 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Let's talk about America and\nAmerican politics for a second.\u00a0 <\/span>We can\neven extend this picture into the politics that has become part and parcel of\nevery single religious denomination.\u00a0 <\/span>The\nmanipulation that goes on behind the scenes in order to accomplish a particular\nagenda is demonic.\u00a0 <\/span>Truth gets lost in\nthe midst of it.\u00a0 <\/span>Those involved in the\nmanipulation are not listening to what God is saying, and as a result we get\nthe kind of fear and infighting that has brought this nation to a virtual\nstandstill in achieving any real progress.\u00a0\n<\/span>It is why the American people are fed up with the political parties and\nwhy we have elected a President who does not operate within the so-called\n"establishment" in order to get things done.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

The same is true within the\ntraditional church world.\u00a0 <\/span>People are\npulling away from the organized and denominational churches because of the\nspiritual deafness and the "same old, same old" day after day, month\nafter month and year after year.\u00a0 <\/span>The\nlife of Christ is missing.\u00a0 <\/span>Religious\nagendas that have nothing whatever to do with what God is saying and doing have\ntaken over.\u00a0 <\/span>The politics of the church\nworld and the politics of Washington, DC (and that says nothing of other\nnations!) have become sheer witchcraft.\u00a0\n<\/span>The pictures that abound in the example of Balaam and Balak perfectly\ndescribe the demonic hierarchy that we are seeing.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Zophim\n(\u201cfield of watchers\u201d) was a high place on Mount Pisgah, a neighboring mountain\npeak to Mount Nebo where God took Moses to show him the Land of Promise.\u00a0 <\/span>From Pisgah the whole of the Jordan Valley is\nvisible.\u00a0 <\/span>The hills of Ephraim are\nvisible to the northeast and Mount Hermon fades in the heat toward the\nMediterranean.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

The\nspiritual significance of taking Balaam to this point in order to curse Israel\nwas an attempt to revoke God\u2019s covenant with Israel.\u00a0 <\/span>The use of this "high place" was a\ntypical demonic strategy to exert more control.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And the LORD met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said,\nGo again unto Balak, and say thus. And when he came to him, behold, he stood by\nhis burnt offering, and the princes of Moab with him. And Balak said unto him,\nWhat hath the LORD spoken? <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I\ndoubt that Balak really wanted to hear what God had to say, but his curiosity\nand the fear driving him were simply too much.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Balak\nhad asked for the Word of the Lord, and now he was going to get it!\u00a0 <\/span>Balaam was going to prophesy the reinforcing\nof God\u2019s Covenant with His people!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And he took up his parable, and said, Rise up, Balak, and hear;\nhearken unto me, thou son of Zippor: God is<\/i> not a man, that he should\nlie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he\nnot do it<\/i>? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?<\/u> \u00a0<\/span><\/sup>Behold, I have received commandment<\/i>\nto bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it. He hath not beheld\niniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his\nGod is<\/i> with him, and the shout of a king is<\/i> among them.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength\nof an unicorn. Surely there is<\/i> no enchantment against Jacob, neither is\nthere<\/i> any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be\nsaid of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought! Behold, the people shall\nrise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion: he shall not lie\ndown until he eat of<\/i> the prey, and drink the blood of the slain. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And Balak said unto Balaam, Neither curse them at all, nor bless\nthem at all. 26<\/sup>But Balaam answered and said unto Balak, Told not I\nthee, saying, All that the LORD speaketh<\/span>, that I must\ndo? <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And Balak said unto Balaam, Come, I pray thee, I will bring thee\nunto another place; peradventure it will please God that thou mayest curse me\nthem from thence. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And Balak brought Balaam unto the top of Peor, that looketh\ntoward Jeshimon. And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and\nprepare me here seven bullocks and seven rams. \u00a0<\/span><\/sup>And Balak did as Balaam had said, and\noffered a bullock and a ram on every<\/i> altar.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This\ntime Balak is going to bring Balaam to the altar, Baal-Peor.\u00a0 <\/span>Baal-Peor is another name in the Semitic\ntongue for a demon who is otherwise known as Chemosh.\u00a0 <\/span>This evil spirit is identified in both\nScripture, and throughout history (and archaeological records) as the god of\nseduction, the originator of the licentious and immoral rites practiced among\nthe Canaanite nations.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

