There is a lot of ground to cover today, so let\u2019s get right to\nit.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\nHumanism\nplays upon people's fears. It gets its governance in society by creating a\nmultitude of \"what if?\" scenarios. People react to those scenarios in\nfear, and Humanism has accomplished its ends. Socialism steps into that\nreactive place and says, \"I have the answer for you. Let me create a\ngovernment program to solve it.\"<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

The\nend of this cycle is that government becomes bigger and bigger, and our\nfreedoms become fewer and fewer as they are continually eroded. Naturally, with\nsecular humanism at the core of socialism, it encourages mankind to satiate its\nown lusts on itself.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\"Political\ncorrectness,\" therefore, is a sanitized way of saying, \"every man to\nhimself. Whatever you want to do is fine. If it feels good, do it! You have the\n'right' to whatever you want or need.\"<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Political\ncorrectness is the enemy of Truth. Truth becomes the prisoner of every\nindividual, splinter group or \"minority\" seeking to assert its\n\"rights.\"<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Because\nJesus made claims that no other individual in history has ever been able to\nduplicate, He has become the target of every fanatical religion and religious\nleader since. (By the way, you\u2019ve heard me say this before, but true\nChristianity is NOT a religion. There is nothing about Christianity that is\nreligious. True Christianity is nothing more and nothing less than having a\ngenuine, personal, one-on-one relationship with Jesus Christ.)<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Religion\n\u2013 all religion(s) \u2013 can be quantified as: man\u2019s efforts to please (a) God\n(god). Man\u2019s efforts to please God are all predicated on what he thinks he can\ndo to make God happy.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Christianity,\non the other hand, is Jesus Christ reaching out to you, and extending himself\nto redeem you from the snare of Satan. Christianity is living and walking with\nJesus Christ on a day-by-day basis, following His leading, listening to His\nSpirit, allowing Him to make the changes in you that He desires. As previously\nnoted, Jesus made some incredible claims. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

(1) <\/span><\/u><\/b>\u201cI\nAm the Way, the Truth, and the Life.\u201d <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

(<\/span><\/i>2)\n\u201cNo man cometh to the Father, but by me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Jesus\u2019\nstatements fly in the face of every religion. It is the reason why the current\nmyth of \u201cseparation of church and state\u201d has become the overriding agenda of\nthe socialist left. One cannot be a Christian having an intimate relationship\nwith Jesus Christ, and be a socialist.\u00a0 I\u2019ll come back to this in a\nsecond.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

No\nreligion makes a claim like Jesus made. Religions \u2013 all of them \u2013 suggest that\nthere are many ways to God, and many ways to please Him. Jesus refutes that\nwith His claim, and it is a claim that is either true or not. If it is true\n(and IT IS), then all religions are false because they contrive a multitude of\nideas and ways to please God (gods), and establish rules that are essentially\nimpossible to live up to. If Jesus\u2019 claims are not true, then everything He\nsaid is a lie, and is predicated on a lie. There is no middle ground.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

So-called\n\u201cChristian\u201d religions add men\u2019s ideas, rules and regulations to the Gospel, and\nwell-meaning people get sucked into a performance-based life. There is nothing\nabout our relationship with Jesus Christ that is performance-based. It is, and\nalways has been, designed to be love-based.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Christianity\ndiffers from religion because change is not imposed by external rules and\nregulations. Change comes from within. Change comes because of the working of\nthe Holy Spirit within the person.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Certainly,\none must be obedient to the will and heart\u2019s desire of God, the Father, and the\nLord Jesus Christ, but that obedience is not imposed by a law: it is given\nwillingly because of love.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Socialism\nseeks to equalize society by force. It has a \u201cRobin Hood\u201d mentality. Take from\nthose who have prospered and done well \u2013 by force, of course \u2013 and give what\nyou take to those who do not fare well. We have a nice, sanitary term by which\nwe refer to this process. We call it \u201ctaxes.\u201d Others more accurately refer to\nit as \u201cwealth redistribution.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Either\nway, the plan and methodologies are farcical.\u00a0 Jesus was not a socialist.\nHe NEVER sought to take from one class of people by force and redistribute to\nanother class.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

When\nJesus began His ministry, He laid it out as clearly and distinctly as anyone could\nwant. Here\u2019s what He said,<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Luke 4:18-19:<\/span><\/u><\/b> <\/span><\/b>\u201cThe\nSpirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel\nto the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance\nto the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them\nthat are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Break\nthat statement down into its component parts.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

