Spiritual Hierarchy & Authority, Part 23<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

We left off last week after starting a comparative list of\nthe striking parallels between Adam and Jesus, and the events that\nunfolded.\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus literally had to reverse\nevery step that occurred when Adam ate of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and\nEvil.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Adam\nand Eve's son, Abel, found acceptance in the\neyes of the Lord<\/span><\/u> <\/span><\/b>because of\nthe sacrifice of his firstborn lambs as an offering to Him. \u00a0<\/span><\/span>He was killed by his jealous brother<\/span><\/u>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Jesus' brethren killed Him<\/span><\/u><\/b>, <\/span><\/b>making Him The Lamb who was offered up as an atoning sacrifice,\nan offering acceptable in the eyes of God the Father<\/u> <\/span><\/b>-- and\nunder the Law!<\/o:p><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The Serpent had subdued Adam and Eve<\/span><\/u><\/b> <\/span><\/b>under him and his\npower, along with all of their descendants, making\nthem subservient to his wishes and commands<\/span><\/u>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Jesus subdued the Serpent<\/span><\/u><\/b>, <\/span><\/b>and crushed his\npower under His heel, <\/span>making Satan and all his hordes of spirits subservient to\nthose descendants of Adam and Eve who would become One with Him.<\/o:p><\/span><\/u><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Though\nHe went to the Cross as a meek and mild Lamb, offered up in order to redeem His\nintended Bride, the Lamb of God took \u2014 and now possesses, once and for all \u2014\nthe Crown and the Throne!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let\u2019s\nshift gears now and take a look at the Throne of God the Father.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

A\npattern of the Throne was laid out for that chosen people called as a pattern\nof the Bride, Israel.\u00a0 <\/span>It began with\nGod's promise to Abraham (see Genesis 15:18-21) to give to him and to his\ndescendants, the lands of the Hittites, the Hivites (referred to in Genesis 15\nas "the Rephaim"), the Perizzites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the\nGirgashites and the Jebusites.\u00a0 <\/span>Three\nother nations -- the Kenites, the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites -- were also\nmentioned as being a part of Abraham's inheritance, but the other seven are the\nobject of particular interest in this study, since God commanded the\ndestruction and removal of these seven nations.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nLand of Inheritance, which was referred to in an overall sense as Canaan, was a\npicture -- a metaphor, if you please -- of Eden, the Garden of God.\u00a0 <\/span>Under the premise that Adam and Eve would\nbecome "gods" if they would eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good\nand Evil, the Serpent, Satan, robbed them of the land of their inheritance.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

There\nwas a unique significance to the naming of each of the seven nations which\noccupied Canaan.\u00a0 <\/span>Each name represented\nan <\/span>onoma.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b>Each <\/span>onoma <\/span><\/i><\/b>was a part of the\noverall makeup of Satan, and characterized one of the seven dominant spirits of\nSatan(**see note).\u00a0 <\/span>The collective total\nof the seven represented the makeup, the character, the identity, the very\nessence of Satan.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

