\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Last week, we started\noff a bit differently than we have in the past, and this week\u2019s Coffee Break is\nno different.\u00a0 <\/span>Last week, we dealt with\nthe effect of curses, and the non-effect of causeless curses.\u00a0 <\/span>This week, let\u2019s talk about deliverance from\nthe need to compromise.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

In Psalm 122:6, David\nwrites,<\/span><\/b> <\/span>\"Pray\nfor the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.\u00a0 Peace be\nwithin thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.\u00a0 For my brethren and\ncompanions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.\u00a0 Because of the\nhouse of the Lord our God I will seek thy good.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Then Ezekiel\nprophesies,<\/span><\/b> <\/span>\"Again\nthe word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, thy brethren, even thy\nbrethren, the men of thy kindred, and all the house of Israel wholly, are they\nunto whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, Get you far from the LORD:\nunto us is this land given in possession.\u00a0 Therefore say, Thus saith the\nLord GOD; Although I have cast them far off among the heathen, and although I\nhave scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little\nsanctuary in the countries where they shall come.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\"Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even gather\nyou from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been\nscattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.\u00a0 And they shall come\nthither, and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the\nabominations thereof from thence.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit\nwithin you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give\nthem an heart of flesh: That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine\nordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.\u00a0\nBut as for them whose heart walketh after the heart of their detestable things\nand their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their own heads, saith\nthe Lord GOD.\"\u00a0 <\/span>(Ezekiel 11:14-21)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Brother!\u00a0 What a\nmouthful!\u00a0 Now, before we get too far along in this and you begin to\nwonder where I'm headed in this discussion, let me lay a clear foundation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

In Exodus 34:10-17<\/st1:bcv_smarttag>, we read the following:<\/span><\/b> <\/span>\"And he said,\nBehold, I make a covenant: before all thy people I will do marvels, such as\nhave not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation: and all the people\namong which thou art shall see the work of the LORD: for it is a terrible thing\nthat I will do with thee.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Observe thou that which I command thee this day: behold, I drive\nout before thee the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the\nPerizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite.\u00a0 Take heed to thyself, lest\nthou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest\nit be for a snare in the midst of thee: But ye shall destroy their altars,\nbreak their images, and cut down their groves:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is\nJealous, is a jealous God: Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of\nthe land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their\ngods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice; And thou take of their\ndaughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and\nmake thy sons go a whoring after their gods.\u00a0 Thou shalt make thee no molten\ngods.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

OK.\u00a0 That ought\nto be a good start.\u00a0 You DO understand, do you not, what we're talking\nabout here?<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

