\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n

We are going to dive right in\r\nand pick up where we left off a week ago. \r\n<\/span>We were talking about Adam and Eve\u2019s partaking of the Tree of the\r\nKnowledge of Good and Evil. <\/span>Let\u2019s recap\r\na few lines from the end of last week\u2019s discussion.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Adam's face is filled with puzzlement as he\r\nhears the serpent say to Eve, \"You shall not surely die. <\/span>For the Lord knows that in the day you eat\r\nthereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be as gods, knowing good\r\nand evil.\" <\/span>Thoughts race through\r\nhis mind. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

What does being gods\r\nhave to do with anything? <\/span>We have\r\nfellowship and intimate friendship with the Lord God, our Creator, even\r\nnow. <\/span>We have been given dominion over\r\nthe earth, and over every creature that walks upon the earth. <\/span>There has been nothing withheld from us. <\/span>Do we need something that He has not given\r\nus? <\/span>We have been created in the likeness\r\nand image of the Lord God. <\/span>Are we not\r\n\"as God\" even now? \r\n<\/span>Hmmmm.............what is good? \r\n<\/span>For that matter, what is evil?<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

As these thoughts have filled him, Adam has\r\nlooked off into the distance, somewhat oblivious to Eve's gaze at the Tree of\r\nKnowledge of Good and Evil. <\/span>Logic\r\ndictates that they obey the voice of the Lord in this matter. <\/span>He has said, <\/span>\"Of the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and\r\nEvil, you shall not eat; for in the day you eat thereof, you shall surely die<\/span><\/span>.\"<\/span> <\/span>Adam is not really sure what that means since\r\ndeath is an unknown quantity, and they have never seen death, having been\r\ncreated with such regenerative powers as to virtually live forever, but a\r\ntermination or cessation of their relationship with the Lord God seems certain\r\nif they partake. <\/span>That must be what\r\ndeath is all about.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Adam comes to with a start as he now\r\nrealizes that Eve has reached up and taken a piece of this ripe, red,\r\ndelicious-looking fruit off the tree and is taking a bite. <\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

\r\nOh, no! <\/span>Eve, what have you done? <\/span><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Eve's lips pucker somewhat with the\r\nbittersweet taste, and a smile now stretches across her face. <\/span>There is no dawning of knowledge, yet -- just\r\nan awareness that the fruit is<\/b> tasty. \r\n<\/span>She hands it now to Adam.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

A sinking feeling fills the pit of Adam's\r\nstomach. <\/span>The words spoken by their best\r\nfriend, God, ring in his ears. <\/span>\"In\r\nthe day you eat thereof, you shall surely die.\" <\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Oh, Eve! <\/span>What have you done? <\/span>If you are separated from God, you will be\r\nseparated from me. <\/span>If you are separated\r\nfrom me, you will have no one to protect and watch over you. <\/span>I will be lonely and incomplete again. <\/span>You will be lonely and incomplete in the same\r\nmeasure that I once knew. <\/span>I will not --\r\nI cannot permit you to know that kind of agony.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

And Adam reaches to take the fruit from his\r\nbeloved, Eve, to the utter horror and surprise of the serpent. <\/span>He will partake of it, and in so doing,\r\nredeem her from the separation from him which would otherwise surely come. <\/span>Though Eve will know death, it will not be\r\nthe kind of death which would have come had she been ripped from his\r\nfellowship, companionship and protection. \r\n<\/span>Adam will gladly take the death to himself, and in so doing, prevent the\r\nserpent from having her to his exclusive domain.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

You can see the astonishment on the\r\nserpent's visage. <\/span>He had hoped to have\r\nthe woman for himself. <\/span>They would become\r\none -- or so he had thought -- and he would have his revenge against the Lord. <\/span>He would have what the Lord did not have -- a\r\ncounterpart, an other self, a co-equal to fulfill his onoma<\/span><\/i>. <\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Such arrogance! <\/span>Such pride! \r\n<\/span>This picture of brazenness takes us back to what we saw in Haman. <\/span>Haman was the perfect specimen of Lucifer --\r\nthe serpent, Satan -- as he sought to accomplish precisely the same thing with\r\nthe destruction of Esther and her people, and gain the throne by the overthrow\r\nof Xerxes (Ahasuerus).<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

