Deliver Us From Evil, Part 9<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

We will continue the discussion today that we began last week in\ndealing with the words that appear in Scripture that define witchcraft, or its\ntentacles.\u00a0 <\/span>If I didn\u2019t mention it last\nweek, let me say that there are seven words used through Scripture that translate\nout to \u201cwitchcraft,\u201d \u201csorcery,\u201d \u201cnecromancy,\u201d and all the varieties thereof.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

People today \u2013 and especially believing Christians \u2013 have no\nidea of the things they accept as \u201cnormal\u201d in today\u2019s world that are some\nvariant of witchcraft or sorcery.\u00a0 <\/span>By the\nway, we generally use the word, \u201cwitchcraft,\u201d when we are referring to women or\nthe feminine usage of manipulation.\u00a0\n<\/span>\u201cSorcery\u201d refers to the masculine or male activity in this realm.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

We will be digging into a specific aspect of witchcraft in this\nseries which addresses the Spirit of Jezebel.\u00a0\n<\/span>The various forms of sexual perversion we see in society today are a\ndirect product of this specific spirit.\u00a0\n<\/span>The entire LGBTQ grouping of people are victims of this spirit \u2013 and\nthey are totally oblivious to it.\u00a0 <\/span>We\nwill get to that discussion in the weeks to come.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Before\nwe get too far along, I know that the word, <\/span>pharmakeia<\/span><\/i><\/b>,\nconjures up visions of pharmacists \u2013 and it is the word that \u201cpharmacist\u201d comes\nfrom.\u00a0 <\/span>Let me say that I\u2019m not suggesting\nthat pharmacists are sorcerers who practice witchcraft \u2013 not all of them,\nanyway.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

(Hehehehehehe\u2026\u2026\u2026.)\u00a0 <\/span>I have very close friends \u2013 committed\nChristians \u2013 who have been in the pharmaceutical world for many years, and they\nare anything but sorcerers.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That\nsaid, there is much of the medical industry today that people overly rely on\nthat falls into the category of sorcery.\u00a0\n<\/span>We refer to it as \u201cBig Pharma.\u201d\u00a0\n<\/span>This is a personal opinion so take it for what it\u2019s worth.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let\nme give you an illustration of an application.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Our\nyoungest son, Joshua, got himself into some fights when he was in junior high\nand wound up in juvenile hall for a time.\u00a0\n<\/span>A psychiatrist was assigned to him, diagnosed him as \u201chyper-active\u201d and\nprescribed Prozac for him.\u00a0 <\/span>We knew\nnothing about the psychiatrist, or his diagnosis, or his prescription until we\ngot a phone call from Josh.\u00a0 <\/span>He was\ntalking really slow and sounded horribly depressed \u2013 not the norm for Josh at\nall.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\nasked him what was wrong and he said, \u201cNothing.\u00a0\n<\/span>The doctor gave me some medication, and it is making me feel really\nfunny.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>Della immediately called the\ninstitution, and they referred her to a psychiatrist.\u00a0 <\/span>When he told Della what he had prescribed,\nshe demanded that he cancel the prescription on pain of a lawsuit.\u00a0 <\/span>He hemmed and hawed around, and finally\nadmitted he was \u201cexperimenting\u201d with Joshua to see if he could cure his\n\u201chyper-activity.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>He agreed to cancel\nthe prescription, but told Della that we would be held responsible if Joshua\n\u201ccommits any acts of violence\u201d in the institution.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It\nwas the use of fear to force our compliance with his \u201cexperimentation,\u201d and we\nmade it clear to him in no uncertain terms that Joshua was not a violent\nperson, and that his prescriptions were entirely unacceptable.\u00a0 <\/span>(I\u2019m putting it nicely, if you know what I\nmean.\u00a0 <\/span>Hehehehehehe\u2026\u2026\u2026..\u00a0 <\/span>We didn\u2019t use any \u201ccolorful metaphors\u201d in our\ndiscussion with him.)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\nwent through a similar scenario with Serena \u2013 our then-two-year-old\ngranddaughter \u2013 when she was in critical condition after being stricken with\nTransverse Myelitis.\u00a0 <\/span>She had different\ndoctors and different nurses prescribing and administering drugs they hoped would\nhelp her \u2013 and the nurses who were supposed to be watching Serena couldn\u2019t be\nbothered to follow the doctors\u2019 instructions carefully.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

