\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\u2019s continue today with\r\nwhere we were last week in our discussion.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>We have a ways to go with these scriptures as a part of our foundations.\r\n<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\u2019s explore the real\r\ncost of true authority.\u00a0 <\/span>We are going to\r\nlook at the lives of some individuals in Scripture who exercised the authority\r\ngiven them by God.\u00a0 <\/span>That authority did\r\nnot (and does not at any time in history or the present) come without cost.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The authority of the Lord\r\nis not cheap!\u00a0 <\/span>If we are going to operate\r\nin all that we\u2019ve been designed and created for, our flesh is going to undergo\r\npain, deprivation and occasional periods of what seems like torture.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The big difference between\r\nwhat our flesh endures and what our spirits experience is that our spirits\r\nprosper, and we grow into the level of spiritual maturity that must exist in\r\nus.\u00a0 <\/span>We were designed from the beginning\r\nfor dominion and rulership<\/span>, but we know from the\r\noriginal Creation that there were commands and restrictions for that dominion\r\nto function and continue.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Before we begin today\r\ntaking a look at the life of Joseph, and all that he experienced before he sat\r\non the throne of Egypt as second in command over the whole nation, let\u2019s wrap\r\nup the last part of last week\u2019s discussion.<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I want to come back\r\nto the revelation of Jesus Christ.\u00a0 <\/span>That\r\ncomes by and through the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation \u2014 one of the Seven\r\nSpirits of God.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The rational-thinking\r\nhuman mind cannot even begin to comprehend the depth of the love that Jesus has\r\nfor us.\u00a0 <\/span>Understand that Father God has\r\nthat same love.\u00a0 <\/span>He would not have\r\nappointed Jesus (and Jesus fully agreed) before time began (knowing in advance\r\nthat Adam and Eve were going to blow it) to become our redemption and\r\ndeliverance from the resulting curse that came upon the human race.\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus had imbred<\/span> in\r\nHimself a calling, a drawing, a driving force to see that we, who were first\r\ndesigned by Him and for Him to become a Heavenly family imbued with His Glory,\r\nHis authority and His power.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The natural, unredeemed\r\nmind just goes TILT <\/i><\/b>when trying to conceive all of that!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Consider how the\r\napostle Paul put it when writing to the Ekklesia<\/span> in\r\nCorinth:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I Corinthians 2:9-12<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>But as it is written, Eye\r\nhath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the\r\nthings which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them<\/i>\r\nunto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth<\/span> all\r\nthings, yea, the<\/span> deep things of God.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

For\r\nwhat man knoweth<\/span> the things of a man, save the spirit\r\nof man which is in him? even<\/span> so the things of God knoweth<\/span> no man, but the Spirit of God.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Now we\r\nhave received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God;\r\nthat we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Chew on that for\r\nawhile!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

I Corinthians 2:9-10<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Natural mind cannot\r\ngrasp, cannot conceive, cannot wrap its head around the things that God has\r\ndeveloped, matured and seasoned, for and on behalf of, all those who are\r\nimmersed in His love, and are totally given over to Him.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

But God\r\nhas, and continues to reveal them to us through and by His spirit, which is the\r\nHoly Spirit because Holy Spirit has taken off the veil of our minds, and\r\nrevealed the heart of God to us, by virtue of the fact the He continually\r\nstudies and investigates the deep and profound essence of Father and Son.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>(RAC Translation & Amplification)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Are you seeing it?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

THAT is a revelation\r\nof Jesus Christ.\u00a0 <\/span>That is how Holy Spirit\r\nreveals to us the true character, the nature, the essence of Who Jesus Christ\r\nIS!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We are talking about\r\nruling and reigning with Christ.\u00a0 <\/span>That\r\ncannot happen until we have a real revelation of Who Jesus is \u2014 not only in\r\nHeaven, or as the Son of Father God, but IN US!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Let\u2019s review again\r\nsome statements that Jesus made.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Matthew 28:18-19<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/b>And Jesus came and spake<\/span> unto them, saying, All<\/u><\/span>\r\npower is given unto me in heaven and in earth. <\/u>Go ye therefore, and teach\r\nall nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of\r\nthe Holy Ghost: <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Matthew 10:5-8<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>These twelve Jesus sent\r\nforth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and\r\ninto any<\/i> city of the Samaritans enter ye not: But go rather to the lost\r\nsheep of the house of Israel. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And as\r\nye go, preach, saying, The<\/span> kingdom of heaven is at\r\nhand.\u00a0 <\/span>Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers,\r\nraise<\/span> the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have\r\nreceived, freely give.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

