 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

This has been a long\nadventure.\u00a0 <\/span>When the Lord first began to\nunfold the prophetic significance of the 23rd Psalm and its picture as a\nlifelong adventure, I had no idea it was going to expand into the study it has\nbecome.\u00a0 <\/span>We've been at this for well over\na year.\u00a0 <\/span>Hopefully, we will wrap this up\nby the end of next week.<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

FINALLY!!\n<\/span><\/b>We\nhave come to the last phase of this adventure.\u00a0\n<\/span>This is what it has been all about.\u00a0\n<\/span>This has been our objective from the very first day we declared,\ndecreed, and entered into this Covenant relationship with the Lord Jesus\nChrist, when we said, <\/span>The Lord is my Shepherd<\/span>!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It\nhas cost us everything to get here.\u00a0 <\/span>We\nhave had to overcome our flesh.\u00a0 <\/span>We have\nhad to overcome the Enemy.\u00a0 <\/span>We have had\nto overcome every kind of opposition \u2014 both in the natural, and in the\nspirit.\u00a0 <\/span>We have had to overcome\nreligious indoctrination and social programming which have worked steadily\nthroughout the years to contravene what God has been developing in us.\u00a0 <\/span>We have had to overcome every kind of fear\nand stand in the face of the unknown more times than we could possibly count.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And\nit has been worth it!\u00a0 <\/span>Now we get to\ndwell with the Lord forever!\u00a0 <\/span>Now we get\nto know the merging experience on a permanent basis where we are totally\nimmersed in Jesus Christ, and He is immersed in us.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

How\nwas it that David put it?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And I WILL dwell in the House of the Lord forever<\/span>!<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Take\na look at how this amplifies from the Hebrew.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And I will settle myself (and be settled) permanently, I will\ninhabit and abide in the family dwelling of Yod He Vav He (Jehovah) throughout\ntime immemorial \u2014 throughout eternity, and throughout the eternity of the\neternities.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>(Psalm 23:6b, RAC\nTranslation & Amplification)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Understand?\u00a0 <\/span>This is not talking about going to\nHeaven.\u00a0 <\/span>Heaven is inclusive, of course,\nand all that comes thereafter, but what David sees and describes is a\n\u201chere-and-now\u201d event which continues into eternity. Heaven has never been our\nobjective.\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus is our objective!\u00a0 <\/span>Being joined to Him NOW is our\nobjective.\u00a0 <\/span>Dwelling with Him, and in\nHim, and He in us, NOW, is our objective.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I\nfeel bad for preachers and teachers who make the statement, \u201cYou need to get\nsaved so you can go to Heaven.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>They\njust don\u2019t get it.\u00a0 <\/span>If a person accepts\nJesus Christ and walks with Him, and then dies, there simply is no other place\nto go.\u00a0 <\/span>It is automatic!\u00a0 <\/span>Heaven is not an objective.\u00a0 <\/span>Heaven is \u201chome base\u201d \u2014 if I can put it that\nway \u2014 for eternity.\u00a0 <\/span>Heaven is a\nstopover.\u00a0 <\/span>What God has had awaiting the\nCovenant believer so far transcends Heaven that words fail.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Far\ntoo many \u201cChristians\u201d \u2014 and I qualify that term \u2014 have \u201caccepted\u201d Jesus Christ,\nbut never made Him to be the Lord and Shepherd of their lives.\u00a0 <\/span>They frequently fret and worry over what\nmight happen to them when they fail the Lord or screw up in some significant\nway.\u00a0 <\/span>They\u2019ve never developed an\nunderstanding of the goodness and mercy of the Lord.\u00a0 <\/span>They\u2019ve never come to know the peace of God\nthat passes all human understanding and natural reasoning.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Years\nago, we used to sing from the 89th Psalm, \u201c<\/span>I will sing of the\nmercies of the Lord forever: with my mouth will I make known Thy faithfulness\nto all generations.<\/span>\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I\u2019ve\nshared bits and pieces of my travels in the mid-1990\u2019s where, for more than\nthree months, I traveled with the Lord throughout time, and even past the end\nof time to see what lies before us in the eternity of the eternities.\u00a0 <\/span>We\u2019ve talked about the thousand-year reign of\nthe Lord (which is not far away) and the fact that this is OJT for God\u2019s people\n\u2014 \u201cOn-the-Job-Training\u201d!\u00a0 <\/span>This is a\npreparatory period for the future.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let\nme digress for a moment.\u00a0 <\/span>You may recall\nthat I saw time as an envelope.\u00a0 <\/span>Time is\nnothing more than a container for sin.\u00a0\n<\/span>When Satan attempted to take the Throne of God and usurp God\u2019s place, he\nand his angels with thrown out of Heaven to the earth.\u00a0 <\/span>When Adam and Eve succumbed to the treachery\nand seduction of the Serpent in the Garden, time essentially began at that\npoint.\u00a0 <\/span>Satan and his angels became\ntrapped forever in chains \u2014 the chains of time.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\nall know about Satan being cast into a pit at the beginning of the thousand\nyears and imprisoned there until he gets released at the end of that period to\nmake war on the Saints.\u00a0 <\/span>But that\nthousand years is scarcely a blink in eternity.\u00a0\n<\/span>And when time comes to an end, Satan will be cast into the Lake of Fire\nfor eternity.\u00a0 <\/span>He will never have access\nto Heaven, or to the Heavenlies, and he will never have access to roam about\nthe universe and the interfere with the plans God has made, and the destiny He\nhas chosen for us throughout the eternity of the eternities.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Are\nyou seeing the picture?\u00a0 <\/span>Time is measured\nin seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, centuries,\nmillennia.\u00a0 <\/span>None of that applies to us\nany longer.\u00a0 <\/span>We were created in the very\nbeginning to be eternity-based beings.\u00a0\n<\/span>This whole process of walking with the Lord from the moment we entered\ninto this Covenant with the decree, <\/span>The Lord is my\nShepherd<\/span>,\nhas been designed to restore us from time-based and time-thinking beings to\neternity-based and eternity-thinking beings.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nHouse of the Lord, and dwelling with the Lord throughout eternity was\nconstantly in David\u2019s spirit.\u00a0 <\/span>Consider\nsome of the things that he wrote in the Psalms:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Psalm 27:4-6<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>One thing<\/i> have\nI desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of\nthe LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to\ninquire in his temple.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

