The Strait Gate, Part 1<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Before we launch into another\nlengthy series, let me take the next two or three weeks to deal with an issue\nthat faces the body of Christ right now.\u00a0\n<\/span>My approach may be a bit different on this topic, and if I offend\ncertain Christians with some of my comments, please bear with me and hear me\nout. <\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Because\nof the present call going forth by the Holy Spirit in the earth to the Bride,\nand the unfolding of the Day of the Lord, it is imperative that we all see and\nrecognize the call into the Holy of Holies in its true perspective.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

(I\nam indebted, by the way, to Rick Joyner's sharing a portion of this picture in\nthe book, THERE WERE TWO TREES IN THE GARDEN<\/b>.\u00a0 <\/span>It is not my intention to plagiarize his\nwriting, nor take away from that which he shared, but to share that which the\nHoly Spirit has placed in me.)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\nhave all been experiencing the processing of the Lord in being delivered from\nthe \"Tree of Knowledge.\"\u00a0 <\/span>In\nthe past, Della has shared the revelation the Lord gave to her regarding\n\"the Original Sin\", and how it has impacted us. Most of you may have\nheard about or read the prophetic word delivered by Charlotte Baker several\nyears ago in \"The Eye of the Needle<\/i><\/b>,\" and know that in\norder for us to come into the place of true worship, it is absolutely\u00a0 <\/span>necessary to lay everything down in order to\ncome through <\/span>\"the gate called Strait\".<\/span> (I will share this Word with you at the end\nof this series.)<\/b>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>The following,\ntherefore, is shared from the perspective of \"the other side\" of that\ngate.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Having\ngrown up in traditional Pentecostalism, having done the \"Bible\nCollege\" routine in order to \"prepare for the ministry,\" and\nhaving had the Lord take me through the \"furnace of affliction\" (thlipsis<\/i>,\nif you will) to deliver me from all that, I have been able to readily empathize\nwith those of my brethren who, for a wide variety of reasons, have struggled to\nlay down \u201cthe cloth.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>It isn't just\ndifficult to lay aside the priestly robes -- it's impossible<\/b> -- unless,\nand until, one has a genuine\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>revelation\nfrom the Holy Spirit.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This\nstruggle comes from the fact that we have experienced a genuine calling by the\nHoly Spirit (and for many of us, this calling is from birth -- or at least our\nearly youth) to the place of ministry we have enjoyed.\u00a0 <\/span>Because of the strength of that calling, and\nthe fact that it is literally bred into the very core of our\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>existence, the concept of laying it down\nflies in the face of all we know<\/i> and have experienced.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

For\nthose who have come through the \"Charismatic\" era, and experienced\nthe remarkable miracles of healing, deliverance from evil spirits, creative\nmiracles, raising of the dead -- not to mention seeing hundreds, if not\nthousands, of people come to accept Jesus Christ through the preaching of the\nWord; and similar numbers of people instantly receive the baptism of the Holy\nSpirit when hands have been laid upon them -- all as a result of the ministry\nof the Holy Spirit flowing through them, the difficulty of \"laying it all\ndown\" is greatly compounded.\u00a0 <\/span>For\nthose who have not only ministered in these areas but also been recipients of healing,\ndeliverance, creative miracles -- and even being raised from the dead -- the\nstruggle is compounded by a quantum factor.\u00a0\n<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It\nceases to be something which one \"knows\" because they \"read it\nin Scripture\" and subsequently had it confirmed by the Holy Spirit.\u00a0 <\/span>It is not the knowledge which comes of\neducation -- it is a knowing<\/b> in the core of one's being.\u00a0 <\/span>It cannot be reasoned away or explained away\nwith logic or human deduction.\u00a0 <\/span>It is\nthere!<\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nproblem with all of this is that it still feeds us from The Tree of\nKnowledge.\u00a0 <\/span>The fact that we know <\/b>what\nwe have experienced, the fact that we know<\/b> the calling of the Holy\nSpirit, the fact that we know<\/b> the power and authority of God functioning\nwithin, all tends to confirm and validate our position.\u00a0 <\/span>What gets lost in the process is that this\nis not the end<\/b> of all that God is calling us to!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That\nwe have experienced all these things is marvelous!