Next week, (August 6 - 11) we\nhost the Southwest Believers Convention from Fort Worth here at River Worship <span\nclass=SpellE>Center.<\/span>&nbsp; If you live in the Yakima Valley or anywhere\nnear here, come on over and join <span class=SpellE>us.<\/span>&nbsp; The\nmorning sessions will begin at 7:00 and run until about 10:00.&nbsp; The\nafternoon sessions will begin at 12:00 <\/span><st1:time Hour=\"12\" Minute=\"00\"><span\n style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;\n color:#663300'>Noon<\/span><\/st1:time><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\nGaramond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;color:#663300'> and last until 2:30 -\n3:00.&nbsp; We<\/span> won't be back until August 27th.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>That same day, the 27th, our daughter-in-law, <span\nclass=SpellE>Chelsi<\/span> <span class=SpellE>Capener<\/span>, is due to arrive\nfrom <\/span><st1:State><st1:place><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\n  Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;color:#663300'>Alaska<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:State><span\nstyle='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;\ncolor:#663300'> with their (Chris &amp; The<\/span> month of August is such that if I get three or\nfour posts out during the whole month, I will consider that I have done <span\nclass=SpellE>well.<\/span>&nbsp; Things should get back to some semblance of\n&quot;normal&quot; -- whatever that is! -- in <span class=SpellE>September.<\/span>&nbsp;\nMy objective is to finish up this series during these hectic weeks, and then\nbeginning in September head into the series on Kingdom Economics.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>OK.&nbsp; That ought to do it for <span class=SpellE>preliminaries.<\/span>&nbsp;\nCoffee's <span class=SpellE>on.<\/span>&nbsp; The French Press is steaming, and\nit's full of this mix I've been trying of very dark and oily French Roast with\nIndonesian <span class=SpellE>Java.<\/span>&nbsp; The blend has a distinct\nflavor quite different from my usual, and I'm enjoying the <span class=SpellE>break.<\/span>&nbsp;\nPour yourself a cup, and let's get started.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>As noted on Wednesday, Rosa <span class=SpellE>Frankson's<\/span>\ndeath as a direct result of persecution for her faith in Jesus Christ had a\ndramatic impact on the village of Point Hope -- and for that matter, <span\nclass=SpellE>Kotzebue<\/span>.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>Her family as a whole made a strong commitment to Jesus <span\nclass=SpellE>Christ.<\/span><span class=GramE>&nbsp; The<\/span> Episcopal\npriest, who had participated in the persecution and was at least partially\nresponsible for the attacks on Rosa, saw with his own eyes what a real\ncommitment to Jesus Christ was, and what genuine faith produces in an <span\nclass=SpellE>individual.<\/span>&nbsp; It would be an understatement to say\nthat for the first time in his life he experienced true conviction for sin and\nrepented.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>It took him some time, however, to come to the place where\nhe could publicly repent and confess his own need for a real relationship with\nJesus <span class=SpellE>Christ.<\/span><span class=GramE>&nbsp; I'll<\/span>\ncome back to this momentarily.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>And what about the <span class=SpellE>shaman<span\nclass=GramE>?<\/span><\/span>&nbsp; The judgment of God came upon <span\nclass=SpellE>him.<\/span>&nbsp; Like some of the world's leaders we've seen in\nthese modern days who are (have been) totally devoid of any conscience --\nSaddam Hussein, <span class=SpellE>Mahmoud<\/span> <span class=SpellE>Ahmadinejad<\/span>,\n<span class=SpellE>Yasser<\/span> Arafat, et al -- the death of someone like\nRosa <span class=SpellE>Frankson<\/span> meant <span class=SpellE>nothing.<\/span>&nbsp;\nShe was a statistic in his thirst and quest for power and control of the\npeople.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>Something like two months after Rosa's death, the shaman\nwas found to have inoperable <span class=SpellE>cancer.<\/span>&nbsp; My memory\nof the exact sequence in which events unfolded is a bit hazy, but here's what I\n<span class=SpellE>remember.<\/span>&nbsp; Whether he committed suicide or\nwhether someone else did him in before he could simply die of his cancer, there\nwas a fire in his sod <span class=SpellE>hut.<\/span>&nbsp; He died under\nmysterious circumstances, the cause of the fire <span class=SpellE>unknown.