ANOTHER COFFEE BREAK: THE PSALM 23 ADVENTURE, Part 32<\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div>

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Isaiah made a couple of specific\npromises concerning children and the inheritance of God in them.\u00a0 <\/span>Take a look.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Isaiah 54:13<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>And all thy children shall\nbe<\/i> taught of the LORD; and great shall be<\/i> the peace of thy children. <\/b><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Isaiah 59:21<\/span><\/u><\/b>: \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>As\nfor me, this is<\/i> my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is<\/i>\nupon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of\nthy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed\u2019s\nseed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and forever.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Last week, I opened up the Coffee\nBreak, sharing the visitation that our son, Joshua, had in jail just a couple\nof weeks ago.\u00a0 <\/span>One thing that I left out\nwas the fact that for a brief moment, he saw an image of his wife, Michelle,\nappear just behind one of the angels.\u00a0 <\/span>He\nasked me if perhaps Michelle was having the same experience at that same\ntime.\u00a0 <\/span>I told him that I would find out.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

It didn\u2019t take long.\u00a0 <\/span>Michelle called us about an hour after we\ntalked with Josh.\u00a0 <\/span>I shared with her what\nJosh had just shared with us and asked if she had experienced a similar\nvisitation.\u00a0 <\/span>She broke and it took a few\nminutes for her to regain any semblance of composure.\u00a0 <\/span>She responded that she\u2019d had a vision of her\nand Joshua walking with the Lord Jesus, holding his hands and having that same\nindescribable peace that Josh had shared with us.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Isaiah\u2019s prophecy in Isaiah 59:21\nincludes \u201cthy seed\u2019s seed.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>You already\nknow that we have custody of their four children.\u00a0 <\/span>I believe that I shared with you what their\ndaughter, Jasmine, experienced a few weeks back.\u00a0 <\/span>She was singing a song about her love for the\nLord Jesus Christ, and it was something I\u2019d never heard her sing before.\u00a0 <\/span>When asked where she heard that song, her\nresponse was that Jesus had come to her during the night, that He sat on her\nbed and they sang together.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Yesterday, I heard her singing\nanother new song so I asked her if she\u2019d had another visit with Jesus.\u00a0 <\/span>She nodded her head and said, \u201cYes, last\nnight.\u00a0 <\/span>He has come to see me lots of\ntimes, and we sing together.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

You don\u2019t need any great imagination\nto know what it does for Della and me to see what God is doing in our\ngrandchildren.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let\u2019s pick up\nwhere we left off last week.\u00a0 <\/span>We are\ntalking about being led into and through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, and\nwhy this is such an important principle for us to understand in God\u2019s economy\nin our lives.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We left off\nlast week with Paul\u2019s description of what takes place in our beings depending\non where our minds, our thoughts and our focus is oriented, and why this bears\ndirectly on the need for us to walk through the Valley of the Shadow of\nDeath.\u00a0 <\/span>We stopped with Romans 8:5.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

For those whose minds and thoughts are oriented towards, and dwell\non, the desires and cravings of the flesh (along with the lusts that originate\nin the mind) are continually in pursuit of that which pleases one\u2019s rational\nthinking and satisfies fleshly desires; but those whose thoughts, whose\ndesires, and whose purposes are to measure up to the mandate of the Spirit,\nwill be in constant pursuit of that which creates and generates the fulfillment\nof the inner man. <\/span>(Romans\n8:5, <\/span>RAC<\/span><\/st1:stockticker> Translation &\nAmplification)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Pretty clear\nisn\u2019t it?\u00a0 <\/span>But Paul takes it another\nstep.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Because when one\u2019s thoughts, purpose, intent, and focus is on the\nthings that gratify the lusts of the flesh, it results in both spiritual and\nphysical death, but when a person allows the breath of Holy Spirit to blow upon\nand infuse their minds, their thoughts, and the intents of their heart, they\nare filled with the very life and light of Father God; and their beings are\npermeated with (and radiate) His peace, which passes all unredeemed and\nnatural, human understanding.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>(Romans 8:6, <\/span>RAC<\/span><\/st1:stockticker> Translation &\nAmplification)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Hence\nwe are being led into and through the Valley of the Shadow of Death in order to\nsee for ourselves the kind of authority we have over death and the\nSpirit-developed ability to be in perfect and complete peace when surrounded by\ndeath and the threats thereof.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And\nPaul continues:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Thus, when one purposes in his thoughts and focus to do only those\nthings that gratify and please the lusts and desires of the flesh, they set\nthemselves in opposition to God; and, indeed, that way of thinking and\nreasoning is insubordinate and disobedient to the laws and principles of\nGod.\u00a0 <\/span>It is impossible for that kind of\nmindset to be anything but insubordinate and disobedient.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Hence, those whose mindsets, thinking and purposed intents are\nfocused on pleasing and gratifying fleshly lusts cannot at any time, and will\nnot under any circumstances please and satisfy the Lord God. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>(Romans 8:7-8, <\/span>RAC<\/span><\/st1:stockticker> Translation &\nAmplification)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\nskip down a few verses to see the kicker in what Paul is writing to the Romans:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