For in the time of\ntrouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall\nhe hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And now shall mine\nhead be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in\nhis tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto\nthe LORD.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

You\nsee what David sees?\u00a0 <\/span>He was not looking\nat this as some far-off future event!\u00a0 <\/span>He\nsaw it as a real, present, \u201chere-and-now\u201d way of living.\u00a0 <\/span>He saw the reality of dwelling in the House\nof the Lord forever as something that he could experience in this present\nrealm.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Psalm 92:13-15<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>Those that be\nplanted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

They shall still\nbring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

To show that the LORD\nis<\/i> upright: he is<\/i> my rock, and there is<\/i> no unrighteousness\nin him.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Again\nDavid describes this as a present-day reality and a matter of fact.\u00a0 <\/span>He describes the blessing of the Lord that\nthey bring to the world around them by virtue of their dwelling in the House of\nthe Lord.\u00a0 <\/span>He reinforces this with the\nfollowing statement in the 118th Psalm.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Psalm 118:26<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>Blessed\nbe<\/i> he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of\nthe house of the LORD.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let\u2019s\npause here to make a distinction in the use of this phraseology.\u00a0 <\/span>The term, \u201cThe House of the Lord,\u201d was used\ninterchangeably throughout the Old Testament to refer to the Tabernacle of\nMoses, the Tabernacle of David, and the Temple.\u00a0\n<\/span>David DOES use it this way in some of the references we see in the Psalms,\nand this is a term which appears 213 times in the Old Testament.\u00a0 <\/span>However, when David refers to dwelling in the\nHouse of the Lord, he is not talking about setting up housekeeping in the\nTabernacle.\u00a0 <\/span>He is referring to an\nongoing, intimate, permanent indwelling with the Lord, Himself.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Psalm\n23 is a vivid picture of the process and the processes that are an essential\npart of our development so that our existence becomes synonymous with the Lord\nJesus Christ.\u00a0 <\/span>He is us, and we are Him!\u00a0 <\/span>Everything we say and do becomes an extension\nof Him.\u00a0 <\/span>We become His presence in the\nworld today.\u00a0 <\/span>We are so much \u201cHim,\u201d and\nHe is so much \u201cus\u201d that you cannot separate between us.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let\u2019s\ntake this picture a bit farther and consider what John saw when he wrote the\nRevelation.\u00a0 <\/span>In the sixth of the seven\nletters in Revelation 3, the Lord is speaking to the Ekklesia in Philadelphia,\nand what He speaks is a mouthful!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Revelation 3:7-13<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0\n<\/span><\/span>And to the angel of the (Ekklesia) in Philadelphia write; These\nthings saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David,\nhe that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth; <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>I know thy works:\nbehold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou\nhast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say\nthey are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and\nworship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.\u00a0 <\/span>Because thou hast kept the word of my\npatience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come\nupon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no\nman tae thy crown.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my\nGod, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God,\nand the name of the city of my God, which is<\/i> new Jerusalem, which cometh\ndown out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him<\/i> my new name.\nHe that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the (Ekklesia).<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In\ncase you hadn\u2019t noticed it, this is the only one of the seven letters in which\nthe Lord references \u201cthe Key of David.\u201d\u00a0\n<\/span>This is extremely important to our understanding the overcoming that has\nbrought us here, and the means by which we have been able to overcome our\nflesh, the Enemy, the mental, emotional, spiritual and physical obstacles, as\nwell as the religious programming and social and cultural mindsets which have\nattempted to interfere.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