(**Note:\nSome have questioned the idea that there are seven dominant spirits which make\nup the totality of Satan, but one must remember that he was created by God\noriginally as Lucifer.\u00a0 <\/span>Ezekiel was\ninstructed by the Lord to take up a prophecy against him.\u00a0 <\/span>Part of that prophecy incorporates the\nfollowing statements:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Ezekiel 28:12-14<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>"You\nhad the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty; ......On the\nday that you were created, they <\/span>[every precious stone] <\/span><\/b>were\nprepared.\u00a0 <\/span>You were the anointed cherub\nwho covers, and I placed you there<\/span>."<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/span>The number, seven, representative of God, is\nthe number of perfection.\u00a0 <\/span>Ezekiel also\nstates in his prophecy that <\/span>"You were internally filled\nwith violence, and you sinned; Therefore I have cast you as profane from the\nmountain of God." <\/span>(verse\n16)\u00a0 <\/span>Therefore, although Lucifer was\ncreated as the "seal of perfection," he "profaned" that\nperfection, changing and perverting the onoma of each spirit within his\nmakeup.)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Just\nas a curse had been pronounced on the Serpent for his deception, lies, and\ntheft of Adam and Eve's inheritance, so had a curse also been pronounced upon\nCanaan.\u00a0 <\/span>If you will recall an event\nwhich took place following the abatement of the Flood when Noah and his sons\nhad established vineyards in the region of Ararat, Ham went into his father's\ntent after Noah became drunk.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\nare told (Genesis 8:22) that Ham <\/span>"saw the\nnakedness of his father, and <\/span>[<\/span>nagad<\/span><\/i><\/b>]<\/span> <\/span>told\nhis two brothers outside."<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nparticular usage of this word, <\/span>nagad<\/span><\/i><\/b>, in this instance\nis in the sense of: bragging; showing a thing openly; making a public\nexhibition of something.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nusage of the phrase, "[he] <\/span><\/b><\/span>saw\nthe nakedness of <\/span>(his father...")<\/span><\/b> <\/span><\/b>occurs numerous times throughout the Old\nTestament with a specific significance.\u00a0\n<\/span>It is a Hebrew metaphor which means: to take advantage of; to uncover\nfor the purpose of intercourse; to benefit from seeing one's weaknesses and\nprofit therefrom.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In\nthis instance we are given a picture of Ham taking advantage of his father's\ndrunken state in order to have homosexual intercourse.\u00a0 <\/span>That picture is further clarified in the\nstatement in verse 24, <\/span>"When Noah awoke from his wine, he knew what his youngest\nson had done to him."<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Canaan\nwas Ham's firstborn son.\u00a0 <\/span>He represented\nHam's future, his inheritance in the land.\u00a0\n<\/span>He also carried the aberrant seed of his father.\u00a0 <\/span>Noah therefore pronounced God's curse upon\nthat seed, and all who would come forth from Canaan.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Each\nof the seven nations, upon whom God's judgment fell, descended from\nCanaan.\u00a0 <\/span>The Hittites were the sons of\nHeth, Canaan's second born son.\u00a0 <\/span>The\nJebusites were descended from Jerus, the son of Canaan, whose name was changed\nto Jebus by his children because of his propensity for "crushing"\neverything in his path -- even his wheat and grains.\u00a0 <\/span>The Amorites were the sons of Emor.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nCanaanites <\/span>were\ndescended from Sidon, Canaan's firstborn son, and became an amalgamation of the\ndescendants of several sons.\u00a0 <\/span>And so it\nwent.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Each\nnation represented one of the seven dominant spirits of Satan.\u00a0 <\/span>Without getting into a study of each of them,\nI will simply identify each nation with its presiding spirit.\u00a0 <\/span>Each of these spirits, incidentally, is\nidentified otherwise in Scripture, and Paul refers to them in Ephesians 6 as <\/span>kosmokrator<\/span><\/i><\/b>: world rulers of\ndarkness.\u00a0 <\/span>(We\u2019ve talked about this at\nlength already.)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Each\nnation\/presiding spirit is listed below:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

(1) <\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span>The Fear of Evil<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

(2) <\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span>The Fear of Man,\u00a0 <\/span>(3) <\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span>The Fear of Death,\u00a0 <\/span>(4)\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>Rebellion\/Witchcraft*,\u00a0 <\/span>(5) <\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Pride\/\nThreshing**,\u00a0 <\/span>(6)<\/span><\/b>\u00a0 <\/span>Democracy***,\u00a0\n<\/span>(7) <\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Greed\/Merchandising****<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

* * * *\n* * * * * * * * * * * * *<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Notes:*\u00a0 <\/span>The presiding spirit of the Amorites, which\nwe have identified as Rebellion and\/or Witchcraft, was clearly exhibited in the\ncharacteristics of Jezebel, whose father was an Amorite king.\u00a0 <\/span>The Amorites sought to control others through\nwitchcraft, and were the undisputed masters of hierarchical government.\u00a0 <\/span>The spirit of Jezebel was responsible for\nblurring the lines between male and female, and perverting sexual relationships\nto the extreme.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

**\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>The Jebusites were a proud, arrogant people\nwho were noted for "threshing," a technique by which wheat and other\ngrains were winnowed and beaten.\u00a0 <\/span>The end\nproduct was good for nothing but preparation in breads and pastries, it was\nlacking in real nutrition.\u00a0 <\/span>Because of\nthe way in which the grains were threshed, the seeds could not be planted, and\nno new harvest could come forth.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

***\u00a0 <\/span>The spirit of Democracy prevailed among the\nPerizzites.\u00a0 <\/span>Their national motto was\n"Openness with All."\u00a0 <\/span>Their\nversion of "love" was what we have come to call "sloppy\nagape."\u00a0 <\/span>They had no qualms about counterfeiting\nfellowship and open relationships with people of other nations and tribes for\nthe purpose of gaining control over them.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

****\nThe Canaanites were noted for greed.\u00a0\n<\/span>They engaged in all manner of business and trade.\u00a0 <\/span>There was nothing they would not sell for a\nprice -- including their friends and relatives.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