And again it has come to naught. <\/span>Oh, the serpent will have Adam and Eve under\r\nhis dominion. <\/span>Though they will still be\r\nOne, they will be his slaves, and he will have prevented the Lord from having\r\nHis Bride........or so he thinks. <\/span>His\r\nefforts to have a bride for himself will not cease. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

He will change his approach many times in\r\nthe ages to come. <\/span>He will greatly fear\r\nthe human race, even though they are under his dominion. <\/span>He will seek in every possible way to prevent\r\nthem from ever seeing the heart and purposes of the Lord to have for Himself a\r\ncounterpart. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

His approaches will become more and more\r\ncamouflaged as he strives to gain the heart of a people. <\/span>He will become even more crafty. <\/span>And in the end, it will still come to naught.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Adam's act will condemn them both to\r\nremoval from the Garden, and separation from the Lord God, and the intimate\r\nrelationship they have known with Him. \r\n<\/span>Outside the Garden and beyond this place, this portal where eternity has\r\nruled, a time clock will begin ticking. \r\n<\/span>Adam and Eve will begin to feel -- albeit slowly, at first -- the\r\neffects of aging. <\/span>The clock will tick\r\nfor nine hundred and thirty years for Adam and Eve, and they will die, as\r\nsurely as the Lord had warned them. <\/span>They\r\nwill die <\/span>\"in the day they ate thereof.\"<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\u00a0<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Just as they were created on the\r\n\"sixth day,\" where <\/span>\"a day with the Lord is as a\r\nthousand years,\" <\/span>and\r\ndwelled with the Lord through the sixth and seventh days, they will die before\r\nthe end of the eighth day, some nine hundred thirty years following their\r\ndeparture from the Garden. <\/span>If measured\r\nwithin the framework of time as we have known time, their lives would stretch\r\nfrom their exiting of the Garden to the day when David erected his\r\ntabernacle. <\/span>No human beings -- ever --\r\nwill dwell on the face of the earth for a span of time to equal that of Adam\r\nand Eve -- unless it be us........but we will not speculate on that! <\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

An extraordinary thing will have happened,\r\nhowever. <\/span>Adam's act of participating\r\nwith Eve and eating of the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil will\r\nhave thwarted the Serpent's plan. <\/span>He\r\nthought he was going to rob Adam of Eve, and in so doing, prevent the Plan of\r\nthe Lord God from going forth in the earth. \r\n<\/span>True, the Serpent did now have Adam and Eve living under his dominion --\r\nso to speak -- but the Plan of the Lord God was even more surely established in\r\nthe earth. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Adam has demonstrated the onoma<\/span><\/i><\/b>of the Lord. <\/span>He chose to die for his beloved Eve rather\r\nthan allow her to be forever separated from him, and imprisoned to the abuses\r\nof the serpent, whose true colors became evident as he spoke his lies and\r\nopposition to the expressed word and warning of the Lord. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

He would go down in history as <\/span>\"the\r\nfirst Adam,\" <\/span>having\r\nredeemed his bride from destruction, separation, and imprisonment.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Yes, they and their descendants born\r\noutside the Garden would be subject to the wiles, the torments, the treachery\r\nof the serpent, who would henceforth be called, Satan. <\/span>Yes, they would now have to \"work for a living\"\r\nby tilling the ground instead of watching it simply spring forth spontaneously\r\nas it had in the Garden. <\/span>Yes, they would\r\nknow disease and sickness, labor and hardship. \r\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

They would see their descendants fight\r\namong themselves and kill one another. \r\n<\/span>They would live to see such evil come upon the earth as could scarcely\r\nbe imagined. <\/span>They would see the true\r\neffects of eating of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil as death reigned in\r\nthe earth. <\/span>They would know that although\r\nthey had been given the Tree of Knowledge -- along with the Tree of Life in the\r\nGarden -- and the freedom to choose whether to partake or to heed the warnings\r\nof the Lord God, it was their choices which had separated them from Him.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Yet, in the midst of it all, hope and a\r\npromise would spring forth in their beings, for in the midst of their removal\r\nfrom the Garden of Eden, the Lord had spoken. \r\n<\/span>As the Serpent was transformed from a creature of beauty and loveliness\r\ninto a hated snake who would be forever condemned to crawl on his belly in the\r\ndust of the earth, trodden over and despised of the human race, God had spoken,\r\n<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\"I will put\r\nenmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; and it\r\nshall overwhelm and crush your head, and you shall snap at and attempt to\r\nbruise his heel.\"<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Thus was there promised to Eve -- and to\r\nAdam -- the coming of a descendant who would turn the tables on the serpent --\r\none who would crush him and destroy his power over the human race. <\/span>That One would come in the likeness of Adam,\r\nwho redeemed his bride from destruction.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

