David\u2019s Tabernacle Restored, Part 12<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

We are talking about the core of the opposition that has faced\nthose who are committed to real praise and worship, and where that opposition\nand persecution began.\u00a0 <\/span>When you\nunderstand Satan\u2019s original place in Heaven as Lucifer, the Archangel who\nsurrounded the Throne with praise and worship, and how he was cast out of\nHeaven after his arrogance and rebellion and effort to overthrow the Throne of\nGod, then you begin to understand why he so hates those who have replaced him\nwith their love, their praise and their worship.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Let\u2019s\nget back to the beginning place of all opposition to worship.\u00a0 <\/span>We\u2019ve already explored some of this before,\nbut I\u2019d like to give you the full picture.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Isaiah 14:4-23<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>...Thou shalt\ntake up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the\noppressor ceased! the golden city ceased! <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>The LORD hath broken\nthe staff of the wicked, and<\/i> the sceptre of the rulers. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>He who smote the\npeople in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is\npersecuted, and<\/i> none hindereth.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/sup><\/p>\n\n

The whole earth is at rest, and<\/i> is quiet: they break\nforth into singing. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>Yea,\nthe fir trees rejoice at thee, and<\/i> the cedars of Lebanon, saying<\/i>,\nSince thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>Hell from beneath is\nmoved for thee to meet thee<\/i> at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for\nthee, even<\/i> all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their\nthrones all the kings of the nations.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become\nweak as we? art thou become like unto us? <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>Thy pomp is brought\ndown to the grave, and<\/i> the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under\nthee, and the worms cover thee.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/sup><\/p>\n\n

How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how<\/i>\nart thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>For thou hast said in\nthine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars\nof God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the\nnorth: <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>I\nwill ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.\n<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>They\nthat see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and<\/i> consider thee, saying,\nIs<\/i> this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms; <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>That<\/span><\/i>\nmade the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that<\/i>\nopened not the house of his prisoners?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

All the kings of the nations, even<\/i> all of them, lie in\nglory, every one<\/span> in his own house. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>But thou art cast out\nof thy grave like an abominable branch, and as<\/i> the raiment of those that\nare slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit;\nas a carcase trodden under feet. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>Thou shalt not be\njoined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and<\/i>\nslain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their\nfathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the\nworld with cities. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>For\nI will rise up against them, saith the LORD of hosts, and cut off from Babylon\nthe name, and remnant, and son, and nephew, saith the LORD. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>I will also make it a\npossession for the bittern, and pools of water: and I will sweep it with the\nbesom of destruction, saith the LORD of hosts.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Isaiah\u2019s\nprophecy is only half of the picture (and we\u2019ll get to the rest of it\nmomentarily) but he lays things out in methodical fashion.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Isaiah\nis making it clear that the \u201cking of Babylon\u201d was none other than the former\nLucifer.\u00a0 <\/span>Notice that the hallmark of\nLucifer as the fallen angel is \u201cHe who smote the people in wrath with a\ncontinual stroke.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>We\u2019ve already talked\nabout the fact that Lucifer lost his place as worship leader in Heaven (and\nIsaiah spells out clearly just why he lost that place) and he was replaced in\nGod\u2019s economy by this family of people created in the image and likeness of\nGod.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nHebrew word that Isaiah uses to describe this \u201ccontinual stroke\u201d that Lucifer \/\nSatan uses is <\/span>Makkah<\/span><\/i><\/b>.\u00a0 <\/span>This is a word\nwhich has specific intent attached \u2014 the intent of striking so viciously that\none is killed, murdered.\u00a0 <\/span>Satan wants no\none around who will worship the Lord, no one who will take that hallowed place\nhe once knew.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And\nthat is still his tactic today.\u00a0 <\/span>More\noften than not, he uses people whose words are designed to kill their\neffectiveness at worship or praise.\u00a0 <\/span>He\ndemeans and belittles everything that they do.\u00a0\n<\/span>And more often than not, Holy Spirit will put someone in the place of\nworship leadership who can scarcely carry a tune in a bucket.\u00a0 <\/span>Why?\u00a0\n<\/span>Because the Lord uses the foolish to confound the wise.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Sonny\n(Gunvaldson) was telling us about a time when he and Joanne were at a meeting \u2014\nperhaps a conference \u2014 in Kelowna, BC.\u00a0\n<\/span>This couple came up to lead worship.\u00a0\n<\/span>Sonny and Joanne knew that these folks had a reputation for not being\nable to sing very well, and they wondered why this couple was called.\u00a0 <\/span>Sure enough, when they started to sing, they\nwere off-key and certainly not harmonious.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

