Spiritual Hierarchy & Authority, Part 2<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

It had been my intention after\nfinishing the Psalm 23 series to do a series on the Tabernacle of David, and\nmore specifically, the Key of David, but Holy Spirit prompted me to hold on\nthat for the moment because of the incredible demonic displays we are seeing in\nthis nation and around the world.\u00a0 <\/span>The\nviolence, the reverse racism of what we used to know 70 to 100 years ago, the\ngang mentality that has overtaken our society, the calling of that which we\nknow as evil, good, and that which we know as good, evil are all examples of a\nsociety, a nation and a world in the throes of Satanic fear.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

We are literally in the final days\nof an age where Satan has had free reign to purvey his evil.\u00a0 <\/span>He has run out of time and is terrified of\nwhat comes next.\u00a0 <\/span>He has done his best to\noverthrow the influence of the Gospel in this nation and is failing!\u00a0 <\/span>What we are seeing are his last ditch efforts\nto defeat the Kingdom of God and the rulership of the Lord Jesus Christ.\u00a0 <\/span>Because the authority to defeat him with\nabsolute finality has been given to the people of God, it is critically\nimportant that we, as God's people and as the Bride of Christ, exercise the\ndominion given to us.\u00a0 <\/span>In order to do\nthat, we absolutely MUST know who we are in Christ, and who He is in us.\u00a0 <\/span>It is time for God's people to subdue this\nenemy, NOW!<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Satan\u2019s\npurpose from day One has been to steal those heavens from the Lord and use them\nto torment the people of God.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It\nmay seem rather academic, but you\u2019ll notice that Satan is NEVER referred to as\n\u201cthe King of this present world.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus\nalways refers to him in the lower sense as an <\/span>archon<\/span><\/i><\/b>: <\/span>prince.\u00a0 <\/span>The more accurate translation of that Greek\nword would be \u201cmagistrate.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>A magistrate\nhas permission to exercise power and authority within certain proscribed boundaries.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let\u2019s\ntake this discussion the next step.\u00a0 <\/span>We\nknow from Paul\u2019s letter to Timothy that Jesus Christ has the title \u201cKing of\nKings.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>(See I Timothy 6:15)\u00a0 <\/span>In fact, three times in the New Testament,\nJesus is referred to as \u201cKing of Kings and Lord of Lords.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>This may be completely academic, but who are\nthe \u201ckings\u201d He is King of?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Revelation 1:4-6<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0\n<\/span><\/span>Grace be<\/i> unto you, and peace, from him which is, and\nwhich was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before\nhis throne; And from Jesus Christ, who is<\/i> the faithful witness, and<\/i>\nthe first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto\nhim that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath\nmade us kings and priests unto God and his Father<\/u>; to him be<\/i> glory\nand dominion forever and ever. Amen.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Revelation 5:9-10<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0\n<\/span><\/span>And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the\nbook, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us\nto God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And\nhast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.<\/u><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That\nbeing the case, where do we stand in the hierarchy of Heaven?\u00a0 <\/span>As kings, princes are subject to us.\u00a0 <\/span>Go back to David\u2019s statement in the Psalms:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Psalm 115:16<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>\u201cThe\nheaven, even<\/i> the heavens, are<\/i> the LORD\u2019S: but the earth hath He\ngiven to the children of men.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nearth hath He given to the children of men!\u00a0\n<\/span>That\u2019s US!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Stop\nand consider once again the legal concept of the first heaven, the second\nheaven, and the third heaven.\u00a0 <\/span>We know\nfrom both from Genesis 7:21-23 and Peter\u2019s second epistle (II Peter 3:5-6) that\nthe first heaven and first earth perished.\u00a0\n<\/span>In terms of the time frame for this event, it took place AFTER Adam\u2019s\nfall and eviction from the Garden of Eden.\u00a0\n<\/span>It took place AFTER Satan was cast into the earth.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

With\nNoah and his family began the second heaven and second earth.\u00a0 <\/span>That is the heaven and earth that presently\nexist.\u00a0 <\/span>It exists within a proscribed\ntime frame which has an end date:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/span>II Peter 3:10-13<\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>But the day of the\nLord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass\naway with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the\nearth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Seeing<\/i> then that<\/i> all these\nthings shall be dissolved, what manner of persons<\/i> ought ye to be in all<\/i>\nholy conversation and godliness,\u00a0 <\/span>Looking\nfor and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on\nfire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?\u00a0 <\/span>Nevertheless we, according to his promise,\nlook for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Revelation 21:1<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>And\nI saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first <\/span>(<\/span>protos<\/span><\/i><\/b>: <\/span>foremost, present, former<\/span><\/u>) <\/span>heaven\nand the first <\/span>(<\/span>protos<\/span><\/i><\/b>: <\/span>foremost, present, former<\/span><\/u>) <\/span>earth were passed away; and there\nwas no more sea.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Why\nmake this point again?\u00a0 <\/span>Because Jesus\nthree times described Satan as the \u201cprince of \u201cthis present arrangement of the\nworld.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>He\u2019s not a king.\u00a0 <\/span>His power only operates as men and women give\nhim that right.\u00a0 <\/span>Sin gives him a right to\noperate \u2013 and even then there are limitations to that right.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

