Spiritual Hierarchy & Authority, Part 17<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

We have lots of territory to cover\ntoday, so let\u2019s get right to it.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\ndeath aspect of "sound" is exhibited in that which went forth when\nthe Serpent opened his mouth.\u00a0 <\/span>The very\nfirst thing we see of his "sound" is the questioning of God\u2019s\nmotives.\u00a0 <\/span>The first thing that comes\nforth from his onoma is lies, as he says to Eve,<\/span> \u201cYe shall not\nsurely die.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\neffect of listening to the sound of the Serpent was deadly.\u00a0 <\/span>It raised questions in Adam and Eve --\nquestions which were\u00a0 <\/span>predicated on\nlies.\u00a0 <\/span>It caused them to question God's\nvery onoma.\u00a0 <\/span>It caused them to eat of the\nTree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/span>Listening to, and heeding the "sound of the Serpent" caused\nthem to "know" good and evil -- to begin making judgments based on their<\/i>\ndetermination of what was "good" and "evil."<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Every\nsound which goes forth in the earth today which emanates from man, emanates\nfrom that spirit which resides within.\u00a0\n<\/span>Because we are first and foremost "spirit beings," that which\ncomes forth from us becomes the voice of that spirit which we allow to be in\ncontrol of our existence.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

There\nis another aspect of "sound" which most of us relate to much\nmore\u00a0 <\/span>readily: music.\u00a0 <\/span>Regardless of what kind of music is played or\nsung, that music comes forth from spirit -- whether it be the spirit of man,\nthe Spirit of God, or evil spirits who are directed by Satan.\u00a0 <\/span>Music, therefore, which comes forth from or\nthrough us as ministry to the Lord is motivated and orchestrated by the Holy\nSpirit.\u00a0 <\/span>This is a form of worship.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Jesus\nmade the statement that <\/span>"God is a Spirit, and they that worship Him must worship\nHim in Spirit and in truth."\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Worship music --\ntrue worship music, that is -- flows through us by the Holy Spirit as we extol\nand exalt the Lord Jesus Christ.\u00a0 <\/span>True\nworship need not have any words.\u00a0\n<\/span>Consider that the worship which we have been experienced within our\nlocal Ekklesia is at times spontaneous, sometimes lacks words, and yet has a\nlife and power which defy rational explanation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Music\nwhich we often refer to as "Praise" generally flows from our\nintellect.\u00a0 <\/span>That may seem contradictory\nto what has just been stated, so let me clarify.\u00a0 <\/span>Worship -- genuine worship -- bypasses the\nintellect\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>completely.\u00a0 <\/span>It is spirit ministering to Spirit.\u00a0 <\/span>We can better describe worship as our\nspirit -- totally yielded to and motivated by the Holy Spirit -- ministering\npure love to the Lord Jesus Christ<\/i>.<\/o:p><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Praise\ncan operate in the realm of the spirit, but it has a totally different\nfunction.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Praise\nbegins in our intellect as a decision of our will to extol, to laud, to exalt\nthe Lord -- specifically to glory in the things which He has done.\u00a0 <\/span>It may continue into the realm of the spirit\nand may be addressed to the Lord, but it differs dramatically from\nworship.\u00a0 <\/span>Where worship ministers love to<\/i>\nthe Lord, praise speaks of<\/i> the Lord and His mighty works, and is often\nintended for specifically showing the world that which the Lord has done.\u00a0 <\/span>It is also used to conduct warfare.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\ncan liken Praise to ministry which goes forth from the Holy Place.\u00a0 <\/span>Worship is the exclusive domain of the Holy\nof Holies.\u00a0 <\/span>One can praise without the\ninvitation or initiation of the Holy Spirit, (And, as we all have seen, there\nis a realm of praise which exalts and extols the works of Satan, and promotes\nthose works within men and women) but one cannot worship without the invitation\nand\/or initiation of the Holy Spirit.