OUR COVENANT, Part 10<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

My hope and plan is to wrap up this\npart of the series on Covenant today.\u00a0\n<\/span>We\u2019re into this subject now for two and a half months, and we still have\na long ways to go!\u00a0 <\/span>My objective is to\nnow begin sharing on the Covenant that our founding fathers made with the Lord\nfor the establishing of America as a land \u2013 a country \u2013 dedicated to the\npropagation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

It is a subject which has long been\nleft out of our public education.\u00a0 <\/span>When I\nwas in public school back in the late \u201840\u2019s and early \u201850\u2019s, the foundation of\nour country was mandatory education.\u00a0 <\/span>We\nhad to know what those pioneers did, what they stood for, what they were\npersecuted for, and what they refused to give in to in the way of opposition.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

That persecution and opposition has\ngiven way in this age to so-called \u201cpolitical correctness,\u201d and I prefer to\ncall it cowardliness \u2013 never mind the fact that some people \u2013 a minority, to be\nsure \u2013 absolutely do not want to hear anything about the Lord Jesus Christ, or\nthe principles of walking with the Lord.\u00a0\n<\/span>And that has nothing whatever to do with what church or denomination or\nreligious group one belongs to.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Anyway, let\u2019s finish up our\ndiscussion on the Covenant we have with Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\nThere's\nNOTHING like fresh revelation from the Holy Spirit!\u00a0 The Word simply comes\nalive in you.\u00a0 It's almost like the Lord is breathing into you His life in\nthat moment.\u00a0 The Word leaps to life as you begin to make connections\nbetween passages in Word you've never considered in that light before.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Before I\nshare with you some fresh revelation the Lord gave to Della not long ago,\nbetter get that cup of coffee poured first.\u00a0 OK, tea for some of\nyou!\u00a0 Think there's some of those maple bar \"vitamins\" over on\nthe table, too.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Today\nbeing what we generally refer to as \"Good Friday,\" I thought it would\nbe appropriate to share something that is germane to that which we celebrate:\nthe death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ -- especially since this is\nsomething that the Lord just dumped into Della.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let me\nstart at the beginning.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I'm sure\nthis problem isn't limited to just a few women in the body of Christ, and Della\ncertainly hasn't been the exception.\u00a0 There is a common misconception\namong Christians -- and it sure isn't limited to Christians -- that women are\n\"the weaker vessel.\"\u00a0 That misconception is predicated on a\nphrase that occurs in our English translations of I Peter 3:7 which reads (in\nKJV), <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\"Likewise,\nye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour<\/span>\nunto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the\ngrace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This is\nthe ONLY place in Scripture where this phrase occurs, and yet folks read this\nand contrive all kinds of screwy doctrines out of this one verse.\u00a0 When\nyou read this verse in the Greek text, it actually renders out like this,\n\"giving honor and esteem unto [your] wife, treating her as if she were the\nweaker vessel...\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Understand?\u00a0\nThis phraseology is important because it doesn't refer to the wife as being\n\"the weaker vessel.\"\u00a0 Peter's instruction was for husbands to\nhonor their wives and give place to them, deferring to them as if they were\nweaker<\/u>, when in fact they are not.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Put this\nin the context of what Paul writes to the Ekklesia<\/span> in\nGalatia: <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Galatians\n3:28-29<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0\n<\/span>\"For there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond\nnor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ\nJesus.\u00a0 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed according to the\npromise.\"<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

So what\ndoes this have to do with anything?\u00a0 Simple.\u00a0 The body of Christ has\nbeen permeated with this idea that women are of lesser value spiritually; that\nthey are of lesser value in a natural sense, that they are weaker mentally, and\nthat they lack power and authority.\u00a0 No joke!\u00a0 This mindset exists\nalmost universally.\u00a0 If Christians actually understood the covenant\nenacted by Jesus on the Cross, they'd realize that women were redeemed from\nthat lesser place.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Part of\nthe universal mindset stems from the fact that it was Eve who first partook of\nthe fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.\u00a0 It was Eve who\nfirst responded to the \"hath God said?\" doubt, unbelief and\nquestioning of the Serpent.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