You see, it begins\r\nwith the fact that Jesus says, All<\/span> power in heaven and\r\nin earth is given unto me.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>The Greek\r\ntext uses the word exousia<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\r\ninstead of dunamis<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span>\r\nfor power.\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus was saying, All<\/b><\/span> authority in heaven and earth has been given\r\nto me<\/b>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

When Jesus sent the\r\ntwelve disciples out, He commanded them with that same authority to state\r\nunequivocally that the ruling authority and power of the Kingdom of God had\r\ncome \u2014 and here\u2019s the kicker \u2014 vested in them! <\/i><\/b>\u00a0<\/span>They were commanded with that authority to\r\nheal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead and cast out demons.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Luke 10:1, 9:<\/span><\/u><\/b>After\r\nthese things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two\r\nbefore his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come\u2026...And\r\nheal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come\r\nnigh unto you.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Again we see the\r\nauthority of the Lord in action.\u00a0 <\/span>The\r\nGreek word translated \u201cappointed\u201d means to commission and make evident to all\r\nwho see and hear that His Kingdom authority and rulership<\/span>\r\nare at work.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Now, on to the life\r\nof Joseph as the first example of the processes that get<\/span>\r\nworked out in us as we are prepared for rulership<\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Genesis 37:5-11<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>And Joseph dreamed a\r\ndream, and he told it<\/i> his brethren: and they hated him yet the more. And\r\nhe said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed: For,\r\nbehold, we were<\/i> binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose,\r\nand also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made\r\nobeisance to my sheaf. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And his\r\nbrethren said to him, Shalt<\/span> thou indeed reign over\r\nus? or<\/span> shalt<\/span> thou indeed\r\nhave dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for\r\nhis words. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And he\r\ndreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have\r\ndreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars\r\nmade obeisance to me. And he told it<\/i> to his father, and to his brethren:\r\nand his father rebuked him, and said unto him, Whatis<\/i><\/span>\r\nthis dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren\r\nindeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth? <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And his\r\nbrethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

So Joseph receives these dreams from the Lord.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>They excite him, and yet he finds them very\r\nunusual, so he shares them with his parents and his brothers.\u00a0 <\/span>Let\u2019s not forget that Joseph was the youngest\r\nof all.\u00a0 <\/span>The fact that he would share\r\nthese dreams with his family \u2014 and the dreams showed him in a rulership<\/span> position over his family \u2014 didn\u2019t exactly make\r\nhim popular.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

His sharing, however, unwittingly opened the way for him to\r\nexperience the cost of his preparation.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>The dreams were real, but Joseph was going to go through a lot of things\r\nbefore he could ever become the ruler for which he\u2019d been given him a vision by\r\nGod.\u00a0 <\/span>A whole lot of things are going to\r\nunfold.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Genesis 37:13-22<\/span><\/u><\/b>:<\/span><\/b>And<\/span><\/span> Israel\r\nsaid unto Joseph, Do not thy brethren feed the flock<\/i> in Shechem<\/span>? come<\/span>, and I will send\r\nthee unto them. And he said to him, Heream<\/i><\/span>\r\nI<\/i>. And he said to him, Go, I pray thee, see whether it be well with thy\r\nbrethren, and well with the flocks; and bring me word again. So he sent him out\r\nof the vale<\/span> of Hebron, and he came to Shechem<\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And a\r\ncertain man found him, and, behold, he was<\/i> wandering in the field: and\r\nthe man asked him, saying, What<\/span> seekest<\/span>\r\nthou? And he said,<\/span> I seek my brethren: tell me, I pray\r\nthee, where they feed their flocks<\/i>. And the man said, They<\/span>\r\nare departed hence; for I heard them say, Let us go to Dothan. And Joseph went\r\nafter his brethren, and found them in Dothan.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And\r\nwhen they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired\r\nagainst him to slay him. And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer\r\ncometh. Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit,\r\nand we will say, Some<\/span> evil beast hath devoured him:\r\nand we shall see what will become of his dreams.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And\r\nReuben heard it<\/i>, and he delivered him out of their hands; and said, Let\r\nus not kill him. And Reuben said unto them, Shed no blood, but<\/i> cast him\r\ninto this pit that is<\/i> in the wilderness, and lay<\/span>\r\nno hand upon him; that he might rid him out of their hands, to deliver him to\r\nhis father again.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

