Spiritual Hierarchy & Authority, Part 7<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

We barely got started last week with\nthe picture of Haman as the last of the Amalekites and his finish.\u00a0 <\/span>We started the picture of his conspiracy in\nEsther 3, and we will pick that up again.\u00a0\n<\/span>One of the things that is important for us to realize is that the Fear\nof Death absolutely thrives in conspiracies and conspiracy theories.\u00a0 <\/span>These conspiracies are an effort to ward off\ndeath and to attempt one's own protection and salvation by their own reasoning,\nthought processes and manipulation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Conspiracy and conspiracies can\nNEVER be a part of the life of God's people!\u00a0\n<\/span>If we are going to rule and reign with the authority that has been given\nto us in Christ Jesus, we never have to focus on the conspiracies of those who\nlive their lives in utter fear.\u00a0 <\/span>Neither\ndo we have to fear any conspiracy of the Enemy.\u00a0\n<\/span>Holy Spirit always provides the intervention and destruction of the\nEnemy's conspiracies against us.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Esther 3:7-15<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>In the first month,\nthat is<\/i>, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus, they\ncast Pur, that is<\/i>, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month\nto month, to<\/i> the twelfth month<\/i>, that is<\/i>, the month Adar.\nAnd Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad\nand dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their\nlaws are<\/i> diverse from all people; neither keep they the king\u2019s laws:\ntherefore it is<\/i> not for the king\u2019s profit to suffer them. If it please\nthe king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten\nthousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the\nbusiness, to bring it<\/i> into the king\u2019s treasuries<\/u>. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it unto\nHaman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite<\/u>, the Jews\u2019 enemy. And the king said\nunto Haman, The silver is<\/i> given to thee, the people also, to do with\nthem as it seemeth<\/span> good<\/span> to\nthee. Then were the king\u2019s scribes called on the thirteenth day of the first\nmonth, and there was written according to all that Haman had commanded unto the\nking\u2019s lieutenants, and to the governors that were<\/i> over every province,\nand to the rulers of every people of every province according to the writing\nthereof, and to<\/i> every people after their language; in the name of king\nAhasuerus was it written, and sealed with the king\u2019s ring. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And the letters were sent by posts into all the king\u2019s\nprovinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young\nand old, little children and women, in one day<\/u>, even<\/i> upon the\nthirteenth day<\/i> of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to\ntake<\/i> the spoil of them for a prey<\/u>. The copy of the writing for a\ncommandment to be given in every province was published unto all people, that\nthey should be ready against that day. The posts went out, being hastened by\nthe king\u2019s commandment, and the decree was given in Shushan the palace. And the\nking and Haman sat down to drink; but the city Shushan was perplexed.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Before\nwe continue, let\u2019s list these characteristics separately from the events as\nrecorded in the book of Esther.\u00a0 <\/span>Also,\nremember that though we are describing Haman, we are actually describing the spirit\nof Agag, who was Haman\u2019s ancestor.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

1.<\/span><\/b> Haman demanded the\nworship -- the reverence -- of all who saw him.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

2.<\/span><\/b> When that\nreverence was not given by one member of a nation or race, Haman adopted a\nracist spirit, targeting the whole nation with his wrath and hatred.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

3.<\/span><\/b> He took his anger\nand hatred a step farther by determining to kill off an entire nation of\npeople.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

4.<\/span><\/b> Haman\u2019s next step\nwas to offer a huge bribe to the king for the privilege of killing off a\nsupposedly \u201clawless people who neither keep the king\u2019s laws\u201d and choose to be\n\u201cdifferent\u201d or \u201cdiverse\u201d in their behavior.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

5.<\/span><\/b> Using deception,\nHaman succeeded in getting the king to give him his royal seal so as to make\nthis genocide appear to be the decision of the king and draw attention away from\nhimself.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

6.<\/span><\/b> Using that seal,\nHaman sent letters to the governors and satraps of all 128 provinces throughout\nthe kingdom of Persia in order to advance his murderous agenda.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

