ANOTHER COFFEE BREAK: THE CAUSELESS CURSE<\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div>

"As the sparrow in her wandering, as the swallow in\nher flying, so the causeless curse shall not alight."  (Proverbs\n26:2, Amplified Version)<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

"How can I curse those God has not cursed? Or how can\nI [violently] denounce those the LORD has not denounced?"  (Numbers\n23:8, Amplified Version)<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

Last week we did a Coffee Break in which I noted that the Obama<\/span> family in <\/span>Mombassa<\/span><\/st1:City>, <\/span>Kenya<\/span><\/st1:country-region><\/st1:place> had orchestrated a daily ritual among the local witches,\nwarlocks, shamans and practicers<\/span> of the occult. \nThat ritual included their rising daily at <\/span>3:00 AM<\/span><\/st1:time> to pronounce\ncurses against John McCain and Sarah Palin<\/span>.  In\nthat same Coffee Break, I invited those of you who will to join us in sending\nthose curses back where they came from.  Today I'd like to take a few\nminutes and share with you some of my own personal experiences in this realm.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

Anyway, Good Morning, all you Blessed<\/span>\nPeople!  Sorta<\/span><\/span> got started there a bit different than normal.<\/span>  Pull\nup a chair, set a spell, and pour yourself a cup of this good Columbian brew.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

By my best recollection, the year was 1980.  The\nAlaska Pipeline was in full operation and oil was flowing out of the <\/span>Prudhoe Bay<\/span><\/st1:place> fields at near\npipeline capacity.  The economic benefit to <\/span>America<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> was enormous because we now had a huge source of domestic oil\nflowing to replace oil we'd been buying abroad.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

I was heading up <\/span>CBN<\/span><\/span><\/st1:stockticker>'s<\/span><\/span> operations in Alaska, growing the\nbroadcast ministry of the 700 Club throughout Alaskan communities primarily\nthrough the profits from two businesses -- Arctic Slope Audio (a retail\nelectronics business) and North Slope Communications (a UHF-VHF business radio\ncommunication supplier for government and corporate entities) -- and pastoring<\/span> Inupiat Christian Center in Barrow at the same\ntime.  Wheww<\/span>!  I look back now and wonder\nhow I kept up with it all.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

The business operations and broadcast ministry were both\nin high gear, but it was the ministry at <\/span>Inupiat<\/span><\/st1:PlaceName> <\/span>Christian<\/span><\/st1:PlaceName> <\/span>Center<\/span><\/st1:PlaceName><\/st1:place> that was creating a furor amongst religious people.  We\nwere dealing with some pretty heavy demonic activity in the arctic, and the\nministry of deliverance -- by itself -- provokes controversy.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

As the opposition to our ministry in the realm of\ndeliverance increased, our family began receiving hate mail and death threats\non a consistent basis.  I can't even begin to tell you how many times I\nanswered the phone only to hear a muffled voice on the other end of the line\nsaying something like, "The next time you step out the door, you're going\nto get a bullet through the face," or perhaps, "You're a dead man,\nyou know."<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

My children began to be threatened and attacked. \nDebbie -- our oldest daughter (and an adopted Eskimo -- was shot at six\ntimes.  Chris and Melodie<\/span> were assaulted on\nnumerous occasions on their way home from school.  There were a couple of\ntimes when they came home bruised and bloodied after being attacked in the dark\n(this was during the 66-day dark cycle when the sun never rises<\/span>). \nYoung men in their twenties would lie in wait for them knowing the route they\nwalked coming home from school, grab them, pick them up and throw them in\nmid-air against the side of a building repeatedly, and then run away.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

Accusations of criminal activity were being leveled\nagainst me.  I'll never forget the day there was a knock at the\ndoor.  When I answered, there were two police officers with guns drawn and\npointed at me, demanding to come in and search my home.  Whatever the\naccusation was, the most mystifying part was the fact that in the process of\nraiding our bedroom, they took sheets, bedding and clothing, bagged them up and\nwalked out the door without a word.  We never got an explanation, and the\nitems were never returned.  No charges were ever filed.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