\u00a0 <\/span>That we know the voice of God is\nexciting!\u00a0 <\/span>That we have been a part of\nwhat God has been doing in the earth is\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/span>nothing less than His miraculous grace!\u00a0\n<\/span>It is not His objective for us, however.\u00a0\n<\/span>It is not even a stopping place!\u00a0\n<\/span>It is only a part of His call.\u00a0\n<\/span>All of our training over the years \"for\" ministry teaches us\nthat the ministry<\/i> (and I highlight this word deliberately) -- whether it\nbe to function as an apostle, or prophet, or evangelist, or pastor, or teacher,\nor perhaps missionary -- is a high calling, and an objective in itself.\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I\naccent for<\/i> because I have learned that one cannot be \u201ctrained for the\nministry.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>No amount of education in\nBible College or Seminary will ever prepare one to be anything other than a\ntrained parrot for the religious doctrines or \u201ctruths\u201d of the denomination or\norganization of which the Bible College or Seminary is a part.\u00a0 <\/span>In so saying, I do not intend offense towards\nthose who have been so trained and acknowledge that there are many who have\nbeen so \"trained\" who have also experienced the personal preparation\nof the Lord Jesus Christ through much thlipsis or what we have come to define\nas \u201cprocessing.\u201d <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nconcept, however, that our training and\/or that the position of apostle<\/i>\nor prophet, <\/i>or pastor, <\/i>or whatever, is a \u201chigh calling,\u201d is\ndeliberately and methodically bred into our existence by the Enemy, the\nBeast!\u00a0 <\/span>It is a lie contrived by taking\nGod\u2019s Word out of context.\u00a0 <\/span>(This is a\nclassic tactic of Satan.)\u00a0 <\/span>The purpose of\nthis lie is to bring us to a stopping place in the Holy Place -- to keep us\nfrom entering into the Holy of Holies, where<\/b> all true intimate\nrelationship exists<\/b>, where all real authority and all power is vested<\/b>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nCall of the Bridegroom is what we have been responding to in our spirits.\u00a0 <\/span>It is what led us into the place of\nministry.\u00a0 <\/span>A good illustration occurs in\nRick Joyner's sharing in THERE WERE\nTWO TREES IN THE GARDEN<\/i><\/b>, in which he demonstrates three\u00a0 <\/span>areas of ministry: (1) <\/span><\/b>the first being to the multitudes, i.e., the Outer\nCourt (to\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>continue the metaphor of\nthe Tabernacle); (2) <\/span><\/b>the next to the\nEkklesia, or twelve, in which they experienced the anointing -- \"The Holy\nPlace; and (3) <\/span><\/b>thirdly, to the Lord\n-- the place where His Glory is manifested: that is, The Holy of Holies.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Outer\nCourt ministry is evangelical in nature.\u00a0\n<\/span>There is nothing wrong with Outer Court ministry.\u00a0 <\/span>It serves a vital and necessary function in\nGod's economy.\u00a0 <\/span>It just was never<\/b>\nintended to be a stopping place for either those who receive ministry in the\nOuter Court, or those who minister.\u00a0 <\/span>It\ncould also be described and illustrated (musically) as the place of gospel\nsongs and hymns.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Ministry\nwithin The Holy Place encompasses those who have pressed forward beyond the\nOuter Court in response to the Bridegroom's call.\u00a0 <\/span>It takes in the so-called Five-Fold\nministries.\u00a0 <\/span>It is the place of Ekklesia,\nthe preparation of the Bride.\u00a0 <\/span>It\nincludes the realm of praise, but not worship.\u00a0\n<\/span>The Holy Place, likewise, was never intended to be a stopping place or\nan objective goal.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nHoly of Holies is the \u201cSecret Place\u201d; it is the \u201cBridal Chamber\u201d; it is the\nplace in which we express worship -- love and adoration -- for the\nBridegroom.\u00a0 <\/span>It is the place where we\nminister to Him!<\/b>\u00a0 <\/span>It is the place\nwhere He reveals His Glory to His Bride.\u00a0\n<\/span>This is the goal!<\/b>\u00a0 <\/span>Any\nother goal we pursue cheats or subverts the heart's desire of Jesus Christ,\nwhose purpose is to bring us to oneness, to unity with Himself.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nobjective of the Lord Jesus Christ, from the time He first began to call and\ndraw us to Him, was intimate relationship<\/i>, a relationship in which we\nexpress and share our love for one another, a relationship in which there are\nno barriers, a relationship where we are absolutely and completely naked before\nHim.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

