David\u2019s Tabernacle Restored, Part 1<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

October 26, 2018<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Over the next few weeks, I\u2019d like to\ntake you to a vision that the Lord gave to me beginning back in the early\n1970\u2019s when I was at Long Beach Christian Center.\u00a0 <\/span>That was only a beginning.\u00a0 <\/span>In the years that have gone by since, this\nvision has grown again, and again, and again.\u00a0\n<\/span>Just when I think I\u2019ve gotten to a full understanding of what God was\ndoing, he peels away another layer of revelation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

I suppose it actually\nbegan much earlier during my first visit to Heaven in 1951, and the\nconversation I had with David.\u00a0 <\/span>That\nconversation planted many seeds in my spirit but it was in 1973 that things\nfirst began to jell.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Isaiah\u2019s prophecy\nregarding the re-establishment of the Tabernacle of David, followed by Amos\u2019\nprophecy, and then seeing it repeated in Acts, caused me to begin taking a\nserious look at what David\u2019s Tabernacle actually was, and why God was so\ninsistent that the day would come when He would again rebuild the Tabernacle of\nDavid.\u00a0 <\/span>Nothing was being said about\nrebuilding the Temple of Solomon, so there had to be an enormous significance\nin God\u2019s economy to what David accomplished.\u00a0\n<\/span>Besides, his Tabernacle was a far cry from the Tabernacle that Moses\nbuilt.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In\norder for us to grasp the significance of these prophecies, and see what David\nhad in his heart, we need to go back to the time when David was still a\nshepherd boy, sitting on the hillsides, tending his father\u2019s sheep.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Something\nwas birthed in his heart that began to develop concerning the heart of the\nLord.\u00a0 <\/span>It eventually consumed him.\u00a0 <\/span>In my conversation with David during my first\nvisit to Heaven, I asked him how it was possible for him to write such glorious\nprayers, praise and worship in the Psalms.\u00a0\n<\/span>His answer spelled it out pretty clearly.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u201cOh,\nI didn\u2019t write all of that,\u201d he laughed, \u201cI just sang what I heard coming out\nof Heaven.\u00a0 <\/span>It wasn\u2019t original with me,\nit was what the Holy Spirit was planting in my spirit.\u00a0 <\/span>That made it easy.\u00a0 <\/span>I just sang what I heard coming out of\nHeaven, and because it stayed in my spirit, I was able to write it down.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nmany hundreds of hours that David spent in the presence of the Lord during\nthose times of praise and worship birthed in him a recognition and an insight\ninto the desires of the Lord in a way that nothing else could have\naccomplished.\u00a0 <\/span>David\u2019s pursuit was the\nimmediate and ongoing presence of the Lord.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

He\nalso saw what that presence did for him in terms of protection.\u00a0 <\/span>You\u2019ll recall that he killed both a lion and\na bear when they came after his sheep, both events takin place with\nsupernatural enablement.\u00a0 <\/span>All David had\nin hand was a sling \u2014 no .357 Magnum Glock or .475 Winchester.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

A\nday comes when David is about 17 years of age.\u00a0\n<\/span>He is brought before Samuel, the prophet, and anointed to become King\nover Israel.\u00a0 <\/span>What is about to begin for\nDavid is some 13 years of testing what God has developed in him.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In\nthose intervening years, he will face the armies of the Philistines and kill\nhundreds of them, face down kill the giant, Goliath, with nothing more than a\nsingle stone from his sling, be brought before King Saul who was demonically\ntormented and watch the demons flee as he worshiped with his harp.\u00a0 <\/span>The crowds were going to hear of his exploits\nand begin to sing, Saul has killed his thousands, but David his\nten-thousands.\u00a0 <\/span>Saul was going to see and\nknow the anointing of God over David and be extremely jealous of him,\nultimately setting out to kill him.\u00a0\n<\/span>David was going to have to be on the run for his life for many of those\nyears.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Finally,\nwhen Saul was killed in battle, along with David\u2019s best friend Jonathan (Saul\u2019s\nson), the Elders of the tribe of Judah placed a crown on David\u2019s head and made\nhim to be King over Judah.\u00a0 <\/span>It would\nstill be another three years \u2014when David had just turned 33 years of age \u2014 that\nthe Elders of the remaining tribes of Israel agreed that David should be King\nover the whole nation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\npursuit of the presence of the Lord still consumed David \u2014 even to a greater\ndegree after all these years.\u00a0 <\/span>He had\nseen into the heart of the Lord and knew what could happen to the nation if\nthey returned to the Lord with their whole hearts.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