Driving down the street one day, headed toward our retail\nbusiness (Arctic Slope Audio), a rifle shot rang out, and a bullet penetrated\nthe van I was driving just inches behind me.  A few weeks later, I was in\na construction shack on land we had acquired for building a new church going\nover the drawings of the planned building with one of the elders in our church. \nWe were standing in front of a window talking, and suddenly pulled back from\neach other.  It was an involuntary and spontaneous thing -- obviously\norchestrated by the Holy Spirit.  As we drew back from each other, the\nwindow exploded between us and a bullet narrowly missed me.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

I opened the door, looked out, and saw a man standing\nabout 300 feet away with a rifle and scope aimed at me.  I hollered at\nhim, "Hey!  What do you think you're doing?" and took off\nrunning towards him.  It obviously was not what he was expecting and\nshocked him.  He dropped the rifle as he turned to run in the opposite\ndirection.  He reached down, snatched up the weapon, took off running\naround the corner to a waiting vehicle and took off.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

If I were to say that things were getting pretty intense,\nyou could easily appreciate it.  Pardon me for getting so graphic here,\nbut I'm drawing a picture to help you understand the nature of this spiritual\nopposition.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

It was about the same time as this latter event that Scott\nHessek<\/span> called me from <\/span>CBN<\/span><\/st1:stockticker> in <\/span>Virginia Beach<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:City>.  Scott was the guy who initially hooked me up with <\/span>CBN<\/span><\/st1:stockticker> in the fall of\n1976, and he and I had become pretty close friends.  He called me to let\nme know that Pat Robertson had just had a guest on the 700 Club who'd returned\nfrom a trip to <\/span>Russia<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>.  During the pre-show discussion (and again after the\nprogram had ended), this man had shared how he had learned of a group of men\nand women -- practicing witches, psychics, warlocks, etc. -- had decided to\nexperiment with their so-called "psychic" power.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

They had a hatred of <\/span>America<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> and decided to focus a series of curses against <\/span>America<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>'s economy by specifically targeting the <\/span>Alaska<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:State>\npipeline.  They were commanding the pipeline to blow up and cursing it on\na daily basis.  They were also cursing Christian leaders in <\/span>Alaska<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:State>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

Scott said to me, "Brother, I know you're going\nthrough it right now, but hang in there.  God has positioned you for the\ndefense of believers, and to protect the pipeline.  Now you know where the\nopposition is coming from, and you know how to deal with it."<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

It wasn't much later when I received another phone call --\nthis one from a Pastor Thornton in <\/span>Kennewick<\/span><\/st1:City>, <\/span>Washington<\/span><\/st1:State><\/st1:place>.  We'd never met, I didn't know him (in fact, never heard\nof him), and he didn't know me.  The Holy Spirit awakened him that\nmorning, gave him my name and phone number and gave him a vision of what I was\ngoing through and standing against.  His word to me was something like\nthis, "Brother, we don't know each other, but the Lord obviously knows\nyou.  You are standing in the gap for God's people.  The Lord spoke\nto Ezekiel one day and told him that He was searching for someone who would\nstand in the gap for His people.  In that instance, He told Ezekiel he had\nnot found anyone.  In this instance, He found you and you agreed. \nYou are engaged in warfare against the enemy, and God wants you to know you are\nwinning!  Stand fast, my brother.  Stand fast!  The victory has\nbeen given you."<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

I immediately called our church fellowship together for a\nweek of fasting and prayer.  The following Sunday, we went as a group to\nthe beach and stretched our hands out towards the general direction of <\/span>Russia<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>.  We spoke with one voice and in full accord, "We\ncancel out this curse in the name of Jesus and send it back where it came\nfrom.  Whatever the Enemy has intended for harm here, we command it to\nreturn upon him."<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

We then asked the Lord to show up in the midst of those practicers<\/span> of the occult and display His power and glory in\nsuch a manner as to halt their evil activities.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

Within a matter of weeks the following events appeared in\nthe local and national news.  The first event was a report that the FBI\nhad learned of a plot to blow up the pipeline.  They caught the\nconspirators no more than hours or days before they would have created an explosion\nthat would have taken the pipeline out of commission for many months.  The\nFBI investigators found plastic explosives already in place with\nradio-controlled triggers set to detonate at various key points.  The plot\nwas interrupted before the devices could be set off.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