\u201cThe Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He hath anointed me\nto preach the gospel <\/span>(euangelion<\/span> \u2013 good news) <\/span><\/i>to\nthe poor\u2026.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Tell\nme something. What is \u201cgood news\u201d to the poor? If your answer is, \u2018to free them\nfrom poverty,\u2019 you\u2019ve got it! There\u2019s a catch here, though. The \u201cgood news\u201d was\nnot some social program; it was an anointing for prosperity.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Now,\nI know that the church world has gotten really hung up on the idea that it is\nblessed and righteous to live in poverty, but that\u2019s a lie from the pit!\u00a0\nThe Lord outlined a specific plan for people to live prosperously, but most\nfolks \u2013 at least if you listen to today\u2019s socialists and humanists \u2013 prefer\ntheir poverty mindset so they can get free handouts.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

People\nwho are in love with a religion instead of the Lord Jesus Christ (and\nparticularly, people who are in love with the ideas of humanism) can easily get\nsucked in by the \u201cfeel good\u201d doctrines of the Left.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Humanism\nis a \u201cfeel good\u201d religion. People can do good deeds, they can get involved in\nsocial programs, and they can be easily convinced of the need to spend on \u201cthe\npoor,\u201d the downtrodden, the homeless, the underprivileged, etc., etc., etc.\nDoing these things makes them feel good. They become justified in their\nself-righteousness.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Don\u2019t\nget me wrong! There isn\u2019t anything wrong with doing these things. The problem\ncomes with the deception that this is the responsibility of government. This is\nwhere Socialism marries Secular Humanism. The two of them become \u201cone flesh\u201d in\nthe worst sense of the word.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Because\nSecular Humanism is a religion, and religions impose laws, duties and\nperformance requirements on people, Socialism likewise imposes \u2013 or attempts to\nimpose \u2013 its performance requirements on all of the people all of the time!\nSocialism is nothing but Secular Humanism run amuck. By this means, therefore,\ngovernment becomes the tool of a religion: Secular Humanism.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Let\nme explain.\u00a0 Jesus provided an anointing from the Holy Spirit for folks to\nbe free from the curse of poverty \u2013 and let there be no misunderstanding of\nwhat I\u2019m saying: poverty is a curse!<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

I've\nsaid this before, and I'll say it again.\u00a0 Government has no anointing to\nsolve poverty. The clear evidence of that is that the more money government\nthrows at the problem, the worse it gets. Poverty isn\u2019t solved by throwing\nmoney at people and problems: it is solved by providing people with the means \u2013\nand the spiritual laws \u2013 by which they can live in the abundance that God makes\navailable.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Government\n\u2013 when it becomes the tool of socialists, secular humanists, and liberal\nsocialism \u2013 only serves to extend the curse of poverty and subjugate people\nunder an iron fist that seeks to control their thoughts, their actions, their\nbehavior, their every waking moment with some kind of rule, some kind of\nlegislation or some kind of law.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Government\nshould do nothing but provide a fundamental framework that encourages business,\npromotes opportunities for people without being the actual provider, develops\nan infrastructure that enables people to grow, to develop, to mature and to\nlive peaceable lives.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

This\nis what our forefathers envisioned when they drew up a Constitution for these\nUnited States.\u00a0 The \"great\" socialism experiment of Karl Marx\nand Nicolai Lenin failed dismally.\u00a0 George Washington, Thomas Jefferson,\nAlexander Hamilton, James Madison, Patrick Henry -- and every other person you\ncan name in our nation's early history who put all they had and all that they\nwere on the line to bring about a Constitutional Republic -- were about as far\nremoved from every concept of socialism you can think of.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

In\nthe weeks to come, I intend to demonstrate to you just exactly how they sought\nto create a nation in which Godliness and Honesty were the prevailing modus\noperandi -- a nation in which \"<\/span>all men [could] be\nsaved and come to the knowledge of the Truth.\"<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\nAs\nI have noted before, there is no real freedom outside of a personal and\nintimate relationship with Jesus Christ.\u00a0 I also stated in Wednesday's\ndiscussion that the Maryland Act somewhat went overboard in its efforts to\nenforce morality AND spirituality.\u00a0 While we certainly have the right and\npower to enforce a moral code in our laws -- and any set of laws that does not\nenforce a moral code is essentially worthless -- one cannot force people to\nhave a relationship with Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

By\nthe same measure, the Holy Spirit is a gentleman.\u00a0 He does not compel\nanyone to respond to the Lord Jesus Christ; He simply draws people in love -- agape<\/span><\/i> love.\u00a0 Laws which try to force\npeople to respond to the Lord simply do not work, and anyone who responds\nbecause they are compelled by force are simply doing so to put on a show of\ncompliance -- NOT because there is anything real in their response.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