David\u2019s\nfirst major act as King of Israel, therefore, was to retrieve the Ark of the\nCovenant, which had been captured and removed from the Tabernacle of Moses,\ntaken by the Philistines \u2014 and then when they saw what destruction their act\nbrought upon them, dumped back into Israel in Kirjath-jearim to the house of\nAbinadab.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In\nDavid\u2019s anxiety and haste to bring the Ark back, he forgot the protocols that\nGod had instructed concerning the transport of the Ark.\u00a0 <\/span>The Ark was placed on a cart, pulled by oxen,\nto be transported to Jerusalem (see II Samuel 6).\u00a0 <\/span>Big mistake!\u00a0\n<\/span>When the oxen stumbled and the cart looked unstable, Uzzah put forth his\nhand to stabilize the Ark and died on the spot.\u00a0\n<\/span>David quickly moved the ark to the house of Obed-Edom where he had to\nre-think the proper protocols for the Ark\u2019s transport.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Consider\nthe celebration that took place when the Ark of the Covenant then went forth\ncarried by the priests as they entered Jerusalem!\u00a0 <\/span>David was so excited about what was taking\nplace that he literally lost his clothes in the energetic and almost furious\ndancing that happened.\u00a0 <\/span>We will get into\nthis a bit more in the weeks to come.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

David\u2019s\nheart was to see that Ark ensconced in public view for all Israel to see.\u00a0 <\/span>More than that, he wanted that Ark \u2014\nrepresenting the marriage covenant between God and Israel \u2014 surrounded by that\nsame sound of praise and worship he had experienced sitting on the hillsides as\nhe ministered to the Lord.\u00a0 <\/span>David knew\nthat there was a secret in this praise and worship of which Israel did not have\nany grasp.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Now\nhe selects three families out of the priesthood \u2014 Levites all of them \u2014 who\nhave a specific anointing in the realm of praise and worship.\u00a0 <\/span>Of course they are going to receive\nrevelation and mentoring from David, and each family had a different anointing.\u00a0 <\/span>Coupled together, they would minister to the\nLord in shifts around the clock so that praise and worship would go forth on a\n24-hour daily basis.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Nothing\nlike this had ever happened in Israel\u2019s history.\u00a0 <\/span>In fact nothing like this had ever happened\nin history, PERIOD!\u00a0 <\/span>David was enacting\nthe heart of God in a way that was going to bring change to Israel, and to the\nsurrounding nations.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Consider\nwhat took place over the next 33 years as this ministry to the Lord took place!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Israel\nnever lost a battle against its enemies.\u00a0\n<\/span>Whenever the Philistines came against them, they were defeated and\nalmost eradicated as a nation.\u00a0 <\/span>The same\nthing happened with Syria.\u00a0 <\/span>The same\nthing happened with Moab and Ammon.\u00a0\n<\/span>Egypt had been a longtime enemy.\u00a0\n<\/span>Pharaoh sued for a peace treaty.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

But\nthere was more!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nland began to produce as it had never produced.\u00a0\n<\/span>It\u2019s a funny thing!\u00a0 <\/span>When the\nsound of the Lord goes forth, it even affects the land.\u00a0 <\/span>It affects plants and animals.\u00a0 <\/span>Everything is affected.\u00a0 <\/span>Agriculturally, the people began to\nprosper.\u00a0 <\/span>But more than that, they began\nto prosper financially.\u00a0 <\/span>Israel became a\npowerhouse nation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