What\nhappened next was not what anyone expected.\u00a0\n<\/span>As they got lost in worship, the glory of the Lord flooded that meeting.\u00a0 <\/span>God didn\u2019t care that they couldn\u2019t carry much\nof a tune.\u00a0 <\/span>He cared that they knew how\nto worship, and brother, did they ever know how to <\/span>worship!\u00a0 <\/span>The presence of <\/span>the Lord filled the\nplace and everyone got lost in that presence.\u00a0\n<\/span>Nobody focused on their singing or things being out of tune\nmusically.\u00a0 <\/span>They may have been out of\ntune as far as the music was concerned but they were certainly in tune as far\nas Holy Spirit was concerned.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\nskip forward to one more part of Isaiah\u2019s prophecy to where he says, <\/span>The\nwhole earth is at rest, and<\/i> is quiet: they break forth into singing<\/span>.\u00a0 <\/span>That\u2019s because the persecutor, the accuser of\nthe brethren, the murderer himself has been stopped.\u00a0 <\/span>The word for \u201csinging\u201d is <\/span>rinnah<\/span><\/i><\/b>, a word for\nrejoicing, joy, shouting, triumphal praise.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

When\nGod\u2019s people truly worship, when they praise, they bring down the efforts of\nthe Enemy.\u00a0 <\/span>Nothing he says or does\nsucceeds.\u00a0 <\/span>Those people under his\ninfluence fail at their efforts.\u00a0 <\/span>The\nglory of the Lord is put on display and the world gets to see the winning hand\nof praise and worship.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

There\nis so much I could go into in Isaiah\u2019s prophecy, but I want to go on to\nEzekiel\u2019s prophecy, which completes the word that Isaiah delivered.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Ezekiel 28:11-19<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>Moreover the\nword of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, take up a lamentation upon\nthe king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Thou sealest<\/span> up the sum, full of\nwisdom, and perfect in beauty.\u00a0 <\/span>Thou hast\nbeen in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was<\/i> thy covering,\nthe sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the\nsapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy\ntabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast\ncreated.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Thou art<\/i> the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have\nset thee so<\/i>: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked\nup and down in the midst of the stones of fire.\u00a0\n<\/span>Thou wast<\/i> perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast\ncreated, till iniquity was found in thee.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst\nof thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as\nprofane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub,\nfrom the midst of the stones of fire.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast\ncorrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the\nground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine\niniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffic; therefore will I bring forth a fire\nfrom the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes\nupon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at\nthee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt<\/i> thou be<\/i> any more.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/span>All of the pieces of these combined prophecies\ncome together to give us a picture of Satan\u2019s arrogance, the unbelievable\nhard-headedness he has in believing that he could unseat the Lord from His\nThrone, and the fact that everything he touched (and touches today) becomes\ndiscordant and contaminated.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I\ncould really wax political at this moment, but won\u2019t for the sake of these\nnotes other than to say that we see the influence of Satan in all of the\nopposition against the president and the desire of goats on the left to smear\nthe sheep on the right.\u00a0 <\/span>There!\u00a0 <\/span>How\u2019s that for a commentary!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let\nme wrap up todays discussion with a look at the families of Asaph, Heman and\nJeduthun and the opposition they ran into.\u00a0\n<\/span>Remember how they were chosen by David, appointed and anointed by the\nLord to minister to Him on a 24-hour daily basis?\u00a0 <\/span>Remember how David, at the end of his reign\nas King of Israel, strengthened their hand, increased their numbers and\nappointed them to prophesy over Israel with their instruments, as well as the\nPsalms of praise and worship that they sang?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Good!\u00a0 <\/span>Then you will also remember how, three years\ninto the reign of Rehoboam, Solomon\u2019s son, the Enemy comes in the person of\nRehoboam\u2019s advisors \u2014 self-seeking politicians.\u00a0\n<\/span>They wanted Rehoboam to save money from the Royal Treasury that he was\npaying to support the 288 praisers and worshipers.\u00a0 <\/span>Sounded logical to Rehoboam.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

