Last week's sharing spent a bit more time than planned on\nWilliam Penn.\u00a0 Meant to hold down the length a little more, but I really\nwanted to finish up in one day with William Penn and his establishing of the\nPennsylvania Colony.\u00a0 Still, the history and details of Penn's faith, and\nthe lengths to which he went to incorporate a firm understanding of God's\ngovernance in our society are nothing less than amazing!<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

By\nnow, I'm sure you are beginning to get the picture.\u00a0 America's foundations\nare completely unlike any and every other nation in the world.\u00a0 No other\nnation on the face of this planet was specifically constituted for the spread\nof the Gospel of Jesus Christ.\u00a0 No other nation on earth saw its founders\ncome together in covenant to ensure that people would have the guaranteed right\nto worship the Lord, to speak out publicly on spiritual issues; and no other\nnation EVER incorporated into its constitution the right of individuals in\ngovernment to honor the Lord Jesus Christ freely and without fear of sanction.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

By\nthe same token, no other nation has ever seen the Gospel of Jesus Christ so\nincorporated into its founding documents.\u00a0 It makes America unique in the\nworld.\u00a0 It also makes us as a nation the target of every individual who\nhates God, who hates the name of Jesus Christ, and who hates the power, the\nauthority and the dominion that Christians have in a spiritual realm.\u00a0 It\nis why liberals and s<\/a>ocialists have sought to tear away\nthe spiritual fabric of our nation.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

One\ncannot be a socialist and be a Christian in the true sense of the word.\u00a0\nJesus Christ was anything but a socialist.\u00a0 By the same token, everything\nthat epitomizes and characterizes liberals today is the polar opposite of all\nthat characterizes Jesus Christ and all that He stood for.\u00a0 One cannot be\na liberal and know the heart of the Lord Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Liberals\nand socialists want this nation to become a pure Democracy, NOT a\nRepublic.\u00a0 Pure democracy always ultimately results in anarchy.\u00a0 Because,\nas we have watched with the liberal, God-hating mainstream media, the will and\nmindset of a people can be turned and twisted with lies, half-truths,\nmanipulations of facts and the deliberate creation of false impressions.\u00a0\nThe true will of the people gets contravened by distorting the truth and\ncausing people to believe a lie.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

It\nwas Hitler's Minister of Propaganda, Josef Goebbels, who said (and I'm\nparaphrasing him), \"Tell people a lie often enough and they will believe\nit to be the truth.\"<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

In\na pure democracy where people vote according to that which they believe, once\nyou've convinced them that a lie is actually the truth, you've succeeded in\naltering the course of human events and manipulating voter outcomes to suit a\nwicked agenda.\u00a0 (Witness the liberal mantra of the past few years,\n\"Trump colluded with the Russians.\"\u00a0 Or how about this one?\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cTrump bribed Ukranian<\/span>\npresident.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Despite\nthe fact that all of the evidence conclusively proves the fact that President\nTrump did not commit acts of treason, bribery, extortion (or other acts worthy\nof impeachment), polls taken today show national confusion of the President's\nhandling of the foreign diplomacy.\u00a0 Public opinion has been deliberately\naltered by the continual hammering and yammering of those who hate everything\nhe stands for.)<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

In\nan article titled, The Deliberate Dumbing Down of\nAmerica<\/span><\/b>, Charlotte Iserbyt<\/span> notes that,<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

\"These college-level school books, as well as the Salina,\nKansas 1898 eighth grade final exam (on the Internet) which the average Harvard\ngraduate could not pass, supported conclusions I had reached over a period of\nthirty years as a researcher, school board member, co-founder, with Bettina\nDobbs, of Guardians of Education for Maine (1980-1998), and Sr. Policy Advisor\nin the U.S. Department of Education 1980-1982. Those conclusions were that the\ncreation of moral chaos and the \"dumbing down\" of America have been\ndeliberate in order to move our nation towards the totalitarian, socialist\nWorld Government called for by Lenin and Stalin.<\/span><\/b> <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Citizens who know nothing of their country's history, its free\neconomic and political systems, or of those alien systems such as democracy,\nfascism, socialism, and communism, who cannot read well, write or calculate,\nwill accept whatever the highly paid \"change agents\" feed them in\nregard to \"the need for change.\" Example: citizens' acceptance of\nfree trade (NAFTA and GATT) which sounds so nice but is really socialistic\ninternational \"redistribution of wealth.\" If a citizen doesn't know\nwhat he has, how can he know or care when that thing is taken from him?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