David\nbegan to take lands and territories promised to Abraham, but never taken under\nJoshua\u2019s leadership, or any other leader that had led Israel in the centuries\nbefore.\u00a0 <\/span>Israel\u2019s borders grew.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And\nGod prospered David in\u00a0 <\/span>ways that, to\nthis day, defy imagination.\u00a0 <\/span>Consider the\nfact that David wanted to do more than the simple Tabernacle.\u00a0 <\/span>He wanted to build an elegant Temple to the\nLord.\u00a0 <\/span>The Lord spoke through Nathan, the\nprophet, and told him that because he had been a man of blood and warfare, that\nGod was going to give that mandate to David\u2019s son.\u00a0 <\/span>So David began to accumulate wealth in the\nform of gold, silver, precious stones, rare woods, and everything it would take\nto build that temple.\u00a0 <\/span>The value of gold\nalone, when measured by today\u2019s standards, exceeded $11 Billion.\u00a0 <\/span>The value of the silver was so immense they\ncouldn\u2019t even calculate it, and they quit trying to calculate the rest in\nprecious stones and rare woods.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

By\nany standard, David was among the richest men in the world \u2014 and he didn\u2019t save\nany of it for himself.\u00a0 <\/span>From his point of\nview, it all belonged to God.\u00a0 <\/span>It was all\nset aside for the building of that temple.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Because\nof his heart for the Lord, and the fact that he so desperately wanted Israel to\nbe in tune with the Lord, God made a promise that his seed would forever sit on\nthe throne, and that the long-promised Messiah would come from his generations.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\u2019ve\ntalked about the changes and prosperity that came to Israel as a result of the\n24-hour praise and worship during David\u2019s reign, but consider what happened at\nthe end of his reign and the subsequent reign of his son, Solomon.\u00a0 <\/span>As he prepared to turn over the throne to\nSolomon, his last great act as King of Israel was to enlarge the ministry of\npraise and worship.\u00a0 <\/span>He assigned the\nfamilies of Asaph, Heman and Jeduthun to prophetic ministry in worship \u2014 both\nvocally and instrumentally.\u00a0 <\/span>Let me pause\nfor a minute to quote something that David wrote with understanding.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Psalm 144:1-2<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>Blessed be<\/i>\nthe LORD my strength, which teacheth<\/span> my hands to war,\nand<\/i> my fingers to fight:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer;\nmy shield, and he<\/i> in whom I trust; who subdueth<\/span>\nmy people under me.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

David\nknew when he played on his harp \u2014 or whatever instrument he chose \u2014 that his\nfingers became the fingers of Holy Spirit to prophesy, to conduct spiritual\nbattle, to provide safety, deliverance and bring complete victory against his\nenemies.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That\u2019s\nis an understanding that has been largely lost in the body of Christ.\u00a0 <\/span>I\u2019ve met a few of today\u2019s worship leaders who\nreally understand what they have at their fingertips when they play.\u00a0 <\/span>Steve Swanson comes to mind, as does Terry\nMcAlmon.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Getting\nback to the topic at hand, David enlarged the ministry of praisers and\nworshipers to 288.\u00a0 <\/span>That\u2019s an interesting\nnumber.\u00a0 <\/span>God never choses numbers without\nspecific precision and purpose.\u00a0 <\/span>David\nwas able to see prophetically into the future when there would be two groups of\n144,000 who would form the Bride of Christ \u2014 that chosen, called out, and\novercoming people.\u00a0 <\/span>Paul saw it too when\nhe prophesied the following:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Romans 11:25-29<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0\n<\/span><\/span>For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this\nmystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is\nhappened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>And so all Israel\nshall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer,\nand shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/sup><\/p>\n\n