These\nrites and practices are inherent in all Baal worship.\u00a0 <\/span>What becomes clear in this instance is that\nBalak is going to use seduction and lust in an effort to entice Balaam to curse\nIsrael.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Numbers 24<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>And\nwhen Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he went not, as at\nother times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the\nwilderness. And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his\ntents<\/i> according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This\nis extremely significant!\u00a0 <\/span>Up to this\ntime Balaam has sought to use his practices of witchcraft and divination for\nthe purpose of casting spells and enchantments upon Israel.\u00a0 <\/span>The power of God\u2019s Word in him was so strong\nhe simply gave up trying to use his magical powers and practices and yielded\nfor the first time willingly to the Spirit of God.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor\nhath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said: He hath said, which heard\nthe words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance<\/i>,\nbut having his eyes open: How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, and<\/i> thy\ntabernacles, O Israel! \u00a0<\/span><\/sup>As the\nvalleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the river\u2019s side, as the trees of\nlign aloes which the LORD hath planted, and<\/i> as cedar trees beside the\nwaters. He shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his seed shall be<\/i>\nin many waters, and his king shall be higher than Agag<\/u>, and his kingdom\nshall be exalted.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Although\nit may seem so, Balaam is not particularly prophesying of the same Agag whom\nSamuel put to death after Saul\u2019s disobedience nearly four hundred years in the\nfuture.\u00a0 <\/span>The name \u201cAgag\u201d is similar to\n\u201cPharaoh\u201d or \u201cAbimelech\u201d in the sense that it is the title of a king.\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cAgag\u201d was the title for the rulers of Amalek\nin the same way that \u201cPharaoh\u201d was the title for the rulers of Egypt, or\n\u201cAbimelech\u201d the title for the rulers of the Philistines.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Nevertheless,\nBalaam\u2019s prophecy is significant because it denotes the supremacy of the Lord\nGod over demonic entities \u2013 Agag being \u201cone who burns.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the\nstrength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall\nbreak their bones, and pierce them<\/i> through with his arrows. He couched,\nhe lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is<\/i>\nhe that blesseth<\/span> thee, and cursed is<\/i> he that\ncurseth thee.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

By\nyielding to the Spirit of Prophecy willingly, Balaam now has received a vision\nand actually foresees Israel\u2019s future.\u00a0\n<\/span>In the midst of this vision and prophecy, for the first time Israel will\nhave a prophetic word concerning the coming of Messiah!<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And Balak\u2019s anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his\nhands together: and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine\nenemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them<\/i> these three\ntimes. Therefore now flee thou to thy place: I thought to promote thee unto\ngreat honour; but, lo, the LORD hath kept thee back from honour. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And Balaam said unto Balak, Spake I not also to thy messengers\nwhich thou sentest unto me, saying, If Balak would give me his house full of\nsilver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the LORD, to do either<\/i>\ngood or bad of mine own mind; but<\/i> what the LORD saith, that will I\nspeak? And now, behold, I go unto my people: come therefore, and<\/i> I will\nadvertise thee what this people shall do to thy people in the latter days.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Balaam\nis on a roll!\u00a0 <\/span>He is really enjoying the\nopportunity to prophesy truth, and that truth is pouring out like a river!<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor\nhath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said: 16<\/sup>He hath\nsaid, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, which<\/i>\nsaw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance<\/i>, but having his\neyes open:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh:\nthere shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel,\nand shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth. And\nEdom shall be a possession, Seir also shall be a possession for his enemies;\nand Israel shall do valiantly.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Out of Jacob shall come he that shall have dominion, and shall\ndestroy him that remaineth of the city. And when he looked on Amalek, he took\nup his parable, and said, Amalek was<\/i> the first of the nations; but his\nlatter end shall be<\/i> that he perish forever.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And he looked on the Kenites, and took up his parable, and said,\nStrong is thy dwellingplace<\/span>, and thou puttest<\/span> thy nest in a rock. Nevertheless the Kenite shall\nbe wasted, until Asshur shall carry thee away captive. And he took up his\nparable, and said, Alas, who shall live when God doeth this!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And ships shall come<\/i> from the coast of Chittim, and shall\nafflict Asshur, and shall afflict Eber, and he also shall perish forever. And\nBalaam rose up, and went and returned to his place: and Balak also went his\nway.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Despite\nthe fact that Balak attempted to use, cajole, threaten and even seduce Balaam\ninto prophesying evil against Israel, every effort failed and God still used\nthis miscreant prophet to prophesy blessing after blessing upon Israel.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

More\nthan that, He systematically laid out the future end of Israel\u2019s enemies\nincluding the end of the Moabites.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

