Tribulation, Part 3<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

I ran out of time last week to finish the story of 13-year-old\nRosa Frankson, who endured persecution, beatings and torture for the sake of\nthe Gospel.\u00a0 <\/span>I\u2019m getting ahead of myself\nin saying so, but her life and her testimony affected the whole community of\nPoint Hope, Alaska.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

After\nthree or four days of hanging between life and death, and fading in and out of\nconsciousness, she was awake and talking to the attending nurse.\u00a0\n\"You need to know Jesus like I do,\" she said.\u00a0 The nurse teared\nup, and not knowing what else to do or say, reached over and patted Rosa on the\nhead.\u00a0 \"You're going to\u00a0be OK, Rosa.\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0Rosa\nnodded her head and said, \"Oh, yes!\u00a0 I know I'm going to be OK.\u00a0\nI'm going home to Jesus!\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nnurse ran out and called for the doctor.\u00a0 Her parents had just come into\nthe hospital and they followed the nurse and doctor into the hospital room in\ntime to see Rosa raising her hands toward the ceiling.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0\"Jesus!\u00a0\nJesus!\u00a0 I see you.\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

A\nsmile lit up her face, her hands sagged back to the bed, and she was gone.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0In\nthe days that followed, the nurse and the doctor both accepted Jesus Christ as\ntheir Lord and Saviour.\u00a0 Rosa's parents likewise accepted the Lord.\u00a0\nDad preached the funeral back in Point Hope a week later.\u00a0 The boys who\nhad beaten her wept and cried, repenting before the community, and asking Jesus\nto come into their hearts.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0It\nwas the end of the shaman's exercise of authority in Point Hope.\u00a0 He\nshortly thereafter was diagnosed with cancer and died a few months later in a\nmysterious fire that burned his sod house to the ground.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0Rosa's\ntestimony and dogged determination to serve the Lord at the cost of her life\nhad both an immediate and long-term impact on Point Hope.\u00a0 It broke the\nspell of witchcraft that had held the community in bondage for hundreds of\nyears, and it pointed a path to freedom for her family and many young people\nwho have since gone on in their walk with the Lord Jesus Christ.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Rosa\nFrankson proved to everyone through her life and her death that there was\nsomething far more powerful than witchcraft: it was the love of the Lord Jesus\nChrist, operating in her and through her.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nvery idea that we should be able to escape from such things makes the Gospel a\nlie.\u00a0 <\/span>The current doctrines of the \u201cGreat\nTribulation\u201d are nothing more than a demonic attempt to infiltrate the body of\nChrist with an overpowering spirit of The Fear of Death.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Jesus\ndied for us.\u00a0 <\/span>He shed His blood for\nus.\u00a0 <\/span>But he gained the final victory over\ndeath by rising again the third day and canceling out Adam\u2019s death on the third\nday.\u00a0 <\/span>If that which the Lord has done in\nus is not worth challenging the world\u2019s systems, its traditions, its\npsychological thought processes, as well as the religious baloney that\npopulates the globe, we are liars and the truth is not in us.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Consider\nthat which Paul writes again to the Ekklesia in Corinth:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

II Corinthians 6:4-10<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>But in all things<\/i>\napproving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions,\nin necessities, in distresses, <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>In stripes, in\nimprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings;<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/sup><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/sup><\/p>\n\n

By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the\nHoly Ghost, by love unfeigned, <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>By the word of truth,\nby the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on\nthe left, <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>By\nhonour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet<\/i>\ntrue; <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/sup><\/p>\n\n

As unknown, and yet<\/i> well known; as dying, and, behold, we\nlive; as chastened, and not killed; <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>As sorrowful, yet\nalway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet<\/i>\npossessing all things.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Look\nat one more statement that Paul makes in his letter to the Colossians.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Colossians 1:23-24<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>If ye continue in the\nfaith grounded and settled, and be<\/i> not moved away from the hope of the\ngospel, which ye have heard, and<\/i> which was preached to every creature\nwhich is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister; <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>Who now rejoice in my\nsufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of\nChrist in my flesh for his body\u2019s sake, which is the church\u2026..<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