\u00a0\n<\/span>Both praise and worship are <\/span>onoma-<\/span><\/i><\/b>based and have a\ndistinctive sound which separates and identifies the source <\/span>onoma.<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That\nsound which comes forth in the world today as popular music, rock music,\ncountry music, etc., has a spiritual origin and an <\/span>onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span><\/b>which drives\nit.\u00a0 <\/span>One of the tragedies of our society,\nand particularly the Body of Christ, is the sound which permeates it.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Our\nsociety is permeated by sounds which by only the broadest definition of the\nterm are classified as "music."\u00a0\n<\/span>Without launching into an attack on any of the various kinds of\n"music," it will suffice to say that every piece of music is\nmotivated by some spirit.\u00a0 <\/span>Every piece of\nmusic originates in some onoma.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b>Every piece of music has a\ndefinite and specific spiritual purpose\u00a0\n<\/span>-- whether the "writer," or "composer," or\n"author" has any conscious awareness of that fact.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Much\nof what we have referred to as "contemporary Christian music" is also\nmotivated and originated by a spirit.\u00a0\n<\/span>It, likewise, originates in some <\/span>onoma.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b>It, too, has a specific purpose and goal in\nits going forth.\u00a0 <\/span>It is a sound and by\nspecific inference, conveys either life or death, power or weakness, authority\nor fear, health or sickness.\u00a0 <\/span>A sad fact\nof life is that a substantial portion of the so-called "Christian"\nmusic is neither "Christian," nor music.\u00a0 <\/span>It is<\/b> a sound to be sure, but a sound\nwhich emanates from evil spirits.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I\nknow that statement will raise a lot of eyebrows, so let me again clarify what\nI am saying.\u00a0 <\/span>Just because\n"music" has words which supposedly speak of the Lord, quotes\nscriptures, or allegedly "praises" Him, it does not necessarily\nindicate that this music emanates from the Spirit of the Lord.\u00a0 <\/span>One of the most expert quoters of scripture\nis Satan, himself.\u00a0 <\/span>This is evidenced in\nthe way he quoted scriptures, attempting to trap Jesus and seduce Him into\nyielding to his design.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Just\nbecause a piece of music supposedly promotes the Lord, it does not\nautomatically follow that it is good, life-giving, or given to foster an\nintimate relationship with Him.\u00a0\n<\/span>Throughout the Body of Christ today a multitude of the songs which are\nsung either promote a\u00a0 <\/span>religious doctrine\nof man which originates in Babylon (which is the spirit of the church system),\nor attempt to seduce God's people into a passivity designed to placate them in\ntheir spiritual state.\u00a0 <\/span>What matters is\nnot nearly so much the words which are sung, but rather the spirit which is\nbehind the sound.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It\nmay seem that I\u2019ve really gone astray from the principle of spiritual authority\nand hierarchy, but what I\u2019m trying to demonstrate to you is the fact that\nbecause we were and are created in the image of God, what we speak (or sing)\ncomes from an <\/span>onoma <\/span><\/i><\/b>which has creative authority.\u00a0 <\/span>Every word we speak has a creative element to\nit.\u00a0 <\/span>There is creative authority in our\nvoices \u2014 and that is an authority we cannot get away from, like it or not!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Now,\nlet me get into some territory that may get me into trouble (in case I\u2019m not\nalready there!)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Two\ndifferent individuals can sing or play the very same piece of music and\ncommunicate two totally opposite things.\u00a0\n<\/span>It is not so much the series of words which have been strung\ntogether.\u00a0 <\/span>It is not so much the sequence\nof notes which are played, or even the instruments which are used.\u00a0 <\/span>The same instrument can be used by two\ndifferent musicians and still communicate two totally opposite <\/span>onomas.<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n\n

