righteousness and truth.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

So\nwhat does this mean?<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

Satan\ndoes not heal people: Jesus does.  Jesus said, <\/span><\/b><\/em><\/span>\"I\nam come that they might have life, and that they might\nhave it more abundantly.\"<\/span><\/b><\/em> \n(John\n10:10)  Satan is not going to do something that will bring\nglory to Jesus\nChrist.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

Satan\ndoes not cast out demons: Jesus does.  In fact,\nwhen the Pharisees accused Jesus of casting out demons using the power\nof\nBeelzebub, the prince of demons, Jesus answered them and said, <\/span>\"Every\nkingdom divided against itself<\/span>\nis brought to desolation, and a house divided against a house falleth<\/span>.  If Satan also\nbe divided against himself,\nhow shall his kingdom stand?  because<\/span>\nye say that\nI cast out devils through Beelzebub.  And if I by Beelzebub\ncast out\ndevils, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore<\/span>\nthey shall be your judges.  But if I with the finger of God\ncast out\ndevils, no doubt the <\/span><\/i><\/strong>Kingdom<\/span><\/i><\/strong><\/st1:placetype>\nof <\/span><\/i><\/strong>God<\/span><\/i><\/strong><\/st1:placename><\/st1:place>\nis come upon you.\" <\/span><\/i><\/strong> (Luke\n11:17-20)<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

Satan\ndoes not restore the sight of the blind, he does not\ncause the lame to walk again, he does not heal of cancer, he does not\ncause the\ndeaf to hear, and he does not fill people with the Holy Spirit.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

Let\nme take a minute to clarify something here.  A\nnumber of years ago I was in a meeting with Derek Prince when he shared\na\nrecent case of deliverance.  A mother had taken her young\ndaughter to a\npsychic for healing of some serious physical problems.  My\nrecollection is\nthat the girl had skin diseases, lesions and what appeared as nodules\nor warts\nor growths extruding from her skin in various places.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

The\npsychic \"healer\" (in fact, a fortune teller\nwho was working at a church bazaar!) went through her rituals and\nincantations\nand the problems seemed to disappear.  There was, however, no\nglory given\nto the Lord Jesus Christ, and absolutely no recognition that He was the\nsource\nof healing and health.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

One\nthing should be noted.  The psychic healer gave\nthe girl an amulet to wear and instructed her never to take it\noff.  The\ntrouble was that the girl suddenly lost her ability to reason\nmathematically.  She had been brilliant in school, and now\nbegan to fail\nher math classes, along with a couple of other non-related\nsubjects.  As\nthe weeks wore into months, the girl began to live almost in a constant\ndaze,\nshutting out the rest of the outside world in an almost autistic state.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

When\nthe mother heard through her church that Derek Prince\nwas in the area and ministering deliverance from evil spirits, she\nbrought her\ndaughter for healing.  Derek asked her a few quick questions,\nand was\nastonished to hear her say that she took her daughter to a psychic\nhealer.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

His\nimmediate question to her was, \"Why?  Why\nwould you take your daughter to Satan?  You are a professing\nChristian,\nand yet you go to Satan?  He is NOT <\/span>'the\nWay, the Truth and the Life.' <\/span><\/i><\/b> Satan\nis the thief who comes to steal, to kill and to\ndestroy!\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

As\nhe was talking to the mother, his eyes suddenly fell on\nthe amulet around the girl's neck.  With a Word of Knowledge\nfrom the Holy\nSpirit concerning that amulet, Derek Prince reached over and grabbed\nit,\nsnapping the chain.  The amulet broke open on the floor and a\ntiny strip\nof paper fell out.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

He\nreached down and picked up the strip of paper and\nunrolled it; then read the words written on it to both mother and\ndaughter.  The words on that paper read, \"Satan, keep this\ngirl's\nbody well, until her soul rests in Hell.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

Derek\nrebuked the spirits of enchantment and witchcraft,\nand the girl was immediately set free.  Her countenance\ncleared, she\nreturned to awareness of everything and everyone around her, and -- as\nher\nmother later testified -- her brilliance in school returned. \nShe was\ncompletely healed and set free.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

Now,\nconsider the events taking place in these meetings\nwith Todd Bentley.  You will never hear him -- or anyone with\nhim -- give\nglory to anyone but Jesus Christ for the miracles that are\nhappening.  In\nthe seventy-five-plus days that have transpired since this\nmiraculous\noutpouring began, literally thousands of people have come to know Jesus\nChrist\npersonally.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

Think\nSatan is interested in getting people saved? \nNope.  His only interest is in getting folks to reject Jesus\nChrist and\nkeep them under his thumb.  Every person who accepts Jesus\nChrist is a\nlost cause to Satan's kingdom.  Every person who glorifies\nJesus Christ as\nthe author and source of his or her healing or deliverance has just\nslapped\nSatan upside the head.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