What happens when you experience\u00a0 <\/span>a<\/span> vision or dream from the Lord and\r\nyou share it with folks who have not had such experiences and are not walking\r\nin communion with the Lord?\u00a0 <\/span>They begin\r\nto conspire against you!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Those who conspire may be members of your own family or they\r\ncould be people you associate with and consider your friends.The<\/span>\r\nproblem is fear and jealousy.\u00a0 <\/span>It is also\r\na case of their viewing themselves as less than worthy of the same experiences.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

(I know this because of what I experienced in my youth as a\r\nresult of sharing my experiences with angels, with the Lord appearing at my\r\nbedside and with my first visitation to heaven.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>I was mocked, made fun of and criticized by\r\nmy own brother \u2014 not to mention the kids I played with.\u00a0 <\/span>So I shut up for years to come.)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Genesis\r\n37-23-36<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/u>And it\r\ncame to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stripped Joseph\r\nout of his coat, his<\/i> coat of many<\/i>colours<\/span>\r\nthat was<\/i> on him; And<\/span> they took him, and cast\r\nhim into a pit: and the pit was<\/i> empty, there was<\/i> no water in it. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And\r\nthey sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and,\r\nbehold, a company of Ishmeelites<\/span> came from Gilead\r\nwith their camels bearing spicery<\/span> and balm and myrrh,\r\ngoing to carry it<\/i> down to Egypt. And Judah said unto his brethren, What<\/span> profit is it<\/i> if we slay<\/span>\r\nour brother, and conceal his blood? Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites<\/span>, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is<\/i>\r\nour brother and<\/i> our flesh. And his brethren were content.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Then\r\nthere passed by Midianites<\/span> merchantmen; and they drew\r\nand lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites<\/span>\r\nfor twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt.\u00a0 <\/span>And Reuben returned unto the pit; and,\r\nbehold, Joseph was<\/i> not in the pit; and he rent his clothes. And he\r\nreturned unto his brethren, and said, The<\/span> child is<\/i>\r\nnot; and I, whither shall I go?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

You see what is\r\nunfolding for Joseph.\u00a0 <\/span>He\u2019s done nothing\r\nto deserve this, but his brothers are determined to be rid of him.\u00a0 <\/span>Were it not for Judah\u2019s suggestions, there is\r\nno doubt that Joseph would have been killed.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>The circumstances intervened and the Ishmeelites<\/span>\r\nsolved the brothers\u2019 problem by buying him to market as a slave.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Nevertheless, this is\r\npart of the testing process;\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Joseph<\/span> has had some important dreams that bear on his future, the\r\nfuture of his family and the future of one or more nations.\u00a0 <\/span>He<\/span> doesxn\u2019t<\/span> know that yet but before all that can come to\r\nfruition and manifestation.\u00a0 <\/span>This is part\r\nof the cost of authority.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And they\r\ntook Joseph\u2019s coat, and killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the coat in the\r\nblood; And<\/span> they sent the coat of many<\/i>colours<\/span>,\r\nand they brought it<\/i> to their father; and said, This have we found: know\r\nnow whether it be<\/i> thy son\u2019s coat or no. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And he\r\nknew it, and said, It<\/i><\/span> is<\/i> my son\u2019s coat;\r\nan evil beast hath devoured him; Joseph is without doubt rent in pieces. And\r\nJacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his\r\nson many days. And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him;\r\nbut he refused to be comforted; and he said, For<\/span> I\r\nwill go down into the grave unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him.\r\n<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And the\r\nMidianites<\/span> sold him into Egypt unto Potiphar<\/span>, an officer of Pharaoh\u2019s, and<\/i> captain of\r\nthe guard.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