If\nJesus suffered and died for us, what makes us think that we are better than\nHim?\u00a0 <\/span>How is it that we do not get to\n\u201cenjoy\u201d the same <\/span>thlipsis<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span><\/i><\/b>\u2014 tribulation, afflictions \u2014that Jesus\nendured?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Romans 5:1-5<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0\n<\/span><\/span><\/b>Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God\nthrough our Lord Jesus Christ: <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/sup>By whom also we have\naccess by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the\nglory of God.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And not only so<\/i>, but we glory in tribulations also:\nknowing that tribulation worketh patience<\/span><\/u>; And\npatience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed;\nbecause the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is\ngiven unto us.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Romans 8:35-39<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0\n<\/span><\/span><\/b>Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall<\/u><\/i>\ntribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or\nsword<\/u>?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long;\nwe are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him\nthat loved us<\/span><\/u>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/sup><\/p>\n\n

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels,\nnor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, \u00a0<\/span><\/sup>Nor height, nor depth, nor any other\ncreature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ\nJesus our Lord.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

How\ndo you like that?\u00a0 <\/span>Let\u2019s take a look\ntoday at what takes place in all of us when we experience tribulation\u201d or\npressure or persecution.\u00a0 <\/span>Let me begin\ntoday with some humorous anecdotes.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

After\nyears of opposition to the ministry of deliverance \u2014 never mind the opposition\nI ran into from Mormon leaders in Utah \u2014 it produced a liberty and holy\nboldness in me that I couldn\u2019t put into words.\u00a0\n<\/span>A day came when I was attending a conference with Derek Prince in\nsouthern California.\u00a0 <\/span>We had just\nfinished a time of praise and worship.\u00a0\n<\/span>Derek Prince felt that the time of praise and worship should not have\nended and he pointed to the musicians and asked them to continue.\u00a0 <\/span>I can\u2019t remember exactly what they were\nplaying, but if memory serves me, it was something like, \u201cI WILL ENTER\nHIS GATES WITH THANKSGIVING.\u201d<\/o:p><\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Derek\nstarted to dance.\u00a0 <\/span>For anyone who ever\nmet him or knew anything about him, he was a very rigid, strait-laced, former\nBritish soldier, whose very proper upbringing and years in the British Army had\nproduced a conservatism you couldn\u2019t ignore.\u00a0\n<\/span>When he started dancing, it was rigid, knees having difficulty bending,\na kind of bouncing up and down.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I\u2019d\nnever seen him dance before and couldn\u2019t help laughing.\u00a0 <\/span>He was doing everything he could to let it\nall out and dance before the Lord.\u00a0 <\/span>Had\nto admit that I hadn\u2019t done a lot of dancing before and decided to let it all\nout!\u00a0 <\/span>I danced with all my might.\u00a0 <\/span>The liberty and freedom that I experienced were\nindescribable.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

When\nwe finished \u2014 and many of the folks who were there also danced vigorously \u2014 an\nolder lady who was sitting behind me reached over and tapped me on the\nshoulder.\u00a0 <\/span>She had not participated in\nthe dance other than to stay seated and tap her feet.\u00a0 <\/span>I turned around to respond to the lady\u2019s tap.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u201cI\nsure wish I had your liberty,\u201d she said.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Without\neven realizing what I was saying, I responded, \u201cSure wish you\u2019d been with me\nwhen I got it.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It\nwas spontaneous.\u00a0 <\/span>When I stopped to\nreally think about what I\u2019d said, there was a striking realization that the\nyears of overcoming personal and religious opposition, persecution and personal\nfailures had created in me an ability to respond to the Lord in complete\nfreedom.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That\ndidn\u2019t mean that I didn\u2019t still have a long ways to go in overcoming and\nconquering other issues that confronted me, but there was a recognition that\nthe Lord had really done something in me.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\napostle Paul continues his accent on tribulation and overcoming in his letter\nto the Romans.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Romans 12:10-14<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span>Be<\/span><\/i>\nkindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one\nanother; \u00a0<\/span><\/sup>Not slothful in\nbusiness; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation<\/u>; continuing instant\nin prayer; \u00a0<\/span><\/sup>Distributing to\nthe necessity of saints; given to hospitality.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not<\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This\nis the second time Paul has talked about patience in conjunction with\ntribulation and affliction.\u00a0 <\/span>I realize\nthat the whole topic of \u201cpatience\u201d is a dirty word in some circles.\u00a0 <\/span>There\u2019s an old clich\u00e9 about not praying for\npatience.\u00a0 <\/span>Only doctors can pray\nfor patients<\/i><\/b>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Riiiiggghhhttt!\u00a0 <\/span>Nobody likes the fact that things drag on and\non and on and on, ad infinitum<\/i>.\u00a0\n<\/span>This is especially true in today\u2019s \u201cpush-button society.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>We want things NOW!\u00a0 <\/span>We want the finish of whatever is happening\nto us NOW!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

