font-family: 'Book Antiqua',serif; color: #984806\">\n\t\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\t<p><b>\n\t<span style=\"font-size: 13.0pt; font-family: 'Book Antiqua',serif; color: #984806\">\n\tOnce again, Good Morning!<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\t<p><b>\n\t<span style=\"font-size: 13.0pt; font-family: 'Book Antiqua',serif; color: #984806\">\n\tLet\u2019s pick up today where we left off last week.\u00a0 Some folks have \n\twondered why, when I deal almost exclusively with spiritual issues and what \n\tHoly Spirit is saying to His people today, that I would seem to deviate from \n\tthat to talk about the foundations of our government.\u00a0 Unfortunately, \n\tour society today has attempted to separate matters of government from \n\tspiritual issues, and especially Christianity.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\t<p><b>\n\t<span style=\"font-size: 13.0pt; font-family: 'Book Antiqua',serif; color: #984806\">\n\tWe left off last week talking about Jesus\u2019 command to Occupy.\u00a0 THAT \n\tmeans we MUST be involved in the affairs of government.\u00a0 When I ran for \n\tCongress in 2004, people asked me why I would want to associate myself with \n\tsuch a corrupt institution.\u00a0 My answer then, was the same as it would \n\tbe today.\u00a0 <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\t<p><b>\n\t<span style=\"font-size: 13.0pt; font-family: 'Book Antiqua',serif; color: #984806\">\n\tIf more and more believers in Jesus Christ \u2013 committed Christians, if you \n\twill \u2013 would get involved in our political institutions, we could \n\trevolutionize the Congress and the government overall of the United States.\u00a0 \n\tMaybe it won\u2019t happen overnight, but we can make radical change in the \n\tdirection.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\t<p><b>\n\t<span style=\"font-size: 13.0pt; font-family: 'Book Antiqua',serif; color: #984806\">\n\tThink about the change that has already come when God appointed Donald Trump \n\tto clean up the swamp in DC.\u00a0 He isn\u2019t personally popular because of \n\this actions, but he never planned on running a popularity contest.\u00a0 \n\tWhen one brings radical change to government, it follows logically that \n\tpeople who\u2019ve been entrenched in the system will fight with every ounce of \n\ttheir existence in order to keep the status quo.\u00a0 God\u2019s people \n\tabsolutely CANNOT put up with the status quo.\u00a0 If we are to follow \n\tJesus\u2019 command, we must be involved, and we must bring righteous change!<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\t<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">\n\tTaken to their logical extension, it is impossible to separate matters of \n\tgovernment from what Jesus commanded.\u00a0 Jesus wasn't simply instructing \n\tHis followers to engage in trade with one another, He was instructing them \n\tto literally become the governing force in society, to be the bankers, the \n\tbusinessmen (and women), those who established the rules of society, those \n\twho established the rules by which society could function and engage in \n\tcommerce.<\/span><\/p>\n\t<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">\n\tOCCUPY!<\/span><\/p>\n\t<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">\n\tJesus' instruction to <\/span>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Bernard MT Condensed\",\"serif\";\ncolor:#C00000\">\"Render therefore unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's\"\n\t<\/span>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">\n\twas a clear command to observe the rules of the government in power, and His \n\tsubsequent statement, <\/span>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Bernard MT Condensed\",\"serif\";\ncolor:#C00000\">\"and to God the things that are God's,\"<\/span><span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\";color:#C00000\">\n\t<\/span>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">\n\tspelled out the necessity of exercising the will of God in the affairs of \n\tmen.\u00a0 (see Matthew 22:21)<\/span><\/p>\n\t<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">\n\tOne thing that comes through very clearly throughout the Word is the fact \n\tthat God works through men and women.\u00a0 He doesn't employ His will in \n\tthe affairs of men in a vacuum.\u00a0 He utilizes those who are sensitive to \n\tHis will, His voice, and His desires, establishing His purposes in the \n\taffairs of men.<\/span><\/p>\n\t<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">\n\tThe apostle Paul put it like this, <\/span>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\n\"Bernard MT Condensed\",\"serif\";color:#C00000\">\"I exhort \n\ttherefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and \n\tgiving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in \n\tauthority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and \n\thonesty.\u00a0 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our\n\t<span class=\"SpellE\">Saviour<\/span>; Who will have all men to be saved, and \n\tto come unto the knowledge of the truth.\"<\/span><span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\";\ncolor:#C00000\">\u00a0 <\/span>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">\n\t(II Timothy 2:1-4)<\/span><\/p>\n\t<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">\n\tPaul made it abundantly clear, therefore, that the principal purpose of the \n\tLord is His desire to <\/span>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Bernard MT Condensed\",\"serif\";\ncolor:#C00000\">\"have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the \n\ttruth.