 <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tLet\u2019s continue today with last week\u2019s discussion.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tOne of the things both Della and I have learned throughout the years is to \n\tcheck with the Lord before we accede to someone\u2019s desire to pray for them or \n\tfor some particular situation.  Many times the request will be OK, but \n\tthe timing is off and Holy Spirit says, \u201cWait.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tWe have had multiple experiences in commanding the weather, speaking to \n\tstorms, hurricanes, etc., and seeing the immediate results of our commands.  \n\tIt was puzzling, therefore, when we received no direction to pray over the \n\ttwo hurricanes, Harvey and Irma that recently hit the Gulf of Texas and \n\tFlorida as well as Maria, which hit Puerto Rico and did such major damage.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tThe damage was catastrophic, yet the loss of life was almost insignificant, \n\tand minor by comparison to Katrina where more than 1800 people lost their \n\tlives.  I won\u2019t try to take time today to delve into the reasons or the \n\tthings that God is accomplishing in the midst of these disasters.  One \n\tthing we can say about the after-effect of these storms is that they brought \n\tpeople together in a spirit of unity on a scale that we have not seen in a \n\tvery long time.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tDella and I have a young lady \u2013 Sarai Velasquez \u2013 whom we hired some weeks \n\tback to tutor our grandchildren after school in an effort to help them get \n\tcaught up academically.  Sarai is a student in her last year at Mary \n\tHardin Baylor University.  Her parents are pastors of a church \n\tfellowship in Houston.  When Hurricane Harvey hit Houston, she left \n\there and made several trips back and forth to transport people and families \n\tfrom Houston who had suffered the loss of their homes.  She went out of \n\ther way to make sure that those families were placed with friends or in \n\thomes where they could be safe and get their bearings for the future.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tShe is an example of something that has been happening over the past months \n\tin this nation.  Chaos and catastrophes are bringing folks together.  \n\tAll of a sudden, names, titles, political parties, church affiliations, \n\tetc., are diminishing.  The prayers and intercession of God\u2019s people is \n\tpaying dividends.  And it must continue!<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tWe are seeing mass murders on a scale that this nation \u2014 and the world \u2014 \n\thave never seen in history.  Terrorism has gained such a foothold that \n\tit has captured everyone\u2019s attention.  Groups like ISIS and Al-Qaida \n\t(sp?) have committed such atrocities that you hear a common refrain from \n\tthose who are religious, but have no real relationship with God, \u201cHow can a \n\tloving God allow these things to happen?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tThe simple answer is that it is not God Who is allowing these things.  \n\tThe Lord has not taken back control of the earth from \u201cthe children of men.\u201d  \n\tThe authority to put a stop to this lies with the believers.  The \n\tauthority to bury the \u201carchons\u201d and \u201ckosmokrators\u201d who drive this wickedness \n\tlies with us as the sons and daughters of God.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tDuring the eight years that the Muslim, Barak Hussein Obama, dwelled in the \n\tWhite House and functioned as the president of the United States, we saw a \n\trelease of such wickedness and perversion in this nation on a scale that \n\tshocked God\u2019s people into action.  Obama professed to be a Christian, \n\tand yet everything he did spoke just the opposite.  He welcomed sexual \n\tperversion and homosexuality as \u201cnorms\u201d instead of following the Biblical \n\tmandate.  He inspired racism and racial wars on a level that surpassed \n\tall the demonstrations of the previous century.  He stopped the \n\tNational Day of Prayer, yet honored Islamic holy days.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tFor years, Christians had been lulled to sleep.  The only reason he was \n\tallowed to become president was because of the spiritual lethargy that had \n\tovertaken our nation.  The wickedness that prevailed in America caused \n\tan awakening long overdue in God\u2019s people.  A prayer movement began \n\twith a few leaders, then expanded across this nation as God\u2019s people began \n\tto wake up and begin fasting and praying.  Leaders like Dutch Sheets \n\tinspired a level of intercession not seen in America in more than a century.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tThere have always been a remnant of God\u2019s people who have been awake \n\tspiritually and cognizant of the authority God has given them \u2014 no matter \n\twhat society has done or how it has functioned.  This was no exception.  \n\tAs far back as 2011, people like George Robinson began to hear from the Lord \n\tthat He was going to raise up a leader over this nation in the person of \n\tDonald Trump, and that Trump was going to be His administrator to clean \n\thouse.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tWhen the election cycle for this past election grew to include 12 different \n\tnominees on the Republican platform, and Donald Trump was among them, he was \n\tprobably the last choice for a long time.  Yet the Lord began to bring \n\thim to a level of prominence and acceptance that astonished even the most \n\texperienced of politicians and pollsters.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tThe election of 2016 was a spiritual watershed in this nation.  It \n\tshook the plans of those whose agenda was the destruction of America.  \n\tIt overturned the plan of Satan to make America weak in the eyes of the \n\tworld.  But it also enraged the demonic forces who thought their plans \n\tfor the destruction of a Christian nation were secure, and it has spurred a \n\tlevel of opposition and spiritual warfare in America as never before.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tDutch Sheets had it right following the election when he said (and I\u2019m \n\tparaphrasing him), \u201cThe time for intercession has only gotten started.  \n\tThis is no time for God\u2019s people to relax.  Now is the time for us to \n\texercise our authority in God, and to know that this battle is yet to be \n\twon.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tLast week, we made the statement that if ever there has been a time when the \n\tbody of Christ needs to understand and walk in true authority \u2014 the \n\tauthority that comes from the Lord Jesus Christ \u2014 that time is now.  \n\tTrue authority is recognized.  If I have to tell you that I have \n\tauthority, the fact is that I don\u2019t!  