There\nis another illustration relevant to the call of the Bridegroom.\u00a0 <\/span>In Ezekiel 44:17-19, we have a picture of a\nselect group of priests, the sons of Zadok, who were\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>commanded to put on the linen garments when\nthey came into the Holy of Holies to minister unto the Lord.\u00a0 <\/span>They were commanded to put off their woolen\ngarments -- the garments with which they ministered to the people.\u00a0 <\/span>There was to be no \"sweat\" in their\nministry to the Lord, no labor, no human endeavor or effort; hence, it was a\npicture of ministry which comes out of the spirit, and not from the flesh.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\ncrux of this picture is that of laying down our ministry.\u00a0 <\/span>There are no apostles, prophets, evangelists,\npastors or teachers in the Holy of Holies.\u00a0\n<\/span>There are no books of learning, no Master's degrees, no Doctor's\ndegrees, no academic achievements.\u00a0 <\/span>There\nare no titles of recognition, no denominations, no organizations and no\nchurches or home fellowships in the Holy of Holies.\u00a0 <\/span>There is not even Ekklesia in the Holy of\nHolies.\u00a0 <\/span>Even though we may jointly enter\nin the midst of worship, we cannot bring others with us, nor can we assume any\nresponsibility for those around us in our great desire to bring them in.\u00a0 <\/span>In this realm, responsiveness in totally\nindividual<\/i>!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

A\nquestion which most often arises among many of my brethren is this, \u201cWhy can't\nI worship, and then continue on with my ministry?\u00a0 <\/span>Why is it necessary to lay it down?\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nissue is not \u201cthe ministry.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>The issue\nis \u201cThe Ministry<\/b>!\u201d \u00a0<\/span>Sound\nconfusing?\u00a0 <\/span>Just wait!\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>It's going to get worse!\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nissue is not ministry for ministry's sake<\/i>.\u00a0 <\/span>The issue is our mental or psychological\npre-conditioning to coming into His presence.\u00a0\n<\/span>If we worship with the intent, or plan in the back of our minds, that\nonce we are finished, we will continue on with what we were doing before we\nbegan worshipping, then The Ministry <\/b>has become the goal and objective,\nand not<\/b> the Lord.\u00a0 <\/span>Sharing with\nothers becomes the objective.\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cHolding\nfast our calling\u201d becomes the objective.\u00a0\n<\/span>Being concerned about \u201cwhat will happen to all those people\u201d becomes\nmore important than ministry to the Lord!\u00a0\n<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Do\nyou see the difference?\u00a0 <\/span>We were not\ncalled to be<\/i> apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, teachers -- or\nanything!\u00a0 <\/span>We were called........to\nHim!<\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In\nthe prophetic vision shared by\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/span>Charlotte Baker (attached as an addendum to this letter), entitled The\nEye of The Needle<\/b>, she saw that those who came through the \u201cStrait Gate,\u201d\nthe gate of worship, after laying down their callings, their gifts, their\nministries, etc., in fact had lost nothing!\u00a0\n<\/span>What actually happened was that they ministered from a new realm, from a\ncompletely new perspective.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In\ntruth, ministry which goes forth from the realm of worship goes forth with a\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>completely different working than\nanything we have known before.\u00a0 <\/span>There is\nno sweat!\u00a0 <\/span>There is no labor, no human\neffort.\u00a0 <\/span>We no longer do things \"the\nway we have always done them.\"\u00a0 <\/span>We\nno longer pray for the sick because they are \"there.\"\u00a0 <\/span>We no longer lay hands on people to impart\ngifts, or whatever.\u00a0 <\/span>We no longer worry\nabout prayer or intercession.\u00a0 <\/span>We no\nlonger concern ourselves with spiritual warfare.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

See,\nI told you it was going to get worse!\u00a0 <\/span>(grin)\nWe no longer have to worry about \u201cpreaching the Word!\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In\nthe realm of worship, there is no more room for titles.\u00a0 <\/span>One no longer has to be Pastor Jones, or\nEvangelist Smith, or Apostle James.\u00a0 <\/span>Are\nyou understanding what I am saying? There is no more need for \u201cchurch.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>There is no more need for home\nfellowship.\u00a0 <\/span>There is no more need for\nelders and deacons.\u00a0 <\/span>There is no more\nneed for \"government,\" as it is expressed through our brethren and\nsisters in the Lord.\u00a0 <\/span>The Lord Jesus\nChrist, our Apostle, our High Priest, our Bridegroom, is everything!