\"\u00a0 <\/span>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\n\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">Paul writes that our first \n\tresponsibility is to offer prayer and intercession for all men, and \n\tspecifically he notes, <\/span>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Bernard MT Condensed\",\"serif\";color:#C00000\">\n\t\"for kings, and for all that are in authority.\"<\/span><\/p>\n\t<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">\n\tWhy?\u00a0 It follows that if you have the responsibility to pray for kings, \n\tand all that are in authority, you have the responsibility to fulfill \"<span class=\"SpellE\">thy<\/span> \n\twill be done in earth, as it is in heaven.\"\u00a0 That responsibility gets \n\tfulfilled first of all in the realm of prayer and exercising Kingdom \n\tdominion over \"all that are in authority\"; and subsequently, \"occupying,\" \n\tdoing business in the natural realm, employing Kingdom economics and \n\tgovernment in the affairs of men.<\/span><\/p>\n\t<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">\n\tPeople who cowardly sit back and think it is somehow \"spiritual\" to be \n\tremoved from the political affairs of men buy Satan's lie.\u00a0 Do you \n\thonestly think Satan wants us involved in politics?\u00a0 Not on your life!\u00a0 \n\tAnd it is the lie of the Enemy which has created the \"dirty politics\" we see \n\tin the world today.\u00a0 It is specifically BECAUSE Christians have stayed \n\tso uninvolved that we have courts in our land inventing law out of whole \n\tcloth in order to block the Ten Commandments in public places, blocking the \n\tadministrators of schools and educational systems from using the name of \n\tJesus Christ or praying to the Lord God in schools or in public places.<\/span><\/p>\n\t<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">\n\tIf the FDR Supreme Court had actually paid attention to the context of \n\tThomas Jefferson's statement to the Danbury Baptist Association, and just \n\thow Jefferson actually applied what he said when he served this nation in \n\this various legislative functions and as President of the United States, \n\tthey'd have NEVER ruled that the \"establishment clause\" in the First \n\tAmendment to the Constitution meant that folks in government couldn't \n\texercise their freedom of worship.\u00a0 That ruling absolutely violated \n\teverything this nation was founded upon.<\/span><\/p>\n\t<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">\n\t(We\u2019ll discuss Thomas Jefferson more in the weeks to come and talk about his \n\tconclusions of who Jesus Christ was and is.\u00a0 We\u2019ll talk about the \n\tso-called \u201cJefferson Bible\u201d and its significance as our nation developed.)<\/span><\/p>\n\t<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">\n\tIt was in 1629 that Massachusetts Bay Company (in London) chose John \n\tWinthrop as the first governor of Massachusetts Bay Colony.\u00a0 In 1630, \n\tWinthrop arrived from England with 700 Puritan settlers and colonists and a \n\tpurpose to establish a governing body that set Jesus Christ as first and \n\tforemost authority in the land.\u00a0 John Winthrop's convictions made him \n\tunique as a leader.<\/span><\/p>\n\t<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">\n\tHe believed -- as did most Puritans -- that God's covenant promises in the \n\tOld Testament did not just apply to ancient Israel, but to every society and \n\tevery generation. These promises are well summarized in Exodus 19:5-6:\n\t<\/span>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Bernard MT Condensed\",\"serif\";color:#C00000\">\n\t\"Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you \n\twill be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, you will \n\tbe for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.\"<\/span><\/p>\n\t<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">\n\tThey believed that if any nation observed God's laws and commands, God would \n\tgive protection, prosperity, and the spiritual blessings of knowing him and \n\tliving as his people. On the other hand, if a people rejected God's decrees \n\tand turned to idolatry and sin, God would eventually reject them. The \n\tPuritans of seventeenth-century England were greatly concerned about the \n\tfuture of their nation; they saw the corruption of government and church \n\tofficials, growing immorality, materialism, and lack of concern for the poor \n\tas signs that their nation would either have to repent or experience the \n\tcleansing fire of God's wrath.<\/span><\/p>\n\t<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">\n\tA piece in Encarta states, <\/span><i>\n\t<span style=\"font-size: 13.0pt; font-family: Georgia,serif; color: #984806\">\n\t\"the Puritans' ideas about the relationship between church and state are \n\tfundamentally different from that of modern-day Americans. In America, the \n\tgovernment cannot pass laws to encourage people to worship God or practice \n\tthe tenets of Christianity because our society contains a large number of \n\tnon-Christians. But the situation of the Puritans was quite different.