All\nof the \u201cprincipalities and powers, the world rulers of darkness and those who\npractice and exercise spiritual wickedness in the heavenlies\u201d are totally under\nour dominion.\u00a0 <\/span>They have no authority\nwhich even measures up to that which we\u2019ve been given.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\nare the ones to whom the earth has been given.\u00a0\n<\/span>Satan\u2019s only sphere of operation is \u201cthe air.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>In fact, here\u2019s how Jesus put it to the\ndisciples when He sent them out to preach the Kingdom:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Luke 10:17-20 (NASB)<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0\n<\/span><\/span>The seventy returned with joy, saying, \u201cLord, even the demons\nare subject to us in Your name.\u201d And He said to them, \u201cI was watching Satan\nfall from heaven like lightning. \u201cBehold, I have given you authority to tread\non serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing\nwill injure you. \u201cNevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are\nsubject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Some\nof our English translations read <\/span>\u201cBehold I give unto\nyou power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the\nenemy.\u201d <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>The problem is that\nyou have two distinctly different words translated \u201cpower.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>The Greek text uses the word exousia <\/span><\/i><\/b>(authority, right, permission) in the\nfirst instance and <\/span>dunamis<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span>(force,\npower, might, ability) in the second.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Satan\nis never identified as having <\/span>exousia<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span>anywhere in\nScripture.\u00a0 <\/span>He has <\/span>dunamis<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span>but not\nauthority.\u00a0 <\/span>That is something we have,\nand we have the responsibility to deprive Satan of his power, to diminish it in\nevery instance where we see it operating.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Demonic\nprinces are under our authority.\u00a0 <\/span>Demonic\nmagistrates are under our authority.\u00a0\n<\/span>Demonic foot soldiers are under our authority.\u00a0 <\/span>Satan himself is regarded \u2013 legally \u2013 as\nbeing under our feet.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Psalm 110:1-3<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>The\nLORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies\nthy footstool.\u00a0 <\/span>The LORD shall send the\nrod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.\u00a0 <\/span>Thy people shall be<\/i> willing in the day\nof thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou\nhast the dew of thy youth.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Hebrews 10:12-14<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>But\nthis man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for\never<\/span>, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till\nhis enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for\never them that are sanctified.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u201cThe\nLord shall send forth the rod of thy strength out of Zion.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>That\u2019s us, folks!\u00a0 <\/span>Zion.\u00a0\n<\/span>The Bride!\u00a0 <\/span>We are expected to\nmake Jesus\u2019 enemies His footstool \u2013 and that\u2019s exactly what we\u2019re going to do!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Before\nwe launch into the next phase of this discussion, let\u2019s refresh our memories on\nthe levels of hierarchy in the spirit realm as Paul laid them out in Ephesians\n6.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Ephesians 6:12<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0\n<\/span><\/span>For\nwe wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities<\/u> <\/span>(arch\u00e9<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>), against powers<\/u> <\/span>(<\/span>exousia<\/span><\/i><\/b>), <\/span>against the rulers\nof the darkness of this world<\/u><\/span> (kosmokrator<\/span><\/i>),\n<\/b><\/span>against\nspiritual wickedness<\/u> <\/span>(pneumatikos\/poneria<\/span><\/i><\/b>)\n<\/span>in<\/span> high places.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Each\nof these levels are defined in the Greek text like this:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Arch\u00e9<\/span><\/i><\/b>: <\/span>A head or a chief; first; creator,\ninitiator; it means a causal beginning or act; origin; <\/span>Arch\u00e9<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span><\/b>means: extremity or\noutermost point, rule, authority, dominion; the verb form <\/span>(arch<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>o<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00f4<\/span><\/b>)<\/span> <\/span>denotes being\nfirst, or to rule.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Exousia<\/i><\/span><\/b>: <\/span>Permission, authority, right, liberty,\npower to do anything; <\/b><\/span>Exousia<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span><\/b>denotes executive\npower, while<\/span>\narch\u00e9<\/span><\/i> <\/span><\/b><\/span>represents the\ndelegated authority representing that power.\u00a0\n<\/span><\/span>Exousia<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span>means:\nit is allowed; one can; it is permitted; denying the presence of some\nhindrance.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Kosmokrator<\/i><\/span><\/b>: <\/span>Contraction of <\/span>kosmos<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span>(order of world)\nand <\/span>kratos<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span>(power\nor authority); this word is used almost exclusively to describe demonic powers\nwhich rule or hold authority over certain parts of the world, i.e., a lord of\n[certain or specific] darkness.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Pneumatikos\/poneria<\/span><\/i><\/b>: <\/span>There are two forms\nof the word <\/span>pneumatikos<\/span><\/i><\/b> \u2013 both of which\nhave the root <\/span>(pneuma<\/span><\/i>: <\/b><\/span>for wind or spirit): the first\nform<\/u> denoting a person under the influence or control of sin and its\npropensities; and the second<\/u> describing a spiritual man or woman\nassisted by the Holy Spirit to perform supernatural acts.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Pneumatikos<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span><\/b>is differentiated\nfrom<\/span> psuchikos<\/span><\/i> <\/b><\/span>(soulishness, soulish control,\nsoulish behavior).<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nsecond word used in this Greek phrase is <\/span>poneria<\/span><\/i><\/b>, <\/span>which is derived\nfrom <\/span><\/span>poneros<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span><\/b>(a malicious\nperson), and identifies one who is not only evil, but expresses his malice in\nsuch a way as to affect or influence or control the behavior and\/or activities\nof others.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nGreek phrase utilizing these two words is usually translated \u201cspiritual\nwickedness\u201d (in [<\/span>epouranios<\/span><\/i><\/b>] high places), but that translation misses\nthe fact that Paul is describing spiritual forces at work in [usually]\npolitical or governmental places, operating through individuals to maliciously\nalter their lives or their thoughts and activities in such a way as to prevent\nthem from operating in, from and out of the Kingdom of God.\u00a0 <\/span>How do these spiritual forces work?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Once\nagain, it is important to note that although demonic authority was often\nexercised in earthly kings, at no time did Jesus ever describe these\n\u201cprincipalities\u201d as kings.\u00a0 <\/span>Satan, who is\nthe principal authority in the realm of the demonic, is only described as \u201cthe\nprince of this world\u201d or \u2013 more specifically \u2013 \u201cthe prince of the power of the\nair.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>(See John 12:31 and Ephesians\n2:2).<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