Lying\nwonders?  Lying signs?  Those are the\nsigns and events and wonders that glorify the flesh.  They\nglorify man's\nwisdom and learning.  They glorify man's intellect. \nSometimes, they\ndelve into what we commonly refer to as \"the psychic realm.\" \nThe psychic realm is a realm which relies entirely on soul-power -- NOT\nthe\nSpirit of God!  In fact, the word, \"psychic\" comes from the\nGreek \"<\/span>psuche<\/span><\/i><\/span>\"\nfor \"soul, mind, intellect, thinking<\/span>.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

You'll\nNEVER see a lying sign, a lying wonder, or a\nlying miracle which brings glory and praise and worship\nto the Lord\nJesus Christ and to God the Father.  That's the best way I can\ndescribe\nit.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

Now,\ngo back and listen to GOD TV again.  Watch\nthe events that are taking place nightly in <\/span>Lakeland<\/span><\/st1:city>,\n<\/span>Florida<\/span><\/st1:state><\/st1:place>. \nListen to what the people are saying when they receive their healing,\ntheir\ndeliverance, their miracle, their being raised from the dead. \nAre they\nsaying, \"I did it\"?  Are they saying, \"Todd did this by\nhimself or through his own power\"?<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

Or,\nrather, are they saying, \"The Lord has healed\nme\"?  Are they saying, \"Praise God\"?  Are they\nsaying,\n\"Jesus has set me free\"?<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

Understand?<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

Todd\nis a strange person, all right -- in fact, you'll see\nfew who are stranger (!) -- but<\/span>\nGod doesn't pick people\nbecause they are smooth, polished, and good looking.  He picks\nfolks who\nare willing to be laughed at, willing to be made a fool for Christ's\nsake,\nwilling to simply obey His command no matter what other folks think.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

Let\nme wrap up what has turned into a much longer answer\nthan I originally intended by quoting from Paul's first letter to the\nCorinthians: <\/span>\"But\nGod hath chosen the foolish\nthings of the world to confound the wise, and God hath chosen the weak\nthings\nof the world to confound the things that are mighty, And base\nthings of\nthe world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and\nthings\nwhich are not, to bring to nought<\/span>\nthings that are:\nthat no flesh should glory in His presence.\"  <\/span><\/i><\/b>(<\/span>I\nCorinthians\n1:27-29)<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

Folks\nwho are bound by religious spirits really have a\nproblem with this.  It simply isn't orderly.  It\nisn't refined. \nIt isn't mannerly and polished.  In fact, by every description\none could\nconjure, the Lakeland Outpouring is both base and foolish. \nSome of Todd's\nmannerisms,<\/span> and the\nmannerisms of his associates are\neasily despised as \"uncouth,\" and maybe even \"bizarre,\" or\n-- according to some folks' understanding, \"unscriptural.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

Consider\nthe original words in Paul's statements from the\nGreek text for \"foolish\" and \"base.\"  The word\ntranslated as \"foolish\" is the word <\/span>moros<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/span>. \nThis is\nthe same word from which we get the English word, \"moron,\" or its\ncompanion adjective \"moronic.\"  The Greek term, <\/span>moros<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/span>,\nliterally translates to: dull, stupid, heedless, blockhead,\nfool.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

Then\nthere's that word translated \"base\" from\nthe Greek <\/span>agenes<\/span><\/i><\/span> (pronounced,\nag<\/span><\/span>\n- en - ace).  Yeowch<\/span>! \nWhat a word!  The literal\ntranslation of this word is\" bastard.<\/span> \nIt describes someone without traceable parentage or ancestry --\nsomeone, in\nother words, who is ignoble, looked down upon, lacking in the\ndiscipline or\nupbringing of a father.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

And\nTHAT, my friends, is the kind of thing God uses with\nwhich to show His Glory.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

In\nour next Coffee Break, let me answer another question\nconcerning the alleged \"hysteria\" and strange manifestations that\nsome folks perceive with this outpouring.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

Healing\nis the gift of God.  It is part of the\nBlessing of Abraham restored by the Lord Jesus Christ to and for all\nwho\nbelieve.  Do not for a minute think that sickness or infirmity\nis a\nblessing from the Lord.  It is a curse from Satan. \nJesus came to\nredeem us from that curse!<\/span><\/i><\/o:p><\/p>\n

The\nBlessing of the Lord: it makes rich and He adds no\npainful toil and sorrow!<\/span><\/i><\/b>  <\/span>(Proverbs\n10:22)  Be blessed!<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n