7.<\/span><\/b> Haman wasn\u2019t\nsatisfied to simply kill off his targeted enemies: he now authorized the\ngovernors and satraps to take for themselves all of \u201cthe spoil of them for a\nprey.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let\u2019s\npause in this narrative to take particular notice of how Esther responded to\nthe crisis and what she did to defeat the agenda of this wicked spirit and preserve\nthe lives of her countrymen.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Once\nMordecai became aware of Haman\u2019s conspiracy, he sent word to Esther, requesting\nthat she intervene with the king.\u00a0 <\/span>After\nsome discussion with Mordecai, Esther immediately set aside three days for\npurposed and very intense fasting and prayer.\u00a0\n<\/span>She also called on her handmaidens to join her as they pursued the heart\nof the Lord and His wisdom in how to proceed.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Finishing\nher fast, Esther knew exactly what to do.\u00a0\n<\/span>She went before the king unannounced \u2013 under ordinary conditions, an\nabsolute No-No with the potential of immediate death hanging over her head \u2013\nwhereupon he extended favor to her.\u00a0\n<\/span>Esther then requested that the king \u2013 AND Haman \u2013 come to a\nspecially-prepared feast of wine which she would prepare for him.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Again,\nwe pick up the narrative in Esther 5.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Esther\n5:6-14<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>And\nthe king said unto Esther at the banquet of wine, What is<\/i> thy petition?\nand it shall be granted thee: and what is<\/i> thy request? even to the half\nof the kingdom it shall be performed. Then answered Esther, and said, My\npetition and my request is<\/i>; \u00a0<\/span>If I\nhave found favour in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant\nmy petition, and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the\nbanquet that I shall prepare for them, and I will do tomorrow as the king hath\nsaid.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Then went\nHaman forth that day joyful and with a glad heart: but when Haman saw Mordecai\nin the king\u2019s gate, that he stood not up, nor moved for him, he was full of\nindignation against Mordecai. <\/o:p><\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/sup><\/p>\n\n

Nevertheless\nHaman refrained himself: and when he came home, he sent and called for his\nfriends, and Zeresh his wife. \u00a0<\/span><\/sup>And\nHaman told them of the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children,\nand all the things<\/i> wherein the king had promoted him, and how he had\nadvanced him above the princes and servants of the king. \u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/sup><\/p>\n\n

Haman said\nmoreover, Yea, Esther the queen did let no man come in with the king unto the\nbanquet that she had prepared but myself; and tomorrow am I invited unto her\nalso with the king. \u00a0<\/span><\/sup>Yet all\nthis availeth me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the\nking\u2019s gate.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>Then\nsaid Zeresh his wife and all his friends unto him, Let a gallows be made of\nfifty cubits high, and tomorrow speak thou unto the king that Mordecai may be\nhanged thereon: then go thou in merrily with the king unto the banquet. And the\nthing pleased Haman; and he caused the gallows to be made.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It\nmay seem to fly in the face of natural logic, but what Esther did was sheer\ngenius!\u00a0 <\/span>It was the wisdom of God!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

A\nfeast of wine was a relatively rare event \u2013 even in royal circles. \u00a0<\/span>It was as close to a wedding celebration as\none could get in order to enjoy the kind of intimacies and fellowship around\nthe table one would normally expect at a wedding.\u00a0 <\/span>There was wine-tasting of the latest wines\nproduced by the finest vineyards as well as samples of the aged fine\nwines.\u00a0 <\/span>The best musicians, singers and\nentertainers would be brought in for this celebration and praises would be sung\non behalf of the king or the governor of the feast.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Lastly,\na feast of wine was the kind of celebration which marked the agreement and\nunity between a king and queen, between a husband and wife, or between the king\nand his nobles.\u00a0 <\/span>This feast was \u2013 more or\nless \u2013 the marking of a covenant between the one giving the feast and the\ninvited attendees.\u00a0 <\/span>(Hence, you have a\nreal picture of the Last Supper with Jesus!)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Xerxes,\nthe king, was beside himself with joy over this feast of wine Esther had thrown\non his behalf, and he wasn\u2019t about to show anything less than his best loving\ngenerosity towards her.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It\ntakes no great imagination to picture the look on his face when Esther says to\nhim,<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/span>\u201cIf I have found favour\nin the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition, and\nto perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I shall\nprepare for them, and I will do tomorrow as the king hath said."<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nrequest, however, was not designed to put off the king but to thoroughly take\nHaman off guard, so much so that his defenses were completely down.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Haman\nwent home boasting to his wife of this phenomenal place of unity between he,\nthe king and the queen.\u00a0 <\/span>In his arrogant\nboasting he says to his wife, <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u201cAll of this means nothing so long as I see Mordecai the Jew\nsitting at the king\u2019s gate.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