So\none of them decided on her own to administer a sedative \u2013 on top of the\ncocktail of medications already being administered<\/i>!<\/b>\u00a0 <\/span>Serena would come out of her unconscious\nstate and moan, and the nurse didn\u2019t want to tend to her.\u00a0 <\/span>Her solution was to keep Serena in an\nunconscious state.\u00a0 <\/span>As soon as we found\nout what had happened, we filed a formal complaint and the nurse was fired.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Well,\nI\u2019m sort of off track here, but I wanted to give you some illustrations of how\ndrugs are used to manipulate emotions and feelings by some within the medical\ncommunity who have no sense of care and concern for those under their care and\nkeeping.\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s witchcraft \u2013 pure and\nsimple.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

There\u2019s\nanother illustration of <\/span>pharmakeia <\/span><\/i><\/b>as witchcraft and\nsorcery that just about everyone can relate to: heroin, coke, PCP, marijuana,\nmethamphetamines, etc., etc.: the drugs that have invaded our society with a\ncurse beyond all comprehension.\u00a0 <\/span>Men and\nwomen who take these drugs have their minds and thought processes so altered\nthey open themselves up to demonic activity, and frequently commit criminal\nacts of heinous nature.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\ndrug culture today has invaded the body of Christ in several ways, and there\nare \u2013 unfortunately \u2013 many Christian young people who get deceived into\n\u201ctrying\u201d marijuana or some other supposedly harmless drug, not realizing they\nare opening themselves up to demonic activity.\u00a0\n<\/span>Because the drugs cause an altered state of consciousness, the\nindividuals are no longer in control of their minds, their wills, their\nthoughts or their moral and spiritual anchors.\u00a0\n<\/span>It presents what I\u2019ve come to call \u201copen doors\u201d for evil spirits to take\ncontrol \u2013 if even for a short time \u2013 of the individual\u2019s thoughts and actions.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Open\nthose doors often enough, and leave them open repeatedly through the use of\ndrugs (AND hard liquor), and you\u2019ve presented Satan with an invitation to take\ncontrol of your life in ways you would never normally and rationally\nallow.\u00a0 <\/span>The folks at AA treat alcoholism\nas \u201cdrug addiction,\u201d and indeed it has the same effect.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

During\nthe 1960\u2019s, I worked with David Wilkerson in Teen Challenge (the nationwide\nministry that treats drug addicts) in the San Francisco Bay area, and in Los\nAngeles; and we treated alcoholics in virtually the same way as we treated drug\naddicts.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

There\nare many would-be Christians who imbibe regularly in hard liquor, and think\nnothing of it.\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cAfter all, I don\u2019t get\ndrunk very often, and I don\u2019t drive when I drink.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>What a rotten excuse!\u00a0 <\/span>Since when do we take our inspiration, or our\nrelaxation from stress (stress is something no Christian has a right to) from\ndistilled \u201cspirits.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>Brother, talk about\nan apt description of hard liquor!\u00a0 <\/span>It is\n\u201cspirits\u201d all right!\u00a0 <\/span>Evil spirits.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Isaiah\n(28:7) talked about it like this: <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\u201cBut\nthey also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way;\nthe priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, <\/span>they\nare <\/span>swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong\ndrink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Obviously\nthe Lord was addressing the fact that the leaders of His people were leading\nfolks down the primrose path because their ability to hear Him had been\ncontaminated.\u00a0 <\/span>What they were hearing was\nsomething the Lord wasn\u2019t saying.\u00a0 <\/span>It was\ncoming from \u201cother spirits.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Now\nI know you are saying to yourself, \u201cwhat does any of this have to do with\nwitchcraft?\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