\n\t<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\t<p><i>\n\t<span style=\"font-size: 13.0pt; font-family: Georgia,serif; color: #984806\">\n\tThey had the unique opportunity to charter a new society. They came together \n\tas people of like mind and faith to create a new nation to honor God and to \n\tpass their Christian values to their children. They believed that church and \n\tgovernment should work together to promote holiness and help people to \n\tsucceed both materially and spiritually. Later generations of Puritans \n\tcarried the name, but not the fiery faith and devotion, of their ancestors.\"<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\t<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">\n\tThe article in Encarta, of course, is in error when it states that in \n\tAmerica, the government cannot pass laws to encourage people to worship God \n\tor practice the tenets of Christianity.\u00a0 That statement is based on the \n\tmisapplication of Thomas Jefferson\u2019s \u201cseparation of church and state.\u201d\u00a0 \n\tJefferson did not intend to separate Christianity from America; rather his \n\tintention was to keep the government from supporting a certain\n\t<span class=\"SpellE\">sect or<\/span> denomination and mandating that the \n\tnation follow that denomination.<\/span><\/p>\n\t<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">\n\tDr. Joseph Schafer at Penn State University writes, <\/span>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;\nfont-family:\"Americana XBdCn BT\",\"serif\";color:green\">\"In \n\tseventeenth-century England there was no such thing as freedom of religion. \n\tThere was only the Church of England. Sincere Christians had only two \n\tchoices: either work to reform the Church from within or break off from the \n\tChurch and repudiate its authority. <\/span><\/p>\n\t<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Americana XBdCn BT\",\"serif\";\ncolor:green\">Those who wanted to break from the Church were called Separatists. \n\tThe Puritans were not Separatists. They believed that breaking off was a \n\tvery serious matter and should only be considered as a last resort. They did \n\tnot want to be disloyal to the Crown or show disrespect for the authorities \n\tthat God had allowed to come to power<\/span><\/p>\n\t<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Americana XBdCn BT\",\"serif\";\ncolor:green\">\"But as the Church grew more politicized and hostile to Puritan \n\tideas, it became clear to John that there was little or nothing he could do \n\tto reform the Church from within. He did not want to start a war that he \n\tcould never win. Also, his son Henry became somewhat rebellious, and John \n\tbegan to worry that he might lose his children to the godless popular \n\tculture. <\/span><\/p>\n\t<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Americana XBdCn BT\",\"serif\";\ncolor:green\">At the age of forty-two, after a painful struggle, John decided \n\tthat the only real choice was for him to take his family and move away from \n\tEngland. Rather than fighting political battles with the authorities, he \n\twould quietly move away to a new land where he could worship God freely and \n\traise his children in an environment of faith.\"<\/span><\/p>\n\t<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Americana XBdCn BT\",\"serif\";\ncolor:green\">\"As Winthrop prepared to move his family to this new \"environment \n\tof faith,\" he wrote an essay that laid out the main reasons why sincere \n\tChristians should consider moving to the New World.<\/span><\/p>\n\t<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">\n\tThe first four reasons were: <\/span><\/p>\n\t<p><b>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\";\ncolor:#C00000\">1.<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\";\ncolor:#C00000\"> <\/span>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">\n\tTo carry the gospel to the New World, to bring the fullness of the Gentiles \n\tinto the kingdom of God. <\/span><\/p>\n\t<p><b>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\";\ncolor:#C00000\">2.<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\";\ncolor:#C00000\"> <\/span>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">\n\tTo escape God's judgment that was coming upon the corrupt churches of \n\tEurope. <\/span><\/p>\n\t<p><b>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\";\ncolor:#C00000\">3.<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\";\ncolor:#C00000\"> <\/span>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">\n\tTo help solve the problems of overpopulation and poverty in England, where \n\thuman life was being devalued and people were regarded as less valuable than \n\thorses and sheep. <\/span><\/p>\n\t<p><b>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\";\ncolor:#C00000\">4.<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\";\ncolor:#C00000\"> <\/span>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">\n\tTo obey the Great Commission and Genesis 1:28, which says, <\/span>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Bernard MT Condensed\",\"serif\";color:#C00000\">\n\t\"Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.\"<\/span><\/p>\n\t<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:13.0pt;font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",\"serif\"\">\n\tAboard the ship that carried them to America, he wrote in part, <\/span><b>\n\t<span style=\"font-size: 13.0pt; font-family: Gourmand,serif; color: #365F91\">\n\t\"<i>The eyes of all people are upon us, so that if we shall deal falsely \n\twith our God in this work we have undertaken, and so cause him to withdraw \n\this present help from us, we shall be made a story and byword throughout the \n\tworld;