What\nwe are seeing demonstrated in this entire event is that when the Word of the\nLord is spoken, it matters not what demonic power may be ruling, that power is\noverruled by the authority of the Lord.\u00a0\n<\/span>What we\u2019ve seen thus far is a clear illustration of the implementation\nof spiritual hierarchy.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Balak,\nKing of the Moabites, represents several pictures all at once, and we need to\nenumerate the characteristics represented by this <\/span>arch\u00e9<\/span><\/i><\/b> in the demonic\nrealm.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

As\nwe saw in the events outlined in Numbers 22 \u2013 24, the dominant spirit is The Fear of Man.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

What\nbecame immediately obvious as this story unfolded was that the Fear of Man uses\nthose who are susceptible to this fear for their own merchandise.\u00a0 <\/span>Balak went after Balaam to accomplish his\nends because Balaam was easily susceptible to the Fear of Man.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Notice\nthat as Numbers 22 begins, we have a picture of just what the Fear of Man did\nto Balak.\u00a0 <\/span>He was<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

1a. <\/span><\/b>\u201cSore\nafraid of Israel <\/u>because they were many.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

1b. <\/span><\/b>\u201cDistressed\n<\/u>(<\/span>q<\/span><\/i><\/b>u<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> <\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00f2<\/span><\/i><\/b>ts<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span> <\/span><\/i><\/b>:\ncut off) because they were many.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

1c. <\/span><\/b>Afraid that \u201cthis company shall lick up all that are\nround about us<\/span><\/u>.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This\nlast item is descriptive of the Fear of Death.\u00a0\n<\/span>Thus, the Fear of Man works hand in hand with (2)<\/span><\/b> The\nFear of Death.<\/b><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nFear of Death all by itself is a dominant spirit.\u00a0 <\/span>The Fear of Man \u2013 operating with the full and\ncomplete agreement of Balak (whose name, as we have noted before, means\n\u201cWaster\u201d) \u2013 now joins forces with the Fear of Death.\u00a0 <\/span>The two of these dominant spirits working in\ncooperation with each other have the capacity to wreak havoc, not only on\nBalak, the person, but also the nation of Moab because of Balak\u2019s position as\nKing.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This\nis an important principle for us to understand.\u00a0\n<\/span>Balak \u2013 the Waster \u2013 is going to do just that to his people.\u00a0 <\/span>But this is only the beginning.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nnext thing we learn is that because of the compound fear at work in Balak, he\ndesires to curse <\/span>(\u2018<\/i><\/span>a\u00f2<\/span><\/i><\/b>rar<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span><\/b>) that (and those) whom he fears.\u00a0 <\/span>That\u2019s to say, he wants to bring evil upon\nthem by speaking evil, speaking weakness or infirmity or death through\nenchantments, witchcraft, and sorcery.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Thus\nBalak adds to the Fear of Man and the Fear of Death\u00a0 <\/span>(3)<\/span><\/b> Enchantment.<\/o:p><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Although\nin this instance, the enchantment is purposed by and through someone accustomed\nto operating in a spiritual realm speaking curses over them, the whole concept\nof enchantment(s) operates in several ways.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

3a. <\/span><\/b>Speaking curses<\/span><\/u>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

3b. <\/span><\/b>Enchanting by singing words <\/span><\/u>designed to bring\none\u2019s enemy to doom, to death <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

and\/or\ndestruction.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

3c. <\/span><\/b>The use of drugs<\/span><\/u>, the offering of certain kinds of incense,\nthe use of substances designed to alter a person\u2019s (or a people\u2019s)\nconsciousness or thought patterns upon contact with their sensory system.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

3d. <\/span><\/b>The use of specifically-designed images which\nsubliminally plant destructive messages in the mind<\/span><\/u>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Operating\nin the same territory as enchantment is something we refer to as \u201cdivination.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

4. Divination<\/span><\/b> is the demonic counterfeit for the\nprophetic gifts of the Spirit we know as \u201cThe Word of Knowledge,\u201d \u201cThe Word of\nWisdom\u201d and the \u201cDiscerning of Spirits.\u201d\u00a0\n<\/span>The word means \u201cto divine or to ascertain certain knowledge\u201d by other\nthan normal or natural means.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

For\nthose who operate in this realm, coming up with answers can be a treacherous\nproposition since one is ascertaining things by mean of a spirit whose purpose\nit is to mislead, to deceive, or to bring to a deadly end. (Witness 22:5.)\nNevertheless, the spirit of divination is a tool employed by spirits of fear \u2013\nno matter what their denomination may be.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Because\nthe Fear of Man is a driving force operating in Balak, he knows that it is\nnecessary to induce Balaam to do something he may not ordinarily be inclined to\ndo so he employs the next area of operation of these spirits of fear.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\u2019ve a\nlong ways to go, and we\u2019ll pick it up here next week.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n
