We wrapped up last week\nquoting from the apostle Paul where he instructs prayers and intercession on\nbehalf of our leaders and representatives in government.\u00a0 <\/span>Let\u2019s pick up where we left off.\u00a0 <\/span>We are taking a short break in our narrative\non the founding documents for the colonies.<\/a><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

Paul laid\nout very clearly what kind of government God purposes for a praying people. The\nverse I just quoted is a small portion of what Paul had to say on the topic.
\n
\nI Timothy 2:1-4 reads: <\/span>\u201cI exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers,\nintercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for\nall that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all\ngodliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our\nSaviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of\nthe truth.\u201d<\/span>
\n
\nLet\u2019s take a second look at what he writes. What is the purpose of good\ngovernment \u2013 government ordered and anointed by God for those people who\nfulfill their first responsibility to pray for their leadership?
\n
\n<\/span>\u201c\u2026.that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness\nand honesty.\u201d<\/span>
\n
\nThe first and most important purpose for all government is that it provides the\nenvironment in which folks can lead a quiet and peaceable life. But it doesn\u2019t\nstop there. That quiet and peaceable life comes in all godliness and\nhonesty.\u00a0 And that is exactly what those colonists and settlers gave their\nlives for -- a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
\n
\nGodliness? Honesty?
\n
\nBrother, has our government ever gotten off course! There isn\u2019t anything honest\nabout it. Godliness? In your dreams, maybe!
\n
\nEver thought about why this is so?
\n
\nTo be honest, it has nothing to do with whether Democrats or Republicans are in\ncontrol. I guess there was a day when Republicans were actually the party of\nsmall, limited government with minimum intrusion into the lives of people.\nDoesn\u2019t really look that way anymore, does it?
\n
\nPolitical parties have lots of rhetoric, and politicians promise the moon in\norder to be elected, but once they are in office, it seems that there promises\naren\u2019t worth the air they breathed when they verbalized them. We used to have\ntwo fundamental philosophies that governed our political parties: conservatism\nand liberalism. Now, it\u2019s kind of hard to tell who is what and where folks\nreally stand.
\n
\nConservatism is supposed to be pragmatic. It is supposed to represent fiscal\nand social discipline.
\n
\nLiberalism used to stand for ensuring that government looked out for folks so\nthat government didn\u2019t become so tight-fisted and regulatory that people\ncouldn\u2019t breathe.\u00a0 <\/span>Anymore, \u201cliberalism\u201d\ngets labeled as \u201cprogressive,\u201d when in fact it is regressive.
\n
\nLordy! Now we\u2019ve got conservative Democrats and liberal Republicans: DINO\u2019s and\nRINO\u2019s.
\n
\nWhat\u2019s happened is that socialism and humanism have taken over. Socialism is\nsupposed to be now what the Democrats stand for. We\u2019ll talk about that in a\nminute.
\n
\nThe liberalism of today in no way represents the liberalism of 50 years ago.\nThe conservatism of today in no way represents the conservatism of 50 years\nago. Or maybe I should re-phrase that.
\n
\nCalling one\u2019s self a Republican today is no sign they are actually\nconservative. Calling one\u2019s self a Democrat today is almost the same as taking\na badge that says you hate America and everything it used to stand for. Or so\nmore than 60 percent of Americans seem to believe.
\n
\nLet\u2019s see if we can get down to some real understanding of what\u2019s behind all of\nthis.
\n
\nThe liberal, socialist agenda of today is driven by a mindset, a spirit, if you\nwill, of hatred for God -- and specifically, hatred of the Lord Jesus Christ.\nWhatever promotes a relationship with the Lord, whatever encourages righteousness,\nwholesomeness, clean living, honesty and integrity, is opposed tooth and nail.\nAnything that is representative of Jesus Christ is hated with a vicious, purple\npassion.
\n
\nThink about socialism for a moment. What is the fundamental purpose of socialism?\u00a0 <\/span>To make \"government\" the arbiter of\nall things. If government is in control of our lives, we then become subject to\nhumanistic endeavors and objectives.
\n
\nSecular humanism is at the core of today\u2019s socialism. \u00a0<\/span>Secular humanism, by the way is a religion. \u00a0<\/span>Secular humanism basically says, \"Man is\nthe final arbiter of himself.\" \u00a0<\/span>\"Man is god.\" \u00a0<\/span>Secular humanism denies (or attempts to deny)\nGod's existence, His purpose for the human race, and the redemptive work of\nJesus Christ on the Cross. \u00a0<\/span>Secular humanism\nis rooted in the three principal families of fear: (1)\n<\/span><\/b><\/span>The Fear of Evil;<\/span><\/a> (2)<\/span><\/b> <\/span><\/span>The\nFear of Man;<\/span><\/a>\nand (3)<\/span><\/b> <\/span><\/span>The\nFear of Death<\/span><\/a>.