If it isn\u2019t manifested, there is \n\tsomething really wrong with where I am in Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tBack in the 1940\u2019s, a Lutheran minister in Germany \u2014  Dietrich \n\tBonhoeffer \u2014 wrote a book titled, The Cost of Discipleship<\/i><\/b>.  \n\tBonhoeffer had seen the decline of spiritual commitment in the body of \n\tChrist in Germany and the watering down of relationship.  When Hitler \n\tcame to power and so-called \u201cChristians\u201d began to buy into his mottos, his \n\tbeliefs, his hatred of the Jews, etc., Bonhoeffer resisted with everything \n\tin him.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tHe refused to go along with the Nazi themes and ultimately was arrested, \n\tthrown into prison and tortured.  He refused to capitulate and it cost \n\thim his life.  If I\u2019m not mistaken, his book was written while he was \n\tin prison.  It was a treatise on what it costs to walk with the Lord \n\tand to really know the Lord.  The theme of his book was that true \n\tdiscipleship precedes true authority.  There can be no compromise.  \n\tThere can be no sidestepping a single command of the Lord if we are to be \n\ttrue disciples and to represent the Lord Jesus Christ to the rest of the \n\tworld.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tSt. Francis of Assisi was queried one day on the secret of the authority \n\tpeople saw in him, along with the very evident presence of the Lord.  \n\tHe thought for a minute and then answered.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t\u201cThere are three principles.  First, submit!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tHe paused for a minute and continued.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t\u201cThe second principle is \u2026 submit!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tHe paused once more, obviously having fun, and then said,<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t\u201cThe third principle is \u2026 submit!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tLast week we shared the picture of the centurion who came to Jesus and said, \n\t\u201cI also am a man under authority.\u201d  The centurion had learned that any \n\tauthority residing in and with him was predicated on his submission to the \n\tauthority of those who were in authority over him.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tConsider again, all that Esther went through before she was brought before \n\tXerxes and immediately crowned as his counterpart, his other self and his \n\tqueen.  Hegai saw in Esther all the resident qualities, which, if \n\tbrought into discipline, qualify her as no other woman in the empire to \n\tbecome queen.  Esther was subjected to three-and-a-half years of the \n\tmost intense discipline and preparation.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tDuring those years, not one single woman who had been brought into the house \n\tof the king\u2019s women with the objective of being prepared endured the same \n\tkind of discipline that Esther did.  What the king saw in her was \n\texactly what he desired and knew instinctively that she was qualified.  \n\tThink, for a minute about what it cost Esther to come to that point.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tShe had to give up her \u201cJewishness.\u201d  She had to hide her real \n\tidentity.  Though she had been being groomed to become the bride of \n\tMordecai (and indeed, she loved and revered him) she had to cancel out any \n\tthought and totally put aside the plans and the grooming she had already \n\tgone through.  She had to become something and someone that was \n\tanathema to the children of Israel \u2014 part and party of and to the nation \n\tthat had taken her people into captivity.  She had to be grilled and \n\tdrilled with the laws of the Medes and Persians and to become fluent and \n\timmersed in the ways of the Persian court.  More than that, she had to \n\timmerse herself in knowing the very nature and makeup of a king she\u2019d never \n\tspent so much as five minutes with.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tIt was three and a half years of the most intense discipline anyone could \n\tpossibly imagine.  There was nothing \u201cfun\u201d or enjoyable about any part \n\tof it.  Yet the fruit of that discipline produced a serenity and a \n\tgrace in an 18-year-old Esther that belied her years.  The preparation \n\tthat she endured enabled her to sit as co-regent with her husband, King \n\tXerxes, for 14 years before he was assassinated, and then to guide and steer \n\ttheir son, Artaxerxes I, for the next 40 years as Queen Mother.  Under \n\ther guidance, Nehemiah became the king\u2019s cupbearer and was subsequently \n\tnamed as Governor of Judah. <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tUnder Esther\u2019s guidance, Ezra was able to return with a contingent of \n\tpraisers and worshippers and rebuild the temple in Jerusalem.  For 54 \n\tyears, Esther was able to guide and exercise a spiritual authority behind \n\tthe scenes that paid dividends for Israel and enabled those in captivity to \n\tultimately return home.  Was the discipline worth it?  Compared to \n\tthe years that she was able to exercise real authority, the three-and-a-half \n\tyears were nothing.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tIt is a principle that has been largely lost in the body of Christ.  \n\tAuthority \u2014 true authority \u2014 costs!  Those who are handed authority \n\twithout the cost and discipline that prepares one for it wind up bringing \n\tchaos and disaster.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tWitness the still very young Kim Jung Un in North Korea, who was handed the \n\tpresidency at age 22 with no prior training or preparation to rule.  He \n\tnever served in the military, nor underwent the necessary discipline or \n\tunderstanding that goes with the years of experience.  His actions yet \n\ttoday are that of an undisciplined child who petulantly demands his way.  \n\tThe nation of North Korea is suffering under his lack of discipline.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

 <\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tThere is much more ground to cover in dealing with spiritual authority, and \n\tthat which God has given, as well as the responsibilities and anointing that \n\tgo with that authority.  We will continue to explore this in the days \n\tand weeks to come.<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tWhen I was in my typing class in my first year of college, we had a phrase \n\twe used to test our typing speed and skill: Now is the time for all good \n\tmen to come to the aid of their country.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tAMEN!  NOW IS THE TIME FOR ALL GOD\u2019S PEOPLE TO ARISE IN HIS AUTHORITY!!<\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\tI\u2019m going to stop here for today.  Next week we will consider the \n\tprocesses and the preparation that must take place in order for us to walk \n\tin the authority that has been made available to us as sons and daughters of \n\tthe Most High.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n\t

\n\t\n\t <\/span><\/p>\n\t