<\/span>&nbsp;\nHe was dead only months after Rosa's death, and his death was not mourned in\nthe <span class=SpellE>community.<\/span>&nbsp; No one stepped forward to take\nhis place as the next <span class=SpellE>shaman.<\/span>&nbsp; The demonic\npower he had exercised over the community was broken.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>It may sound strange to put it like that within this\ncontext, so let me <span class=SpellE>explain.<\/span>&nbsp; And pardon me if I\nseem to digress from the story, but I'm not <span class=SpellE>really.<\/span>&nbsp;\nThis will help you understand why the death of one girl -- within the context\nof her being murdered for the Gospel -- had such an enormous impact.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>John <\/span><st1:time Minute=\"10\" Hour=\"10\"><span\n style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;\n color:#663300'>10:10<\/span><\/st1:time><span style='font-size:13.5pt;\nfont-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;color:#663300'> tells us<\/span><span\nstyle='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial'> <\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;\nfont-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;color:#663300'>that<\/span><b><i><span\nstyle='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;\ncolor:#005500'> &quot;The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and\nto destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it\nmore abundantly.&quot;<\/span><\/i><\/b><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>People who, whether by deliberate decision or by\ndeception, think to embrace spiritual power through and by any means other than\na personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ are going to suffer\ndestruction in one way or <span class=SpellE>another.<\/span>&nbsp; The shaman\nhad been exposed to the message of Jesus <span class=SpellE>Christ.<\/span>&nbsp;\nOut of the fear of losing his place of perceived authority and power in the\ncommunity by accepting the promises of Jesus and making Him Lord of his life,\nthe shaman rejected the Lord, choosing instead to hang onto a realm of\nspiritual power that operates only in the demonic.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>The apostle Paul put it like this:<\/span><span\nstyle='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial'> <\/span><b><i><span\nstyle='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;\ncolor:#005500'>&quot;Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of\ndevils: ye cannot be partakers of the <span class=SpellE>Lord's<\/span>\ntable, and of the table of <span class=SpellE>devils.&quot;<\/span><span\nclass=GramE>&nbsp;<span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial;color:windowtext;\nfont-weight:normal;font-style:normal'> <\/span><span style='color:#663300;\nfont-weight:normal;font-style:normal'>(<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b><span\nstyle='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;\ncolor:#663300'>I Corinthians <\/span><st1:time Minute=\"21\" Hour=\"10\"><span\n style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;\n color:#663300'>10:21<\/span><\/st1:time><span style='font-size:13.5pt;\nfont-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;color:#663300'>)<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>Now I realize that I've extracted this quote from Paul\nsomewhat out of context since he was referring to partaking of communion or\nwhat we have come to call, &quot;The Lord's Supper,&quot; but the truth is the <span\nclass=SpellE>same.<\/span>&nbsp; If a person chooses the demonic <span\nclass=SpellE>subnatural<\/span> (I use that term deliberately since to access\ndemonic power lowers our status from being a little lower than God [<\/span><span\nstyle='font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;color:#663300'>Psalm 8:5\nin the Hebrew uses<\/span><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial'> <\/span><span\nclass=SpellE><i><span style='font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;\ncolor:#192763'>Elohim<\/span><\/i><\/span><span style='font-family:Garamond;\nmso-bidi-font-family:Arial;color:#663300'>, meaning &quot;God&quot; -- rather\nthan the traditional word for &quot;angels&quot;:<\/span><span style='font-size:\n10.0pt;font-family:Arial'> <\/span><i><span style='font-family:Garamond;\nmso-bidi-font-family:Arial;color:#192763'>mal '<span class=SpellE>ak<\/span><\/span><\/i><span\nstyle='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;\ncolor:#663300'>] to being lower than the &quot;angel-class,&quot; of which\nSatan is a part.