That One would redeem His Bride from\r\ndestruction, and finally -- once and for all -- finish the power of the Serpent\r\nin the earth. <\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Watching Adam this day as he departs the\r\nGarden with Eve, we cannot help but be overwhelmed with the picture of our\r\nBridegroom. <\/span>It is also a strange\r\nparadox. <\/span>Adam was created, formed,\r\nmolded, shaped in the exact likeness and image of our Bridegroom. <\/span>Yet He, Jesus Christ, came into the earth as\r\nthe seed of Adam and Eve, created, molded, shaped in the image of Adam. <\/span>By another paradox, He was not the seed of\r\nAdam, but the seed of Eve. <\/span>True, He came\r\nof a woman, but he was implanted in the woman -- not by man, but by the Holy\r\nSpirit with whom He was already One. \r\n<\/span>Thus he came as <\/span>\"the second Adam.\"<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

A cycle has been completed. <\/span>Adam was not born of a woman -- he was\r\ncreated, molded, formed under pressure by the hand of the Lord God, and had the\r\nbreath of life breathed into him by the Lord. \r\n<\/span>Eve came from Adam, having been drawn from his side -- not<\/b> having\r\nbeen born of a woman. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Though Jesus was born of a woman, He was\r\nnot of the seed of Adam, nor was He in any way a genetic descendant. <\/span>The life which was in Him was the breath of\r\nthe Spirit, sent by the Father -- with whom He was One in the beginning. <\/span>In the same manner that Eve came from Adam's\r\nside, we have come from Jesus' side. <\/span>Eve\r\ncame from Adam's side, created after the flesh to be his counterpart. <\/span>We came from Jesus' side, created, drawn,\r\nmolded, and shaped under pressure -- after the Spirit -- to become His\r\ncounterpart -- after the Spirit.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Adam has the heart of the Lord for his\r\nbride, Eve. <\/span>He understood what the Lord\r\nhad experienced in being without a counterpart. \r\n<\/span>He knew<\/i><\/b> what it was to be incomplete. <\/span>At the same time, there was no way he could\r\ncountenance seeing Eve taken into captivity. \r\n<\/span>She was his counterpart -- his other self.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Rather than save his own life and allow Eve\r\nto suffer separation from him and perpetual bondage to the serpent, he has\r\nchosen to sacrifice his everlasting life here in the Garden and his place of\r\nunity and fellowship with the Lord God. \r\n<\/span>He could not more clearly demonstrate the onoma<\/i> of our\r\nBridegroom, the Lord Jesus Christ, who left his place of unity and fellowship\r\nwith the Father and the Holy Spirit as He came to redeem us from our place of\r\nperpetual separation and bondage to the serpent.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

In another extraordinary paradox we see\r\nthat Jesus, because He was and is God -- in leaving his place of unity and\r\nfellowship with the Father and the Holy Spirit to enter the human race as the\r\npromised seed of Eve -- and Adam -- in order to redeem His Bride, succeeded in\r\nonly solidifying that relationship even more. \r\n<\/span>Just as Adam left his throne in the Garden, Jesus left his throne in the\r\nheavenlies -- but He was sent to fulfill the original mission of the Father, the\r\nSon, and the Holy Spirit, established before time began.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

All of this -- every event which we have\r\nseen -- was foreknown and foreordained before the first words were spoken,\r\n\"Let there be light!\" <\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Again, the now familiar portal into\r\neternity quickly opens before us and around us. \r\n<\/span>Again we are engulfed in the ever-present sense of our Lord and\r\nBridegroom. <\/span>As Adam and Eve fade from\r\nour view, along with the Garden, we are gripped with an awe as we consider the\r\nmeticulous care that our Adam used in preparing for us, the infinite detail He\r\nwent to in preparing the circumstances of our development and growth, and the\r\ndeep love He demonstrated as He set the stage to have for Himself an overcoming\r\nBride. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Eve is very much the picture of us. <\/span>And yet, though she was clearly Adam's exact\r\nand precise counterpart, she was a bride after the flesh. <\/span>When faced with the temptation to have\r\n\"the knowledge of good,\" and the \"knowledge of evil,\" she\r\nsuccumbed.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