The next event reported in the news was that there had\nbeen a massive explosion on the Siberian oil pipeline.  The destruction\nwas such that it put the pipeline more than a year behind schedule.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

The third report came months later.  We heard via\nsome ministers in <\/span>Russia<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> that the group of witches, warlocks and psychics had broken\nup.  Apparently the Lord showed up in their midst (we never heard the\nexact details) in such a way that it scared the living daylights out of\nthem.  Whatever God did, He ended their demonic conspiracy against the <\/span>USA<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>, against the Alaska Pipeline, and against Christian leaders.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

The whole experience ended for me any question of the\nauthority we have in Christ Jesus over the power of Satan -- no matter where or\nhow he seeks to employ it.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

When Flo<\/span> Ellers<\/span>\nsent out the email (and Jim Bramlett<\/span> forwarded it on\nto me) concerning the meeting and the report that came from Bree<\/span>\nKeyton<\/span> concerning the curses being pronounced upon\nJohn McCain and Sarah Palin<\/span> by those witches, warlocks,\nshamans and practicers<\/span> of the occult in Mombassa,\nKenya, it brought back a flood of memories of my own experiences in Barrow,\nAlaska, and the effectiveness we had as a small group of believers in reversing\nthe curses.  Flo<\/span> was kind enough to send me a CD\nrecorded during Bree's<\/span> meeting (I contacted her\nfollowing the email) and I listened to her report as she detailed her\nexperiences in <\/span>Kenya<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>.  I realized that it was time to mobilize Christians\neverywhere to exercise their authority in Christ Jesus.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

When Jesus taught the disciples to pray, the very first\nthing they were commanded to pray was, "Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done\non earth as it is in Heaven."  By instructing prayer in this manner,\nJesus made it clear that God restricts his involvement in the affairs of men to\nthe way His people pray.  He certainly has the power to come banging out\nof Heaven and force His will on earth, but that would defeat His objective for\na people who love Him and choose His will of their own volition.  Hence,\nhe awaits the praise and worship, the prayers and the intercession of His\npeople acting in concert and agreement with Him so that His will can be enacted\non earth (and in <\/b>earth -- us!) as it is already enacted in\nHeaven.  His Kingdom already rules in Heaven, but He expects us to act in\nagreement and in accord with His will in order to implement that will on the\nearth.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

We don't have to be timid at all about reversing curses\nsent against God's people, against this nation and against those whom God has\nchosen for leadership.  The final authority to cancel out those curses is\nours.  Let's go back to the verses with which we began this Coffee\nBreak.  Curses are "causeless" (Hebrew: <\/span>chinnam<\/span><\/i><\/span>:<\/span><\/i> <\/span>devoid of cost, where innocence exists, for no reason<\/span><\/u>) when we are covered by the blood of Jesus, when we meet God's\nconditions, and when we exercise the authority of the Throne of God in\naccordance with His will.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

Take a look at the effort of Balak<\/span>\n(Numbers 23), the King of the Moabites, to bring a curse upon <\/span>Israel<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>.  He was deathly afraid of <\/span>Israel<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> -- particularly after seeing how <\/span>Israel<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> was destroying nations far more powerful than they.  Balak<\/span> knew that <\/span>Israel<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>'s ability to defeat these nations was supernatural, that it\ncame from a God far more powerful than the ones he and the Moabites\nserved.  He decided, therefore, in his ignorance of God and God's blessing\nupon His people, that he would find a prophet in <\/span>Israel<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> who could be bought.  Since that prophet would speak from\nsome (imagined) magical power, whatever curse or incantation he spoke would\ncome to pass.  He would therefore have that prophet pronounce a curse upon\n<\/span>Israel<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

Folks, this is the root of all curses.  Fear! \nParalyzing fear!  Only those who have an unholy terror of God and His\nrighteousness, and want nothing to do with Him and His people, seek to curse\nthose people who live under the blessing of God.  Why else do you think\nevil and wicked individuals are attempting to cast spells and curse John McCain\nand Sarah Palin<\/span>?  They've both taken a stand for\nrighteousness and righteous issues.  Whether they have\nfailings in other areas or not, they've put themselves squarely on God's side.<\/span> \nThat makes them the target of those who are afraid of God's power and authority\nsweeping this nation and sweeping out the filth that has corrupted our courts,\nour laws and our government.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