First, Joseph is sold\r\nto the Ishmeelites<\/span> for the price of a slave \u2014 20\r\npieces of silver.\u00a0 <\/span>They journeyed to\r\nEgypt where the Ishmeelites<\/span> sold Joseph again as a\r\nslave to Potiphar<\/span>, who was captain of Pharaoh\u2019s\r\nguard.\u00a0 <\/span>Now a strange thing occurs.\u00a0 <\/span>Joseph is not going to take all of these\r\nexperiences like some defeated, doomed individual.\u00a0 <\/span>Joseph obviously hasmaintained<\/span>\r\nhis faith and trust in the Lord.\u00a0 <\/span>While\r\nnone of this makes sense, he walks in absolute integrity before the Lord,\r\nbefore Potiphar<\/span> and before everyone around.\u00a0 <\/span>Consider what we see next.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Genesis 39:1-6<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>And Joseph was brought\r\ndown to Egypt; and Potiphar<\/span>, an officer of Pharaoh,\r\ncaptain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites<\/span>, which had brought him down thither. And the\r\nLORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man<\/u>; and he was in the house\r\nof his master the Egyptian. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And his\r\nmaster saw that the LORD was<\/i> with him, and that the LORD made all that\r\nhe did to prosper in his hand. And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he\r\nserved him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that<\/i><\/span>\r\nhe had he put into his hand. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And it\r\ncame to pass from the time that<\/i> he had made him overseer in his house,\r\nand over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian\u2019s house for Joseph\u2019s\r\nsake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and\r\nin the field. And he left all that he had in Joseph\u2019s hand; and he knew not\r\nought he<\/span> had, save the bread which he did eat. And\r\nJoseph was a<\/i> goodly person<\/i>, and well favoured<\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Notice\r\nsomething?\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>And the\r\nLORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man<\/span><\/u>; <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>By<\/span><\/span> all natural reasoning, that\u2019s a\r\ncontradiction in terms!\u00a0 <\/span>Joseph is a\r\nslave!\u00a0 <\/span>How do you reckon that he was\r\nprospering?\u00a0 <\/span>Did he have lots of\r\nmoney?\u00a0 <\/span>Nope!\u00a0 <\/span>Did he have his own elegant home?\u00a0 <\/span>Nope!\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Did he wear the finest tailor-made clothing?\u00a0 <\/span>Somehow, I don\u2019t think so!\u00a0 <\/span>Was he recognized as a man having authority,\r\none who mingled with the \u201cupper crust\u201d?<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Well, not yet anyway!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Then how can the\r\nScripture say that Joseph was prosperous?\u00a0\r\n<\/span>The answer is simple.\u00a0 <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

