OUR COVENANT, Part 6<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

We are continuing today with our\ndiscussion on the <\/span><\/b>kheseed<\/span><\/i><\/b> aspect of Covenant.\u00a0 <\/span>Guess I didn\u2019t think it would take this long\nto cover the various aspects of it, but it is too important to simply brush\nover.\u00a0 <\/span>Let\u2019s pick up with the last couple\nof paragraphs from last week so as to connect our thought processes.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

I should\nprobably state parenthetically, that we are SUPPOSED to take on His onoma<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0 <\/span>With\nthat onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b>\ncomes His power over sickness, His power over death, His authority and power\nover Satan, his demons, and all his works.\u00a0 With that onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span>comes\nbeing seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus.)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This is\nwhy we see so many powerless, weak-kneed, namby-pamby, Caesar-Milquetoast\n(so-called) Christians in the world today.\u00a0 They have \"a name\"\nthat they are Christians, but they both deny, AND LACK, the power to demonstrate\nand back up their claim to being a Christian.\u00a0 They say their lives have\nbeen changed, but for many of them, that change is a fraud.\u00a0 The reason\nwhy they lack the power and authority of the Lord Jesus Christ is because\nthey've taken their \"relationship\" with Him only as far as\n\"salvation.\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Get\nit?\u00a0 There is no covenant!\u00a0 They haven't entered into the covenant\nwith the Lord -- a covenant of blood that gives the Lord literally all that\nthey are, all that they ever hope to be, and all that they have -- including\ntheir pocketbooks.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Ooooops!!!!\u00a0\nNow I'm meddling.\u00a0 Hehehehehehe........<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

No.\u00a0\nNot really!\u00a0 Jesus gave us all that He is, all that He WILL become, and\nall that He has -- INCLUDING the wealth of the Kingdom of God -- and put it at\nour disposal.\u00a0 Perhaps I should say that He has put it all at the disposal\nof those who enter into that covenant relationship with Him.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

When\nwriting to the Galatians, Paul says, <\/span>\"For in Jesus\nChrist, neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision, but faith\nwhich worketh by<\/span> <\/span>agape<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span>(love).\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Thus, it\nis agape-kheseed\n<\/span><\/i><\/b>which empowers our faith and causes us to believe the Word of\nthe Lord, which is the embodiment of His covenant.\u00a0 This isn't something\nhe gives us a tiny bit of: He gives us the capacity to become one with Jesus\nChrist -- <\/span>\"..according to the riches of His glory..\"\u00a0 --\n\"..that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Understand?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let's go\nover the basis of this covenant statement one more time.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We did\nthis yesterday, too.\u00a0 Go back for a second to our review of Abraham and\nthe Lord, and the covenant that God made with him.\u00a0 Remember the\n\"smoking furnace\" and the \"burning lamp\" that depicted the\nphysical presence of the Lord as He passed between the broken pieces of the\nanimals?\u00a0 Remember the analogy of the smoke and the cloud as the covering\nand protection of the Lord as a portion of His part of the covenant to Abraham?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Good.\u00a0\nNow you understand the concept of the cloak, the covering, the symbolism in\nthat covenant of God's gift to Abraham of all that he had.\u00a0 Abraham easily\nbecame the richest man on the face of the earth -- certainly the richest man in\nthat region.\u00a0 He became the most powerful man on the face of the earth in\nhis generation.\u00a0 Because of Abraham's faith in God's covenant Word,\nbecause of Abraham's trust in God's promises, he withheld absolutely NOTHING\nfrom the Lord.\u00a0 All that he was, and all that he ever became belonged to\nthe Lord -- including the son given him as a result of God's covenant with him:\nIsaac!\u00a0\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

By the\nsame token, all that the Lord was became available and accessible to Abraham.\u00a0\nAbraham walked the supernatural from the world's perspective.\u00a0 Though his\nbody was long past the point of procreation, the Lord restored the strength of\nhis youth, enabling him to have children in abundance after the age of 100\nyears.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In his\neighties, Abraham took 318 of his servants and took on the most powerful kings\nand armies of the middle east, defeating them and wiping them out.\u00a0 That\nwasn't natural power or fighting skill: that was a gift from the Lord.\u00a0\nThe Lord defended Abraham and gave him the fighting skills of a whole army,\nembodied in a single person.\u00a0 Not only that, all those who were servants\nto Abraham and lived under his authority benefited by having the same skills\nand power given them.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Now, let's\nget back to the perspective of <\/span>..that ye might be filled with\nall the fullness of God.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Consider\nJesus' prayer in John 17.\u00a0 <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\"And\nnow I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to\nthee.\u00a0 Holy Father, keep through thine own<\/span> <\/span><\/i><\/b>onoma -- nature, very makeup,\ncharacter, power and authority <\/span><\/i><\/b>-- (name) those whom\nthou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let me\npause for a second.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Do you get\nit?\u00a0 Jesus and the Father were one!\u00a0 All that the Father was, Jesus\nwas.\u00a0 All that the Father had Jesus had.\u00a0 All power and authority\nthat the Father exercised, Jesus exercised.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 Because they were\nin covenant together.\u00a0 They were one.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That is\nprecisely what Jesus was praying as He addressed the Father, <\/span>\"That\nthey all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also\nmay be one in us...\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Right!\u00a0\nIf we enter into covenant with the Lord Jesus Christ, we enter into covenant\nwith the Father.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