For this is<\/i> my covenant unto them, when I shall take away\ntheir sins. As concerning the gospel, they are<\/i> enemies for your sakes:\nbut as touching the election, they are<\/i> beloved for the fathers\u2019 sakes. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>For the gifts and\ncalling of God are<\/i> without repentance.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Paul\nrealized that Israel was set aside in God\u2019s economy for a time so that the rest\nof the nations of the world would have the opportunity to come to know Him and\nenter into that same Covenant relationship.\u00a0\n<\/span>John demonstrates this when he describes two separate groups of 144,000\novercomers \u2014 one chosen from the twelve tribes of Israel (see Revelation 7:4),\nand the other \u201credeemed from the earth.\u201d (see Revelation 14:3)<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I\u2019ve\nrun down a rabbit trail again.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\nget back to Solomon, now, taking the throne of Israel and continuing on with\nthis enlarged group of praisers and worshipers.\u00a0\n<\/span>Solomon followed the architectural plans that David had prepared for the\nTemple and spent seven years building it.\u00a0\n<\/span>When it came time to dedicate the Temple, this is what we read:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

II Chronicles 5:12-14<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Also the Levites which\nwere<\/i> the singers, all of them of Asaph, of Heman, of Jeduthun, with their\nsons and their brethren, being<\/i> arrayed in white linen, having cymbals\nand psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them an\nhundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets:)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/sup><\/p>\n\n

It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were<\/i>\nas one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and\nwhen they lifted up their<\/i> voice with the trumpets and cymbals and\ninstruments of music, and praised the LORD, saying<\/i>, For he is<\/i>\ngood; for his mercy endureth<\/i> for ever: that then<\/i> the house was\nfilled with a cloud, even<\/i> the house of the LORD; <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>So that the priests\ncould not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD\nhad filled the house of God.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That\npresence continued to fill the temple so long as the 24-hour praise and worship\nwent forth unhampered and unhindered.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

After\nanother forty years of this kind of presence in Israel, the nation had become\nthe most powerful nation on earth.\u00a0 <\/span>They\nhad prospered during Solomon\u2019s reign in such a way that it surpassed all they\nhad experienced during David\u2019s years.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Then\npolitics took over.\u00a0 <\/span>Solomon died and the\nthrone went to his son, Rehoboam.\u00a0 <\/span>After\nroughly three years or so of Rehoboam\u2019s reign, self-seeking \u201cadvisors\u201d \u2014\npoliticians desiring to curry favor with the most powerful throne on earth \u2014\nlet Rehoboam know that he was wasting money on the praisers and\nworshipers.\u00a0 <\/span>After all, the throne was\nthe source of the income and all provision for these 288 praisers and\nworshipers.\u00a0 <\/span>Their pay came out of the\nroyal treasury.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Rehoboam\nfoolishly listed to their advice and abandoned the ministry of praise and\nworship.\u00a0 <\/span>Immediately, Jeroboam came up\nout of Egypt and divided the land so that ten of the tribes went with him.\u00a0 <\/span>All that remained under Rehoboam was Judah\nand Benjamin.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nnation was never again reunited completely.\u00a0\n<\/span>There was partial reunification under Hezekiah and Josiah temporarily\nwhile praise and worship resumed, but it didn\u2019t last as kings came to power who\nagain abandoned the praise and worship.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

From\nthe time that Rehoboam abandoned praise and worship, 80 years followed in which\nthe nation saw war, famine, pestilence and constant incursions by their\nenemies.\u00a0 <\/span>Jehoshaphat now becomes king\nafter a series of failed leaders during the intervening years.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Eighteen\nyears into his reign in which he has been trying to bring the nation back on\ncourse spiritually, they are attacked by a combined army of Moab and Ammon,\noutnumbering them perhaps 10:1.\u00a0\n<\/span>Jehoshaphat realizes that he is faced with an impossible predicament and\ncalls the nation to prayer and fasting for one day.\u00a0 <\/span>At the end of the fast, a young prophet\nstands up to prophesy concerning their course of action.\u00a0 <\/span>This prophet turns out to be one of the\ndescendants of Asaph \u2014 and it is something we see in the coming years, again\nand again, and again, where the descendants of Asaph, Heman and Jeduthun are\nconstantly on the ready to resume their ministry of praise and worship.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This\nis where we see the first glimmering of understanding of what David had set in\nmotion with his Tabernacle.\u00a0 <\/span>And this is\nwhere we will pick things up next week.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n