If women\nwere so weak in God's eyes, why then did He make a point of emphasizing the\nlives of people like Sarah, like Rebekah<\/span>, like Tamar,\nRuth, Rahab<\/span>, Esther?\u00a0 I've just picked a few\nnames at random.\u00a0 The fact is that women have NEVER been the \"weaker\nvessel\" in a spiritual sense.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Sure,\nwomen are created generally smaller in stature and physical size than men; and\nwhen it comes to accomplishing certain physical tasks, there simply are some\nthings that men can do better because of their physical mass and muscles.\u00a0\nThat doesn't equate to women being of lesser value.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let me\ndigress for a second.\u00a0 Della is probably roughly one-half my size, weight\nand mass, and considering that she stands 5'1\" and I stand 6'2\",\nthere is a huge difference between what I can lift or move physically and what\nDella can lift or move.\u00a0 So, in that sense, she is the weaker vessel.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

But that's\nwhere it stops!\u00a0 When it comes to character and integrity, I'd stack her\nagainst any man or woman on the face of the earth.\u00a0 When it comes to spiritual\nsensitivity and hearing the Lord, she's the match of any man or woman who has\nwalked with the Lord for the bulk of their lives.\u00a0 When it comes to gifts\nand talents, she falls behind no one.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The fact\nis, there are many areas in which Della is stronger and better-equipped than\nme.\u00a0 What differentiates us -- apart from the fact that she's a woman and\nI'm a man -- is the fact that our gifts and talents differ from each\nother.\u00a0 We complement each other.\u00a0 What I lack, she has.\u00a0 What\nshe lacks, I have.\u00a0 Together, we make up one whole person.\u00a0 Minus\nDella, I'm a sunk duck!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Here's\nwhere the rub comes in.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Because of\nthe contaminated doctrine in the body of Christ concerning women and their\nplace, Della has often refrained from sharing critical truths or input from the\nHoly Spirit because of the lies of the Enemy that tell her to keep quiet.\u00a0\nAfter all, she's a woman!\u00a0 It was Eve who first fell prey to Satan's\nwiles.\u00a0 That means women are more susceptible to deception.\u00a0 If\nthat's true, then she needs to not say anything lest she lead me (or someone\nelse) astray in error.<\/i><\/b>\u00a0 <\/span>I have\none thing to say about that:\u00a0 <\/span>Bahhh<\/span>, Humbug!!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

You've got\nthe picture, I'm sure.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

This has\nbeen -- until recently -- a lifetime battle with Della.\u00a0 Fact is, I\nbelieve this has been a lifetime battle with many Christian women who have the\ngenuine goods and refrain from sharing because of the accusations of the Enemy.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We've\ntalked at length about the meaning and significance of covenant, and I don't\nwant to cover that ground again, but it is important to look at a couple of\naspects as they relate to today's discussion and the celebration of Christ's\ndeath and resurrection.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It was a\ntree (or rather the fruit thereof) -- the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and\nEvil -- the eating of which brought death and destruction to the human\nrace.\u00a0 It was the eating from that tree that took women from their\nco-equal status with men to a subservient role.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Consider\nwhat John the Baptist said of Jesus when he baptized Jesus in the Jordan River,\n<\/span>\"And now also the ax is laid to the root of the\ntree..\"<\/span> <\/span>(The\nword is singular in the Greek text, not plural. The translators made it plural\nbecause of the statement that followed.) (see Matthew 3:10)\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span>To what tree was Jesus laying the axe?\u00a0\nWhy would John make such a statement?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

It was the\nTree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil that brought death, destruction,\nsickness and poverty to the human race.\u00a0 Jesus came to put an end to that\ntree.\u00a0 And how did He do it?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Remember\nall of our discussions on Covenant?\u00a0 You remember the covenant that God\nmade with Abraham?\u00a0 How He made a covenant of blood between the broken\nbodies of those animals?\u00a0 How that covenant provided Abraham with the\npromise of seed and generations that would have the curse (of the Tree of\nKnowledge) broken in their lives, and how they would be blessed, and how all\nthose who blessed Abraham's seed would in turn be blessed?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Got the\npicture refreshed in your mind?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Good.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Jesus\nfirst laid the axe to the root of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil by\nonce again providing the previously lost communication and union with the Lord\nGod through the dimension of worship.\u00a0 What was it that Jesus said?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