So then, if the Holy Spirit \u2014 the Spirit of Father God \u2014 that\nawakened and raised up Jesus from the dead has taken up permanent residence in\nyou, occupies, cohabits (and exercises ruling authority), He that awakened,\nraised up and re-infused the Anointed One (with His anointing) from physical\ndeath shall revitalize, restore and endue your physical and spiritual being by\nthat same indwelling and residing and authoritative Holy Spirit.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>(Romans 8:11, <\/span>RAC<\/span><\/st1:stockticker> Translation &\nAmplification)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This\nis what our walk in the Pathos of Righteousness has been all about.\u00a0 <\/span>Through the lessons, the instruction, the\nexperiences and the spiritual adventures we have as we have followed Jesus\nChrist, the authority and power, the very personality of the Lord have been\nbeing developed in us.\u00a0 <\/span>That same\nauthority and power \u2014 and personality \u2014 have been overtaking us, transforming\nus into His image and likeness.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I\nknow this is a hard one for a lot of people to swallow, but \u2014 if we believe it,\nand it becomes the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus within us \u2014 we are\nliterally impervious to death.\u00a0 <\/span>We were\nnever designed to die in the first place.\u00a0\n<\/span>Death was part of the curse that came upon the human race because Adam\nchose to eat of the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge and Good and Evil,\ndespite the warning that death would result as a consequence.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Remember\nwhen Jesus was sent for after Lazarus died, and Martha said to him, <\/span>\u201cLord,\nif you had been here, my brother wouldn\u2019t have died.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Jesus\nanswered Martha like this (and He makes this statement (or the essence of it\nnot less than three times):<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

John 11:25-2<\/span><\/u><\/b>6:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Jesus\nsaid unto her, \u201cI am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me,\nthough he were dead, yet shall he live: <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>And whosoever liveth and\nbelieveth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Do\nyou see it?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u201cAnd whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die<\/u>.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In\nthe Greek text, the word translated \u201cdie\u201d is, <\/span>apothnesko<\/span><\/i><\/b>.\u00a0 <\/span>This word is like another Greek word for\ndeath, but in this case, it literally means to have died (by whatever means \u2014\nnatural or unnatural) and gone into the grave.\u00a0\n<\/span>A person is not just dead.\u00a0 <\/span>They\nare not revivable by any normal means.\u00a0\n<\/span>They\u2019ve gone through the funeral process and have been buried.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Thus,\nJesus is saying that even death \u2014 whether by natural or unnatural means \u2014 is\nreversible.\u00a0 <\/span>More than that, He is saying\nthat we\u2019ve been given power over death.\u00a0\n<\/span>We\u2019ve been given the same authority of Father God, who raised up Jesus\nfrom the grave.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

There\nare multitudes of examples of people who have died and been raised up from the\ndead.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I\nthink of the example of a man in <\/span>Kenya<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> who was killed in an auto\naccident when the steering wheel broke and a spoke of the steering wheel went\nright through his heart.\u00a0 <\/span>His wife and\nfriends refused to accept his death as permanent and brought his body to a\nmeeting where Reinhard Bonnke was preaching.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\ncrowds were so great that they couldn\u2019t bring him into the auditorium.\u00a0 <\/span>Instead, they laid his sheet-covered body on\na table in the basement, right under where Reinhard Bonnke was preaching.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