A\nguitar in the hands of one person can communicate and immerse the listener in\nthe presence of the Lord.\u00a0 <\/span>In the hands\nof another, it can subject them to a spirit of anger, hate, vengeance or fear.\u00a0 <\/span>And the two musicians can play the very same\nsequence of notes!\u00a0 <\/span>The difference is the\n<\/span>onoma <\/span><\/i><\/b>of the spirit which originates the sound.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Many\nof God's people are duped into accepting certain "Gospel Songs"\u00a0 <\/span>because they are categorized as such by the\nwords, or the individuals singing or playing them.\u00a0 <\/span>What they fail to realize is that they are\nbeing systematically lulled into spiritual lethargy by religious spirits driven\nand motivated by Satan.\u00a0 <\/span>Because it\n"sounds" good to their mind, their emotions, or their flesh, it must\ntherefore be "good!"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nobjective purpose of this music is not life, health, power, a sound mind,\nand\/or most of all, an intimate love relationship with Jesus Christ.\u00a0 <\/span>It is to keep people "fat and\nhappy" with their present spiritual state, to satiate the appetites of the\nflesh in the name of Jesus, and to lead people down a\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>primrose path which will deprive them of\never entering into the kind of love relationship with Jesus Christ which He so\ngreatly desires.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The whole objective of the "Sound of worship"\nmust be<\/span><\/i><\/b>\nso that the desires and purposes of our Bridegroom, the Lord Jesus Christ,\nare fulfilled.\u00a0 <\/span>It cannot and must not be\nfor what we get from that music, or from Him!\u00a0\n<\/span>True worship does not satiate the flesh: it ministers life.<\/o:p><\/b><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n

That\nthe sound of many so-called \u201cgospel songs\u201d is driven and\u00a0 <\/span>motivated by an <\/span>onoma <\/span><\/i><\/b>which is\nantagonistic to the purposes of our Bridegroom is evident in the fact that\npeople are not<\/i><\/b> <\/i>drawn to follow the Lord Jesus Christ into\nthe furnace of affliction for processing and preparation.\u00a0 <\/span>They listen, they tap their feet, they clap\ntheir hands, they get \u201chappy,\u201d but they don\u2019t respond to the heart\u2019s desire of\nJesus Christ for intimacy.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It\nis the sound which carries this music.\u00a0\n<\/span>That sound is motivated by spirits whose entire existence revolves and\nthrives to defeat the desires of the Bridegroom.\u00a0 <\/span>The same is true of the large majority of the\npopular music of the day.\u00a0 <\/span>A\npreponderance of the entire rock or rap genre is not even passive about its\nopposition to the Spirit of the Lord.\u00a0\n<\/span>The substance of the sound is acid to one's spirit, and corrosively\ndestructive to one's whole being.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Because,\nas we have previously noted, the sound is the "voice" of some <\/span>onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b>, the purpose and\nintent of that "being," whether it be life or death, is\ncommunicated.\u00a0 <\/span>More than that, it has a\nforce which is either creative or destructive.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

No\nsound is passive.\u00a0 <\/span>No sound simply\nentertains.\u00a0 <\/span>No sound simply communicates\na thought or idea.\u00a0 <\/span>Life or death,\nstrength or weakness, faith or fear, hope or despair, blessing or cursing are\nliterally transmitted by the sound.\u00a0 <\/span>One\nbecomes virtually immersed in the onoma which originates the sound.\u00a0 <\/span>This results in change -- for the better or\nfor the worse.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Observe,\nif you will, some examples recorded in scripture.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Mark\nrecords numerous incidents when Jesus came face to face with individuals under\nthe control or dominance of evil spirits.\u00a0\n<\/span>In Mark 1:21-26 an event is recorded in which Jesus was speaking in a\nsynagogue.\u00a0 <\/span>In this instance, sound is\ncoming forth.\u00a0 <\/span>Life is coming out of\nJesus' <\/span>onoma.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b>Mark tells us that\nthose present were immersed in His authority.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