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>That essentially makes people third class beings and --\nsorry to put it this way, but...Oh Well -- sub-humans, living a lifestyle and\nin a status far beneath that which we were designed and created <span\nclass=SpellE>for.<\/span><span class=GramE>&nbsp; Let's<\/span> draw a picture.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>Satan was -- before he was thrown out of Heaven -- known\nby the title, <span class=SpellE>Lucifer.<\/span>&nbsp; This was a title -- NOT\na <span class=SpellE>name.<\/span>&nbsp; The word in Hebrew is<\/span><span\nstyle='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial'> <\/span>\n<span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\nGaramond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;color:#192763'> <i>hey-<span\nclass=SpellE>lel<\/span><\/i><\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\nGaramond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;color:#663300'>, meaning: bright star (the <span\nclass=SpellE>Chaldean<\/span> equivalent is translated: morning star), and comes\nfrom the Hebrew<\/span><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial'> <\/span>\n<span\nstyle='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;\ncolor:#192763'> <i>ha-<span class=SpellE>lal<\/span><\/i>,<\/span><span\nstyle='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial'> <\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;\nfont-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;color:#663300'>which means: to\nshine (musically), hence: to praise, to celebrate, to sing (and by so doing,\ngive light or to illuminate).<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>Without getting too far <span class=SpellE>afield<\/span>\nin this description, Ezekiel (28:14) describes him as having been<\/span><span\nstyle='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial'> <\/span><b><i><span\nstyle='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;\ncolor:#005500'>&quot;the anointed cherub that <span class=SpellE>covereth<\/span>&quot;<\/span><\/i><\/b><span\nstyle='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;\ncolor:#663300'> -- the Hebrew text actually describing him as the one\nresponsible for creating a covering environment -- a surround-sound atmosphere\n(if you'll excuse the metaphor) -- which would surround the Lord with intimate\npraise, worship and adoration, and in so doing, give light and glory to the\nThrone of God.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>The descriptive word &quot;cherub&quot; is actually a\ntransliteration of the Hebrew<\/span><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:\nArial'> <\/span><span class=SpellE><i><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\nGaramond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;color:#192763'>kerub<\/span><\/i><\/span><span\nstyle='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;\ncolor:#663300'>, which describes an angelic being whose created purpose was to\novershadow, to protect, and to minister to the very heart's desire of <span\nclass=SpellE>God.<\/span><span class=GramE>&nbsp; (<\/span>Hence we see the\ncherubim (plural for cherub) overshadowing the Ark of the Covenant, protecting\nand watching over the Covenant that God made with His people.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>Both Isaiah and Ezekiel describe Satan (Lucifer) being\nthrown out of Heaven because of his arrogance in thinking that because he had\nsuch an exalted place -- a place of intimacy and worship close to the heart of\nGod -- there was no reason why he couldn't just take over God's <span\nclass=SpellE>place.<\/span>&nbsp; But he was never created with that kind of\npower or <span class=SpellE>authority.<\/span>&nbsp; When you comb through\nevery description of Satan\/Lucifer\/the Serpent -- by whatever name or\ndescription he is referred -- NEVER do you see him being given dominion or\npower or authority.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>Thus we come back to Jesus' description of him as a thief\nwho<\/span><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial'> <\/span><b><i><span\nstyle='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;\ncolor:#005500'>&quot;cometh not, but for to steal, to kill, and to <span\nclass=SpellE>destroy.&quot;<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b><span style='font-size:13.5pt;\nfont-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;color:#663300'>&nbsp; The ONLY\ndominion or power that he has is that which he has stolen -- that which he has\ngotten by trickery or deceit, that which has been given to him by man.