He\nfired all 288 of them and sent them packing to their homes and fields.\u00a0 <\/span>Now they would have to support themselves at\nvarious trades at which none of them had needed to work for better than 40\nyears, and in some cases over 80 years.\u00a0\n<\/span>Satan was purposed to rob Israel of the presence of the Lord, and the\nauthority that had ruled in Israel for eight decades.\u00a0 <\/span>How better than to attack the families of\nthose who brought that authority and presence of the Lord to the nation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Eighty\nyears would pass before that praise and worship resumed, but it came during the\nreign of Jehoshaphat.\u00a0 <\/span>It would happen\neighteen years into his reign that the Moabites and Ammonites gathered together\nwith a combined army that outnumbered the armies of Judah by a factor of\nperhaps 10:1.\u00a0 <\/span>Jahaziel, a descendant of\nAsaph, stands and prophesies to Jehoshaphat and Judah following a day of\nfasting.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

II Chronicles 20:15-17<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>Hearken\nye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus\nsaith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great\nmultitude; for the battle is<\/i> not yours, but God\u2019s.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

To morrow<\/span><\/span>\ngo ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall\nfind them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Ye shall not need<\/i> to fight in this battle<\/i>: set\nyourselves, stand ye still<\/i>, and see the salvation of the LORD with you,\nO Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow<\/span>\ngo out against them: for the LORD will be<\/i> with you.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/span>Ever notice how specific the Lord is in His\nprophecies?\u00a0 <\/span>Brother!\u00a0 <\/span>Not only is He telling them that they need\nnot be afraid, He tells them exactly where the Enemy will be.\u00a0 <\/span>He instructs them that they will not need to\nfight at all, but rather to stand still when they get there because the Lord is\ngoing to put a show for them!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Jehoshaphat\nremembers all of a sudden what his great, great, great grandfather had done in\nappointing the families of Asaph, Heman and Jeduthun to the ministry of praise\nand worship.\u00a0 <\/span>The reminder had come in\nthe form of Jahaziel, a great descendant of Asaph.\u00a0 <\/span>So he stands up after Jahaziel\u2019s prophecy and\nissues the following command.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

II Chronicles 20:20-21<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>And\nthey rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa:\nand as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye\ninhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be\nestablished; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers\nunto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before\nthe army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth<\/i><\/span>\nfor ever.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/span>The rest of the story you know.\u00a0 <\/span>With the families of Asaph, Heman and\nJeduthun going out before the army and praising God and worshiping Him, all of\na sudden the enemies turned on each other and killed each other off.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

During\nthe next seven years of Jehoshaphat\u2019s reign, the three praising and worshiping\nfamilies were restored to their places and Jehoshaphat prospered like you can\u2019t\neven imagine.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

When\nJehoshaphat dies, however, and his son takes the throne, he repeats the\nscandals of the previous kings and abandons the ministry of praise and\nworship.\u00a0 <\/span>The families once again have to\nfend for themselves as their place in the temple is removed.\u00a0 <\/span>This cycle repeats itself over and over again\nfor the next two centuries as kings come to power who reinstate them, and then\nkings who succeed those kings kick them out again.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Finally,\nJudah is carried away into captivity.\u00a0\n<\/span>Israel (the remaining tribes) had been taken into captivity many years\nprior.\u00a0 <\/span>Not until Esther is raised up to\nbecome Queen with Xerxes I (Ahasuerus, in Scripture) do we see the re-emergence\nof the families of Asaph, Heman and Jeduthun.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Esther\nand Xerxes have a son who is called Artaxerxes.\u00a0\n<\/span>He comes to the throne at the age of 14 years after his father is\nassassinated.\u00a0 <\/span>Esther becomes Queen\nMother and guides Artaxerxes behind the scenes.\u00a0\n<\/span>Nehemiah is appointed to become his cup-bearer and is ultimately\nappointed governor over the (now)-province of Judah.\u00a0 <\/span>Not long thereafter, Ezra is given permission\nto return and rebuild the temple in Jerusalem.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Who\ndo you think accompanies Ezra?\u00a0 <\/span>Yup.\u00a0 <\/span>You\u2019ve got it!\u00a0 <\/span>The three families of praisers and\nworshipers.\u00a0 <\/span>We are told that <\/span>\u201cthey\nkept the dedication of this house of God with joy.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>(see Ezra 6:16)\u00a0 <\/span>It matters not how much persecution the\npraisers and worshipers suffered.\u00a0 <\/span>They\nwere always ready to return to their real calling.\u00a0 <\/span>So must it be for us today!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n