\n
\nHumanism plays upon people's fears. It gets its governance in society by\ncreating a multitude of \"what if?\" scenarios. People react to those\nscenarios in fear, and Humanism has accomplished its ends. Socialism steps into\nthat reactive place and says, \"I have the answer for you. Let me create a\ngovernment program to solve it.\"
\n
\nThe end of this cycle is that government becomes bigger and bigger, and our\nfreedoms become fewer and fewer as they are continually eroded. Naturally, with\nsecular humanism at the core of socialism, it encourages mankind to satiate its\nown lusts on itself.
\n
\n\"Political correctness,\" therefore, is a sanitized way of saying,\n\"every man to himself. \u00a0<\/span>Whatever you\nwant to do is fine. If it feels good, do it! \u00a0<\/span>You have the 'right' to whatever you want or\nneed.\"
\n
\nPolitical correctness is the enemy of Truth. \u00a0<\/span>Truth becomes the prisoner of every\nindividual, splinter group or \"minority\" seeking to assert its\n\"rights.\"
\n
\nBecause Jesus made claims that no other individual in history has ever been\nable to duplicate, He has become the target of every fanatical religion and\nreligious leader since. \u00a0<\/span>(By the way,\nyou\u2019ve heard me say this before, but true Christianity is NOT a religion. \u00a0<\/span>There is nothing about Christianity that is\nreligious. \u00a0<\/span>True Christianity is nothing\nmore and nothing less than having a genuine, personal, one-on-one relationship\nwith Jesus Christ.)
\n
\nReligion \u2013 all religion(s) \u2013 can be quantified as: man\u2019s efforts to please (a)\nGod (god). Man\u2019s efforts to please God are all predicated on what he thinks he\ncan do to make God happy.
\n
\nChristianity, on the other hand, is Jesus Christ reaching out to you, and\nextending himself to redeem you from the snare of Satan. \u00a0<\/span>Christianity is living and walking with Jesus\nChrist on a day-by-day basis, following His leading, listening to His Spirit,\nallowing Him to make the changes in you that He desires. \u00a0<\/span>As previously noted, Jesus made some\nincredible claims. (1) <\/span>\u201cI Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.\u201d<\/span> <\/span><\/i><\/b>(2) <\/span><\/i>\u201cNo\nman cometh to the Father, but by me.\u201d<\/span>
\n
\nJesus\u2019 statements fly in the face of every religion. \u00a0<\/span>It is the reason why the current myth of\n\u201cseparation of church and state\u201d has become the overriding agenda of the\nsocialist left. \u00a0<\/span>One cannot be a\nChristian having an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ and be a\nsocialist.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span>I\u2019ll come back to this\nin a second.
\n
\nNo religion makes a claim like Jesus made. \u00a0<\/span>Religions \u2013 all of them \u2013 suggest that there\nare many ways to God, and many ways to please Him. Jesus refutes that with His\nclaim, and it is a claim that is either true or not. If it is true (and IT IS),\nthen all religions are false because they contrive a multitude of ideas and\nways to please God (gods) and establish rules that are essentially impossible\nto live up to. If Jesus\u2019 claims are not true, then everything He said is a lie,\nand is predicated on a lie. There is no middle ground.
\n
\nSo-called \u201cChristian\u201d religions add men\u2019s ideas, rules and regulations to the\nGospel, and well-meaning people get sucked into a performance-based life. \u00a0<\/span>There is nothing about our relationship with\nJesus Christ that is performance-based. \u00a0<\/span>It\nis, and always has been, designed to be love-based.
\n
\nChristianity differs from religion because change is not imposed by external\nrules and regulations. \u00a0<\/span>Change comes from\nwithin. \u00a0<\/span>Change comes because of the\nworking of the Holy Spirit within the person.
\n
\nCertainly, one must be obedient to the will and heart\u2019s desire of God, the\nFather, and the Lord Jesus Christ, but that obedience is not imposed by a law:\nit is given willingly because of love.
\n
\nSocialism seeks to equalize society by force. \u00a0<\/span>It has a \u201cRobin Hood\u201d mentality. \u00a0<\/span>Take from those who have prospered and done\nwell \u2013 by force, of course \u2013 and give what you take to those who do not fare\nwell. \u00a0<\/span>We have a nice, sanitary term by\nwhich we refer to this process. \u00a0<\/span>We call\nit \u201ctaxes.\u201d \u00a0<\/span>Others more accurately refer\nto it as \u201cwealth redistribution.\u201d
\n
\nEither way, the plan and methodologies are farcical.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span>Jesus was not a socialist. \u00a0<\/span>He NEVER sought to take from one class of\npeople by force and redistribute to another class.