The danger in not teaching our children American history and\ntheir rights under the Constitution and Bill of Rights was underscored by a\nrecent survey commissioned by the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education\n(FIRE) and conducted at 339 U.S. colleges and universities which found that\nmore than 2\/3 of students and administrators<\/u> were unable to remember\nthat freedom of religion and the press are guaranteed by the Bill of Rights.\nWhen asked what essential rights are protected by the First Amendment to the\nU.S. Constitution, over 1\/4 failed to mention freedom of speech and over 3\/4\ndid not name freedom of assembly or the right to petition the government for\nredress of grievances. Only 21% mentioned freedom of religion, and less than\n30% mentioned freedom of the press.\"<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Under\nthe form of government established by our founding fathers, America was created\nas a \"nation under God,<\/b>\" recognizing that He was the ultimate\nauthority and that all good government derives from Him.\u00a0 Republican\ngovernment is representative of the people, and yet controls and moderates\ndemocracy in such a way as to stave off anarchy.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

I'm\na bit ahead of myself with this discussion, but as we continue this narrative\n-- most likely next week -- to get into the discussions between our founding\nfathers, you will easily see that there was a serious effort to prevent pure\ndemocracy as the Constitution of the United States was created and this nation\nwas formed.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

We've\nbeen talking about William Penn during the past couple of weeks, and the\ncharters and constitution he both requested and had prepared for the\nPennsylvania Colony.\u00a0 What may be lesser known is the fact that William\nPenn also established the Charter of Delaware<\/span><\/b>\nin 1701.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

The\narea we now know as the state of Delaware was formerly an apportionment of the\nlands and territories granted to Penn by Charles II under the denomination,\nPennsylvania and Territories.\u00a0 With the 1701\nCharter of Liberties for Pennsylvania and Territories<\/span><\/b>, William Penn\nseparated out a portion of that territory, designating it as the Delaware\nColony.\u00a0 In the same way that he relinquished his charter to the colonists\nand settlers of the Pennsylvania Colony, he also relinquished that portion of\nhis charter to those colonists and settlers in the Delaware Colony.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

The\npreamble to the charter reads much like the preface to the Charter of Liberties\nfor Pennsylvania, namely,<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

\"BECAUSE no People can be truly happy, though under the\ngreatest Enjoyment of Civil Liberties, if abridged of the Freedom of their\nConsciences, as to their Religious Profession and Worship: And Almighty God\nbeing the only Lord of Conscience, Father of Lights and Spirits; and the Author\nas well as Object of all divine Knowledge, Faith and Worship, who only doth\nenlighten the Minds, and persuade and convince the Understandings of People, I\ndo hereby grant and declare, That no Person or Persons, inhabiting In this\nProvince or Territories, who shall confess and acknowledge One almighty God,\nthe Creator, Upholder and Ruler of the World; and professes him or themselves\nobliged to live quietly under the Civil Government, shall be in any Case\nmolested or prejudiced, in his or their Person or Estate, because of his or\ntheir conscientious Persuasion or Practice, nor be compelled to frequent or\nmaintain any religious Worship, Place or Ministry, contrary to his or their\nMind, or to do or suffer any other Act or Thing, contrary to their religious\nPersuasion.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