As\nthe meeting progressed, the man suddenly sat up and the sheet fell off.\u00a0 <\/span>He was totally restored, and is a living\ntestimony today of our authority over death through Jesus Christ.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

You\nall know my own story of dropping dead from a massive heart attack at age 41\nwhile taking a shower.\u00a0 <\/span>Della and I had\nnot been married long, and she wasn\u2019t about to accept my death.\u00a0 <\/span>She dragged my body out of the bathroom and\ninto the bedroom, where she heaved me up onto the bed.\u00a0 <\/span>That, in itself, was a miracle!\u00a0 <\/span>At the time, I weighed roughly 250\npounds.\u00a0 <\/span>Della weighed maybe 105 \u2013 110\npounds.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

She\ncommenced to speaking life back into me in the name of Jesus.\u00a0 <\/span>It didn\u2019t happen instantly, but she wouldn\u2019t\nlet go.\u00a0 <\/span>After about 20 minutes or so, I\nawoke to see her fist raised in the air and shouting, \u201cYou will come back in\nthe name of Jesus.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>I reached up and grabbed\nher hand thinking she was going to hit me.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That\nI had been restored was evident when I saw a medical doctor for a complete\ncheckup, and he said, \u201cIf I didn\u2019t know you, and you weren\u2019t in front of me,\nthe test results tell me that you are about 20 years old.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>Some 20 years of aging had been taken off my\nlife, and I was restored to my youth.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Paul\nexpressed himself in numerous ways regarding the authority we have over death\nbut in his letter to the Philippians, we see a heartfelt prayer coming out of\nthe depths of his being.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Philippians 3:10-11<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>That\nI may know him, and the power of his resurrection<\/span><\/u>, and\nthe fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by\nany means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Despite\nall that Paul had experienced in his walk with the Lord, despite the revelations\nhe\u2019d received, and despite the fact that \u2014 by this time \u2014 he had raised\nnumerous individuals from the dead, he still wanted and desired that depth of\nrevelation which would allow Him to know the very nature of the Lord Jesus\nChrist.\u00a0 <\/span>He desired to know by revelation\n\u2014 so that it was implanted in his being and infused into his spirit \u2014 just\nexactly what it was that Father God had in His makeup, His character and\npersonality that enabled Him to have that kind of authority over death.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

When\nPaul prays, <\/span>\u201c \u2026.. being made conformable unto His death,\u201d <\/span>he is asking to be so\nchanged in his being that he would be <\/span>summorphos <\/span><\/i><\/b>\u2014 \u201cjointly formed\u201d \u2014 into\nthat same nature of Jesus so that facing death would not be the least bit\nintimidating or threatening.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That<\/span><\/i><\/b>, folks, is an authority that brings real boldness!\u00a0 <\/span>Thus, the dynamic power of Jesus\u2019\nresurrection is synonymous with <\/span>\u201cthe fellowship of His\nsufferings, being jointly formed with Him\u201d<\/span> in such a way that death was no threat.\u00a0 <\/span>The curse that came upon the human race by\nvirtue of eating of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil incorporated\npermanent physical death \u2014 not to mention separation from a relationship with\nthe Lord God.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Consider\nhow John puts it in the Revelation of Jesus Christ.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And they subdued, conquered and overcame Satan \u2013 the accuser of\nour brothers and sisters \u2013 by the legal authority enacted by and through Jesus\u2019\ndeath on the Cross and His resurrection from the dead, and by the convictions\nof their minds and thoughts and purposes, and subsequent evidence in their\nlives, along with their spoken testimony; and they considered not the\nconsequences of their testimony, its effect on their lives and\/or livelihoods, and\nthe<\/span>\n<\/span>possibility or even probability of suffering death as a result\ndid not intimidate them.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>(Revelation 12:11, <\/span>RAC<\/span><\/st1:stockticker> Translation and\nAmplification)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nGreek text in this verse makes it abundantly clear that their testimony was\nprefaced by a mindset and a focus on the Word of the Lord.\u00a0 <\/span>The issue was not what they faced, but what\nJesus had said \u2013 and was saying<\/i><\/b>!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I\nwant to take this discussion a bit further, and dig into knowing the<\/span>\n\u201cpower of His resurrection,\u201d<\/span> so let\u2019s stop for now and we will pick this up again next\nweek.<\/span><\/a><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n