By\ncomparison, we are defined as \u201cKings and Priests\u201d (Revelation 1:6 and 5:10) or\nas \u201cKings\u201d and \u201cLords\u201d \u2013 Jesus being our \u201cKing of Kings and Lord of Lords\u201d (See\nI Timothy 6:15 and Revelation 17:14).<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Among\nthe list of earthly kings in describing the realms of power through which\ndemonic princes were operating, we see the following: Balak (King of Moab),\nAgag (King of Amalek), both Hadad and Ben-Hadad (Kings of Syria), Goliath (the\nChampion of Gath and the Philistines), Shalmaneser (King of Assyria), and the\nKing of Babylon.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\nare given no name of the king of Babylon, but both Isaiah and Ezekiel describe\nLucifer in his fallen state as Satan, the Accuser, as operating through the\nking of Babylon.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Beyond\nthese, we have named in Scripture the Prince of Persia, the Prince of Tyre (or\nTyrus), the Prince of Egypt, the Prince of Meshech and Tubal, and the Prince of\nGreece (or Grecia).<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Finally,\nwe have Beelzebub, who is named as \u201cthe prince of devils\u201d (or more properly\ndemons).<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

These\nare the demonic powers that are specifically enumerated according to the term\nthat Paul used in Ephesians 6 <\/span>-- arch\u00e9<\/span><\/i> <\/b>\u2013\n<\/span>but as\nyou begin to see and understand the kinds of demonic activity described\nthroughout the Word it becomes abundantly clear that there are many, many\nothers whose activities are camouflaged so as not to be quite so readily\nvisible.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It\nis not my objective to make this an exhaustive study of each demonic prince but\nrather to deal with some broad areas of spiritual bondage as they relate to\nsome of these princes, and to help us as believers in being able to confront\nand destroy the chains that have held so many in captivity.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I\nhave personally found it fascinating that the names of each of these kings \u2013\nBalak, Hadad, Agag, etc. \u2013 are the names of certain gods or deities in the\nCanaanite and Babylonian pantheon.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Thus,\nBalak is the name of a demon \u2013 his name translates to \u201cWaster.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>The root for his name in Hebrew means: to\nannihilate.\u00a0 <\/span>We can relate this to\nIsaiah\u2019s prophecy in Isaiah 54:16 where God says, \u201cI have created the waster to\ndestroy.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Agag\u2019s\nname is \u201cFire,\u201d and it means: to burn with a hot flame.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Hadad\u2019s\nname was the common name for a Canaanite demon, and the name means: fierce; to\ncut with a sharp instrument, severe.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\naddition of the prefix \u201cBen\u201d making the name Ben-Hadad simply added \u201cson of\u201d or\n\u201cdescended from\u201d; i.e., progeny, child of.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Next\nweek, we will take a look at the activities and descriptions of these demonic\nprinces, their witchcraft and manipulation and how they sought to overthrow\nGod's plan, purpose and destiny for His people, Israel, as well as how they are\noperating today to defeat believers.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n
