\n\tDecember 29, 2017<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\t

 <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tIf ever there has been a time when the body of Christ needs to understand \n\tand walk in true authority \u2014 the authority that comes from the Lord Jesus \n\tChrist \u2014 that time is now.  Over the past weeks, we have looked at the \n\tvarious tiers of demonic hierarchy and how and where these wicked spirits \n\toperate.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tTrue authority is recognized.  If I have to tell you that I have \n\tauthority, the fact is that I don\u2019t!  If it isn\u2019t manifested, there is \n\tsomething really wrong with where I am in God.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tWherever Jesus went, evil spirits recognized him.  Why?  Because \n\tHe had all the authority of Father operational in Him.  He didn\u2019t \n\tadvertise Who He was and is.  His very presence manifested absolute \n\tauthority!  Consider what Jesus said to the disciples just before He \n\tascended into Heaven.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tMatthew 28:18-20<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>\n\t\n\tAll power (<\/span>exousia\u2014authority<\/span><\/i>) \n\tis given unto me in heaven and in earth.   <\/sup>Go ye therefore, and \n\tteach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, \n\tand of the Holy Ghost:  <\/sup>Teaching them to observe all things \n\twhatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even<\/i> \n\tunto the end of the world. Amen.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tJesus made it abundantly clear to the disciples that the authority resident \n\tin Him would be with them throughout time and eternity.  No matter \n\twhere they went, He was with them.  All of the authority of Heaven was \n\tat their disposal to teach and to disciple men and women in His <\/span>\n\t\n\t\n\tonoma<\/span><\/i><\/b>.  \n\tWe\u2019ll talk more about that in a minute.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tYou remember the event that occurred when the centurion came to Jesus asking \n\tthat Jesus speak the word and heal His servant?<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tMatthew 8:5-10a, 13<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\n\t<\/span>\n\t\n\tAnd when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, \n\tbeseeching him,  <\/sup>And saying, Lord, my servant\n\tlieth<\/span> at home sick of the palsy, grievously \n\ttormented.  <\/sup>And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.\n\t <\/sup>The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou \n\tshouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall \n\tbe healed.  <\/sup>For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under \n\tme: and I say to this man<\/i>, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, \n\tand he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it<\/i>.  <\/sup>When \n\tJesus heard it<\/i>, he marveled\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\tAnd Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast \n\tbelieved, so<\/i> be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the \n\tselfsame hour.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tThere is a principle revealed here that many Christians fail to understand.  \n\tFather, Son and Holy Spirit represent the God-head!  All authority \u2014 \n\tthe final authority \u2014 resides in them.  No authority exists anywhere in \n\tthis universe \u2014 and specifically, here on earth \u2014 except it first come from \n\tthem.  We\u2019ve already talked about Satan\u2019s attempts to overthrow the \n\tthrone of God and take that throne of authority for himself, and what it \n\tcost him.  Satan was a created being.  Whatever authority or power \n\the had existed only because it was granted to him from God.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tWhen he attempted to usurp that authority, he lost any authority and power \n\tthat he had with God.  He lost his place in Heaven.  In fact, he \n\tlost all authority, PERIOD!  The only reason we see him at work today \n\tis because man grants him the authority to do so.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tLet\u2019s go back to the beginning of Creation for a minute.  What was it \n\tthat God spoke to Adam and Eve?<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tGenesis 1:28<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>\n\t\n\tAnd God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and \n\treplenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the \n\tsea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth \n\tupon the earth.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tHe gave them dominion!  The Hebrew word in this text is, <\/span>\n\tradah<\/span><\/i><\/b>.  \n\tIt means to rule over, to have dominion, to have final authority.  \n\tDavid confirms this in the Psalms.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tPsalm 115:16<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>\n\t\n\tThe heaven, even<\/i> the heavens, are<\/i> the LORD\u2019S: but the earth \n\thath he given to the children of men.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tGod gave authority for all that happens on the earth to us.  Once \n\tagain, the fact that we see evil operating around us is only because we have \n\tgiven it permission.  Satan was stripped of all authority<\/i><\/b>!  \n\tAny authority he gets has to come from someone who has the right to give \n\tauthority.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tWe come back to the event that occurred with the centurion who came to \n\tJesus.  He saw and recognized real authority in Jesus.  As one who \n\thad been trained in the protocols of authority, he understood that Jesus \n\tcould not do what He did except He was operating under a divine commission \n\tof authority.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tThe centurion even spelled it out.  He said, <\/span>\n\t\n\tFor I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this\n\tman<\/i>, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my \n\tservant, Do this, and he doeth it<\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tWhen the centurion spoke, he knew that those who were under his authority \n\thad to obey.  There was no possibility of disobedience to his word.  \n\tHis word to those under him was final.  To disobey that authority would \n\tlikely mean death.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tThe centurion saw that same kind of authority resident in Jesus.  He \n\tknew that if Jesus spoke the word of healing for his servant, there was no \n\tpossibility that his servant would not be healed.  Jesus\u2019 word carried \n\ta level of authority that the centurion knew had to be obeyed.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tSadly, the body of Christ has somehow failed to fully grasp the significance \n\tof this.  Religion and religiosity have overtaken so much of the body \n\tof Christ that there is no manifestation of authority.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tWe have talked many times throughout the years about the principle of being \n\tin Jesus\u2019 <\/span>\n\tonoma<\/span><\/i><\/b>.  \n\tGo back to the statement that Jesus made in Matthew 1:28.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\tGo ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the \n\tname of <\/u>the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tThis is a phrase oft repeated throughout the New Testament.  Religion \n\tand religiosity \u2014 churchianity, if you will \u2014 have reduced this to a \n\tformula.  Use the name of Jesus, and everything will take place exactly \n\tas you say.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tNope.  Huh Uh!  That\u2019s now how it works.  Just because we \n\tquote the name of Jesus does not mean that we are operating in His name. \n\t<\/span>\n\t\n\tOnoma<\/span><\/i><\/b>, \n\tas we have said many times, represents one\u2019s very essence, their \n\tpersonality, their makeup, their authority.  It\u2019s who and what they \n\tare.  Throughout the Word, we see the significance of names being given \n\tto various individuals.  Those names were prophecies of who and what \n\tthey were or would become.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tThe spiritual significance of the name and all that it represents are part \n\tand parcel of the authority resident in that name.  Jesus twice, in his \n\tparables, uses the example of those who spout the name of Jesus and seek to \n\texercise that name but are not operating in His <\/span>\n\t\n\tonoma<\/span><\/i><\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tMatthew 7:21-23<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>\n\t\n\tNot everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of \n\theaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.  <\/sup>Many \n\twill say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? \n\tand in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful \n\tworks?  <\/sup>And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: \n\tdepart from me, ye that work iniquity.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tDo you see what Jesus is saying?  \u201cI never knew you<\/b>! How can \n\tyou be operating in my name if I never knew you?  We\u2019ve never had an \n\tintimate love relationship with each other.\u201d<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tThe consequence of that is that those who attempt to operate in Jesus\u2019 name \n\twithout His authority simply cannot enter the realm of Kingdom living.  \n\tThese may well be folks who have acknowledged that Jesus Christ is the Son \n\tof God and that He was the atonement, the remission for and the eradication \n\tof their sins and the curse that hung over them.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tThe problem is that they\u2019ve never taken the time to come to really know Him.  \n\tThey don\u2019t fellowship with Him.  They don\u2019t know what it means to be \n\t\u201cin Christ\u201d and\/or for He and His anointing to be in them!  Hence, \n\ttheir authority is a man-made authority.  They are not operating in Him \n\tand with His mandate.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tThere is even a more graphic example of this in Acts where we see the seven \n\tsons of Sceva, a priest and a Pharisee, trying to duplicate what they see \n\thappening with Paul.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tActs 19:14-16<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>\n\t\n\tAnd there were seven sons of one<\/i> Sceva, a Jew, and<\/i> chief of \n\tthe priests, which did so.  <\/sup>And the evil spirit answered and \n\tsaid, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?  <\/sup>And the man \n\tin whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed \n\tagainst them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tPaul clearly operated in the <\/span>\n\tonoma<\/span><\/i><\/b> of the Lord Jesus \n\tChrist.  He was in Christ and Christ was in him.  These seven sons \n\tof Sceva were educated in religion.  Their father was a Pharisee and \n\tthe Chief Priest.  From their perspective, being who they were in \n\treligion and being recognized as religious leaders, Paul certainly had no \n\tmore authority than they did.  He was a member of the Pharisees,  \n\tThey were members of that sect.  They ought to be able to do what he \n\tdid.  He wasn\u2019t anyone special.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tTheir issue was the same one so many Christians face today.  They\u2019re \n\tsaved!  They\u2019ve been baptized in water.  Jesus said that when the \n\tComforter \u2014 the Holy Spirit \u2014 came, He would be with them, so therefore, \n\tthey are filled with the Spirit.  They are believers! (Really?)  \n\tThey read the Bible.  They pray.  They talk about Jesus when it is \n\tconvenient to do so.  Exercising spiritual authority isn\u2019t just for the \n\t\u201csuper-spiritual.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tAnd none of that is the real qualifier for spiritual authority!<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tYes, it is critically important to be saved and baptized in water.  It \n\tis especially important for us to know the Scripture, but far more important \n\tfor us to know the Word \u2014 Jesus, Himself!<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tBut being filled with the Spirit does not come by osmosis.  There\u2019s \n\tnothing automatic about it!  The beginning place of being filled with \n\tthe Spirit is the release of the Spirit within us by an act on our part \u2014 \n\tthe release of our tongue.  And that\u2019s only the initiating phase.  \n\tNone of that has anything to do with being filled with the Spirit.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tBeing filled with Holy Spirit is a daily, ongoing function.  There\u2019s no \n\tsuch thing as a \u201conce and for all\u201d event.  Being filled with the \n\tpresence of the Lord and operating in His authority is a natural byproduct \n\tof living in His presence.  And that comes through a daily walk in the \n\trealms of the Spirit that God has for us.  It comes through a constant \n\tflow of worship flowing through our beings.  It comes through a 24-hour \n\tdaily flow of love back and forth between us and the Lord Jesus Christ.  \n\tIt is living in Him and knowing that He is in us.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tThe objective is for us to be One with Him \u2014 not simply knowing about Him, \n\tWho He is, and what He has done for us.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tSpiritual authority is a product of living in Him, listening to His voice, \n\tlistening to His very heartbeat, knowing His heart\u2019s desires and obeying His \n\tinstructions in the time and manner He so specifies.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tThis is a rarity for me, to be sure, but there have been times when folks \n\twanted me to pray certain things for them, pray for their healing, pray for \n\ttheir deliverance from evil spirits, pray for specific provision for certain \n\tneeds.  I was more than ready to respond and Holy Spirit spoke clearly \n\tto me and said, \u201cNo!  Do not pray for them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tAuthority was being withheld from me to pray those specific prayers at that \n\tmoment.  Holy Spirit later explained to me that they were not willing \n\tto meet the necessary requirements.  They wanted all the \u201cfreebies\u201d \n\tthey could get from the Lord, but they were not willing to pay the spiritual \n\tcost of living or walking in that realm.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tThen there have been some cases in which folks came wanting prayer for \n\tdeliverance from evil spirits, and the instruction was to not pray.  \n\tTheir desire for prayer was to put on a religious show of being righteous \n\twhile there was no heart in them to be free of the areas that those evil \n\tspirits were motivating and driving.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tOne of the things both Della and I have learned throughout the years is to \n\tcheck with the Lord before we accede to someone\u2019s desire to pray for them or \n\tfor some particular situation.  Many times the request will be OK, but \n\tthe timing is off and Holy Spirit says, \u201cWait.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tWe have had multiple experiences in commanding the weather, speaking to \n\tstorms, hurricanes, etc., and seeing the immediate results of our commands.  \n\tIt was puzzling, therefore, when we received no direction to pray over the \n\ttwo hurricanes, Harvey and Irma that recently hit the Gulf of Texas and \n\tFlorida as well as Maria, which hit Puerto Rico and did such major damage.  \n\tThe damage was catastrophic, yet the loss of life was almost insignificant, \n\tand minor by comparison to Katrina where more than 1800 people lost their \n\tlives.  I won\u2019t try to take time today to delve into the reasons or the \n\tthings that God is accomplishing in the midst of these disasters.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tWe\u2019ll pick this up again next week.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t