When\nyou boil down every aspect of witchcraft or sorcery, it all has one very simple\npurpose: to manipulate; to alter one\u2019s normal decision-making process; to take\ncontrol of a person\u2019s thoughts, and by consequence, his or her subsequent\nactions.\u00a0 <\/span>Witchcraft, therefore, is\nsimply Manipulation and Control<\/i> <\/b>of an individual, either through\ntaking over their thoughts through drugs, drinks, potions or music, or playing\nwith the circumstances surrounding them in such a way that they believe a lie\nand act accordingly.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I\nwish this were all there were to pharmakeia<\/span><\/i><\/b>,\nbut there\u2019s more.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nbody of Christ has fallen into the trap of pharmakeia<\/span><\/i><\/b>\nthrough the subtlety of its slow and systematic intrusion into our modern\nsociety in ways most folks don\u2019t think a thing about.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let\nme ask you a question.\u00a0 <\/span>What\u2019s the first\nthing you think about when you get a headache?\u00a0\n<\/span>Do you rebuke the headache in the name of Jesus and take authority over\nit, or do you head for the medicine cabinet for an aspirin tablet?\u00a0 <\/span>Don\u2019t answer that!\u00a0 <\/span>I don\u2019t need to hear the answer; I already\nknow what it is.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

What\u2019s\nthe first thing you do when you start to get the sniffles and you think you\u2019re\ncoming down with a cold?\u00a0 <\/span>Declare the\npromises of healing in the Scripture<\/span> <\/span>(\u201cI will put none of\nthese diseases upon you\u2026\u2026for I am the Lord that healeth thee;\u201d <\/span>or <\/span>\u201c<\/span><\/i><\/b>By\nwhose stripes ye were healed<\/span>,\u201d<\/span> <\/span>or<\/span> <\/span>\u201cBut unto you that\nfear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings,\u201d <\/span>or<\/span> <\/span>\u201cwho\nhealeth all thy diseases,\u201d <\/span>etc.)<\/span><\/b> <\/span>or head to the\ndrugstore to pick up some cold remedy?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Don\u2019t\nget me wrong.\u00a0 <\/span>I\u2019m not condemning anyone\nfor using aspirin or anything else.\u00a0 <\/span>What\nI\u2019m saying is that we have been programmed through <\/span>pharmakeia<\/span><\/i><\/b> \u2013 witchcraft \u2013 in\nour society to trust the substitute, the counterfeit, instead of taking Jesus Christ\nat His Word!\u00a0 <\/span>Our thoughts and our\ndecisions have been programmed by lying spirits.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I\nrefer to aspirin and various medical remedies as \u201ccounterfeit\u201d because they\ndon\u2019t heal you.\u00a0 <\/span>These medicines simply\nmake you feel better in the midst of your sickness or affliction.\u00a0 <\/span>Your ultimate healing still comes from the\nLord instead of the medical profession.\u00a0\n<\/span>The problem is that we\u2019ve been programmed to follow a routine of heading\nfor the medicine cabinet instead of declaring our health and walking in it by faith.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Pharmakeia <\/span><\/i><\/b>becomes the\nsubstitute for faith.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Have\nI stepped on enough toes yet?\u00a0 <\/span>Ouch,\nanyone?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