What\nis \u201cthe Key of David?\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>We get a glimpse\nof this in Psalm 63, which we sing from time to time in our fellowship.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Psalm 63:1-2, 8<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>O\nGod, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee<\/u>,\nmy flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is<\/u>;\u00a0 <\/span>To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have\nseen thee in the sanctuary.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

My soul followeth\nhard after thee<\/span><\/u>: thy right hand upholdeth me.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

You\nsee the phraseology that David uses?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

1.<\/span> My soul thirsteth\nfor thee.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

2.<\/span> My flesh longeth\nfor thee.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

3.<\/span> My soul followeth\nhard after thee.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That\nsame picture appears in Psalm 42.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Psalm 42:1-2<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>As\nthe hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O\nGod.<\/u><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

My soul thirsteth for\nGod<\/span><\/u>, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Here\u2019s\nthat same phraseology again:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

1.<\/span> \u00a0 <\/span>So panteth my soul after Thee, O God.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>2.\u00a0\n<\/span>My soul thirsteth for God.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\ncry in David\u2019s being from the time of his childhood was to be joined to the\nheart of the Lord.\u00a0 <\/span>He saw into the very\nheartbeat of the Lord.\u00a0 <\/span>He knew God\u2019s\ndesire, and he wanted that desire to be fulfilled.\u00a0 <\/span>More than life itself, David sought to\nfulfill the heart of the Lord.\u00a0 <\/span>He\nunderstood the nature of worship in a way that no one before, or after him in\nthe generations prior to the coming of Messiah understood.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nheart of the Lord was so fixed in David that when he became King over Israel,\nhis first priority was to re-take the Ark of the Covenant, set it before all\nIsrael on a high and readily visible peak in Jerusalem in a simple tent with\nthe flaps open so that Israel could see a visual representation of the Covenant\nof marriage that God had for them.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That\nsimple tent became \u201cthe Tabernacle of David.\u201d\u00a0\n<\/span>He surrounded it night and day,<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

24-hours\nper day, with three families of praisers and worshipers \u2014 the families of\nAsaph, Heman and Jeduthun \u2014 who shared his heart and vision.\u00a0 <\/span>Their assignment and permanent occupation\n(David paid them salaries so that they would never have to worry about working\nat other secular jobs and have to leave the praise and worship) was to minister\nunto the Lord non-stop on a rotating basis.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

He\nestablished something that became the standard for generations of kings who\nfollowed.\u00a0 <\/span>(We will revisit this whole\npicture in the weeks to come, and I may do an addendum to this series titled,\nThe Key of David.)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 In order to understand the\nsignificance of David\u2019s statement that mercy would follow all the days of his\nlife, let\u2019s look beyond David\u2019s life for a minute before we actually consider\nsome of the events that transpired for DaTake a look at something that Paul was\npreaching when he and Barnabas went to the city of Pisidia.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n