But it\ngets stronger.\u00a0 Watch.\u00a0 <\/span>\"And the glory\nwhich thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are\none: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that\nthe world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast\nloved me.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Whewww!!!\u00a0\nSo why don't we see more of this kind of completeness (the word translated\n\"perfect\" in our English translations is the Greek word, teleioo<\/span><\/i>,<\/span><\/b> <\/span>which\nmeans to be complete, finished, consummated, accomplished) in Christians\ntoday?\u00a0 It's quite simple, really.\u00a0 Ignorance.\u00a0 Unbelief.\u00a0\nDoubt.\u00a0 Fear.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Fact is,\nwe have a large segment of the body of Christ who are taught to be\nignorant.\u00a0 They are taught according to the doctrines of men instead of\nlistening for themselves to the Holy Spirit.\u00a0 They are taught that\neverything the early believers saw, that everything the apostles and prophets\naccomplished during the first and second centuries died out with them: that\nit's no longer available today.\u00a0 They are taught to be afraid of the\nDevil.\u00a0 They are taught to be afraid of demons.\u00a0\u00a0 They are\ntaught to be afraid of speaking in tongues, healing the sick, raising the dead,\ncleansing the lepers, causing the lame to walk and the blind to see.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

They are\ntaught to respect and be impressed by college and university degrees, along\nwith \"theologians\" whose ignorant study of God is based in academic\narrogance instead of walking in personal relationship with the Lord Jesus\nChrist and being led by the Holy Spirit.\u00a0 They make degrees and the study\nof books by men to supplant the Holy Spirit's leading and authority in their\nlives, worshiping instead the doctrines of men rather than the Lord.\u00a0 It\nis idolatry plain and simple.\u00a0 I heard one teacher a number of years ago\nrefer to it as \"bibliolatry\": the worship of words and letters on\npaper written by men rather than the living Word of God.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Sorry, I'm\ngetting a bit astray here.\u00a0 It is vitally important that we live and walk\nby faith; and that faith only comes by living and walking in the agape love of\nthe Lord; and that agape love of the Lord only comes by entering into covenant\nwith the Lord Jesus Christ; and that covenant of the Lord Jesus Christ is\nabsolute and inviolable to those who enter into it.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

See the\nchain?\u00a0 Father > Jesus Christ > Covenant > Agape > Faith.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It is\ncritically important to us to understand this \"chain of faith\" as it\nrelates to covenant, and as it relates to the promises that Jesus Christ made\nto all who entered into covenant with Him.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Something\nwe have not yet touched on in our discussions of covenant is the fact that with\nevery covenant comes two things: blessing and curse.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Those who\nwalk in covenant and keep that covenant are entitled to such blessings as folks\ntoday can scarcely get a grasp on.\u00a0 By the same token, those who violate\nthat covenant bring upon themselves the curse of the covenant.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Remember\nour previous discussion about the consequences of violating a covenant?\u00a0\nHow -- because a covenant was a life-and-death matter established in blood --\nif one of the parties to the covenant breached that testament, their life was\nforfeit; how even if the abridging party managed to escape death, his\ndescendants took upon themselves the curse and were subject to death at the\nhands of the aggrieved party's descendants to the fourth generation?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The\nTabernacle of Moses provided a graphic representation of blessing and\ncurse.\u00a0 The sacrifices for sin came without the gates, and without those\nblood sacrifices the offenders were subject to the penalties and curse of the\ncovenant.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The curse\nwas spelled out in Deuteronomy 28:15-68:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\"But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto\nthe voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his\nstatutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon\nthee, and overtake thee: <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u201cCursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in\nthe field.\u00a0 Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store.\u00a0 Cursed shall\nbe the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine,\nand the flocks of thy sheep.\u00a0 Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in,\nand cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out.\u00a0 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u201cThe LORD shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in\nall that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and\nuntil thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby\nthou hast forsaken me......<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u201cMoreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall\npursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou\nhearkenedst not unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments\nand his statutes which he commanded thee: And they shall be upon thee for a\nsign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed forever.\u00a0 Because thou servedst\nnot the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the\nabundance of all things....\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

You can\nread the whole thing in Deuteronomy 28.\u00a0 I've only touched on the curse of\nthe covenant with the foregoing verses.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Notice\nthat the Lord says to Israel, <\/span>\"They shall be upon thee for\na sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed forever.\u00a0 Because thou servedst\nnot the Lord thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the\nabundance of all things.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This was\nnot just a curse for four generations: this was a curse upon their seed\nforever!\u00a0 And the crux of the curse was that <\/span>\"thou\nservedst not the Lord thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for\nthe abundance of all things.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The Lord\nhad -- with His covenant -- given them <\/span>\"the abundance\nof all things.\"<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>All\nthat He was, and all that He had was given to Israel as His covenant people in\nthe earth.\u00a0 They were to be His personal representative.\u00a0 They were\nto show the rest of the world the path to redemption from the curse that came\nupon the entire human race when Adam and Eve subjected themselves -- and their\ndescendants -- to the bondage of Satan.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

With that\nposition as God's covenant people came immeasurable blessing -- almost\nincalculable blessing!\u00a0 With that position came God's power and authority\nin the earth.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

With it\ncame agape-kheseed<\/span><\/i><\/b>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

With it\ncame the promise that <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\"All\npeople of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name<\/span> <\/span>(shem\/onoma --\npatria - lineage<\/span><\/i><\/b>) <\/span><\/span>of\nthe LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee.....And the LORD shall make thee the\nhead, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be\nbeneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which\nI command thee this day, to observe and to do them..\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Get it?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

And there\nis still more to come!<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n