\n
\nWhen Jesus began His ministry, He laid it out as clearly and distinctly as\nanyone could want. Here\u2019s what He said:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Luke\n4:18-19<\/span><\/u><\/b>: <\/span><\/span>\u201cThe Spirit of the Lord is upon\nme, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent\nme to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and\nrecovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To\npreach the acceptable year of the Lord.\u201d<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>Break\nthat statement down into its component parts.
\n
\n<\/span><\/span>\u201cThe Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He hath anointed me\nto preach the gospel <\/span>(euangelion\n\u2013 good news)<\/span><\/i><\/b> to the poor\u2026.\u201d<\/span>
\n
\nTell me something. \u00a0<\/span>What is \u201cgood news\u201d\nto the poor? If your answer is, \u2018to free them from poverty,\u2019 you\u2019ve got it! \u00a0<\/span>There\u2019s a catch here, though. \u00a0<\/span>The \u201cgood news\u201d was not some social program;\nit was an anointing for prosperity.
\n
\nNow, I know that the church world has gotten really hung up on the idea that it\nis blessed and righteous to live in poverty, but that\u2019s a lie from the\npit!\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span>The Lord outlined a specific\nplan for people to live prosperously, but most folks \u2013 at least if you listen\nto today\u2019s socialists and humanists \u2013 prefer their poverty mindset so they can\nget free handouts.
\n
\nPeople who are in love with a religion instead of the Lord Jesus Christ (and\nparticularly, people who are in love with the ideas of humanism) can easily get\nsucked in by the \u201cfeel good\u201d doctrines of the Left.
\n
\nHumanism is a \u201cfeel good\u201d religion. \u00a0<\/span>People\ncan do good deeds, they can get involved in social programs, and they can be\neasily convinced of the need to spend on \u201cthe poor,\u201d the downtrodden, the\nhomeless, the underprivileged, etc., etc., etc. \u00a0<\/span>Doing these things makes them feel good. \u00a0<\/span>They become justified in their\nself-righteousness.
\n
\nDon\u2019t get me wrong! \u00a0<\/span>There isn\u2019t anything\nwrong with doing these things. \u00a0<\/span>The\nproblem comes with the deception that this is the responsibility of government.\n\u00a0<\/span>This is where Socialism marries Secular\nHumanism. \u00a0<\/span>The two of them become \u201cone\nflesh\u201d in the worst sense of the word.
\n
\nBecause Secular Humanism is a religion, and religions impose laws, duties and\nperformance requirements on people, Socialism likewise imposes \u2013 or attempts to\nimpose \u2013 its performance requirements on all of the people all of the time! \u00a0<\/span>Socialism is nothing but Secular Humanism run\namuck. \u00a0<\/span>By this means, therefore,\ngovernment becomes the tool of a religion: Secular Humanism.
\n
\nLet me explain.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span>Jesus provided an\nanointing from the Holy Spirit for folks to be free from the curse of poverty \u2013\nand let there be no misunderstanding of what I\u2019m saying: poverty is a curse!
\n
\nI've said this before, and I'll say it again.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span>Government has no anointing to solve poverty. \u00a0<\/span>The clear evidence of that is that the more\nmoney government throws at the problem, the worse it gets. \u00a0<\/span>Poverty isn\u2019t solved by throwing money at\npeople and problems: it is solved by providing people with the means \u2013 and the\nspiritual laws \u2013 by which they can live in the abundance that God makes\navailable.
\n
\nGovernment \u2013 when it becomes the tool of socialists, secular humanists, and\nliberal socialism \u2013 only serves to extend the curse of poverty and subjugate\npeople under an iron fist that seeks to control their thoughts, their actions,\ntheir behavior, their every waking moment with some kind of rule, some kind of\nlegislation or some kind of law.
\n
\nGovernment should do nothing but provide a fundamental framework that\nencourages business, promotes opportunities for people without being the actual\nprovider, develops an infrastructure that enables people to grow, to develop,\nto mature and to live peaceable lives.
\n
\nThis is what our forefathers envisioned when they drew up a Constitution for\nthese United States.\u00a0 The \"great\" socialism experiment of Karl\nMarx and Nicolai Lenin failed dismally.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span>George Washington, Thomas Jefferson,\nAlexander Hamilton, James Madison, Patrick Henry -- and every other person you\ncan name in our nation's early history who put all they had and all that they\nwere on the line to bring about a Constitutional Republic -- were about as far\nremoved from every concept of socialism you can think of.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In the weeks\nto come, I intend to demonstrate to you just exactly how they sought to create\na nation in which Godliness and Honesty were the prevailing modus operandi -- a\nnation in which <\/span>\"all men [could] be saved and come to the knowledge of the\nTruth.\" <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n