But\ntake another look at what Paul wrote.\u00a0 <\/span>We\nquoted this when we opened today\u2019s discussion.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u2026\u2026\u2026...but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that\ntribulation worketh patience<\/span><\/u>; And patience,\nexperience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love\nof God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Get\nit?\u00a0 <\/span>The crushing, the pressure, the\nafflictions we experience, the failures of friends and family around us, all\ncooperate to work patience in us.\u00a0 <\/span>But\nwith that patience comes the experiences of overcoming and conquering the\nemotions and mental gyrations and accusations that the Enemy throws against us\nin the midst of it all.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

But\nit doesn\u2019t stop there!\u00a0 <\/span>The overcoming of\nthose experiences brings hope into our beings, and that\u2019s a hope that is\ngenerated by the love of the Lord Jesus Christ working within us.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Consider\nLuke\u2019s description of what he saw take place with Paul and Barnabas.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Acts 14:21-22<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0\n<\/span><\/span>And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had\ntaught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to<\/i> Iconium, and Antioch,<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/sup><\/p>\n\n

Confirming the souls of the disciples, and<\/i> exhorting them\nto continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter\ninto the kingdom of God<\/u><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

There\nit is!\u00a0 <\/span>There\u2019s the real secret of\ntribulation, affliction, stress, pressure, etc.: entrance into the\nKingdom of God<\/i><\/b>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That\nphrase, \u201cthe Kingdom of God,<\/i><\/b>\u201d is not some ethereal, mystical\nplace, nor is it Heaven.\u00a0 <\/span>The Kingdom of\nGod is that place where the rulership of the Lord Jesus Christ is who we are\nand have become an integral part.\u00a0 <\/span>The\nKingdom of God is nothing less than the domain \u2014 the people \u2014 in whom God\nreigns supreme.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I\ntake you back to the 23rd Psalm which begins, <\/span>The Lord is my\nShepherd<\/span>.\u00a0 <\/span>That is both the Lordship of Jesus Christ and\nHis direct shepherding of our lives.\u00a0 <\/span>It\nrequires our total submission.\u00a0 <\/span>There is\nno room for our acceptance of part of His Word, and resistance to part of\nit.\u00a0 <\/span>He is both Lord and Chief Shepherd!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Skip\nforward, if you will, to what happens when we are led in the Paths of\nRighteousness through the Valley of the Shadow of Death.\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Tribulation?\u00a0 <\/span>Yup!\u00a0\n<\/span>Absolutely!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

But\nlook what happens.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Thy\nRod and Thy Staff, they comfort me<\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Have\nwe been learning the significance of His authority in our lives?\u00a0 <\/span>Yes.\u00a0\n<\/span>Because He is Lord!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Have\nwe been obedient followers of both His written and His rhema<\/span><\/i><\/b> Word?\u00a0 <\/span>Then He has been our Shepherd as well.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Now\nlook what faithfulness and the walk of faith in the midst of the pressure, the\nthreats, the trials and tribulation has produced!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Thou preparest a Table before me in the presence of mine\nenemies!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Right!\u00a0 <\/span>All that the Enemy has thrown against us up\nto this time has backfired on him!\u00a0 <\/span>We\nare getting the riches of God\u2019s Glory given to us while our erstwhile enemies\nhave to stand back and watch.\u00a0 <\/span>And they\ncan\u2019t do a thing about it!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Excuse\nme for getting a bit political for a minute, but this is exactly what is\nhappening right now as God is giving President Trump victory after victory\nafter victory in the face of enormous opposition, attack and an onslaught of\npersecution the likes of which no President in U.S. history has ever had to go\nthrough.\u00a0 <\/span>It is my honest conviction that\nall of the accusations and persistent attacks are already backfiring and are going\nto see the socialist leftists go down to one of the greatest defeats ever seen\nin this country in the next election cycle.\u00a0\n<\/span>Just watch!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n
