\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

We have talked on numerous occasions in the past about the\nSpirit of Jezebel, and how that spirit has invaded the body of Christ.\u00a0 <\/span>The common misconception is that refers\nstrictly to women who aree<\/span> afflicted by this\nspirit.\u00a0 <\/span>Not so!\u00a0 <\/span>I have personally seen more men afflicted by\nthis spirit than I have women.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Let\nme start off today with a prophecy that John gives in Revelation 2 to the\nEkklesia in Thyatira:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Revelation 2:20-24:<\/span><\/u><\/b>\n\u201cNotwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest<\/span> that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a\nprophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to\neat things sacrificed unto idols.\u00a0 <\/span>And I\ngave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. <\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>Behold, I will cast\nher into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation,\nexcept they repent of their deeds.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches\nshall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give\nunto every one of you according to your works.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as\nhave not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they\nspeak; I will put upon you none other burden.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Pretty\nstrong, isn\u2019t it?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Obviously,\nthe Lord wasn\u2019t saying that Jezebel \u2013 the wife of King Ahab and daughter of\nEthbaal, the Amorite king \u2013 was still alive and operating in Thyatira nearly a\nthousand years after her death.\u00a0 <\/span>He was\nreferring to that spirit that emulated her, actually that wicked, evil spirit\nthat ruled Jezebel and contaminated the life of Israel in ways that ultimately\nled the nation into captivity.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let\u2019s\ntake a look at some of the characteristics of Jezebel in John\u2019s prophecy \u2013 the\ncharacteristics of this spirit \u2013 and how it was contaminating the body of\nChrist even then, in or around 96 AD.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

1. <\/span>\u201cShe\ncalleth herself a prophetess.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/span>Hmmmmm.\u2026.\u00a0 <\/span>OK.\u00a0 <\/span>False prophet (ess) and false prophecy.\u00a0 <\/span>False prophecy is the epitome of witchcraft\nbecause it seeks to promote the false prophet(ess) and manipulate outcomes for\nthose who receive the prophecy.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

2. <\/span>\u201cto\nteach and seduce my servants\u2026\u201d\u00a0\n<\/span>Right.\u00a0 <\/span>This spirit poses as a\nseductive teacher, promoting doctrines and teachings that lead the people of\nGod astray.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

3. <\/span>\u201cto\ncommit fornication.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>This seduction is\nboth spiritual and sexual.\u00a0 <\/span>We\u2019ll get\ninto that in more detail shortly.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

4. <\/span>\u201cand\nto eat things sacrificed unto idols.\u201d\u00a0\n<\/span>Uhh Huhh.\u00a0 <\/span>Idolatry: the worship\nor reverence of things, or individuals, or entities other than the Lord\nHimself: the prioritizing of doctrines over a relationship with the Lord Jesus\nChrist.\u00a0 <\/span>Just wait.\u00a0 <\/span>It gets worse.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

5. <\/span>\u201cI\ngave her space to repent of her fornication.\u201d\u00a0\n<\/span>So Jezebel (or those individuals contaminated with that spirit) are\nactively committing fornication.\u00a0 <\/span>That\ndoesn\u2019t mean they are necessarily running around, having promiscuous sexual\nrelations, although they well may.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

6. <\/span>\u201cand\nshe repented not.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>So those afflicted\nwith this spirit generally tend to be unrepentant.\u00a0 <\/span>They have no remorse over their sin, can\u2019t\nsee that what they are doing is sin, and refuse to repent when faced with\nexposure of their sin.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

7. <\/span>\u201cBehold,\nI will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great\ntribulation, except they repent of their deeds.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>So it\u2019s more than just fornication: it is\nadultery, too.\u00a0 <\/span>We\u2019ll get into this more,\ntoo, as this discussion proceeds.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

8. <\/span>\u201cAnd\nI will kill all her children with death.\u201d\u00a0\n<\/span>Strange phrase, isn\u2019t it?\u00a0 <\/span>If one\ngets killed, they are dead are they not?\u00a0\n<\/span>How do you kill someone with death?\u00a0\n<\/span>This is an interesting Hebrew metaphor occurring in the Greek text.\u00a0 <\/span>In this case, the Lord is talking about more\nthan physical death: He is talking about an eternal death and separation from\nall possibility of redemption or future relationship with Him.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

If\nthere is any hallmark of the spirit of Jezebel, or some particular\ncharacteristic that sums up and describes its overall purpose, it would be\n\u201cusurper.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>The primary objective of the\nspirit of Jezebel is to usurp the operational authority of the Lord Jesus\nChrist in those who are anointed and appointed by the Holy Spirit to minister,\nto present itself as THE voice of the Lord instead, and to take control of the\nleadership of God\u2019s people.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