We, likewise, have been faced with the same\r\ntemptation, but have overcome -- choosing rather the Tree of Life and an\r\nintimate relationship with Jesus Christ, our Adam. <\/span>Because we have overcome, we are a part of\r\nthis corporate company known as \"The Bride of Christ.\"<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Do you see what cost Adam and Eve the\r\nThrone? <\/span>Do you see beyond the actual\r\nevents which unfolded to the principle which is revealed by the Lord?<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Though Adam willingly gave himself for Eve,\r\nhe nevertheless traded Truth for \"knowledge.\" <\/span>Enticed by the lure of the \"Knowledge of\r\nGood and Evil,\" and forgetting that they had something in their\r\nrelationship with the Lord far greater than \"knowledge\" -- namely,\r\n\"revelation\" -- <\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Eve succumbed to a lie. <\/span>It is a lie which has been the pervasive\r\nundercurrent in all of society from that day forth. <\/span>Consider the events which followed\r\nimmediately after Adam and Eve partook of that fruit. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Genesis 3:7-11 NASB<\/span><\/u><\/b>\"And\r\nthe eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they\r\nsewed fig leaves together, and made themselves loin coverings. <\/span>And they heard the sound of the Lord God\r\nwalking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid\r\nthemselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the\r\ngarden. <\/span>Then the Lord God called to the\r\nman, and said to him, 'Where are you?' \r\n<\/span>And he said, 'I heard the sound of Thee in the garden, and I was afraid\r\nbecause I was naked; so I hid myself.' \r\n<\/span>And He said, 'Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the\r\ntree of which I commanded you not to eat?'\"<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

How come after all these years of walking\r\nwith the Lord and enjoying the intimacy of their fellowship and union with Him,\r\nthey just now discovered that they were naked? \r\n<\/span>Hmmmm....... <\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Would you believe that they weren't naked\r\nbefore? <\/span>Oh yes, Genesis 2:25 says, <\/span>\"And\r\nthe man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed,\" <\/span>but the word used\r\nin this instance in the Hebrew text is: arom <\/span><\/i><\/b>(pronounced,\r\naw-rohm).<\/i> <\/span>It means: to be nude\r\n(in the physical sense), to be without clothing or garments of cloth. <\/span>It is a different word, however, which occurs\r\nin Genesis 3:7-11. <\/span>In this instance, the\r\nword in the Hebrew text is: erom<\/span><\/i><\/b>(pronounced,\r\ney-rome). <\/span>While it has the same root as\r\nthe previous word, its application differs in that it is used primarily in the\r\ncase of having been stripped; having one's covering removed.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The significance of this is seen in the\r\nfact that not once during the period of all those years in fellowship with the\r\nLord did they ever see themselves as naked. \r\n<\/span>True, they had no clothes on, but they were not naked. <\/span>They were clothed in Truth! <\/span>They were clothed in Righteousness. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

They were clothed in the glory of the\r\nLord. <\/span>And they enjoyed a relationship of\r\nlove with Jesus, their Creator.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

And in that<\/i> place of being clothed,\r\nthey ruled! <\/span>They functioned in\r\nunquestioned authority.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

A funny thing happened when they ate of the\r\nTree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. \r\n<\/span>They were stripped. <\/span>And of\r\ncourse, we know they had no clothes to be removed. <\/span>But they were stripped, nonetheless. <\/span>They were stripped of Truth. <\/span>They were stripped of Righteousness. <\/span>They were stripped of the glory of the\r\nLord. <\/span>And their intimate relationship\r\nwith the Lord was history.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Now, they were<\/i><\/b> naked!<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Interesting, isn't it? <\/span>Now Adam and Eve had the very thing the sages\r\nof this world strive for. <\/span>Now they\r\npossessed that quantifiable knowledge men and women the world over seek for in\r\ntheir colleges, universities and seminaries -- ever learning and never able\r\nto come to the knowledge of the Truth!<\/b> \r\n<\/span>Adam and Eve had given up Truth in exchange for knowledge. <\/span>When they got that knowledge, it robbed them\r\nof the throne. <\/span>It stole their\r\ncrown. <\/span>It exchanged the Truth for a lie.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n

And it left them naked! <\/span>It left them defenseless against that old\r\nSerpent, Satan, who took them into slavery and bondage.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n