When Balaam was seduced by the offers of money, power over\nmen, and the esteem he thought he could get by honoring Balak's<\/span>\nrequest to curse Israel (prophets were feared in Israel, but not highly regarded,\nand they lacked the kind of civil authority that appealed to Balaam), he ran\ninto a brick wall.....literally!  Being a prophet, however, he had the\nanointing of a prophet.  What Balaam didn't realize was that God's\nanointing would not permit him to speak curses against a nation of people in\nwhom -- despite their failings and their sins against God -- the blessing of\nAbraham resided.  (see<\/span> Genesis 12:3)<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

Any effort to curse the people of God using God's power\nand authority would be without cost and without -- and this is the important\naspect! -- reason of guilt because they were answerable to God, and to God\nalone, NOT to any other nation or people!  Thus, when Balaam stood up to\nprophesy under the anointing of God, what came out of his mouth was not curse,\nbut blessing.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

"Rise up, Balak<\/span>, and hear;\nlisten close to me, son of Zippor<\/span>; God is not a man\nthat He should tell or act a lie, neither the son of man that He should feel\nrepentance or compunction [for what He has promised].  Has He said, and\nshall He not do it?  Or has He spoken and shall He not make it good? \nYou see, I have received His command to bless <\/span><\/i><\/b>Israel<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>.  He has blessed, and I cannot reverse or qualify\nit.............<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

"Surely there is no enchantment with or against\nJacob, neither is there any divination with or against <\/span><\/i><\/b>Israel<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>.  [In due season and even] now it shall be said of Jacob\nand of <\/span><\/i><\/b>Israel<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>, What has God wrought!" <\/span><\/i><\/b> (Numbers 23:18-20; 23, Amplified Version)<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

Numbers 24 then goes on to show how Balaam finally\nwillingly yielded to the Spirit of God and commanded the blessing on Israel\nthat Balak<\/span> was trying to prevent, and sent the curse\nthat Balak<\/span> intended back upon the Moabites <\/span>AND<\/span><\/st1:stockticker> all those\nnations that were rising up against the people of God!  The following\nchapter relates the rout of the Moabites in battle and all those who were\nattempting to curse <\/span>Israel<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

Finally, God's command to Israel (see Deuteronomy 23:3-6)\nwas very specific concerning Moab and Ammon<\/span>: <\/span>"An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter into the\ncongregation of the LORD; even to their tenth generation shall they not enter\ninto the congregation of the LORD for ever: Because they met you not with bread\nand with water in the way, when ye came forth out of Egypt; and because they\nhired against thee Balaam the son of Beor<\/span> of Pethor<\/span> of Mesopotamia, to curse thee.  Nevertheless\nthe LORD thy God would not hearken unto Balaam; but the LORD thy God turned the\ncurse into a blessing unto thee, because the LORD thy God loved thee. \nThou shalt<\/span> not seek their peace nor<\/span>\ntheir prosperity all thy days for ever."<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

Yeowch<\/span><\/b><\/span>!! <\/span><\/b> Pretty strong,\nwouldn't you say?  THAT, my friends is how God sees those who attempt to\ncurse His people.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

America<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> was founded as a nation under God.  It was founded for the\npropagation of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.  The efforts of people\nto curse the prospective leaders of this nation just because they represent\nrighteousness and Godly leadership and Godly principles puts them in the same\ncategory as the Moabites and Ammonites.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

That gives us the authority as believers in Jesus Christ\nto send those curses back where they came from and to declare and decree\ninstead the blessing of the Lord upon John McCain and Sarah Palin<\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

Fellow Christians, will you agree with me on this? \nWill you stand with us here at <\/span>River<\/span><\/st1:PlaceType> <\/span>Worship<\/span><\/st1:PlaceName> <\/span>Center<\/span><\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place> against these intended and causeless curses, instead declaring\nthe blessing and favor of the Lord upon our next President and Vice-President?<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n

Thank you.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n