There\nwas a man present in the synagogue who had <\/span>"an unclean\nspirit."\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>The longer Jesus\nspoke, and the more His authority was manifested, the more fearful this spirit\nbecame until it could take Jesus' presence and spirit no longer.\u00a0 <\/span>All evil spirits display fear in some\u00a0 <\/span>measure or another because it is a major part\nof the <\/span>onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b>\nof Satan.\u00a0 <\/span>This occurrence was no\ndifferent.\u00a0 <\/span>The evil spirit could no\nlonger stand the power and authority being manifested and it screamed out in\nfear, <\/span>"What have we to do with you, Jesus of Nazareth?\u00a0 <\/span>Have you come to destroy us?....."<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nsound of Jesus was power and authority.\u00a0\n<\/span>The sound of the evil spirit was fear.\u00a0\n<\/span>Jesus had not even been speaking to either the man in whom the evil\nspirit resided, or the evil spirit.\u00a0 <\/span>The\nsound of His life was simply filling that room.\u00a0\n<\/span>When the evil spirit screamed out, Jesus spoke simple words of His\nauthority -- The Ultimate Authority!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

"Be quiet, and come out of him." <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>No doctrines, no preaching, no teaching, just\na simple address: <\/span>"Be quiet, and come out of him."\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>The result was instantaneous.\u00a0 <\/span>The man in whom the evil spirit had resided\nconvulsed, the unclean spirit screamed out again in terror, and departed him in\nhaste.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Consider\nthe many examples in the record of Jesus' deliverance of the Gadarene\ndemoniac.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus has just been on the\nSea of Gennesaret (sometimes called the Sea of Chinnereth) with his\ndisciples.\u00a0 <\/span>A storm, which was obviously\ncreated by Satan, arose and began filling their boat with water.\u00a0 <\/span>(The Greek text describes this storm as a\ngreat "shaking" of the sea as though being moved violently by some\nexternal force.)\u00a0 <\/span>It was an abnormal\nstorm, to be sure, and it caught the disciples off guard.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

They\nbecame fearful because of the cyclonic sound of the whirlwind (The Greek text\nuses the word, <\/span>lailaps, <\/span><\/i><\/b>for whirling wind or cyclone), and the sight of waves\nbreaking over the boat, and they cried out in fear, <\/span>"Master,\ndo you not care that we are perishing<\/span>?"<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus, being awakened from a peaceful sleep\nin the stern of the boat, simply looks at the storm and speaks peace, <\/span>"Hush!\u00a0 <\/span>Be still!"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Once\nagain you have a sound.\u00a0 <\/span>This time it is\nnot an articulate sound as in speech, it is the sound of the onoma of\nSatan.\u00a0 <\/span>It is the sound of violence, and\nits obvious intention is the death and destruction of Jesus and His\ndisciples.\u00a0 <\/span>The sound of this great shaking\nof the sea, combined with the sound of the cyclone or whirlwind, produced\nexactly the desired effect in the disciples: fear<\/i><\/b>.\u00a0 <\/span>And this is the\nsound which now comes forth from them.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Upon\nbeing aroused, Jesus also utters a sound.\u00a0\n<\/span>Again, this sound is the sound of His onoma,<\/i> and it is the sound\nof absolute authority.\u00a0 <\/span>He speaks three\nsimple words, <\/span>"Hush!\u00a0 <\/span>Be\nstill!" <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The instantaneous effect is the proof of that <\/span>onoma: <\/span><\/i><\/b>the winds ceased,\nand the waters were suddenly calm.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Consider\nthe fact that this storm would have easily been visible from both sides of the\nsea.\u00a0 <\/span>They were crossing from Galilee to\nthe district of Gadara -- a distance of roughly five to seven miles.\u00a0 <\/span>A storm of the described magnitude would have\nswamped the entire region.\u00a0 <\/span>When that\nsound of authority came forth from Jesus, it didn't just become calm where they\nwere situated: the entire storm -- from end-to-end -- ceased instantly.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Sound\nand light went forth at creation.\u00a0\n<\/span>Authority manifested.\u00a0 <\/span>My\nobjective in taking this direction in our sharing is to show you just how\nsignificant the authority is that was built into us and infused into our very\nmakeup, character and essence when we came into this world.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\u2019ve\nstill got a ways to go with this discussion, so let\u2019s pause here and pick it up\nnext week.\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n