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>No angelic being has ever been given <span class=SpellE>rulership<\/span>,\nauthority or dominion in any way over any of the affairs of <span class=SpellE>man.<\/span>&nbsp;\nIn fact, Paul -- writing to the Hebrews -- says,<\/span><span style='font-size:\n10.0pt;font-family:Arial'> <\/span><b><i><span style='font-size:13.5pt;\nfont-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;color:#192763'>&quot;Are they\nnot all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs\nof <span class=SpellE>salvation?&quot;<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b><span class=GramE><span\nstyle='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;\ncolor:#663300'>&nbsp; (<\/span><\/span><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:\nGaramond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;color:#663300'>Hebrews <\/span><st1:time\nMinute=\"14\" Hour=\"13\"><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;\n mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;color:#663300'>1:14<\/span><\/st1:time><span\nstyle='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;\ncolor:#663300'>)<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>Thus, any authority or power given to the angels who are\navailable to be sent forth on our behalf to accomplish whatever we need or\ndesire MUST come from us as heirs and joint-heirs with Jesus <span\nclass=SpellE>Christ.<\/span>&nbsp; Adam ceded his authority and dominion to <span\nclass=SpellE>Satan.<\/span>&nbsp; Everyone born in the human race thereafter\nfell under Satan's illegally-gained dominion until Jesus came and took it back\naway from him, making the restored place of relationship (and with it, the\noriginally-given authority and power) to all who would acknowledge His selfless\nact of love and confess His Lordship in their lives.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>The shaman in Point Hope operated solely through the <span\nclass=SpellE>facade<\/span> of Satan's illegally acquired <span class=SpellE>power.<\/span><span\nclass=GramE>&nbsp; It<\/span> was a tenuous power at best, totally subject to\nthe authority of the Lord Jesus <span class=SpellE>Christ.<\/span>&nbsp; When\nthe shaman conspired in Rosa <span class=SpellE>Frankson's<\/span> death, he\nmurdered a young girl who had totally given herself to the Lord Jesus <span\nclass=SpellE>Christ.<\/span>&nbsp; When she gave herself to the Lord, Satan's\nauthority or power in her life was broken.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>I don't remember if it was Bob Jones or Todd Bentley who\nshared a recent experience in which one of them was at the bedside of a brother\nin the Lord whose life was snuffed out by the hand of <span class=SpellE>Satan.<\/span><span\nclass=GramE>&nbsp; Whether<\/span> it was Bob or Todd who saw this, there was a\nvery clear vision of the Lord appearing at the bedside of the individual who\nwas killed, pointing His finger at Satan and saying, &quot;That's going to cost\nyou!&quot;<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>That is precisely what happened in Point <span\nclass=SpellE>Hope.<\/span><span class=GramE>&nbsp; When<\/span> Satan employed\nthe shaman (and got the local priest to cooperate in the endeavor) to take Rosa\n<span class=SpellE>Frankson<\/span> out, the Lord literally said to him,\n&quot;That's going to cost you -- BIG TIME!&quot;<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>Did it <span class=SpellE>ever!<\/span>&nbsp; Those people\nwhom the shaman sought to keep under his control, manipulation and sorcery were\nlost entirely to Satan's power when -- as a result of Rosa's stand for Jesus\nChrist in the midst of persecution to the death -- they saw true life for the\nfirst time in their <span class=SpellE>lives.<\/span>&nbsp; They realized that\nthe power of Satan -- the power that was being exercised by the shaman -- was\nall fakery and fraud, and that there was no real life and liberty in contrast\nto what Rosa <span class=SpellE>Frankson<\/span> demonstrated and refused to\ngive up even at the cost of her life.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>That, Folks, is the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ on\n<span class=SpellE>display<span class=GramE>!<\/span><\/span>&nbsp; When people\nhave an opportunity see clearly the reality of life and freedom in Christ Jesus\nand compare it to the imitation and counterfeit they've lived, they'll choose\nlife and liberty in Jesus <span class=SpellE>Christ!<\/span>&nbsp; There is a\nhuge difference between information and <span class=SpellE>revelation.