John\n4:24<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/i><\/b><\/span>\"God is a\nSpirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in\ntruth.\"<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Because\ndeath was the result of eating of that tree, Jesus had to die on that\ntree.\u00a0 That's exactly what happened when He went to the Cross.\u00a0 He\ntook the knowledge of good and evil and all that it brought to the human race\nwith Himself to the Cross and put it to death.\u00a0 Then He exercised the\nauthority that had always been His over death, and -- as He had promised --\nrose from the dead on the third day, thus providing new life and permanent\nredemption from the curses for all those who would receive His covenant and\nwalk in it.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Some time\nago, Della was listening to Kenneth Copeland share on agape<\/span><\/i><\/b>\nlove when the Holy Spirit showed her Jesus, hanging on the Cross.\u00a0 She saw\nthe spear thrust into His side and watched as the blood and water poured\nforth.\u00a0 Then came the revelation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The spear\nentered Jesus' side right where the rib had been removed from Adam from which\nEve was created.\u00a0 Here's what is fascinating about this revelation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

The Hebrew\nword to describe \"rib\" is<\/span> <\/span>\u00f2\u00ec\u00f6 <\/span><\/b>tsela<\/span><\/b><\/span>'.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\n<\/span>This\nis a word which describes \"a rib, a supporting member; a beam -- as in a timber\nor plank which keeps a building structurally sound.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Eve was\nnot created as the lesser person: she was created to be his strength, his\nsupport, that which made him \"structurally sound.\"\u00a0 Thus, Adam\nand Eve were co-equal.\u00a0 Genesis 5:2 tells us that <\/span>\"[He]\nblessed them, and called their<\/u> name, Adam<\/span>.\"<\/span>\u00a0 Adam,\ntherefore, without Eve could not be Adam.\u00a0 Eve<\/span>\nwithout Adam could not be Adam.\u00a0 They were One!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

You\nremember that a part of the curse that came upon women had to do with\nchildbearing: pain!<\/b>\u00a0 So what happens during childbirth?\u00a0 Blood\nand water come forth.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

What\nhappened when the spear was thrust into Jesus' side at the same place where Eve\nwas taken out of Adam's side?\u00a0 Blood and water poured forth.\u00a0 There\nare several significant things represented by that event.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

(1)<\/span><\/b> <\/span>A\nbirth was taking place: the birth of the long-awaited Bride of Christ.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

(2)<\/span><\/b> <\/span>Redemption\nfrom the curse that hit women as it pertained to childbearing took place,\nfreeing all those women who would receive that redemption from pain in\nchildbearing.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

(3)<\/span><\/b> <\/span>Wives\nwere redeemed from their lesser status and returned to the place of being the\n\"structural support\" and co-equals of their husbands.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

There are,\nno doubt, more revelations to come of all that took place, but these are the\npictures that the Lord gave to Della.\u00a0 Once she realized that she was\nredeemed from that curse, the accusations of the Enemy that her sharing and\nspiritual input was of little or no value began to fall on deaf ears.\u00a0 She\nwas free to be who she was in Christ Jesus!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

I have,\nfor many years, encouraged Della to be free to share all that she hears in her\nspirit; and in fact, told her that because she is my counterpart and other self,\nI desperately need her sharing and input.\u00a0 It is critical to both of us.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Ladies,\nare you hearing this?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Men, are\nyou hearing this?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Good!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

That said,\nas we celebrate Jesus' death and resurrection during these next few days,\nladies, I trust you will have a fresh revelation of who you are, and the\nliberties you have in Christ Jesus.\u00a0 Husbands, I trust you will have a\nfresh revelation of just how important the Lord has made your wife, your\ncounterpart, your other self in your growth and walk with the Lord.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

We live\nunder a new and better covenant; and that covenant -- made on the Cross with\nJesus' shed blood and broken body -- redeems us from every curse that ever came\nupon mankind with the eating of the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good\nand Evil.\u00a0 So long as we resist the temptation to eat of the very enticing\nknowledge of good and evil, and partake of the Tree of Life in Christ Jesus, we\nhave available to us a covenant that knows no bounds!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Christianity is simply nothing more and\nnothing less than God and His family being manifested in the earth.<\/span><\/i><\/b>
\n<\/span><\/i>