II Chronicles 16:12<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span><\/b>And\nAsa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until\nhis disease was<\/i> exceeding great<\/i>: yet in his disease he sought not\nto the LORD, but to the physicians.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That\nwas NOT a compliment!\u00a0 <\/span>The following\nverses make it clear that, although he was descended from David, he did not get\nburied in the graves or sepulchres of the Kings.\u00a0 <\/span>Instead he was buried in his own grave, AFTER\ncremating him!\u00a0 <\/span>It is one of the very few\nexamples in the Word where a leader was cremated instead of being buried with\nhonors.\u00a0 <\/span>He had, in fact, succumbed to\nthe Spirit of Witchcraft in the form of <\/span>pharmakeia, <\/span><\/i><\/b>which was\novertaking the land.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let\nme tell you, it takes the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, and the\ntransformation of our thought processes to redeem us from the witchcraft and\nthe control of our minds and thought processes that has invaded our society.\u00a0 <\/span>It is nothing less than wicked!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

God\u2019s\npeople today are regularly deprived of the promises inherent in our\nrelationship with Jesus Christ by virtue of the fact that their minds and\nthoughts have been programmed into believing the lies that pervade western\nculture.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\ntrust the doctors and the medicines more than we trust the Lord.\u00a0 <\/span>We trust the banks and credit unions more\nthan we trust the Lord to help us in our finances.\u00a0 <\/span>We\u2019ve accepted Mammon as God when it comes to\noperating in a financial realm because \u201cthis is the way things are done.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\nhave a society living beyond their means and capabilities by virtue of the\ncredit card mentality we\u2019ve had shoved in our face year after year after\nyear.\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s easy.\u00a0 <\/span>You bet!\u00a0\n<\/span>And it teaches us to sign our lives away and put us in bondage to others\nwho control our financial destinies instead of being free to use our resources\nas God directs.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Witchcraft?\u00a0 <\/span>You bet!\u00a0\n<\/span>Our minds have been altered.\u00a0 <\/span>Our\nthoughts have been altered.\u00a0 <\/span>Our\ndependencies have been altered.\u00a0 <\/span>Our\ntrust has been altered.\u00a0 <\/span>When it comes to\nthings like health, healing, finances and the like, the promises in God\u2019s Word\nbecome almost mythical in the face of the expectations we\u2019ve grown up\nwith.\u00a0 <\/span>We don\u2019t expect to be healed.\u00a0 <\/span>We expect to take an aspirin, or maybe a penicillin\nshot, or a flu shot, or some other such thing.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We\ndon\u2019t expect God to prosper us.\u00a0 <\/span>We look\nto our employer and our weekly paychecks as our sources.\u00a0 <\/span>The Word of God and God\u2019s promises to us have\nbeen shuttled into oblivion.\u00a0 <\/span>I\u2019d be\nwilling to venture that three-quarters of all Christians on the face of the\nearth \u2013 Nawwww\u2026..make that 90 percent \u2013 have no clue what their inheritance in\nJesus Christ is, nor do they even conceive of Him having an inheritance in us.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It\nget\u2019s<\/span> worse, folks!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nwitchcraft has so permeated the body of Christ that we have preachers who\nlaughingly and mockingly refer to any teaching or preaching on God\u2019s promise to\nbless His people as \u201cthe Prosperity Gospel.\u201d\u00a0\n<\/span>They ridicule it, and they ridicule the Word in which John makes it\nperfectly clear in his third epistle to the Body of Christ.\u00a0 <\/span>If this teaching is so ungodly, then why did\nJohn write the following:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

III John, V2:<\/span><\/u><\/b>\u00a0\n<\/span><\/span>Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be\nin health, even as thy soul prospereth<\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Of\ncourse it is conditional!\u00a0 <\/span>Of course\nthere are requirements for that to be a nonstop lifestyle.\u00a0 <\/span>Just because there are requirements does not\nnegate the truth of it!\u00a0 <\/span>The very fact\nthat God has made so many promises concerning His desire to bless and prosper\nHis people above all the people on the earth ought to be a non-stop focus in\nthe lives of believers to achieve those promises in reality in their daily\nlives!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nfact that so many believers do not accept that truth is proof of the fact that\nthey have been lied to and deceived by the Enemy.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n