See\nthat word, \u201ccontrol\u201d?\u00a0 <\/span>It goes with\nmanipulation.\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s called witchcraft.\u00a0 <\/span>That\u2019s what we\u2019ve been talking about for\nthese past weeks. \u00a0<\/span>So what is witchcraft,\nreally?\u00a0 <\/span>Black magic?\u00a0 <\/span>Hocus-pocus? Magical incantations?\u00a0 <\/span>Spells?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Whenever\nyou use the word, witchcraft, people automatically associate it with magic,\nincantations, casting of spells, etc.\u00a0\n<\/span>And that, folks, is exactly how Satan wants you to see witchcraft!\u00a0 <\/span>The Enemy wants you to focus on the\nsuperstitious aspects of witchcraft, the mythological and fantastical images of\nan old hag stirring a cauldron of some evil brew.\u00a0 <\/span>He doesn't want you to see witchcraft for\nwhat it really is: the deliberate manipulation of people through deception,\nmis-direction, creating suspicion of others and -- more specifically --\ncreating dissension among God's people by promoting false teachings which\nquestion just how far our relationship with the Lord stretches.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This\nis where the first description (<\/span>She calleth herself a\nprophetess<\/span>)\nplays such a major role within the Body of Christ today.\u00a0 <\/span>For centuries, God's people have been plagued\nwith folks who've succumbed to this spirit, and I daresay that more men are\ncontaminated with the spirit of Jezebel than women.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let's\ntalk for a minute about the role of the prophet(ess).\u00a0 <\/span>This word is derived from the original Greek,\nprophetes<\/span><\/i><\/b>, which is a conjunction of two\nother words meaning: to proclaim, or to put forth the thoughts or expressions\n[of God]<\/span><\/u><\/b>.\u00a0 <\/span>The more common\ninterpretation of the Greek term is to describe one who speaks forth under\nspecific inspiration -- one who is a \"forth teller.\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That\ncan describe one who foretells future events (and that is probably the most\ncommon perception of a prophet), but is more accurately referring to one who\nspeaks forth under divine inspiration, \"telling forth\" that which\nHoly Spirit is speaking about or addressing under certain circumstances and in\ncertain situations.\u00a0 <\/span>Foretelling the\nfuture is certainly a part of being a prophet.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

All\ntoo often, however, the spirit of divination is what masks itself as the spirit\nof prophecy.\u00a0 <\/span>The spirit of divination is\nthe demonic counterpart for the spirit of prophecy.\u00a0 <\/span>Divination is that which takes place when an\nindividual is \"inspired\" with thoughts and pictures of unfolding\nevents, either by the use of astrology, Ouija boards, palm reading, seeing\nimages in a crystal ball and a myriad of other means.\u00a0 <\/span>The catch is that the spirit of divination\noften has a particle of accuracy in some facts, enough of which leads to\ndeception -- both for the \"diviner\" and for the intended target of\nthe divination.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Again,\nthe spirit of divination will at times utilize Scripture verses out of context\nand in the wrong situation in order to lead men and women astray.\u00a0 <\/span>You may ask how that could be possible, or\nhow people could fall prey to such deception.\u00a0\n<\/span>The real truth is that when people do not live in a place of intimacy\nwith the Lord Jesus Christ, when they do not continually live in a place of\ndaily, moment-by-moment communication with the Lord where they hear His voice,\nthey become susceptible to deception.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Once\na person hears and KNOWS the voice of God, any other voice and any\ncommunication which comes out of a wrong spirit simply lacks the authority, the\npeace, the love and the power of God.\u00a0 <\/span>Many\nyears ago (and I've shared this before) when I had my first trip to Heaven and\nhad the opportunity to sit down and talk with Abraham, he said to me (in\nresponse to a question), \"Once you've heard the voice of God, there is no\nother voice!\"\u00a0 <\/span>That is absolutely\ntrue!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

No\nmatter how much Satan tries to counterfeit the voice of God through the spirit\nof Jezebel, no matter how much effort is made to seem like the authoritative\nvoice of God in what seems like a prophetic word, if that word comes from a\nspirit of divination, the difference between that voice and the voice of God is\nunmistakable.\u00a0 <\/span>No demon, no voice of an\nevil spirit can match the supreme authority that rests in God's voice.\u00a0 <\/span>Any voice which speaks without the peace that\npasses all understanding -- especially if correction is being brought -- comes\nout of a spirit of divination operating through and in cooperation with a\nspirit of Jezebel.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