That\nsaid, when a nation and states are founded (as John Winthrop put it) <\/b><\/span>\"for\nthe directing, ruling, and disposing of all other Matters and Things, whereby\nour said People, Inhabitants there, may be so religiously, peaceably, and\ncivilly governed, as their good Life and orderly Conversation, may win and\nincite the Natives of Country, to the Knowledge and Obedience of the only true\nGod and Savior of Mankind, and the Christian Faith, which is our Royal Intention,\nand the Adventurers free Profession, is the principal End of this\nPlantation\" <\/span><\/b>an\nenvironment is created so that people are drawn by example.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

In\nhis diary, Winthrop wrote (and I quoted this a couple weeks ago<\/span>), \"We must entertain each other in brotherly\naffection. We must be willing to give up our superfluities to supply others'\nnecessities...We must delight in each other; make others' conditions our own;\nrejoice together, mourn together, labor and suffer together... So shall we keep\nthe unity of the spirit in the bond of peace. The Lord will be our God,\nand...make us a praise and a glory, that men shall say of later plantations,\n\"May the Lord make it like that of New England.\"<\/i><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

The\nMaryland Act, despite its rather strong language and penalties, sought the same\nend.\u00a0 There was no intention of creating a state-sponsored religion:\nrather their purpose was to create an environment in which the Gospel of Jesus\nChrist would go forth freely without the strictures placed upon it that existed\nin England and European countries.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

One\nperson who read some of what I\u2019d written\u00a0\n<\/span>and called it \"a theocracy\" is inaccurate.\u00a0 Israel's\nentire existence came into being by the Word and mandate of God, and so long as\nthat nation accepted its leadership through God's appointed and ordained\nleaders, it could legitimately be referred to as a theocracy.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

This\nnation began to come together by people who desired and acknowledged that all\ngood government exists when people yield to the will and heart's desire of the\nLord Jesus Christ, but that is a far cry from a theocracy.\u00a0 America was\nfounded under republican principles as a Republic.\u00a0 Our founding fathers\nrecognized that human beings self-destruct under a truly democratic regime --\nthat democracy always results in corruption.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

They\nsought to prevent America from becoming a pure democracy by instituting\nrepublican principles, principles which -- when applied -- permitted the voice\nof the people to provide democratic input and have representation in their\ngovernment, but applied that input with certain restrictions.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Note:\nWhen I use the terms \"republican\" and \"democratic,\" I am\nmost assuredly NOT referring to the current prevailing political parties in\nAmerica.\u00a0 Rather I am referring to the principles that underlie those\nterms.\u00a0 True republican government has some real constraints in place and\nis extremely limited in its involvement in public life.\u00a0 True democratic\nprinciples -- when allowed to become the rule of the day -- corrupt the entire\nconcept of limited government.)<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Democracy\nsounds like a good thing and -- compared to dictatorial and\/or despotic\ngovernment -- is certainly more desirable to the natural mind.\u00a0\nUnfortunately, democracy and democratic rule has NEVER been the will of\nGod.\u00a0 As I noted in my earlier discussions on The Government of God, you\nhave all of the foundations of republican government in the formation of Israel\nas a God-governed state and nation once the people had crossed over the Red Sea\nand awaited God's commands at the base of Mount Sinai.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

The\nbody of Christ attempted a kind of democracy in the choice of Matthias to\nreplace the dead and departed Judas (see Acts 1:23-26).\u00a0 That God was not\nin it is clearly evidenced in the fact that you never hear of Matthias again in\nScripture; and he disappears from the pages of history never to be heard from\nagain -- something NOT true of the rest of the apostles.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

So-called\n\"congregational\" government is nothing more than democracy in the\nbody of Christ.\u00a0 It comes out of the doctrine of the Nicolaitans (as does\nalso hierarchical church government) of which the Lord Jesus Christ refers to\nwith the epithet, \"which thing I hate.\"\u00a0 (see Revelation 2:15)<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

OK.\u00a0\nI'm getting a bit off-track here with today's discussion.\u00a0 Didn't mean to\nspend that much time dealing with terminology.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

America\nwas not founded as a theocracy, but something modeled on the republican\nprinciples seen in Moses' delegation of responsibility for, and input from, the\nvarious tribes through their family leaders.\u00a0 America's foundations were\npredicated on the fact that this was going to be a nation where Jesus Christ\nwas Lord, where God was honored at every\u00a0\n<\/span>level of public life, yet where doctrines and religions were prevented\nfrom being enforced by government fiat.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

So,\nwhat's the difference?\u00a0 It's quite simple, really.\u00a0 As our founding\nfathers knew well, there is a distinct difference between Christianity and the\nreligions of the world.<\/span>\u00a0\n<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/a><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n