\u00a0 <\/span>Government still exists, but in radically\ndifferent form.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nsecret is revealed, again, in the picture of the sons of Zadok where the Lord\nsays to them (once they enter in to minister unto Him), <\/span>\"And\nit shall be unto them for an inheritance: I AM <\/b>their inheritance: and ye\nshall give them no possession in Israel: I AM <\/b>their possession.\"<\/span> <\/span>(Ezekiel 44:28)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nnext question that most often arises is, \u201cAre you saying that all ministry,\notherwise, ceases to be for those who enter?\u201d\u00a0\n<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nanswer is simple.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Those\nwho enter this realm to live (and enter without pre-conditions before the Lord)\nsoon realize that ministry continues to go forth, but in the spirit -- in a\ndimension for which there are no appropriate descriptions. The secret is that\nwe enter this realm to live<\/i>, NOT to leave!\u00a0 <\/span>The Lord Jesus Christ becomes the totality\nof our existence<\/b>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\nmay, indeed, continue to share in the ministry of the Word.\u00a0 <\/span>We may, indeed, continue to lay hands on\npeople from time to time.\u00a0 <\/span>We may,\nindeed, continue to minister deliverance to the captives.\u00a0 <\/span>In fact, it can be guaranteed that these\nthings will happen.\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s just that they\nwill no longer be an objective -- a goal which needs to be accomplished.\u00a0 <\/span>We no longer continue to do these things\nbecause \u201cthey need to be done.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>They are\ndone only at the specific direction and timing of the Lord.\u00a0 <\/span>They are done because we still live in a\nnatural realm, and because it serves the purposes of His good pleasure.\u00a0 <\/span>It is likewise His good pleasure to bring thlipsis<\/i>\ninto our lives, and to bring us through trials and afflictions.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let\nme digress for just a moment. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Our\ntendency to eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil in this realm\nof healing, deliverance, prayer -- ministry in general -- is overwhelming.\u00a0 <\/span>We know<\/i> that\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus did these things.\u00a0 <\/span>What we often fail to take into account is\nthat He did not heal everyone who was sick and in need.\u00a0 <\/span>He did not minister to all of the sick at the\npool of\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Bethesda -- he only\nhealed one man.\u00a0 <\/span>He did not cleanse all\nthe lepers.\u00a0 <\/span>He did not raise all the\ndead.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Were\nthe needs there?\u00a0 <\/span>Absolutely!\u00a0 <\/span>Why, then, did He not heal, cleanse, raise,\nminister to all<\/b> who were in need?\u00a0\n<\/span>The answer is simple.\u00a0 <\/span>Though we\nread of His works in many places, we are told in some instances that <\/span>\"He\ndid not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.\"<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>There is no doubt that all who were present\nat the pool of Bethesda wanted healing.\u00a0\n<\/span>Yet only one man met Jesus' conditions.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Would\nit have been \"good\" to heal all the sick?\u00a0 <\/span>Of course -- at least from our\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>perspective.\u00a0 <\/span>Would it have been good to minister to the\nneeds of all the poor?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/span>Certainly.\u00a0 <\/span>At least we would think<\/i>\nso.\u00a0 <\/span>Yet Jesus did not!\u00a0 <\/span>Of those who were sick and in need, some\nrecovered, but many died of their sicknesses and diseases without ever\nreceiving ministry from Jesus!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It\nis a lesson we have not learned.\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus<\/b>\ndoes make requirements<\/b> for healing, for health, for life, for\nreceiving from Him.<\/b>\u00a0 <\/span>The first and\nmost basic is, faith.\u00a0 <\/span>The second and\nequally basic is, relationship with Him.\u00a0\n<\/span>Not religion.\u00a0 <\/span>Not attending\nchurch.\u00a0 <\/span>Not agreeing with certain\ndoctrines.\u00a0 <\/span>Not meeting a set of\nstandards required by a committee of Christians.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>It is relationship!\u00a0 <\/span>Relationship!\u00a0\n<\/span>Relationship!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And\nthat, folks, is where we have to stop for today.\u00a0 <\/span>We will pick this up again next week.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n