When\nI hear the Lord speak to me, I don't have to sit and try to figure out whether\nI'm actually hearing Him, or whether I'm being led down the primrose path by a\nlying spirit.\u00a0 <\/span>The voice of Father God\nhas supreme authority in it, along with agape<\/span><\/i><\/b>\nlove, and even in the midst of correction and reproof there is a peace that\ndefies explanation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We have touched on the fact that this\nspirit perverts sex, sexual relationships and male-female roles.\u00a0 <\/span>Jezebel was the incarnation of the presiding\nspirit of the Amorites.\u00a0 <\/span>Beyond the fact\nthat the dominant spirit in their midst was The Fear of Evil, they had adopted\nthe perversions of their Canaanite brethren.\u00a0\n<\/span>Let's not forget that the curse which came upon Canaan as the firstborn\nson of Ham the son of Noah was a direct result of Ham's perversion and the\nhomosexual act he committed on his father while Noah was passed out from his\nwine.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Sexual perversion of every conceivable act\nand type were hallmarks of each of the seven nations that inhabited the land of\nCanaan, and it was one of the reasons why God commanded Israel NEVER to cohabit\nthe land with them, not to compromise with them in any way and not to get\nsucked into the worship of their pantheon of gods.\u00a0 <\/span>Sexual perversion (sex between men and\nanimals, women and animals, homosexual acts and lesbian activity, just as an\nexample) was elevated by many of the nations as a mode of worship to Baal and\nAstarte (or Ashtaroth).<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The Amorites took it to another level and\nJezebel played it to the hilt.\u00a0 <\/span>Men and\nwomen were forced into sexual slavery as \"cult prostitutes\" for the\npriests and priestesses, and it became their duty to perform and provide\nsatisfaction to the priests and priestesses as an act of worship to the gods.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Jezebel used these practices to entice men\nand women in Israel.\u00a0 <\/span>Just like her\nCanaanite cousins, she ordained homosexual priests and lesbian priestesses as\nIsrael's \"holy ones.\"\u00a0 <\/span>Here's\nthe issue!\u00a0 <\/span>She was facilitated and\nenabled by Ahab.\u00a0 <\/span>As an Israelite, Ahab\nknew better.\u00a0 <\/span>He knew God's commands to\nIsrael.\u00a0 <\/span>He couldn't have been more\nfamiliar with God's command:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\"There shall be no cult prostitute [lesbian]\nof the daughters of Israel<\/st1:country-region>,\nneither shall there be a cult prostitute (a sodomite) [homosexual] of the sons\nof Israel<\/st1:country-region><\/st1:place>.\u00a0\nYou shall not bring the hire of a harlot or the price of a dog [a sodomite]\ninto the house of the Lord your God, in payment for a vow; for both of these --\nthe gift and the giver -- are an abomination to the Lord your God.\"<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>(Deuteronomy\n23:17-18, Amplified Version)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Consider what the Scripture says of Ahab: <\/span>\"And\nAhab the son of Omri<\/span> did evil in the sight of the\nLORD above all that were<\/i> before him. \u00a0<\/span><\/sup>And it came to pass, as if it had been a\nlight thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat<\/span>, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal\nking of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him. \u00a0<\/span><\/sup>And he reared up an altar for Baal in\nthe house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria. \u00a0<\/span><\/sup>And Ahab made a grove; and Ahab did\nmore to provoke the LORD God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel\nthat were before him<\/u>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

How's\nthat for a testimony against him?\u00a0 <\/span>Now\nyou see how Jezebel was enabled in Israel with her abominations.\u00a0 <\/span>There is a particular phrase in this passage\nwhich says a whole lot: \"And Ahab made a grove.\"\u00a0 <\/span>This is a poor translation from the Hebrew\n\"asherah<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>.\"\u00a0 <\/span>While this word can be translated as\n\"image\" it is representative of a place of worship with life-size\nidols, altars and (somewhat) secluded sites hidden among leafy trees for their\n\"worship.\"\u00a0 <\/span>Since the\n\"worship\" of these idols of Ashtaroth and Baal required every kind of\nperverse sexual activity, Ahab was specifically enabling Jezebel to promote\nthese abominations in the land.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

History\nmakes very clear that Jezebel and those of her ilk sacrificed the lives of\nyoung boys and young girls, forcing them into temple sex until their lives were\nspent and they were discarded and (frequently) put to death when they no longer\nsatisfied their masters.\u00a0 <\/span>The flourishing\nsex trade we see today is a direct product of Baal worship, or the worship of\nthe ancient gods.\u00a0 <\/span>The fact that we see\nso many priests being tried for sexual molestation of young boys is a\ncontinuing carryover of the spirit of Jezebel.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It is\na sick, sick fact that this has been far more prevalent than anyone has any\nidea.\u00a0 <\/span>Next week, I want to talk a bit\nabout the sexual perversion that has invaded the body of Christ, and the evil\nthat it represents.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

As\nwe wrap up today's Coffee Break, following is an excerpt of a recent prophetic\nword delivered by Dutch Sheets, a brother with a profound accuracy in his\nprophetic utterances, and one whom I first met and came to deeply appreciate a\ngood 30 years ago.\u00a0 <\/span>This word is relevant\nto what I've been sharing on the spirit of Jezebel.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\"Opposition, both from the Church and the world, will\nincrease as we break out of normal. Religious spirits will insist on\nmaintaining old structures and systems, and the kingdom of darkness will react\naggressively to the spirit of revival. Don't be alarmed at this. Stay the\ncourse and resist the demonic pressure!\"<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n