God made\nit absolutely, abundantly clear that the nation of Israel was NOT to compromise\nwith, make covenants with, nor co-habit the land of their inheritance with the\nseven nations whom He had pronounced His judgment upon.\u00a0 Let's not forget\nthat the judgment against these seven nations actually goes back many hundreds\nof years even before Israel was in captivity in Egypt.\u00a0 It began with a homosexual\nact committed by Ham against his father, Noah, while he was in a drunken\nstupor.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Lest you\nthink I'm off on some wild hair, let me take you back to Genesis 9:24-25<\/st1:bcv_smarttag> where we read, <\/span>\"And\nNoah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto\nhim.\u00a0 And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be\nunto his brethren.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let's be\nclear about this.\u00a0 Noah didn't pronounce this most incredible of curses\nbecause Ham had simply pulled his robe off to look at him while he was\ndrunk.\u00a0 Verse 22 of the same chapter tells us (KJV<\/st1:translation_smarttag>) that Ham <\/span>\"saw\nthe nakedness of his father\" <\/span>and then went and bragged to his brothers\nabout what he had done.\u00a0 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Gesenius,\nin his Hebrew-Chaldee Lexicon<\/span><\/i><\/b>,\ntells us that the phrase \"saw the nakedness of<\/u>\" is a\nmetaphor for engaging in an illicit sexual act<\/i><\/b> -- regardless of whether\nit refers to male or female.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The fact\nthat Ham committed this act was horrific enough as it was, but to commit it\nupon his father was an unspeakable act of treachery and betrayal, never mind\nthe fact that he subsequently laughs and brags to his two brothers.\u00a0 I\nknow it seems like I'm going around a 40-acre field, but bear with me for a\nmoment.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Thus Noah\npronounced a curse upon Canaan, the firstborn son of Ham, along with all of the\nseed to follow in that lineage.\u00a0 The Amorites, the Canaanites, the\nHittites, the Hivites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites and the Girgashites were\nall descendants of Canaan.\u00a0 God specifically promised the lands of these\nnations to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob\/Israel; and He subsequently told\nMoses that HE would drive them out of the land before Israel.\u00a0 Israel,\nhowever, was NOT to covenant with them, not to compromise with them in any way,\nnot to intermarry with their sons and daughters.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In fact,\nthey did just that.\u00a0 Only one of the seven nations actually disappeared --\nthe Girgashites.\u00a0 Both Scripture and history tell us that they fled from\nthe land before the oncoming Israelites.\u00a0 Joshua began the compromise with\nthe nations when he failed to check with the Lord concerning the\nGibeonites.\u00a0 Had he done so, he would quickly have learned that they were\nHivites who were using their deceptive and manipulative skills in order to\nsurvive and avoid their destruction at that moment in time.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let's not\nforget that this tactic of the Hivites was already well established when the\nsons of Hamor -- and particularly Shechem -- sought a covenant with Jacob in\nthe matter of Jacob's daughter, Dinah.\u00a0 The story unfolds in Genesis 34<\/st1:bcv_smarttag>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We see\nShechem and Hamor talking with their fellow-Hivite elders\nand saying, <\/span>\"These men are peaceable with us; therefore let them dwell\nin the land, and trade therein; for the land, behold, it is large enough for\nthem; let us take their daughters to us for wives, and let us give them our\ndaughters.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Only herein will the men consent unto us for to dwell with us,\nto be one people, if every male among us be circumcised, as they are\ncircumcised.\u00a0 Shall not their cattle and their substance and every beast\nof theirs be ours? only let us consent unto them, and they will dwell with\nus.\"\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\npicture is quite obvious.\u00a0 Once they've intermarried with the descendants\nof Jacob, their intention is to gobble up everything they've got.\u00a0 It was\na spirit that ruled the entire nation of Hivites.\u00a0 Deception, trickery,\nlies, false promises, manipulation, using sexual seduction -- you name it --\nall were characteristics of these people.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And the\nHivites were not alone in these characteristics.\u00a0 Those these traits were\nthe dominant traits of the Hivites -- and each of the other seven nations had\ntheir own specific traits, cultural identities and characteristics -- the use\nof deception and trickery in order to gain control of their enemies was common\nto all seven nations.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Hence, the\nLord gave Moses a direct order to kill, to destroy every last man, woman,\nchild, cattle and beast of the field belonging to these nations: not to save\nalive any portion of their existence, but to blot them out.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Got the\npicture?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Good.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let's take\nthis the next step.\u00a0 Most of those people who call themselves\n\"Palestinians\" are, in fact, descendants of one or more of these\naccursed nations.\u00a0 The present-day Gaza Strip is the old stomping grounds\nof the Philistines, who were an Amorite tribe.\u00a0 Palestinians occupying the\nso-called \"West Bank\" historically are descendants of the Amorites\nand Hittites, along with a mix of Ammonites (present day Amman, Jordan [and one\nof the oldest cities in continuous existence for thousands of years] gets its\nname from its Ammonite forbears).\u00a0 The name, Palestine, actually derives\nfrom its origin in Philistia (the Philistines).<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Here's a\nproblem.\u00a0 Israel's old \u2013 and now imprisoned -- Prime Minister, Ehud\nOlmert, announced his intention to divide the city of Jerusalem and give away\n-- unilaterally, if necessary -- half the city to the Palestinians.\u00a0 <\/span>That ultimately cost Olmert<\/span>\nhis Prime Ministership<\/span>, and eventually saw him tried\nfor fraud and corruption.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