THE LORD WAS WITH\r\nJOSEPH!<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Prosperity is not\r\nmeasured by what you possess in a material realm.\u00a0 <\/span>Prosperity is measured by your standing with\r\nGod.\u00a0 <\/span>If you walk in intimate fellowship\r\nwith the Lord, then everything you do will prosper.\u00a0 <\/span>And that\u2019s exactly what we see unfolding\r\nhere.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And his\r\nmaster saw that the LORD was<\/i> with him, and that the LORD made all that\r\nhe did to prosper in his hand. And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he\r\nserved him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that<\/i><\/span>\r\nhe had he put into his hand. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Joseph\u2019s faithfulness\r\nand integrity were a standout to Potiphar<\/span>.\u00a0 <\/span>He wasn\u2019t used to seeing that kind of\r\nintegrity.\u00a0 <\/span>So Joseph gets his first elevation\r\nto a place of authority.\u00a0 <\/span>But thyis<\/span> is not the first experience with authority.\u00a0 <\/span>Watch!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And it\r\ncame to pass from the time that<\/i> he had made him overseer in his house,\r\nand over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian\u2019s house for\r\nJoseph\u2019s sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the\r\nhouse, and in the field. <\/u>And he left all that he had in Joseph\u2019s hand; and\r\nhe knew not ought he<\/span> had, save the bread which he did\r\neat. And Joseph was a<\/i> goodly person<\/i>, and well favoured<\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Brother!\u00a0 <\/span>THAT is a place of trust!\u00a0 <\/span>Potiphar<\/span> left\r\neverything that he had into Joseph\u2019s trust, and his control.\u00a0 <\/span>Joseph was now number two in Potiphar\u2019s<\/span> household.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>His level of authority is increasing, and he is being groomed by the\r\nLord for what comes next.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

But wait!\u00a0 <\/span>The Enemy is going to try and throw a monkey\r\nwrench into Joseph\u2019s life.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Genesis 39:7-20<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>And it came to pass after\r\nthese things, that his master\u2019s wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie<\/span> with me. But he refused, and said unto his master\u2019s\r\nwife, Behold, my master wotteth<\/span> not what is<\/i>\r\nwith me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand; There\r\nis none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing<\/span> from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how\r\nthen can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God? And it came to pass,\r\nas she spake<\/span> to Joseph day by day,\r\nthat<\/span> he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her. And it\r\ncame to pass about this time, that<\/span> Joseph went into\r\nthe house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there\r\nwithin. And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie<\/span>\r\nwith me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Joseph, in his youth\r\nand naivete<\/span>, missed the fact that with Potiphar\u2019s<\/span> wife making daily passes at him, passes which\r\ndid not succeed with other workers being present, didn\u2019t think about the fact\r\nthat if there were no other witnesses present, he needed to take someone else\r\nwith him into the house to take care of business.\u00a0 <\/span>That\u2019s a lesson for all of us!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And it\r\ncame to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and was\r\nfled forth, That she called unto the men of her house, and spake<\/span>\r\nunto them, saying, See, he hath brought in an Hebrew unto us to mock us; he came\r\nin unto me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice: And it came to pass,\r\nwhen he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment\r\nwith me, and fled, and got him out. And she laid up his garment by her, until\r\nhis lord came home. And she spake<\/span> unto him according\r\nto these words, saying, The Hebrew servant, which thou hast brought unto us,\r\ncame in unto me to mock me: And it came to pass, as I lifted up my voice and\r\ncried, that he left his garment with me, and fled out.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And it\r\ncame to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spake<\/span> unto him, saying, After<\/span> this\r\nmanner did thy servant to me; that his wrath was kindled. And Joseph\u2019s master\r\ntook him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king\u2019s prisoners<\/span> were<\/i>bound<\/span>: and he\r\nwas there in the prison.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

So, once again,\r\nJoseph\u2019s integrity has been challenged.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Despite the great integrity and trust that Joseph had shown to Potiphar<\/span>, Potiphar<\/span> was so used to\r\nthe Egyptian mentality and lack of morals that his first thought was to believe\r\nthe accusation against Joseph.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

From his perspective,\r\nhe had no option but to get rid of Joseph.\u00a0\r\n<\/span>Because of the perceived disrespect and dishonor of his household, there\r\nwas no other choice he could make but to put Joseph into the prison reserved\r\nfor those who committed offenses against Pharaoh.\u00a0 <\/span>These were considered the worst of the worst\r\noffenders in the land.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

But, wait!\u00a0 <\/span>Joseph\u2019s integrity hasn\u2019t suddenly\r\nvanished.\u00a0 <\/span>He is still the man of\r\nGod.\u00a0 <\/span>He still has favor with the Lord.\u00a0 <\/span>It is that favor that is going to make all\r\nthe difference in what transpires next.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

And that, folks, is<\/span> where we will pick up this narrative next week!<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n