All\nof the seed of Canaan, no matter what nation or tribe, carried the genesis of\nHam's sexual perversion, and it became part and parcel of their existence, and\ntheir cultic religious rites.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

* * * *\n* * * * * * * * * * * * *<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

All\nof the things described above were intolerable in God's people, and the Lord\nwarned them against intermarriage and intermingling of any kind with any of the\nabove nations.\u00a0 <\/span>Prior to Moses' death,\nand Joshua's taking command, Moses stood before the people to deliver the\nfollowing word of the Lord,<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Deuteronomy 7:1-11, NASB<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span><\/span>When the Lord your God shall\nbring you into the land where you are entering to possess it, and shall clear\naway many nations before you -- the Hittites and the Girgashites and the\nAmorites and the Canaanites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the\nJebusites -- seven nations greater and stronger than you, and when the Lord\nyour God shall deliver them before you, and you shall defeat them, then<\/u>\nyou shall utterly destroy them.\u00a0 <\/span>You\nshall make no covenant with them<\/u> and show no favor<\/u> to them.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Furthermore, you shall not intermarry<\/u> with them; you\nshall not give your daughters<\/u> to their sons, nor shall you take their\ndaughters<\/u> for your sons.\u00a0 <\/span>For they will\nturn your sons away from following Me to serve other gods; then the anger of\nthe Lord will be kindled against you, and He will quickly destroy you.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

But thus shall you do to them: you shall tear down their altars,\nand smash their sacred pillars and hew down their Asherim<\/span>\n(idols to Ashtaroth<\/span>), and burn their graven images\nwith fire.\u00a0 <\/span>For you are a holy people to\nthe Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for His own\npossession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In\nspite of the very specific command of the Lord concerning these seven nations,\nand the fact that He clearly identified them as a chosen and holy people set\napart unto Him, they did exactly as they were commanded not<\/b> to do.\u00a0 <\/span>They intermarried with the nations.\u00a0 <\/span>They began to worship their idols and other\ngods.\u00a0 <\/span>They made covenants with them to\nkeep them alive.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

They\nbegan to engage in the idolatrous and licentious practices which perverted\ntheir relationship with the Lord.\u00a0 <\/span>And\nthe Lord did exactly what He said He would do if they did not follow His very\nspecific commands: He allowed Israel to ultimately be taken captive by these\nvery peoples and spread abroad throughout the earth.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Israel\nwas given the opportunity to overcome the Serpent.\u00a0 <\/span>She was given a chance to regain the throne\nwhich was her promised inheritance.\u00a0 <\/span>Just\nas Adam and Eve were driven from the Garden because they compromised with, and\nsuccumbed to, the wiles of the Serpent, Israel was driven from the land of its\ninheritance because it compromised with, and intermingled with the seven\naccursed nations.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

What\nIsrael failed to accomplish in the natural realm as a pattern for the\nBride-to-be of the Lord God, the Holy Spirit identified once again as His intention\nfor the Bride of Christ to accomplish.\u00a0\n<\/span>It became a mandate for the first-century Ekklesias.\u00a0 <\/span>These seven presiding spirits did not just\ndisappear when their nations were conquered, killed or dispersed.\u00a0 <\/span>They simply took on a new camouflage.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In\nwriting to the seven Ekklesias in Asia Minor, John the Beloved wrote a graphic\ndescription of how these same spirits had infected the Body of Christ.\u00a0 <\/span>While the seven letters were written to seven\ndifferent Ekklesias, they collectively represented a picture of the Bride, and\ntherefore became a single letter.\u00a0 <\/span>Each\nEkklesia was struggling with a particular spirit.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Each\nletter became an address to overcome one of those seven spirits.\u00a0 <\/span>Each Ekklesia represented both a segment of\nthe Bride, and an area of overcoming.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nseven letters -- in succession -- draw a progressive picture of the return path\nto the Throne of God, The Lamb and His Bride.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This\nis territory we have covered in some detail in the past years, and it isn\u2019t my\nintention to rehash the same studies, but I need to draw some parallels for you\nthat I believe will help in understanding the progression that is laid out for\nus in the Revelation that John wrote \u2014 a progression of our return to total\nauthority.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nlevels of authority that God has for us do not come automatically.\u00a0 <\/span>There is a cost associated with each level,\nand that cost is manifested in our overcoming the Enemy, his lies, his\nsubterfuge, his deception and his corruption of the Word of God.\u00a0 <\/span>That\u2019s where we will go next week.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n