<\/span>&nbsp;\nSatan operates through <span class=SpellE>information.<\/span>&nbsp; Jesus\noperates through <span class=SpellE>revelation.<\/span>&nbsp; The difference is\nnight and day!<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>Had the shaman repented as the Episcopal priest did, he\nneed not have died the horrible death he <span class=SpellE>suffered.<\/span>&nbsp;\nAs it was, Satan fulfilled again Jesus' very clear description of him as a\nthief, a murderer, and a destroyer by snuffing out the life of the shaman, who\nfailed to accomplish Satan's goal of stopping the Gospel in Point <span\nclass=SpellE>Hope.<\/span>&nbsp; The shaman was, after all, Satan's property\nand Satan had every right to do with him what he <span class=SpellE>wanted.<\/span>&nbsp;\nLike the idiot he is, Satan killed his own slave.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>Rosa's death followed by the shaman's death could not\npossibly have provided Point Hope with a better illustration and contrast\nbetween the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of <span class=SpellE>Satan.<\/span><span\nclass=GramE>&nbsp; The<\/span> subsequent response of the community in turning\nto the Lord Jesus Christ resulted in a move of the Holy Spirit that caused\noverflow conditions in the church we had <span class=SpellE>built.<\/span>&nbsp;\nThere simply was not enough seating room to accommodate everyone.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>Thus it came about that Dad was compelled to prepare for a\nnew building for Point <span class=SpellE>Hope.<\/span><span class=GramE>&nbsp;\nHaving<\/span> seen what the Lord was doing in Barrow and Wainwright had alerted\nhim early on to be prepared for growth.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>The decision was made to come up with a two-storey church\nbuilding that would accommodate all of the present and foreseeable future <span\nclass=SpellE>needs.<\/span><span class=GramE>&nbsp; It<\/span> wouldn't need to\nbe as big as the second building we had done in Barrow, but it needed to be\nmore than twice the size of the existing <span class=SpellE>buildings.<\/span>&nbsp;\nThe former or first building we had erected in Point Hope would be converted to\nmore comfortable living quarters as the new church building was erected and\noccupied.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>In the summer of 1961, therefore, Dad placed an order for\nbuilding supplies to be shipped via the North Star and delivered in <span\nclass=SpellE>September.<\/span>&nbsp; I may sound like a broken record, but\nguess who was there to help us build <span class=SpellE>again?<\/span>&nbsp; <span\nclass=SpellE>Yup.<\/span>&nbsp; Luke <span class=SpellE>Ikpik.<\/span>&nbsp;\nThere were no direct flights from Barrow to Point Hope, so he went from Barrow\nto Fairbanks, to Nome, to <span class=SpellE>Kotzebue<\/span>, and -- finally --\nto Point Hope, a distance of roughly 1300 miles just to cover what should have\nbeen a 350-mile trip.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>The new, two-storey building was up and the roof tarred in\neleven <span class=SpellE>days.<\/span><span class=GramE>&nbsp; There<\/span>\nwas a mishap along the way, and I think I'll save that story for another <span\nclass=SpellE>time.<\/span>&nbsp; Suffice it to say that we saw the provision of\nthe Lord at every turn and His intervention in every opposing <span\nclass=SpellE>circumstance.<\/span>&nbsp; When the new building was opened up\nfor services for the first time, the place was full just like we'd seen twice\nin Barrow, and again in <span class=SpellE>Wainwright.<\/span>&nbsp; God was on\nthe move in Point Hope.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>But, <span class=SpellE>wait<span class=GramE>!<\/span><\/span>&nbsp;\nI think I'm forgetting <span class=SpellE>something.<\/span>&nbsp; What about\nthe Episcopal <span class=SpellE>priest?<\/span>&nbsp; In 1963 my folks decided\nto take a vacation break in &quot;the lower 48&quot; (since Alaska was now a\nstate, we referred to the contiguous 48 states thus).&nbsp; Dad asked Dwain\nMcKenzie -- of whom I have often written -- to fill in for them during their\nbreak.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>My recollection of some of the details of these events was\na bit hazy, so I called Dwain today and had him refresh those details since he\nwas an integral part of what happened.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>The Episcopal priest -- we'll refer to him only by his\nfirst name, Keith -- and Dwain had become friends and got together frequently\nto <span class=SpellE>share.