If memory\nserves me correctly, it was Winston Churchill who once said, \"Peace at any\nprice is no peace at all.\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Olmert's\nefforts to gain peaceful coexistence with the Palestinians were doomed before they\never got off the ground.\u00a0 He sought, once again, to compromise with a\npeople who have made it abundantly clear (and have never renounced this) that\ntheir ultimate purpose is the control of and eradication -- if necessary -- of\nall Jews in Israel, along with the expunging of the name of Israel from the\nlands and territories they want to call Palestine.\u00a0 Olmert, in fact, was simply\nrepeating the mistakes made by the leaders in Israel more than 3300 years\nago.\u00a0 His labors and efforts -- in ignorance, I am sure \u2013 could have\nbrought a curse upon the nation and the people.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

With Hamas\nnow in control of the Palestinian people, their intentions have become very\novert, whereas before they were more covert.\u00a0 Before I go on with this,\nlet me make something very clear.\u00a0 We are not talking about a people, even\nthough we make reference to the Palestinians.\u00a0 There are many Palestinian\npeople who would just as soon live in peace and prosperity with the Jews.\u00a0\nThere are many of them who don't care anything whatever for a so-called nation\nof Palestine.\u00a0 There are many of them who actually are committed\nChristians.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

What I am\nreferring to is a spirit in control of the leadership of these people.\u00a0 It\nis the same spirit that Israel needed to overcome that was in control of the\nnations that occupied that region prior to its being given to the descendants\nof Israel by the Lord God.\u00a0 This is a \"principality,\" a\n\"ruler of the darkness\" of the region.\u00a0 Once again, we see this\nspirit seeking the elimination and annihilation of God's people, Israel, just\nas it did when the Lord gave the lands to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob by divine\ncovenant.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And once\nagain, we saw the leaders in Israel seeking a compromise in order to bring an\nend to the perpetual conflict that has plagued the region.\u00a0 While it isn't\nhard to understand the desire for peace, peace at any price -- including the\ngiving away of one's inheritance, and especially half of a city that has the\nmost incredible history of any city in the world: a history of God's purposes\nand His covenant with a people who have chosen a relationship with Him --\nresults in no peace, and ultimately the destruction of those who capitulate to\ncompromise.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

David well\nknew the history of Jerusalem before he wrote, <\/span>\"Pray for\nthe peace of Jerusalem,\" <\/span>and then prophesied, <\/span>\"they\nshall prosper that love thee.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That said,\none of the purposes of today's Coffee Break is to alert Christians to a\nconspiracy of Satan -- actually a conspiracy that has existed for millennia --\nand call the body of Christ to prayer and intercession for Jerusalem, and for\nthe nation of Israel.\u00a0 I believe it is incumbent upon us as believers to\npray the fulfillment of Ezekiel's prophecy, to wit:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\"Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even gather you from the\npeople, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and\nI will give you the land of Israel.\u00a0 And they shall come thither, and they\nshall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations\nthereof from thence.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit\nwithin you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give\nthem an heart of flesh: That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine\nordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.\n\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let's make\nit clear.\u00a0 The Palestinian inhabitants (under the control of this evil\nspirit), <\/span>\"The inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, Get you far from\nthe LORD: unto us is this land given in possession.\"<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span>The gathering of\nthe people, as prophesied by Ezekiel, began many years ago.\u00a0 The\nassembling out of the countries where Jews have been scattered for centuries\nhas been taking place since the 1940's.\u00a0 What has not yet manifested is\n\"a new spirit\" and God's promise that <\/span>\"I will\ntake the stony heart out of their flesh.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In the\ncoming days and weeks, I call upon all of you who read this to join us in\nconcerted prayer and intercession for Jerusalem, and for Israel.\u00a0 God has\na purpose here, and I will not stand idly by knowing that purpose, and fail in\nmy responsibility to cry out on behalf of the city, and the nation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

There's a\nwhole lot more I could say on this, but hopefully, this will adequately spur\nyou to prayer, to intercession, to praise, to High Praise, to worship, to\n\"battle worship.\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This is a\nwarning to those who would compromise with the Enemy.\u00a0 <\/span>Beware, my brothers and sisters!\u00a0 <\/span>Compromise leads to destruction!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n