AND that all Persons who also profess to believe in Jesus\nChrist, the Saviour of the World, shall be capable (notwithstanding their other\nPersuasions and Practices in Point of Conscience and Religion) to serve this\nGovernment in any Capacity, both legislatively and executively, he or they\nsolemnly promising, when lawfully required, Allegiance to the King as\nSovereign, and Fidelity to the Proprietary and Governor, and taking the Attests\nas now established by the Law made at Newcastle, in the Year One Thousand and\nSeven Hundred, entitled, An Act directing the Attests of several Officers and\nMinisters, as now amended and confirmed this present Assembly.\"<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Just\nas John Winthrop did double duty with Massachusetts and Connecticut (through\nhis son, John Winthrop II), William Penn utilized his powers and authority to ensure\nthat both Pennsylvania and Delaware were both established and founded upon\nfaith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Backing\nup once again in the 17th Century to the early years of Charles II, we find\nanother English Knight in search of a charter and grant of lands in\nAmerica.\u00a0 This gentleman's name was Sir Fernando Georges Knight, and the\nland he sought after was the province of Maine.\u00a0 Once again, we find the\nestablishing of the Gospel, and the building of churches at the heart of his charter.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Charles\nII's grant to Sir Fernando Georges Knight reads in part:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

\"CHARLES by the grace of God King of England Scotland\nFrance and Ireland Defender of the Faith, &c<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

To all to whom these Presents shall come Greeting Whereas Sir\nFerdinando Georges Knight hath been an humble suitor unto us to grant and\nconfirm unto him and his heirs a part and portion of the Country of America now\ncommonly called or known by the name of New England in America in these\nPresents hereafter described by the meets and bounds thereof with divers and\nsundry privileges and jurisdictions for the welfare and good of the state of\nthose Colonies that shall be drawn thither and for the better government of the\npeople...Do give grant and confirm unto the said Sir Ferdinando Georges his\nheirs and assignee All that Part Purported and Portion of the Mayne<\/span> Lande<\/span> of New England\naforesaid beginning at the entrance of Piscataway Harbor and soe<\/span> to pass up the same into the River of Newichewanocke<\/span>.....<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

.........and also All Patronages and Advisers Free Dispositions\nand Donations of all and every such Churches and Chapels as shall be made and\nerected within the said Province and Premises or any, of them with full power\nlicense and authority to build and erect or cause to be built and erected so\nmany Churches and Chapels there as to the said Sir Ferdinando Georges his heirs\nand assignees shall seem meet and convenient and to dedicate and consecrate the\nsame or cause the same to be dedicated and consecrated according to the\nEcclesiastical Laws of this our Realm of England....\"<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\n<\/span>(spelling\ncorrected for modern English)<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

For\nthe past two weeks, we've been mostly looking at the charters and grants given\nby English kings to the settlers, explorers and colonists.\u00a0 The English,\nhowever, were not alone in their objectives.\u00a0 As we have noted already,\nthere were people from many nations who were fleeing religious persecution,\nrisking their lives and all they had in order to make their way to America in\norder to have a place where religious persecution would be banned, where the\nGospel of Jesus Christ could have free course, and where folks of varying\ndoctrinal persuasions could worship the Lord freely without the imposition of\ngovernment-enforced doctrines or restrictions.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Next\nSunday, we'll take a look at some of the charters and grants from the Dutch,\nthe French and the Swedish kings.\u00a0 You will quickly see that in all these\ncharters and grants, the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and freedom to\nworship was at the core of all their purposes.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

We\nhave a profound heritage, folks!\u00a0 It's time for America to wake up to that\nfact!\u00a0 It's time for believers to become spiritually militant and begin to\nretake this land from those enemies of the Gospel who would rub out all mention\nof the Lord Jesus Christ.\u00a0 It's time for Christians to become active in\nthe political processes like they have never before done.\u00a0 It is time for\nGod's people to exercise the authority granted them by the Lord.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Daniel\nprophesied this day.\u00a0 <\/span>\"But the saints of the most\nHigh shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for\never<\/span>, even for ever<\/span> and ever.........And he\nshall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of\nthe most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into\nhis hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.\u00a0 But the\njudgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to\ndestroy it unto the end.\u00a0 And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness\nof the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the\nsaints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all\ndominions shall serve and obey him.\"\u00a0 <\/span>(Daniel 7:18, 25-27)<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