His\nwife and friends were likewise caught up in the moment and recommended that\nHaman build a huge gallows \u2013 50 cubits (75 feet) high \u2013 to hang Mordecai on.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Now\nthe Enemy has been caught in his own trap!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Watch\nas the following events unfold!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Esther\n6:1-14<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>On\nthat night could not the king sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of\nrecords of the chronicles; and they were read before the king. And it was found\nwritten, that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king\u2019s\nchamberlains, the keepers of the door, who sought to lay hand on the king\nAhasuerus. And the king said, What honour and dignity hath been done to\nMordecai for this? Then said the king\u2019s servants that ministered unto him,\nThere is nothing done for him.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And the king\nsaid, Who is<\/i> in the court? Now Haman was come into the outward court of\nthe king\u2019s house, to speak unto the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows that\nhe had prepared for him. And the king\u2019s servants said unto him, Behold, Haman\nstandeth in the court. And the king said, Let him come in. \u00a0<\/span><\/sup>So Haman came in. And the king said unto\nhim, What shall be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour? <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Now Haman\nthought in his heart, To whom would the king delight to do honour more than to\nmyself? \u00a0<\/span><\/sup>And Haman answered\nthe king, For the man whom the king delighteth to honour, \u00a0<\/span>Let the royal apparel be brought which the\nking useth<\/i> to wear, and the horse that the king rideth upon, and the\ncrown royal which is set upon his head: \u00a0<\/span><\/sup>And let this apparel and horse be\ndelivered to the hand of one of the king\u2019s most noble princes, that they may\narray the man withal<\/i> whom the king delighteth to honour, and bring him\non horseback through the street of the city, and proclaim before him, Thus\nshall it be done to the man whom the king delighteth to honour. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Then the king\nsaid to Haman, Make haste, and<\/i> take the apparel and the horse, as thou\nhast said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, that sitteth at the king\u2019s gate:\nlet nothing fail of all that thou hast spoken. <\/o:p><\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/sup><\/p>\n\n

Then took\nHaman the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and brought him on\nhorseback through the street of the city, and proclaimed before him, Thus shall\nit be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/sup><\/p>\n\n

And Mordecai came again to the king\u2019s gate. But Haman hasted to\nhis house mourning, and having his head covered. \u00a0<\/span><\/sup>And Haman told Zeresh his wife and all\nhis friends everything<\/span> that had\nbefallen him. Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife unto him, If Mordecai be<\/i>\nof the seed of the Jews, before whom thou hast begun to fall, thou shalt not\nprevail against him, but shalt surely fall before him. \u00a0<\/span><\/sup>And while they were<\/i> yet talking\nwith him, came the king\u2019s chamberlains, and hasted to bring Haman unto the\nbanquet that Esther had prepared.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Esther\u2019s\nfasting has paid dividends.\u00a0 <\/span>On this very\nnight, the king is restless and cannot sleep so he commands that the records of\nthe chronicles of his kingship be brought and read before him.\u00a0 <\/span>This, by the way, was roughly tantamount to\ncounting sheep.\u00a0 <\/span>It was a means for him to\nbe bored and put to sleep.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Instead,\nhis ears perk up when he hears how Mordecai saved his life some years before,\nand he wonders what kind of reward Mordecai received since nothing is\nmentioned. Despite the early hour of the morning, he asks his servants who\nmight be present in the court and finds out Haman has just arrived.\u00a0 <\/span>Haman thinks to ask the king permission to\nhang Mordecai, but God \u2013 and the king \u2013 have a VERY different plan!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n