<\/span>&nbsp; In the summer of 1963, Keith became\nsick and had to be hospitalized in <span class=SpellE>Kotzebue.<\/span>&nbsp;\nDennis Bennett, who was the Rector of Saint Luke's Episcopal Church in Seattle\nat the time (and whose experience of receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit\nhad become part of the birthing of the Charismatic movement) &quot;just\nhappened&quot; (<span class=SpellE>Uhh<\/span>, <span class=SpellE>Huhh<\/span>, <span\nclass=SpellE>Riiiiiiigghhhhttt<\/span>!) to be in <span class=SpellE>Kotzebue<\/span>\nat the time sharing his experiences in the local Episcopal church.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>Keith couldn't attend, being in the hospital at the time,\nbut his wife decided to go and check things <span class=SpellE>out.<\/span>&nbsp;\nShe came back to the hospital and said to Keith, &quot;I don't know what it is\nexactly, but there's something <b>really<\/b> different about Father <span\nclass=SpellE>Bennett.<\/span>&nbsp; He's tapped into the power of <span\nclass=SpellE>God!&quot;<\/span>&nbsp; A second visit and time of sharing with\nDennis Bennett generated a thirst in her that wouldn't quit, and she\ncommunicated it to Keith.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>After being released from the hospital in <span\nclass=SpellE>Kotzebue<\/span> and returning to Point Hope, he came over to see <span\nclass=SpellE>Dwain.<\/span><span class=GramE>&nbsp; &quot;<\/span>We want to\nreceive the Holy Spirit,&quot; he said, &quot;and I want to share this with our\nchurch, but I can't do this without <span class=SpellE>you.<\/span>&nbsp; Will\nyou come and speak at our church and lay hands on us to receive the Holy\nSpirit?&quot;<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>For Dwain, it was a stupendous <span class=SpellE>opportunity.<\/span><span\nclass=GramE>&nbsp; That<\/span> following Sunday evening, he (and folks who had\nalready been baptized in the Holy Spirit who were now a part of the A\/G church)\nwent to the Episcopal church to minister on the life and the gifts of the Holy <span\nclass=SpellE>Spirit.<\/span>&nbsp; When he finished sharing, Keith and his wife\nwere the first to stand in <span class=SpellE>line.<\/span>&nbsp; Many of the\npeople who were part of that church got in line right behind them.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>As Dwain laid hands on them, each of them -- beginning\nwith Keith and his wife -- received the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other\ntongues exactly as had taken place on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2).&nbsp;\nThink the village of Point Hope had been <span class=SpellE>transformed?<\/span>&nbsp;\nBetter believe it!<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>But none of this -- NONE OF THIS -- happened until a\n12-going-on-13 year old girl named Rosa <span class=SpellE>Frankson<\/span>\nstood her ground in the face of death threats, persecution, beatings, and --\nultimately -- her own death at the hands of her persecutors to say with her\nactions and her voice, &quot;JESUS CHRIST IS LORD!&quot;<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>The power of Satan had been broken over Point <span\nclass=SpellE>Hope.<\/span>&nbsp; The shaman who was the driving force behind\nthe persecution was <span class=SpellE>dead.<\/span>&nbsp; The boys who had\nacted as the shaman's servants to carry out the beatings had repented and come\nto a genuine experience of salvation in Jesus <span class=SpellE>Christ.<\/span>&nbsp;\nThe Episcopal priest who had been part of Rosa's persecution came to know Jesus\nChrist personally, had repented publicly, and had been baptized in the Holy <span\nclass=SpellE>Spirit.<\/span>&nbsp; Most of the people who had remained with the\nEpiscopal church had also come into a genuine experience of salvation, and many\nof them were baptized in the Holy Spirit.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>The cloud of darkness that had once hung over the\ncommunity had been exploded into <span class=SpellE>nothingness.<\/span>&nbsp;\nThe presence of the Lord now filled the place, and His presence was tangible in\nPoint Hope.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n\n<p><span style='font-size:13.5pt;font-family:Garamond;mso-bidi-font-family:\nArial;color:#663300'>In our next Coffee Break, we'll finish the Point Hope\nstory, and then take you on to Saint Paul Island in the <span class=SpellE>Pribilofs.<\/span>&nbsp;\nI can't promise that we'll get any posts out next week because of the\nconference, but we will <span class=SpellE>try.<\/span>&nbsp;