We'll\ntalk more about this prophetic word in the weeks to come.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

I've\nbeen saying this throughout this series, and I've said it often throughout the\npast years, but we have a spiritual heritage behind the formation and founding\nof this nation the likes of which no other nation on earth has.\u00a0 America\nmust wake up to that fact!\u00a0 It's time for believers to assert their\nauthority in Christ and begin to exercise their responsibilities before God to\nretake this land from those enemies of the Gospel who would rub out all mention\nof the Lord Jesus Christ.\u00a0 It's time for Christians to become active in\nthe political processes like they have never before done.\u00a0 It is time for\nGod's people to exercise the authority granted them by the Lord as a direct\nresult of the covenant He has made with us.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

The\nelection of 2020 offers Christians across America the opportunity once again to\nraise up the righteous in authority, and to continue the \u201cswamp cleaning\u201d we\u2019ve\nseen in the past three years under President Trump.\u00a0 I know that there are\nmany issues facing this nation over which people express deep concern.\u00a0 It\nis extremely important that we realize we are in the midst of a battle royal --\na spiritual battle.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Because\nthe mainstream liberal media so highly accentuates and distorts the facts\nsurrounding virtually every issue facing the nation, people who get their news\nand information from the media, and then form their opinions and make decisions\non the basis of what they hear in the media almost always get led astray.\u00a0\nThere ARE major issues facing us in 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

No\nissue like the issue of illegal aliens so touches sensitive nerves among Americans.\u00a0\nThe fact that our borders are so porous reflects a lax attitude on the part of\nAmericans for generations.\u00a0 This isn't a recent issue.\u00a0 It's just\nthat the 9-11 attack brought it into glaring view.\u00a0 It isn't the Bush\nadministration's fault, although the media would love for you to believe\nthat.\u00a0 It is the fault of the Obama administration, the Bush\nadministration, the Clinton administration, the previous Bush administration,\nthe Reagan administration, the Carter administration, the Ford administration, etc.,\netc., ad nauseam; and yet one cannot place the blame at their doors,\neither.\u00a0 When you have people who ignore an ongoing problem for\ngenerations, and voters who refuse to show up and vote during both primaries\nand general elections, one cannot place blame anywhere but on the people as a\nwhole.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

We've\nbecome so desensitized to Truth by the distortions and manipulations of the\nmedia and liberal politicians with an agenda that it has become all too easy to\njoin the \"blame game.\"\u00a0 It's Obama's fault.\u00a0 No, it's the\nfault of Bush.\u00a0 Well, it's really the fault of the Democrats.\u00a0 No it\nisn't, the blame lies at the door of Republicans.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

See\nwhat I mean?\u00a0 Americans are afraid to take responsibility for their own\nlack of involvement.\u00a0 They stay home during the primaries, or play the\nkind of games folks played when I was running for the U.S. House.\u00a0 During\nthe 2003-2004 campaign, I can't tell you how many folks told me that they were\ngoing to switch sides during the primary in order to vote for a Democratic candidate\nthey believed I could beat in the general election.\u00a0 They expressed\nconfidence that I was going to win the primary easily, so instead of casting\ntheir vote for me, they voted on the Democratic ticket in order to shift the\nelection (they hoped) away from Lloyd Doggett who, though not an incumbent in\nthat Congressional District because of the redistricting that had taken place,\nwas exceptionally well-heeled because of having a well-oiled support machine by\nvirtue of many years in office.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

I\ndon\u2019t have the time or space to get into that discussion today, but it was a\nlearning experience for me \u2014 and one that I\u2019ve never forgotten.\u00a0 <\/span>Maybe I\u2019ll get to share some of it next\nweek.\u00a0 <\/span>See you then.<\/span><\/p>\n
